Beautiful setting and friendly staff.

Quel bel endroit situé dans une baie! La chambre/ suite très spacieuse avec belle deco et belle salle de bain! Restaurants sur place , avons dejeuné et souper, c’était très bon.
Rien
It was clean
There was no enough mirror in the room Not enough staff in the restaurant
Bed was very comfortable Restaurant has great view on the lake. Good and generous buffet breakfast
Rooms bit old and smelly
The location and resort property itself are lovely. Being situated right on the water provides beautiful views, and the restaurant is definitely worth trying. We had a great overall dining experience, and the food was delicious. That said, we did find it to be quite overpriced for what was offered. Our server was attentive initially but unfortunately disappeared toward the end of our meal, which was disappointing. Despite that, the beautiful setting and quality of the food made the restaurant a highlight of our stay.
We were extremely disappointed with some parts of our stay. During the two nights we were there, the pool and sauna were unavailable, which was a significant disappointment, especially as these were amenities we were expecting to enjoy during our stay. Unfortunately, we also found the staff to be quite unfriendly and not particularly accommodating. Our interactions felt very transactional, with little effort to make us feel welcome. There was no attempt to ask how our stay was when we checked out, and when we passed staff throughout the property, we did not received even a simple hello or greeting. The biggest issue, however, was the location of our room. Our room was directly above rooms that appeared to be occupied by staff, and the music coming from the room below us was extremely loud and disruptive. It continued for hours at a time and made it very difficult to relax and enjoy our stay (especially on a rainy day when we wanted to decompress in our room). Overall, we expected a much more welcoming and comfortable experience. Unfortunately, the unavailable amenities, lack of hospitality, and excessive noise made this stay disappointing.
Beach was nice. View from balcony was great - peaceful and quiet place. Staff were friendly, and room was clean!
Lot's of stairs up to our room - with lots of stuff, it was not super great for one night. Had issues with the AC - was freezing when we arrived, but then it wouldn't go on again and felt very warm. Likely just user error though.
Sehr schöne Lage am See, Restaurant, Schwimmbad, Fitnessbereich vorhanden
Great beach
51 steps to our room
Excellent staff and the food at the Forest Restaurant was very good.
Great location water activities for kids.
Property needs an update, cleaning windows exterior. Leaking taps exterior porch lights not working , and the pancake machine needs to be replaced. Staff kept wasting there time always fixing it. I thought an automatic pancake maker that’s new and works. Would save staff a lot of time.
The lake location is lovely
Noise - no sleep due to noisy families / corridors used as play grounds. The people above us were up all night. Drinks on balconies until the early hours of the morning. No entertainment. Bedding ropey. No cosy bar area for adults. The beach snack bar didn’t have anything gluten free. The staff tried hard with gluten free but the wait staff need to communicate to the chef. Monday break staffing was lacking, people helping themselves to breakfast which isn’t good for allergies. Not enough shade/brollies on beach. Expensive for what we got. Sadly the setting is lovely but the rest needs work. Lots of door slamming and fire doors being propped open. Staff were lovely and tried to sort the night noise issue out but unfortunately in the three nights we were there we got zero sleep.
Beautiful Resort with very nice staff. Amazing view from the balcony and the beach it self. The Resturant is a plus. Very good breakfast and very organized. I love it I will come back and offer it to my family and friends as well. Thank you 🙏
Quiet location with a nice beach on the water, great view from the balcony, updated room with good AC, pleasant staff, ok breakfast that could be improved by small tweaks (I supplemented with my own berries, Greek yoghurt and sourdough bread).
I’ve been coming here for 4 years to paddle
I liked everything
This is our second time at the resort. I like that it is located close to Killbear Provincial Park and also has a nice beach on a beautiful like. It provides kayaks and a canoe. We used kayaks last time. The lake is very nice. Great for swimming and water sports. What I like the most is the food at the hotel. The breakfast is the best. Plenty if hot options and never crowded. They also have a very nice restaurant. Pickerel dinner was outstanding. The place is clean. Beds were comfortable.
Both times we stayed in one of the 2-story buildings. The rooms are outdated. The faucet was leaking, the bathroom door would not close. Bathroom needs renovation badly.
The bed was comfortable.
Floor under the bed was dirty - hasn't been cleaned in a very long time by the looks of it. Wall was scratched and missing paint - blue wall and paint was missing so large white areas Couch and chair cushions were ripped Had to book a time for breakfast - even though they say it is between 8-11 you have to book a dedicated time Bathroom fan did not work No glassware for drinks - ice bucket available but no glasses to put the ice in Fireplace gas turned off and not working - website does not indicate this - paid extra for a king room with fireplace Front desk does not answer calls - multiple calls and emails went unanswered during the stay - an no one available at the desk when you go in Front desk staff unfriendly Based on our stay, we would not recommend this property unless significant improvements are made to both the facilities and customer service.
The view outside of the lake is beautiful. That’s where it ends. Beach is full of geese and poop. The deluxe room was recently renovated, and it was ok except for the broken window that doesn’t close. Outside of the room is dated, dirty, and old. The highlight was canoeing around the lake. There is a shortage of employees. We cut our stay short, and wouldn’t stay here again.
Room is very tired and needs updating. Furniture is dated and past its prime. Fireplace gas is turned off in summer months and there is a chill and would be lovely to use this birthday weekend getaway. Water pressure in bathroom sink is poor. Definitely underwhelmed and won’t rush back.
The location was great the view was amazing and property is beautiful
None
Almost everything. Room was spacious and clean. Main reason we keep coming to Grand Tappattoo is Lake and Beach. All day restaurant is also very important and is a quality one.
Please bring back the paddle boats (water bicicles). We liked them very much during our previous stays. Also, most of umbrellas on the beach need to be replaced or fixed.
Charming location, very nice room with updated bathroom, comfortable bed, lot of parking space. Friendly and helpful staff.
Clean, new and food was good
Breakfast wasn’t early enough
I like the property and setting. I also love access to the lake with canoes and kayaks.
The breakfast was repetitive. I stayed in the 4th floor section that was exhausting to climb the stairs. I would not recommend it to anyone who is not in peak physical shape. The trains that blow their horn. It's loud and not necessary. Through all hours of the night.
The location on the lake is amazing! The Hotel probably once was a top hotel but it seems maintenance was neglected for the last few years. Nice pool, good outdoor facilities (canoes, paddleboard, kayaks, etc.). The restaurant was amazing! Excellent chef, excellent food!
Seems the management is sweating the asset, saving on maintenance and on staff. The check-in was a nightmare. We had requested a ground floor room due to one disabled person in the party. We wrote to them twice and did not get an answer. On check-in, the guy showed us an apartment on the "ground floor" - a flight of stairs, 10 steps up. After a lot of deliberation and back and forth we got a room accessible without stairs. Then he claimed we had only paid one of two rooms despite everything was prepaid. Another half hour back and forth and consulting the management. Finally, lots of things not working (faucets running, heating controls broken, dryers missing from the wall fixings, handle for the window missing, etc etc etc). Also the waitresses in the restaurant was completely overworked as there was only one for a big restaurant. The poor girl worked her backside off and did an excellent job but every other restaurant would have had 4 waitresses for the same size. Complements to her for managing still!!!
We had a fabulous lunch at the restaurant today! The food was really good and the service was great! Each of us had a different dish and each dish was yummy!! Kayla was our server and she was very professional and personable! Actually, she was lovely!! The food is fairly priced when you compare the prices to the other restaurants in the Parry Sound area. We’ll be back soon!!!
Beautiful beach, room was quite comfortable, food in the restaurant was good. We were only there briefly for a wedding in Parry Sound. We didn't really get to appreciate everything they had to offer.
Lokatie was echt heel mooi
Douche was niet schoon. Lagen de lange haren nog erin en op de grond. Spiegel van kast was kapot. Bedden kraakten erg
Nice location
After driving 3 hours we arrived to be informed that the local railroad crossing was to be closed the next day from 7-2 basically leaving us with no option but to get up at 5:30 grab a fast breakfast and leave before being trapped or wait until 2pm to leave. When we asked if we could get a 1pm instead of 11am check out due to the inconvenience we were told in no uncertain terms that the cleaning staff had to prepare for the next day’s guests. We decided to go early ruining our day and leaving a bad taste for the venue. One bright note, their chef created the best French onion soup I have ever tasted being a world traveller…even better than the Bombay Bicycle Club!
I'm so happy we found this place! the view from the restaurant, the lake, the beach, the pool! we had a really great time! so close to Parry Sound with all the shops and things to explore. we are definitely coming back!!!
there are no hiking trails if that's your thing, you will need to drive a little.
Location by lake is awesome, great views, nice indoor pool with good facilities
We stopped in for an overnight stay on the first day of a road trip. A cold, windy mid-week April, but our room was cozy and bright. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast the next morning before hitting the road. Excellent value and great service.
Indoor pool, food was good
Room had no heat when we arrived on a cold March day, took awhile to walk m up
Sehr schönes großes Zimmer mit Kamin. Sehr gemütlich hervorragendes Frühstück.
Staff were very helpful and great to chat with. Location is fantastic. Food is great. Excellent value for the money.
Given the month, the weather was not great. The hotel cannot change that. The hotel is in rural area, so internet access is not the best. Good enough for emal, etc, but maybe not streaming.
It was clean, fun, friendly staff and lots to offer
The bathrooms def need updated and some seats on pool need replaced, bottom of them were all rusted and broken
The location is good.
Check in from 3 pm, but when we came administrator told that our room is not ready and we have to wait. We waited till 5:30 to check in without any explanation or apology, I was disappointed.
My friends and I had a fantastic mini getaway at the Grand Tappattoo Resort, the room was comfortable, the views were spectacular. We were pleasantly surprised of all the amenities this resort had to offer that was included in the price, for example a hot breakfast, indoor pool, sauna, workout room, lovely sandy beach with paddleboards, kayaks, canoes and floating trampoline and dock to use, firepits, BBQ's, trails and a beautiful restaurant right on the water. We enjoyed a delicious pan fried pickerel while watching the sunset over the lake, then wandered down to the beach to lay in the lounge chairs to star gaze and watch shooting stars. Otter Lake is large with several narrow channels and bays perfect for paddling! The staff were very friendly and attentive. It is only 8 minutes from Parry Sound. We highly recommend this resort and are planning our next visit there!
Great location on the lake with a private beach.
We had a person on a wheelchair and they didn’t offer us accessible room. We had to climb 8 stairs to our room. However I called before and asked for that.
I like location, the lake is nice and beach is well maintained. There were several kayals that guests could use. The breakfast waas good and dinner at the restaurant was excellent.
everything was good
The rooms were nice. Bed was comfortable. Lake was nice. Nice that we could use canoes, kayaks and paddle boats.
Bathroom floor had been redone which was nice but it was too high for the door the shut easily. Also, doors' paint was badly chipped. Hallways seemed dirty. There was what looked like a used kleenex thrown on the staircase to our room, and it was there all weekend. Pool was nice but looked kind of cloudy and a bit dirty. There was only small adult life jackets available. Also, we had breakfast at 10am. There was no bacon or eggs. Also, the pancake machine was not available until we were just about done eating.
Breakfast was very good.
Nice quiet resort
Goose poop
Beautiful location and great amenities at the hotel. Enjoyed the sauna, pool, and kayaks for the lake! Food at the restaurant was amazing for dinner. Good selection at breakfast. Would’ve loved to have been able to stay longer.
When we arrived told dinner needed reservations and only had late times available. Weren’t able to eat until around 9pm. Would’ve been good to be told this when you make the booking.
Heather is an amazing member of the team and made our stay fantastic!! Thank you so much 🙏 Loved the whole experience and will 100% be back again!! Additionally, the food was delicious! Hats off to the chefs and servers 🤗
One of the best breakfasts I've had - nice variety to choose from & quality (temperature, doneness) was great. The location is a treat - quiet views of the lake surrounded with trees in full autumn colours. Warm enough outside to enjoy time on the balcony.
Nothing comes to mind.
The e location. Best place I e ever woken up in and had breakfast at - and the breakfast the breakfast is absolutely top notch. Close to many places in a beautiful part of Ontario
Bit dates - but hey, the location and all else trumped all of that. It was perfectly comfortable, warm, quiet.
I loved the view, beachfront, pool facilities, restaurants, and good breakfast!
Unclean — it was so messy, my room wasnt ready on time. I checked in at 4pm when it should’ve been 3pm. And when I reached my room, saw that the door was open. And I saw a trash bag with a dust pan on the table. Meaning the housekeeper wasnt done with their cleaning. Hooks were off in the bathroom, place was dirty. Sheets had stains too. My parents werent happy
All inclusive Lake ,restaurants ,pool,
All great
The hall was dirty
Location by the lake was fabulous. We had a balcony & large beds. Good breakfast.
Tired elements to the cabin, bathroom, dirty windows. A noisy water system, endless rushing water.
I love the room and bathroom clean and spacious I didn’t like hallways never clean dirty and old carpet garbage cans full
Lots to do and friendly staff. It's a gem for a casual getaway. We use it frequently as a launching point for The Massasauga Provincial Park which is 15 minutes away. Facilities could use some upgrades.
Tolle Lage in der Natur. Ruhig gelegen, sehr naturnah.
Alles sehr abgewohnt und renovierungsbedürftig.
Nice property with nice beach and canoes and kayaks available free of charge.
They have an outside patio that has several areas that the bricks have caved in. It’s very dangerous to walk on.
Good
It was my daughter birthday gateway. Loved the dinner, the simple duplex room. Just facing the water. Super clean. The jacuzzi was working in the room. Loved the sauna and the pool. Enjoyed breakfast. Special thanks to Megan the front desk, Kusuri the waiter and other staff that we don’t know the names.
Great place. Exceptional customer service!
Catered to dietary needs at breakfast, above and beyond and even remembered us the next day. The vibe was warm and hospitable. 1 point i want to mention is that there were no more pool towels and no way to call for sime more. Didnt want to call emergany line. 839pm saturday.. Will definitely stay again!
Friendly staff, clean room, restaurant on site, ability to walk and enjoy scenery. Lovely view from balcony. We stayed longer than intended originally, but it was well worth it. We were like family by the time we left.
Fantastic stay
We had perfect views of the lake…
Check-in was a breeze coming into the resort. They asked us if we'd be dining in with them for din
I like the location itself — a good view and a nice small beach. Our room was also pretty nice; it seems to have been renovated not long ago. The pool is big and has a comfortable temperature. The only thing I really don’t like is the food in the restaurant — no fresh fruits or vegetables for breakfast, and everything else is either fried or contains a lot of sugar.
Exceeded expectations - staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was tidy and functional. Extras such as canoes, kayaks and paddle boards for water activities was a pleasant surprise.
Beautiful lake with a private beach. You had use of canoes, kayaks or stand up boards which was great.
Very guiet peaceful place.
Sehr schön gelegenes Resort mit tollen Aktivitäten- Möglichkeiten wie Schwimmen, Laufen, Pedalöfahren, Kanue und Kayak
Staying at the Grand Tappatoo Resort is a favorite of ours because it's close to family who live nearby. The rooms are clean and adequate, with comfortable beds and a beautiful setting. The staff is always very accommodating and friendly.
Since there are no elevators, you'll need to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs. The rooms aren't very soundproof, and the hallway floors could use a clean.
Great place I will be back
Setting, free firewood, cozyness, restaurant nice
Beach needed mild daily cleaning, rake on shore and poop from geese could be picked up . More paddle boats.
A beautiful resort on a beautiful lake! Breakfast was lovely! Beds were comfy, the lake view balcony was a nice touch! My only complaint is that the jetted tubs needed a deep clean(vinegar with water and run jets.) The shower was nice and the room size was great!
Out of the way
everything is perfect, except people coming there to party and you`ll hear everything thru thin walls. As comfortable as beds are-prepare to being unable to sleep
Staff were very welcoming, helpful, and attended to guests in every way. The property was well kept and rooms very clean. Beds very comfortable.
Breathable linens or cotton sheets would be nice. The pilot light on the fireplace made the room very warm and difficult to get proper air flow.
Staff (especially waiter staff) were rude, our room was filthy to the point that they upgraded us to a cottage to apologize. The Amenities are not as described. We appreciated that at the price it wasn’t going to be the JW on Rosseau, but no matter what price you pay, friendly and clean are expected.
Nice looking resort. Lots of things to do related to water activities.
Pool and view
Room floor wasn't clean and surfaces were sticky.
Nice breakfast buffet!
Poor maintenance... Armrest on terrace chair fell off ...
Loved the location & amenities. Staff were great extremely polite & helpful!
Too many stairs, not great for individuals with mobility issues. Restaurant was very slow & food was not great!
We liked it.
We loved the private beach and options for paddling/kayaking around the lake. That's where the compliments end. The hotel is woefully understaffed and our "suite" was outdated with a broken TV (broken wires and a shoddily cut hole in the wall), broken phone, and lack of sheets provided for the pull out sofa. Lightbulbs were burned out and AC did not seem to work. We tried speaking to staff but they seemed overworked and not really able to help with most things. Service in the restaurant was hit and miss, very slow the first night (1 server for the whole place) and some food running out at the breakfast buffet. The worst part is when I tried to get some kind of compensation (mostly for the TV and lack of sheets), they refused to communicate with Expedia, so beware booking with them on this platform.
The beach
Everything. Location, beach, rooms, pool, sauna... Good breakfast with enough choice. Friendly and helpful staff. Have visited many times and will continue to visit again.
No complaints
Spent two nights at the resort in a "suite" at the end of August (1 king bed, 1 pull-out sofabed). The private beach area was great - lots of chairs and selection of boats/paddleboards for use. Because the resort was a little quieter, it was easy to access the equipment. The compliments end there. The room we were given (again, a "suite") was pretty run down. The TV was not working when we arrived (staff tried initially to say this was a service provider issue, but only our room was affected?). We were told no one was able to look at the TV until the next day, so it was broken for over half our stay and when it was finally fixed, it was confirmed that the wires were broken (through a crudely cut out hole in the drywall). The phone was also broken (no one could hear me speaking), so I needed to walk to the front desk every time there was an issue. This was never fixed. Although the room had a sofabed, I realized when pulling out the bed the first night, that there were no sheets provided (just a very old comforter and some pillows), so apparently I was meant to sleep on a bare mattress. The next morning, I asked the front desk for bedsheets, to which I was told someone would bring them. Several hours later, someone came to the door, threw a plastic bag to my daughter and ran off. When I opened the bag, it was....towels and shampoo. Given the choice of going back to the front desk (because, no phone), or sleeping on the bare mattress, I slept on the couch (not pulled out). Generally, the suites are lackluster: several lightbulbs burned out/flickering, screen doors were damaged, the flooring was old and uneven in parts, and there didn't seem to be any AC or fan in the living area (where I slept). For the price, people are much better off saving their money and getting a basic room. The staff were all nice enough, but it was clear the place was understaffed (i.e. 1 person working as server/hostess/dishwasher at the restaurant and no maintenance people), which led to mistakes and slow service. The food at the restaurant was great, but service was also painfully slow. After reading all this, if you still decide to book here, do NOT use a third party. I was told at check out that I couldn't get any kind of compensation because I booked with Expedia, then the hotel management refused to respond to Expedia after they tried to contact them, so I got no direct acknowledgement or compensation from the hotel for this experience.
Privat gelegen an einem kleinen See.
Cleanness of the room
Rooms were nice and spacious, lake view was beautiful. Water amenities + pool were a bonus. Good bang for buck
Jesus, Heather, Tony and Angela were the cat's meow! Great place, cool vibe. These people worked hard. The resort was a bit understaffed but these people made up for it.
This is a very family friendly resort with a great beach and lots of waterfront equipment. The weather was chilly, so we couldn't enjoy the water as much as we would have liked. The bed was wonderful and we enjoyed the in room gas fireplace to take the chill off. The proximity to Parry Sound was wonderful and allowed us to enjoy what this town had to offer. Great biking in the area with a super bike shop beside a wonderful farmer's/craft market.
We loved our stay here. We will definitely be back. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a sense of freedom here. My family looks forward to coming back for years to come.
Great outdoors - lakes, trees, v scenic. Food was exceptional in the restaurant. Great room, bathroom, balcony. Swimming pool and sauna lovely. Sauna needs a cold shower and a clock perhaps.
Service was excellent on the first night but being short staffed meant we had to wait over an hour for our order to be taken, on the second. It was very difficult for the two poor young waitresses on duty.
