Charming old building
I would have liked a kettle
Comfortable king size bed & good shower. Good dinner & breakfast.

Very good food and friendly staff
Room service was a bit hit and miss
Very comfortable room with great decor and furnishings. The pub itself was great with friendly staff, and I had a fabulous meal there in the evening. The room had everything I needed, with a good selection of tea and coffee (including a cafetière!) and they provided me with Oat Milk. The furnishings, comfort, and finishing touches felt like those of a much higher end hotel. Would definitely stay again.
Location was good. Staff were friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was good. Beer was ok.
A pin to enter and exit the barrier instead of being buzzed through.
We booked this as a last-minute stay after our dog sitter let us down, as we needed to attend a family funeral locally. Before booking, we called the hotel specifically to confirm that it was pet friendly and that we could bring our two dogs. We were reassured that this would not be a problem. On arrival, we were shown to a very small room with no air conditioning. The fan provided showed that the room was 32°C, which was particularly concerning with two dogs. Thankfully, we had brought our own fan as well. Shortly after arriving, we popped to the local Asda. We had been gone for no more than five minutes when we received a call telling us that our door was wide open and that our two dogs had escaped and were running down the road outside the hotel/pub. We had locked the door behind us when leaving, so naturally we were extremely distressed. Thankfully, staff had managed to catch one of our dogs, and after calling our other dog several times, she eventually returned to us too. We were incredibly lucky, as there is a very busy A-road directly outside and a river behind the property. What was particularly disappointing was the response from a member of staff afterwards. Rather than simply helping us resolve the situation, we were spoken to in a very confrontational manner and told that we should never have left our dogs alone, that we should have locked the door, and that we were irresponsible. We had specifically contacted the hotel before booking to confirm that it was suitable for pets. We had also locked the door from the outside. We had no idea that the door did not secure from the inside in a way that prevented our dog from operating the handle and opening it. As a result, we had to pay someone locally to come and sit in the room with our dogs the following day because we could no longer safely leave them unattended. I appreciate that the staff did eventually help retrieve our dogs, and for that we are genuinely grateful.
Been a few times, lovely comfortable and friendly

Convenient for meeting family
Room was ok not worth the money
Beautiful inn on outskirts of Dartmoor. Just a mile off the A38. Rooms are in purpose built block at back of pub, very spacious and well equipped. Pub does great evening meals. Great value for money. Would definitely stay again when on business in area.
Nothing
Handy for our wedding
The rooms were hot and had no fridge for extra water
Breakfast was good but pricey as each item has a price tag attached...the room was nice comfortable but no air con...it had a fan that wasn't up to standard...the room was left untouched and no-one came to do room service...we were asked on the 1st day if we wanted anything you ask...that was it.
The cleaning of the room would have been better...the overall price of nearly £345. For 3nights not including breakfast could be better
Everything was excellent,i liked Everything
I liked everything, superb
Clean and perfect location for my work.
No fans in the room.

Staff
Great location, great facilities
The room we had was nice. Good bed and nice walk-on shower in the bathroom.
Everything was great really. If there was anything it was just that the food was expensive for pub food and fairly standard fare.
Good value excellent staff bent over backwards to accommodate you 10 out of 10
Wonderful, friendly staff and a great room, everything was laid out well for a very comfortable stay 😀
Staff were exceptionally accommodating and corrected an error on the booking (Twin NOT double bed) immediately. Food was good with reasonable pricing. Access to car parking was very good with a tenants only barrier. The staff were very good across the board.
It was turbo red hot in the room!! No fan or air conditioning-Now, in fairness to the venue I didn’t request either so I’m sure something would have been provided had I asked. Maybe worth installing a suitable item from the start?
I felt really very ill on arrival and the staff and management went out of their way to help me and really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable while I recovered and were really lovely to me. Outstanding staff and beautiful place to stay
The breakfast was nice, although they did get my order wrong. I thought there could have been more than all variations of a cooked breakfast. (Apart from the American pancakes and toast)
Our room was extremely hot because it had baked in the afternoon sun. One or two areas of the room were not completely clean.
Be good to have a fridge / cooler.
Good food, lovely room, would stay again
Rooms are to the rear of the pub with dedicated parking spaces. Nicely furnished, well equipped and private. Friendly staff and excellent food.

Our first stay here, and would definitely return. We loved the design and decor of the bedroom and bathroom. Useful desk plus coffee table and chairs were also fitted in. Very quiet and secluded. We appreciated the special teas and coffees plus bottled water. Proper glass glasses, large bath towels and an electric socket for the hairdryer near the mirror ticked all our 'must have' boxes!

Convenient location to visit my family. It was also an old family haunt for many years.
The noisy emptying of pub bottles into waste collection bins very early in the morning.
Peaceful Lovely scenery Great food Good value Very comfortable beds Fresh milk in the morning Staff friendly
Location and room were good. Had dinner in the pub was good also.
Not the facilities fault but one of the guests took up 2 parking spots had to park on general parking spot.
Good variety
This was our 2nd visit to the Dartmoor Halfway Inn and once again we had a very relaxing overnight stay whilst visiting our daughter closeby. The pub was buzzing in the evening which was great. The food delicious & the staff very helpful and attentive.
That we only had one night there haha
Room comfy and not too noisy considering pub on main road. Food in the pub was good and staff all very pleasant. Dog friendly areas to eat dinner and breakfast.
The road was very busy so we abandoned plans to walk from the pub and drove somewhere else for a dog walk.
Clean and comfortable

Rooms were superb, very comfy, good wifi.
Nothing not to like.
The room was absolutely beautiful. It was in a little block on the back of the inn away from the road and away from any noise of the bar/restaurant. It was like being in a very fancy hotel. The quality of the fittings was excellent, the bathroom was lovely and the tea/coffee/biscuits/water supply was super. Everything was so well done.
Staff really helpful and friendly. Rooms lovely and clean. breakfast was good quality.
Mike and the team are polite professional friendly and do a great job of making people feel welcome . Food is good quality keenly priced .
All good
The food was very good and the bed very comfortable
Nothing really
The room was very comfortable and clean with complimentary teas, coffees, water bottles, milk, etc..The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and the food very good too. Private parking for the car was a bonus too.
All good. :)
Bob and the team were brilliant as always.
The bed was the most comfortable we have been in. Location was perfect for visiting family.
Nothing really. Having breakfast included in the price would have made it perfect or even a discount for residents.
Good location, excellent staff, good room, comfy beds, good shower, secure parking behind the barrier next to the rooms.
Needed a proper hoover as there were cobwebs between bedside cupboards and walls; and the tiles in bathroom were loose in front of toilet seat, and milk had to be collected from desk, or was left outside early morning on 2 of the 3 days missed the middle day, needed a small room fridge.
Excellent accommodation, comfy bed, really warm. Great stay. Staf were excellent too.
Wonderful stay. Room was faultless. Food is fantastic and the staff were so attentive from start to finish. There’s nothing negative to say about staying here A+++++
Nothing negative to say whatsoever
Lively room and comfortable bed. Ideal for some work away from home.
Great valve with a good variety of food and very friendly and helpful staff
Nothing of note

Everything. Favourite place to stay.
It was quiet, comfortable and a very convenient location for our visit.
The room was very warm and we had to turn the radiator off.

Our room and en-suite bathroom were tastefully decorated, the bed was huge and very comfortable, and the tea and coffee tray was really well stocked. The TV was also really big!! Everything was perfect, and the staff were really lovely. Thank you!
All of it
I liked everything
Great place to stay and eat Excellent
The room was a little apartment located at the back of the property also you get your own signed parking space 👍 the staff were friendly and the meal we had was excellent Would we go back and recommend to others oh definitely
This is a great pub with great food, but definitely a poor stay.
Facilities were a bit tired around the edges. Staff didn’t seem to take it very seriously when they came into my room whilst I was there 😱 Caused me great anxiety as a single traveller. No way of securing the room as just a basic night latch door lock. Neighbouring room occupant also spent most of the night screaming, so probably one of the worst nights I’ve spent in a long time.
The room was beautifully decorated and clean! Would definitely stay again
Everything was brilliant until we were woken up early by staff pushing a bottle trolly and speaking very loud to each other. Then the cleaner actually opened our bedroom door when we were still in bed at 10.15am when we weren’t due to leave until 11. Apart from that our stay was impeccable.
Lovely location and clean, great food in the evening and the breakfast , everything seems expensive these days but we enjoyed the stay
The wife would of liked and outside seating at the accommodation
Ideal location - great accommodation and good food in the pub fir evening meal.
A little noisy from traffic passing but didn’t stop me from sleeping well
Stayed before and will continue to stay here. Lovely staff who go above and beyond. Room is cozy, especially in winter. It has everything you need.
Nothing.
Well run Good food Excellent room Helpful and friendly staff
The location was perfect The room was tastefully decorated and everything you needed The breakfast was very nice Free parking
Our room was extremely hot. We turned both radiators off. But still very warm Breakfast was a long wait. It would have be nice if it was communicated so we could have made a decision to go somewhere else. But when it arrived it was beautiful and fresh
We had a lovely clean room, staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious, overall very nice 3 nights at the halfway inn
Just one tiny criticism, the shower in our room could have done with a bit more power, that's it
New Manager Mike was very welcoming .look fwd to returning in 2026.
All good.
Did not have breakfast
Room was cold when we arrived but soon warmed up Lamb cutlet special in restaurant was extremely good

Lovely campsite and great goons on-site too . Staff excellent 👌
By 'Stay at a pub' standards it was exceptional. Spotlessly clean, superbly comfortable bed with Brixham fish and Devon Venison for dinner
Technicals! Neither Wi Fi on-site addresses were connectable. TV zapper was on the blink. But who cares when all else is so good.
Lovely room, very comfortable and private away from the main pub. Huge bed and fresh milk delivered in the morning! Ordered an evening meal in the pub and took it back to the room, staff were very accomodating.
Very small niggle, we were woken up quite early by what sounded like a trolley or wheelie bin being pulled around
Perfect location for me & my husband Great restaurant & pub Dinner & breakfast was really good Comfortable room everything you’d need Definitely recommend
Nothing to dislike
Friendly staff Excellent food Lovely room
