Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Good location. Parking was a problem on site but Manager sent us to a carpark that was close by that wasn’t too bad.
Floors were very noisy. The carpet was not clean in our room or on the stairway.
Very over priced hotel, absolutely basic inside and property sectioned in half to accommodate a separate Italian restaurant fronting the hotel.
Room was very basic, needed modernising.
Geen parking (volzet), first come first served principe?
Easy to find ,excellent location on the main street
Parking ,not much You cn park on steet after 6pm until 8am
Good central location for Battle Abbey and High Street. Free guest parking on site. Large room, decent shower.
Lumpy mattress, cold basin tap not fixed in basin, reception and stairway grubby looking.
The owner was amazing, helpful and very pleasant. Can't fault the service
Room had few issues but very good value for money. Sheets, bathroom, towels lovely
The location was perfect. The room was basic but had everything we needed for 1 night.
Despite not being able to open our window, there was a bat in the bedroom. It flew around the room! We managed to get the animal out unharmed eventually. It made for an interrupted and uncomfortable nights sleep.
Good Location and yet quiet.
The curtains were broken and let in the evening and am light.
nothing
Helpful manager.
Water temp for shower uncontrollable. Tile moves on bathroom floor. No bath / floor towel mat. Bathroom door didn't close.Only 4 teabags for 2 nights visit with one wooden stirrer which wasn't replaced after the first day. Only whole milk cartons. Bed was not tidied or remade on second day. Curtains had missing hooks. Room smelt musty when window closed.

Not enough parking

Pleasant staff and lovely rooms. Brilliant location too.
Everything was great.
Great location and free parking. staff are lovely
Very dated and a bit tired
The location was brilliant
Location and ambience
Central location
It was filthy, stains on the mattress ,carpet had not seen a hoover for a long time.
The hotel is full of character, well equipped and unbeatable in value. Very good location and it is only 30 mins from Eastbourne. Everything you need from a hotel room is available. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a good Italian restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel.

Helpful staff, clean, comfortable, nice size bathroom, nice shower.
Decor was very shabby, like it needed a bit of tlc although I can't complain for £60 for a night for a twin room
Superb place really enjoyed it and host was Superb

Locatie
Te duur voor wat het was. Geen ontbijt. Sanitair totaal verouderd.
The location was excellent.
Online checkin not efficient.Uper floors difficult to access with no lift.
Value
Set right at the centre of the town and with parking! The manager was exceptionally helpful, understanding, kind and knowledgeable. Modern bathrooms. The Italian restaurant at the bottom of the building is great too! Facilities are good for this price point.
It would be lovely to see the stairs carpet replaced. Simply because it's so fantastically grand and would set the scene as a stunning feature in this charming old building. Charging points on a few sockets in the room would make life easier.
zajímavý hotel s historií a za dobrou cenu ...
Location was great and I loved being in the roof, I had a great view of swifts flying around in the evening. It was kind of the staff to carry my suitcase up to my room, I really appreciated this. Having a fan in the room was also really appreciated.
The carpet was tired.
The hotel is very tired BUT this is reflected in the price I think.
Good location.
Rather hot in the summer.
The hotel is in an excellent location if you plan on exploring Sussex and the staff were friendly
The parking at the hotel borders on absurd, it's down a narrow alley between the hotel and the hardware shop next door and is simply not laid out suitably to accomodate modern cars. There are too many bays and there is not enough room to manouevre. We only have a Ford Focus and on multiple occasions one of us had to get out and guide the other in and out of a bay. It's a good thing it's free for guests. The room itself was just about satisfactory, although you could tell everything had been done on the cheap like the paint and the furnishings. Our television and hair dryer did not work but we didn't need them anyway. Bedding seemed fine at first but then during our last night my partner noticed multiple dark stains on the duvet which looked like they may have been blood! Very disappointing on that front. The shower was also borderline unusable - it's one of those old fashioned bath-tub tap attachments which is placed inconveniently and seemed to never come to any temperature besides cold or scalding hot. For about £50/night I expected better. This hotel desperately needs doing-up and modernising.
Clean rooms
Not enough milk and tea in the room And price as double since I kadt went there
Friendly staff Comfortable beds
A little run down and tired
Very close to the Abbey where we were attending a wedding. Nice shops and cafes in the high street. Hotel itself was quirky with character and uneven floorboards, had an old charm to it that you don’t get in newer hotels.
Staircase was a lovely feature but I can see it being a problem for older or less mobile people especially if like us, the room was at the top. Also the water pressure in the bathroom was low so made flushing the loo difficult.
Location and staff willingness to support and help.
Really poor standard. Tiles and water tap loose in bathroom. Booked two rooms in the same category but with very different standard.
Good location. Handy for what we required. No problems with parking. Towels changed daily.
No breakfast facilities (only tea/coffee in the room). Poor room , right over the extractor fan for the Italian restaurant. No air circulation in the corridors . Bathroom needs a refurb/overhaul….its only a matter of time before the leaking bath/shower causes major damage to rooms below. Expensive compared to premier inns.
Location.
It floor was uneven and warm room.
The room seemed clean and was a easy check in with close parking.
Some of the rooms had towels rolled up to block the under door gap which seemed very strange to me like maybe they were fumigating that room. We booked too separate rooms and they were given on two separate floors, while my room was clean, modern with a fan. The other room looked completely different, a little out dated and no fan.
The best things about the George Hotel are the parking, the Italian Restaurant that shares the building and the town centre location. All of which are as billed. There was also a wonderful electric fan that definitely did its job.
Stayed in room 11. This is a fire exit room which means that the only window is a door onto an external stairwell that anyone can access from below. The room door is lockable but by breaking glass someone can get in to your room to escape a fire…. Also the big green fire exit light shines all night….. all of which was not advised at check in. Health and safety and security concerns aside….. There was a real lack of light bulbs. Of the 8 lamps possible, 4 were without bulbs at all…. The carpet was stained. The room was at first glance clean, until you got near, especially the canopy above the bed, which was pretty manky. The bed was comfortable, but a very odd wooden construction with nice sharp angled cupboard incorporated at sleeping head height. Smaller issues included the favourite smoking place for someone was outside the bathroom window, allowing cigarette smoke in the bathroom and Water pressure was low.
The location, everything in walking distance
No air con and no water pressure so having a shower was impossible
The location was lovely and the staff were super friendly and helpful! The bed was pretty comfortable and the room had all the basics needed for a short stay.
A fair price for a budget hotel which was located in the middle of Battle High Street, Room was clean but very basic.
We were told there would be hotel parking but ended up putting our car on the road. Room very basic, no phone. Asked the staff for extra pillows as very soft. It took over two hours for them to bring them at 22:00 hours. No breakfast / food facilities on site,
The lady on reception was friendly and helped us get checked in. The car parking was free if you were able to get a space in the small public carpark.
The bathroom was dirty, the main things like the loo and sink etc were clean. But when you looked a bit closer, there was a lot of mould on the shower tile grout, dirt in-between the shower tray and glass. A few hairs here and there. The linen was clean but the mattress and pillows had seen better days. They were thin and very uncomfortable. In the end, I had to lie some towels on the floor and sleep there as I couldn't get comfy on the on bed.
We enjoyed our evening as it was a cosy room great for money see we have 5 boys and don't get chance so everything was lovely
Nothing everything was great

Location
The four poster bed had a mirrored ceiling section to it a throw back to the seventies all of the furniture old and damaged the tiles on the en-suite old and grouting stained and chipped and broken tiles. There were stains on the carpet, very poor quality and wouldn’t recommend there were even plasters holding close cupboard doors, if o was staying more then one night I would have insisted on changing rooms of acturally asking for a refund
The location and the room was huge.
The shower temperature. It was too hot.
Price if your on a budget and want to to be in the centre of Battle it’s ideal ,
Parking a bit tight and no lift
Nothing
Hot room, window opened onto busy main road with constant traffic noise. Floors so uneven it made me dizzy. Rickety staircase to room, thin mattress. Left after one night as couldn’t sleep. Booked two nights but after one night as no sleep. Asked for money back and not resolved.
lovelly location
great resturant next door
Good location and the stuff was helpful
The George is great value for money , room clean, can't understand why we needed photo i.d for checkin ?? some parts need a little TLC like the stair carpets.Any one with mobility problems maybe request a ground floor room.
Not having a lift, I know because of the building it is not possible and next time we visit we will request a ground floor room. Reception staff a little straight faced.
Ideal locatinon for Battle, being very central. The Thai restaurant alongsider serves good food that is freshly cooked rather than heated up. Front desk is not always manned.
The location is great. Battle is such a wonderful little town to visit.
There was rarely someone on reception so it was hard to ask any questions, the heat was crazy during our visit but the fan supplied was filthy. The shower in one of the rooms that I booked was ridiculous, shower head blocked up and the positioning of it meant that anyone over 2 foot would have it positioned at chest level. And the fixture was broken. No breakfast on property
Nothing
Dirty Third floor without a lift Shower only worked if you held it down As the room was I. The eves you couldn’t be more than 6ft tall consequently when stood in shower your head touch the ceiling Disgusting
Location was great.
The bed was not very comfortable with the springs being very prominent and you really felt them. The bathroom was shabby and the basin tap had spun to face the wall.
good value , in central location
Could do with updating, and a lick of paint. Had tea/coffee but no cups, told the person on the desk but still no cups
location and price. it was quiet and decor was satisfactory also Italian restuarant below was excellent
staff at reception were indifferent
Zentrale Lage, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis
Very good location in Battle. For what I paid it was good value.
Not really for disabled people.
Great price
Needs new mattesses
I had a really disappointing stay. There was so much noise in the hotel in the evening and one guest shouting so loudly for so long. The floorboards above me were the loudest I have ever heard in a hotel and this was unpleasant at close to midnight when the guests returned to their room. I could not keep the window open and the cold tap in the bathroom seemed to so close to coming off. Not a comfortable stay and I cannot believe what I had to pay for the experience!
All I can say is it was clean
The staff went early no batteries in tv remote Had to go buy own milk for coffees Although not hotels fault was woken at 1am by noisy residents Bed was past its best spring noises were horrendous
Everything was satisfactory
Just the stairs climbing as I was very tired
Te zachte bedden
Quiet peaceful,adequate parking n value for money.🙂
A few minor inoperative items.
