Extremely clean and loved how the place was decorated our room was brilliant, quiet and warm on a cold, windy and rainy night in wales.
Nothing.
Clean, warm and friendly
All good
Stayed for a few nights and had both breakfast and evening meal - both very good. Room was spacious and very comfortable.
Nothing
Schöne Zimmer. Essen im Pub ist auch sehr lecker.
The food was great and the night porter was very helpful providing support when we arrived late. The breakfast service, once seated was excellent and the choice for breakfast was lovely, just a shame about the booking for the dog.
We arrived late due to your property stating it was dog friendly yet when I called to check the booking, I was told that the room was not dog friendly. We then had to find a last minute kennel making us late. We booked a different hotel on our return due to this otherwise we would have come back. The issue was compounded by the fact that when we arrived for breakfast, the waitress asked for our room and then said 'Have you got the dog' - clearly we were noted as wanting a dog-friendly stay.
Everything
Nothing
No one around for check out so had to leave the key however, other than that room and hotel were great for the price. One thing to note the church bell rings every 15mins throughout the night.
lack of drop box/instructions ofr check out. Breakfast is a late start at 8am.
Softest duvet i have slept in. Bed was comfortable. Water was lovely and hot for a bath/shower. Breakfast was fantastic. Also great selection of fruit cereals exc. Overall exceeded our party's expectations
Nothing
Breakfast was really good , good choice and plenty to eat
Pleasant atmosphere and helpful staff. Enjoyable meal
No where to sit unless you were eating
Welcoming, clean, safe and comfortable location. Food was available and even if the restaurant was full, was able to eat in the bar. Staff were friendly and happy to help
Nothing! Loved the quirky character
The location is great, centre of Dolgellau. The standards in the rooms warrant the price. We had dinner there too which was a high quality ingredients and lovely presentation.
The breakfast was like a 3 star; limited menu. Long life pastries. Weak coffee.
Everything x
An amazing hotel that left us completely delighted! I'd like to make a special mention of the bed! The mattress was so comfortable and the pillows were incredible. We had the best sleep we've had in a long time. Even though there's a bar downstairs, the room was completely silent, with no noise from the street or the hallway. The food and drinks are delicious and the breakfast was simply superb with a great variety! They even offer discounts on drinks. The staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We will definitely be back!
The suite / room was really fab, spacious and clean. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening which was very good, as was the breakfast the following morning. The lovely staff even wrapped a sausage sandwich and some toast for our kids that didn’t come down for breakfast!
Only slight issue was how warm it was, the room is in the top of the building which means a lovely view but warm for sleeping in the hot weather. There was one small fan that didn’t work particularly well, the staff could well have been able to provide another one, we forgot to ask and then it was late so we didn’t bother as only stopping one night.
Very comfortable room and bed. Lovely historical building. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely touch providing a flask with fresh milk for guests to a have a tea or coffee in room. Breakfast is excellent, cooked to order. There is a playground 2 minutes walk from hotel. It 15 minutes from Mach loop . It excellent location for exploring the area. A plane flew over while we were in playground.
Location was great and front of house staff were all friendly. Dinner was amazing and the service was excellent. The bar has a great selection of drinks.
Breakfast service was slow, and the continental selection was very limited. Not serving coffee from the barista machine at breakfast time, and only having cafetiere coffee when this hotel cost nearly £200 for the night is not great - very disappointed to have to go to a coffee shop in town to bring back an espresso to have with breakfast.

Good
I loved where it was positioned in town i loved the atmosphete and the friendliness of the staff
Very close to train station, 10 minutes by feet to city center. Private garage for motorcycle, nice room. A little bit vintage but confortable
Comfy bed and good pillows. Fan.
Everything.

the location was good but difficult to get long term parking. The staff were pleasant
That room we were given was not good. It was very small, the smallest on the floor and it faced difficult into the afternoon sun. The windows would not open. Considering we booked 4 months in advance it was very disappointing. The photos on booking.com are a poor representation of the room. Room 110 -avoid it.
Clean and cool in the heat.
Secure parking for our bikes. Welcoming and efficient staff. It has a lift. Good sized room.
The menu looked good, but finished serving food at 8.00 so didn't get to sample it.
Really lovely, clean room - well stocked too! Very quiet and felt comfortable as a solo visitor. Great location and staff were lovely from the receptionist to cleaners to breakfast staff. Great breakfast included too.
The room was a little hot but there were fans provided. Shower lacked pressure. Overall pretty minor points!
Breakfast was good, staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is nicely situated in the middle of town.
A minor issue - all the TV channels had a weird voiceover going on all the time. Also be aware that the church bells chime every quarter of an hour!
Old hotel in the town centre
Breakfast was poor
Everything
Central town square, ideal for enjoying the character and atmosphere of Dolgellau.
Staff was very friendly and helpful food was very good and the room was lovely
Great food and pleasant staff, great looking building
The rooms needed a bit of tlc, cups in rooms were dirty, the bathrooms had mouldy silicone and grout dirty sink hole shame really as it could be wonderful just let down on the cleanliness -
Everything! Right in the middle of town. Lovely staff, clean and comfortable. Good food and service!
If I’m being really picky the pillows were much too soft. Vege sausages were awful! Very small price to pay for an otherwise really lovely hotel
The staff was fantastic, super friendly and helpful. Lunch and dinner was excellent, super tasty and honest. The location is central and great, the price is SUPERB and on its own, already makes some of the flaws (listed below as actionable feedback) just not matter because you get a mega cozy acommodation with great staff with fantastic value for money. We enjoyed our time in Wales quite a lot and the Royal Ship was a big part of that. Thank you so much!
The breakfast was... let's say ruggedly authentic. Simple and functional. Not bad, but just not comparable to dinner and lunch, which was outstanding. The bed was eeeever so slightly tilted downwards at the head side. It's not bad but once you notice it you can't forget it. The water system needs an upgrade. Warm water needs a lot of time to arrive in the shower and if one person flushes the toilet it needs a few minutes to properly reset for the next flush. There's a few patches that need fixing up like wall tapestry or the window shutters not closing properly.
Very good location, a perfect pub with bedrooms. Good food, friendly staff
Part of the community with lots of original features which the owner was happy to talk about. Obviously loves his job, the inn and community.
Wonderful staff and a great location
I’d complain about the tiny lift, but at least this hotel has one!
Room 307, TV reception awful. Still on antenna..
Very clean and superb staff
great breakfast and evening meal.
I had received confirmation of changes to the reservation dates from Booking.com however on arrival to be advised that an email had been sent advising that there were only 2rooms available and that the hotel had emailed to advise this.Communications between Booking.com and the accommodation needs to be better coordinated to ensure accommodation required is provided.Fortunately the hotel had a room spare .
Convenient for local amenities
Parking is limited
Hotel is located in a picturesque town and a looks impressive on arrival. Staff were very flexible and dealt with an amendment to our booking immediately and without issue. Car parking within the courtyard was great for three bikes.
Great central location and lovely rooms. Food exellent.
Limited parking.
Hôtel très bien situé avec un personnel vraiment sympathique. L'ambiance et le décor correspondent vraiment à ce que l'on attend d'un établissement Gallois.
Location is excellent. Staff were friendly. Breakfast is pretty decent.
Parking is limited, beds were mediocre, no air conditioning. We had 2 rooms, one of them on 1st floor was below par.
This isn't related to the hotel, but to Booking.com. When I booked I booked for two people - me and my 14 year old son. Booking.com stated I wanted a family room, but on arrival, the Royal Ship had confirmation from Booking.com that only one person was travelling!! Luckily, the hotel managed to changed some rooms around so that me and my 14 year old son weren't sharing a double bed!! For a company the size of Booking.com I find this to be shocking customer service! The hotel addressed the problem raised by Booking.com exceptionally and should be complimented on their customer service!!
Very well decorated. Relaxed but attentive atmosphere. Plenty of tea coffee biscuits and water in the room which was lovely. Breakfast yummy !
Shower was hot then cold both times we used it. Not enough parking for guests
Great location
Easy to find, clean
Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional
Nothing
Great decor, Lovely breakfast, very welcoming , pleasant staff
Room was stuffy...opened window but there was a lot of noise outside all night
Breakfast and general ambience was superb
Grande chambre familiale, comfortable, bonne nourriture
Pas clair que le lit pour enfant n'est pas fourni, on a finalement pu s'arranger avec le canapé
The rooms were nocely decorated
The only gripe was that the ceiling above the shower place was moldy
The location was great for our needs and the food at the hotel was very nice. Good dinner and plentiful breakfast
The room was very hot and stuffy, it was loud at night due to drunks in the street below making a noise and generally over priced. Some staff were miserable and appeared to dislike us in their manner. Carpark was too small and "Secure walled Car Park" and bike store were not secure and the bike store was a dumping ground of rubbish you had to step over to put your bikes in. Generally a bit overpriced for what it is.
Breakfast was very good. The bedroom was spacious and bed comfortable. Amount of sockets and mirrors was very good.
Would have been nice to have had a small chest of drawers for somewhere to keep underwear etc as the drawers in the table under the tv were far too shallow. Saying this there wasn't really anything I did not like though. It was a sunny weekend when we stayed and so kept the window open. The church bells chimed every quarter of an hour which at midnight is not very funny when you are trying to sleep and you get 12 chimes and then a small chime at 15 minute intervals! Why at this time of night???
Exceptional breakfast, larger than most cooked breakfasts I've had before.
Some updating needed, lots of marks on walls in bedroom, shower seal disgusting, needs replacing. Bathroom door needs cleaning (Room 209). Photos of rooms on website deceiving as ours was smaller than expected. Disappointed with evening meal, triple cooked chips are not very nice. Couldn't get in car park on second night so cost us £15.75 to stay in the long stay.
The views from the hotel room and the size of the room .
The room was very hot but they did provide an electric fan.
lovely staff all very professional and helpful.Great location near to everything and food lovely. Bar had loads of choice and great service.
The bed was comfortable. The shower had power. Found the facilities to be excellent. The room for 5 adults was quiet and cosy. We had dinner in the dining room, which was beautifully presented. Breakfast was brilliant! We all appreciated the power sockets and light switches next to the bed for easy phones charging. The sun blinds over the windows were helpful to keep the morning sun out and gave us uninterrupted sleep.
Not enough towel hooks in the bathroom. And beware of the low beams in the family room 🤕
Warm and welcoming. Lovely room, super comfy bed. Helpful and friendly staff. Great location. Would definitely stay again!
Slept well in comfortable bed. Had tea in the hotel which was great with a friendly service
Very clean - lovely staff, good friendly atmosphere.
Nothing
Location was great, bar was nice and restaurant for dinner was good.
Bedroom was shabby, broken blind, window wouldn't shut completely, heating was on when arrived mid afternoon, off when we retuned after dinner and room was freezing. No blanket in room, only a bedspread. Breakfast had a poor selection, not the menu advertised on website, not fresh pastries, only one choice of yogurt and fruit thta had been cut looked most unappetising.
Location was great it was for my mom and her friend stay. Unfortunately they came back just after 12 to find they was locked out and couldn't get in. They did in the end but panicked them. Think there should be a key for guests to be able to get in them selves
Rooms was lovely breakfast was good 👍
Lovely place , friendly staff
Nothing
The room was great and the position very convenient
There was a very poor standard of room servicing - surfaces around the sink in the bathroom not cleaned over 4 days. Dirty bath mat not replaced despite putting it in the bath as per protocol. Also a pillowslip stained slightly overnight on our first day by blood from a small cut was not replaced over our four day stay
Location
Bathroom too hot due to the unnecessary heating
Staff were friendly, the room was lovely, clean and spacious, food was delicious and the location is great!
Comfortable and clean pub/hotel with an ideal location for hiking
Good food
Parking very limited in courtyard at rear
Great location, clean and tidy
Shower was poor, no parking
The breakfast was lovely and the location was perfect
Couldn't shut the window so it was open all night and there was men doing the road late at night out side so struggling to get to sleep
Lovely room and breakfast very good. Definitely worth another visit here. Perfect location for great walks and Mawddach trail.
Property was nice and clean. Good location
Shower tray to room 308 did not drain well. Toilet flush was weak.
Excellent food both breakafst and dinner
The food was delicious.
Fairly limited breakfast choice (eg no avacado)
A great stay. Staff very friendly. Lovely food. Thank you Diolch
Nothing of note
Spacious clean and good value for money
No restaurant open on the evening . And last orders for evening meals were 19.00 .
Hotel posizionato in una bella località che offre anche un ottimo servizio di ristorazione, ambientazione tipica britannica
Il piatto doccia non era molto pulito e il riscaldamento scarso
Lovely food, great breakfast. super comfortable bed. Great location right in the middle of town. Very quiet at night. Easy check in and parking which is at a premium in Dolgallau Very friendly and accommodating staff We had a lovely time, we'll be back.
I wasn't sure about the small flask of milk that was handed to us at check in? For tea in the morning i assume, but i didn't trust it to stay healthy from 3pm until the next morning so I didn't use it. Also our hot water plumbing was a little noisy, i hope we didn't wake anyone 😬
Great location Parking on site but plenty of parking a short walk way Great comfortable clean room
Staff and location
Restaurant service
Great pub, great food, friendly staff. Very dog friendly! Nice breakfast the next morning.
Unfortunately while the room was nicely decorated, it was dirty, there was mould in the shower and window sills, the floors weren’t clean and there was thick dust on the headboard, lamps and elsewhere in the room. It could do with a coat of paint - tea and coffee splashes up the walls and marks elsewhere. A shame because everything else about the stay was great.
Our room was cosy, the food was good. Location great for being near the beaches.
I felt sorry for the staff as there was a wedding on and they seemed to be struggling with that and normal service.
Lovely place to stay. Staff lovey, and food very good indeed
Only stayed 2 nights
