Malangen Resort vs Similar Hotels

Mixed: several guests loved large rooms and comfortable beds and views, but others reported problems (overheating rooms, small/dated showers, cracked window, worn mattress feel and some apartments smaller than expected).

Multiple guests report well-cleaned apartments and rooms; one comment notes the hotel overall feels a bit worn but specific accommodations were described as clean and well kept.

Consistently praised: outstanding fjord-side location, spectacular views, direct water access and excellent setting for fishing/sauna — the property's strongest attribute.

Reception and staff repeatedly described as very friendly and responsive (e.g., reception quickly handled small problems and offered replacement accommodation when needed).

Breakfast described as 'ok' and hotel kitchen noted positively by at least one guest, but several felt quality/price balance could be better.

Spa and sauna praised, but several missing or mismatched amenities noted (no advertised coffee machine, missing microwave in some units, terrace furniture sometimes absent, boat/fishing rental not available as advertised).

Concerns raised about extra charges (early arrival fee), high breakfast price and expectations not fully met — multiple guests felt some services did not justify cost.
