The Local - Riverside

Hot shower, fridge in room, and confortable bed. Lighting was excellent, roomy shower, and plenty of electrical outlets. They also had good food at good prices. Will return on my next visit. Good location.

Really everything was excellent.

The owner Yat, his family and the rest of the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, they made us feel right at home :) The hostel is in a good location and the room was very quiet at night time. The room was clean and had basic facilities I.e. kettle, cup and fridge. The balcony and room were very spacious. A good budget hostel in a great location with amazing staff.

Even though it was not really an issue for us as it was so hot, the shower lacked hot water.

L'emplacement est bien, à quelques mètres des berges de la rivière et de plein de bars, et près d'un marché aussi. La chambre que nous avions était correcte pour le prix, avec une clim fonctionnant bien et un grand lit plutôt confortable. Balcon aussi mais peu utilisé à cause de la chaleur et du fait qu'il donnait directement sur la rue (nous étions au 2e étage : attention aux escaliers pour ceux qui préfèrent éviter). L'équipe était assez sympathique. Possibilité de manger sur place en bas à toute heure.

En ce qui concerne notre chambre, nous avons juste trouvé que la salle de bain était assez vieillissante, avec une baignoire un peu abîmée aussi (mais bon, on ne vient pas pour prendre un bain...) ; le ventilatzur de plafond est aussi un peu vieillot et faisait du bruit. Si vous aimez le calme, évitez ce lieu le week-end (vous pourriez trouver cela bruyant du fait que les berges à deux pas deviennent piétonnes les samedis et dimanches soirs, avec beaucoup d'animation ; ou alors comme nous, vous mettez des bouchons d'oreille !).

The place is very well located and staff are exceptionally friendly. The bar is great (and cheap) too. Gives very nice "homy" vibes.

The manager, a westerner around 30's was always drunk, weeded up, and screwed up to the top, but kind when lucid.

Very much an old-school backpacker place. Don’t expect much in terms of facilities, just appreciate a clean space in a great location, with friendly helpful staff. I loved hanging out at the attached bar & being able to meet so many expats, all with amazing stories to tell.

A/C could be a bit stronger

There is a retaurant downstairs so food not a problem and very friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

The aircon is sometimes not switched on but if you ask theres no problem.

The rooms are quite rundown and so dull, tgere is not enough light. We had to climb the narrow stairs with our luggage. Bedsheets are old as well .

they don't have breakfast included, but the hostel is also a bar and restaurant, so you have plenty of options for that. Location is excellent, couldn't be better. great value for money and a huge plus is that you can pay with card!

the beds are usual for the region, but not for my back. Really hard mattresses and also; the toilet situation for the dorm is not the best, but you'll get by

I stayed in the Local riverside during Khmer new year and it was great. It’s close to everything and still calm if you just want to chill. The beds in the dormitory are big but you can also have a private room if you prefer. The must is Yat the owner and the others staff members like Nana who are very nice and welcome you as a friend. Also the food is very good. I definitely recommend to stay there.

Already been two times in this hostel and definetly will go back evertime in Phnom Penh. Thank you Yat

Unfortunately, it was not up to my standards. There were bugs crawling around on side table, the bath was duct taped and the sink was coming away from the wall. I can imagine the owners want to do well, and it must be really hard to make enough money to keep these places going, but I wouldn't stay again.

Nice accommodation. A small hotel in such an old style. The equipment is a bit shabby, but still functional. Nice, friendly and helpful staff. Ideal location. Right next to the market and the river promenade and a short walk to the Royal Palace and Wat Phnom. I recommend a room with a balcony!

Just minor things, I guess. The bathroom only had a small bar of soap, one sachet of hair shampoo and the rest of a roll of toilet paper. The sink was slightly detached from the wall and the crack in the bathtub was covered with duct tape.

Really a great place to stay. Staff is super nice and friendly! Serving great food and drinks. Nice place very close to the river, to restaurants and bars. Stayed in private room, was very comfortable. Really recommended to stay here!

No elevator. I'm 75 y/o I messaged them a week before I got there and ask for the lowest floor possible. They put me on the 3rd floor with steep stairs. They could have done better. Plus they lock you in at night. Like being in jail. My bathtub had duct tape holding it together and the water was only a small trickle. Not even enough to shower or shave' I booked for 3 nights and stayed only one. You can find better places at this price. I would not recommend this place

1. There is a long-term guest in the first bed, who never went out and was always in the room watching videos on his phone without headphones, even at 2am at night! I asked him to turn it down at night or use headphones, but the next night he continued disturbing with the sound at 2am. 2. I wanted to tell the manager, but there was a similar problem from his side. He plays loud music in the common area one floor down (even when nobody is there, maybe to discourage people from hanging out). But the speakers are next to the ceiling, so the sound from the speakers comes into the sleeping room. So finally, irritating video sounds at night + loud music from the morning from the manager. Disappointed.

Everything!!! The host is a kind guy, very helpful!!! They provide towels and locks...food is amazing....beer on draft...save place... perfect 😄!!!!

They also not returned my booking amount of next day while I left their accommodation. I paid booking amount on 1st day due to trust of booking.com. But after this bad experience I'll never go with booking.com and also I'll share my feedback to my network(relatives, friends and YouTube channel) and I'll make sure they never go ahead with booking.com

But the bathroom is bad

the location and the price are the factors that satisfying me the most. it just near by the riverside and few minutes walking can achieve royal palace. besides the reception is very kind and can speak English well, very nice.

I hope the bed could install the curtain because in the room, even in the hostel I hope a little bit privacy. And the water in the bathroom seems not strong enough. to sum up it just fit the price. hardly could we find another place with the low price.
