Cerritos Surf Town Beach Front Hotel and SPA

Beautiful pool and adjoining restaurant and bar. Food was excellent, staff very friendly and courteous.

The staff at the restaurant were very nice, helpful and friendly. Beautiful hotel by the beach. Rooms are nice and clean. The front desk clerk rude and unfriendly. The cat had a better personality than her. Rigel is her name! She needs to be retrained. Liked Gabriel and Vilma by the restaurant/bar.

The location is amazing, but the room that we had did not have a private bathroom.

I don't think I've ever left a bad review for anything before but I think there are some things that people should be warned about. First, the good: the location is beautiful and the restaurant was excellent. An argument could be made that that's enough to warrant a stay here. Next, the OK: the state of our room was pretty shabby. The loveseat was broken, a toilet was consistently running, the refrigerator and kitchenware was kind of gross. The roofs are literally just palm leaves so you can hear everything happening around you - I could clearly hear a couple's argument in the casita next door and their phone's alarm going off repeated the next morning. We aren't too picky so we would have been happy to look past all of this. However.... There were some truly bad things about this stay: First, the door to our casita (#32) didn't lock. Or rather, the lock engaged but didn't stay engaged when you tried to open it. I don't know if this is the case for all the doors or just ours. As a result, some drunk people broke into our casita at night while we were in bed thinking it was there's. It could have been much worse that confused drunk people breaking in. And second, the pool was dirty/cloudy. I hoped it was just from sandy people coming in from the beach. But the kids spent hours in the our pool both days of our stay and all 3 kids in our group came away with horrible ear infections. Our daughter is three days into antibiotics and no improvement yet. Same with the others.

Overall, this is a great resort in an amazing location. There are however, some things that made it a 4 star stay rather than 5. First, they put us directly next to the kitchen and loud restaurant music, despite their low occupancy and they refused to move us until the following day. As a result, my baby had trouble sleeping, and thus so did I. Second, the swimming pool is beautiful and large; but the surface is so rough that it will cut up your feet if you're not careful. My kids swam with water shoes to avoid cuts. Third, the restaurant is over priced and service is mediocre. The servers stand around instead of proactively picking up all the leftover beer bottles and towels surrounding the pool. Finally, I found it off-putting that the resort charges extra for their beach chairs and umbrellas. That's typically included with the cost of a hotel. We ended up buying a surf lesson from a shop down the beach that was less expensive and included chairs & umbrellas all day. On a more positive note, the location cannot be beat. I love that it's a smaller property instead of a giant hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Gabriel was the most helpful and friendly employee- gave us a lot of great recommendations. We would return again.

Nice hotel with a great pool and hot tubs right on the beach. Cerritos is pretty small and spread out so being right in the action is what you want. Relaxing, good food and drinks.

The casa was starting to show ware. The door wouldnt lock the cupboards were hanging off hinges. For $500 a night we expected better.

My wife and I returned to Cerritos Surf Town after visiting with our kids five years ago. Cerritos Beach has gotten busier over time, but the experience at CST is still very relaxing and comfortable. Staff are welcoming. We spent a lot of our time sitting on our ocean view hut's porch watching passing whales spout, surface, and breach, and the rest of the time walking the miles of little used beach to the south. Barracuda Cantina has moved just to the north of CST, so fresh fish tacos are literally a short walk up the beach. CST is not fancy, but it is a great value for the price.

This is our third year staying here. The grounds are beautiful, excellent service and fantastic bar/restaurant! We also appreciate that they are dog friendly.

The room was awful. If you want toilet privacy your roommate has to leave. No clothes iron, ironing board, clothes hangars, storage, water pressure. Nothing. I would not go back.

While the beachfront location was fantastic, we paid $400 plus a $30 pet fee for a room with a double bed and no hot water.

Quieter spot in a surfing area.

No WiFi in rooms one row back from beach, outlets didn’t work and water off one morning. ‘Mountain View rooms’ had no windows. Great location but property needs work and front desk staff needs customer service training.

Close to the beach

I would love to give the place a better review. The location is perfect, the pool area is great (pool could be a tad warmer), and the staff was generally great. We could not overlook the overwhelming septic smell around our casita. I brought it to the attention of the gentleman at the office but nothing was done to remedy it (the tank was left uncovered because of some work being done). We travel to Mexico often and are used to the showers off gassing a bit but this was something else. It was difficult to sit on the patio.

Beautiful location on the beach.

It was pleasantly quiet, after we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel near Cabo. The staff were pleasant, the food was good and the beach was good (you can't go in the water at the Hard Rock beach because it is dangerous there).

The team at CST will make sure you will feel safe, happy and comfortable! Be nice and grateful and speak kindly and you will love this spot!

Property is beachfront and a comfortable palapa style room with a/c for the bedroom. Pool was well maintained and everyone was friendly. I would definitely come back again.

Cerritos Surf Town is perfectly located on the beach with great views, several restaurants, and surf. The facility could use some improvements but the location trumps all. I love some of the enhancements they have put in but believe it could be so much more and can make it a premier hotel on the beach.

Very quiet, sleeping surf side Casita! The waves crashing on the beach was a rhythmic sound machine all night long. It was magical! Room looked right onto the beach. Room was simple, clean and met all of our needs. The pool was a great place to hang out too!

The ultimate place to stay at Playa Cerritos. Literally at the beach, 100ft from waves. Villa, although outdated and in need of renovation had spectacular ocean views. Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant and bar directly at beach. Good but expensive meals. Big pool with beds, loungers and chairs. Both jacuzzis did not work. Walk to 2 beach bars and restaurants. 20 minutes from Todos Santos.

Nice place, relaxing, dog friendly, kid friendly

We loved our little bungalow. Staff was friendly. Everything was clean. Pool was amazing. Plus we were able to boogie board. It was a perfect place to stay.

About 8 miles from Todos Santos, right on the beach. Little beach huts. Nothing fancy, no TVs, ect just a true r&r vacation. Units can be updated with new curtains, paints, and deeper cleaning for improvements.

We loved the view and closeness to the beach, we watched the surfers and whales from the patio. The ocean and beach were clean and the water was clean and warm. We had fun playing in the waves the king bed and pillows were super comfy! The beach and gardens were well lit but thankfully did not shine in the windows. the sound of the ocean was amazing! The suite was clean and spacious. We felt safe. We loved the huge pool and the hot tubs but thought the pool needed at least a couple underwater lights. There was nothing making where the steps were to get into the pool, no railings, and the hot tubs were hard to get in and out of. The gardens and premesis were well-kept and pretty to walk through. We were not happy with the lack of kitchen equipment (no microwave, toaster, pots, basic seasonings/oil) and there was no counter space. We didn’t like the surrounding roads. We suggest having a plastic bin on the patios to wash the sand off your feet and guest books in the rooms. A book of things to see and do in the area would have also been a nice touch. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.

The room is huge with a full kitchen if you want to cook meals. There is sand inside which is to be expected. The restaurant has some decent options for dinner with a higher then average price range. We found blood on one of the pillow cases. Loved the hammock. The pool was cool and the hot tub broken during our stay.

Really lovely setting right on the beach. Great pool area with swim up bar. Water was a tad dingy but still nice. Stayed in a bungalow overlooking the beach. Spectacular sunset views. Bungalow was large with a comfy bed and big bathroom. No real complaints. Definitely can recommend.

I was skeptical that the property was located off the beaten path, but it was right on the beach with a great pool and amazing staff. Easy access to Todos Santos or Cabo, and we did not have a rental car. Staff assisted with all our requests, my son made friends everywhere, the food was delicious and the waves were working every day. I definitely recommend staying here.

Overall, this place is amazing. Staying in a beachside villa is so relaxing and beautiful. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. There were workers doing renovations and general upkeep all over the resort (but, in no way disruptive to our stay). I'm sure some of this was due to the hurricane that came through a few weeks ago, but the overall resort was clean and in great shape. Cerritos does have some electricity issues, but that is an overall city issue. I would absolutely stay here again if I go back to Cerritos

Excellent location right on the beach which was exactly what we wanted. We had a slight problem with charges from the restaurant on our first day but Pepe was quick to correct. Ignacio was very accommodating when the power was out for a number of hours due to a car accident. Thank you!

This is my second time staying here and it is always amazing. The staff are extremely friendly and truly care about making your stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is perfect and both room types I've stayed in were perfect.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Beautiful beach. Feels secluded at night. Fun to watch surfers. Ten minute walk to the fabulous Barracuda Cantina. Renting a car is helpful to go to Todos Santos.

We love the Cerritos surf town for the location. It is right on the beach with great views! We had the studio which is very rustic. No air conditioning and a small full size bed. We had a fan but a screen on the slider door would have been nice to keep the bugs out at night and let air in.

Awesome place to stay. Super friendly staff, food on site was excellent. All kinds of folks there, a few older heavy drinkers, families, newly weds, etc….love that they’re dog friendly. Magical little spot.

Great for young surfers or family groups. Refrigerator was great and bottle of water available. Kitchen gas stove didn’t work and was dangerous. Smell of sewer in bathroom not pleasant. No hot water in shower. There are physical building items need updates.

The hotel is on a beautiful beach and has amazing views from the room and pool. The hospitality and service were impeccable. My boyfriend enjoyed surfing and I swam in the pool everyday.

We loved the property the only complaint was we could not get our room cleaned Check in Friday by Sunday we asked for clean up they did also on Monday 2 days service out of 5 nights. Staff was very friendly would stay there again. Maybe they had staffing issues

One word - filthy! Dirty bedding - crumbs in bed. Hair on pillows. Bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned. Pool had garbage and slime in it. Location is fabulous but the property is in desperate need of repair and maintenance. Rooms are dark and musty and furniture is old. Screen doors were falling off tracks. Staff (other than new front desk lady) seemed indifferent and less than engaged. It shows in how the property is being taken care of.

We were very excited to stay here, however upon checking in we were met with a very unclean bed. The sheets had clearly not been changed from the last guests as they were dirty, full of hair and sand. We requested new sheets and they came in to change them. The new sheets did not have sand or nearly as much hair but they were full of yucky looking yellow and orange stains. Not just a few stains. A lot of stains. The room amenities were adequate (fridge, sink and safe) but it was definitely cold at night, especially with the uncomfortable bedding. On the second and third days we woke up with red bite marks on our hands and feet. I had seen small bugs in the bed but I thought maybe they were sand or beach bugs so I tried to sweep some out of the bed sheets and ignore them. We didn’t get much sleep because the sheets just felt like they were crawling with something. We did some research after getting more bites and they were definitely bed bugs. Gross!!! Though the beachfront was a nice view, our stay was extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant and I would not recommend staying here! We’ll plan to return to Cerritos Beach area, but we’ll stay across the road at the other hotel, So Far So Good. Much cleaner and more comfortable, even without the beachfront property. Not the review I was hoping to give, but beware if you book a Studio Ocean Front room, chances are it will be dirty and have bugs. Maybe the larger, more expensive rooms are cleaner?

Great property right on the beach and with a pool and hot tub. Easy access to the surf and beach walking. Staff were helpful and communicated well. The property needs some maintenance and the rooms are sparse, however, it remains a fun place and good value.

Cerritos Surf Town is in a perfect location and the staff was very friendly. We will be back!

This place was exactly what we were looking for. Not too busy, quiet, clean and everything was conveniently within walking distance. The beach, pool, food, surf rentals were all very close. It was beautiful, quiet and the staff was so nice and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

Great surf beach. Great staff. Room 8 does not have A/C but definitely not needed since it was very chilly at night and the thatched roof is open to the night air. Since the room has an open type roof, you can sleep with the sound of the waves all night, was very relaxing. Bedding was wonderful, plenty of covers. Great porch, right on the sand at the ocean to sit out at night. There was no hooks or bar to hand any clothes. The front desk provided a blow dryer after I walked over to ask for one. There is a refrigerator in room and utensils. Curtains do not actually fit the size of the windows well enough to close all the way. I had a clip to help. The food was good and large portions. Margarita cost $10. Very large steak Nachos, $12.

Cerritos Surf Town casita was perfectly situated on beautiful Cerritos beach. It was quite & clean but unfortunately the casita is in dire need of updating. Peeling paint, stained toilet, cold shower and extremely uncomfortable seating and bed. Both hot tubs on the property were luke warm. Not worth $220US/night.

Beachfront 1bdrm casita was wonderful. Staff very attentive in relaxing atmosphere.

The service was impeccable. We were met at the gate by a guard who directed us where to park, escorted us to reception and carried our bags. Check in was informative and swift. The rooms were much larger than it appears in the pictures with a very private bedroom. I had asked for sheets for the sofa bed and found they instead moved a queen size platform bed into the living room (which is large enough accommodate it without being crowded) and had it all made up for us. The kitchen is sparse but has what you need to reheat leftovers or make a simple meal. It took me a while to find the pots- but they are there on the top shelf of a very tall cabinet. The bathroom is gorgeous.

Was great! Highly recommend this place if you’re staying there. Things close around the area at 9pm so the hotel is kind of the latest thing in the neighbourhood.

I love This hotel. It’s not perfect or luxurious, but it’s a perfect representation of the Baja experiences… simple beautiful beachfront location, authentic Mexican style, a good vibe.

Amazing property and views!!

I hesitated writing this review because I love this place so much that I want to keep it all to myself! After spending a few nights in San Jose del Cabo and HATING the five star resort we were at were so happy and relived to pull onto the dirt road that lead us to Cerritos Surf Town. Now THIS is Mexico! The staff were so friendly and attentive, the pool was amazing, the view from our beach front villa was a dream. I really do not have any complaints. Most of our days were spent on our patio watching the grey whales migrate up north, relaxing on the beach outside our front door and eating delicious food. We had such an amazing time that we already booked our next trip out in March! We cannot wait! Thank you Cerritos Surf Town!

Really disappointed. Overpriced. After seeing all the reviews I was really excited to stay here but my place was dirty and falling apart. Upon using the bathroom for the first time I found hairs both on the sink and in my shower. The shower drain smelled so bad which permeated the entire place. Poor lighting, holes in the screens, struggled to open and close windows, paint chipping and falling off walls, this place is in desperate need of repair, I’ve stayed in Econo Lodges near the beach that were cheaper and nicer than this place

Absolutely the best!

Room was very worn. Only had 1 chair in it. I asked for another chair and housekeepers came looked around then left. I guess one person was supposed to stand up whenever in the room. Drinks at pool were $9 with no alcohol in them? Chairs around the pool are broken, no chairs or umbrellas set up on the beach. Hot tub was cold and not filled. Beach as always was beautiful.

Beautiful view with easy beach access. If you're looking to spend the entire trip at the beach or surfing - it's great! A little more rustic interiors however and not a lot of walking shops/food around. Great for outdoorsy folks!

We had an amazing time! The property was in a great location. Our casita was literally steps away from the beach! All the staff were super helpful and nice. It’s also close to some AMAZING restaurants! Everything is within a 15 min drive. We loved the quaintness of the property. We definitely be back!

Location cannot be beat! If you are looking for a place on a swimable, surfable beach, then this is the place. The actual rooms are very, very basic and not all that clean, but people were friendly, pool was great, beach was amazing.
