- large house like apartment - almost full kitchen (fridge a touch small) - the views!!! Well constructed to take advantage of the Inlet - free limes - the kids thought the carpeted stairs were great fun (do be warned the are slippery if you go to close to the inner corner, especially wearing socks - that was what the kids loved) - excellent location to access Nelson, loved watching the planes and boats from the front deck

- TV could do with an update (especially to one that can stream) - wasn’t clear that kids bedding is in the lounge (was more obvious afterwards when reviewing listing) - could use a second TV upstairs for once folk sleeping in Lounge - not an issue for us, but the only bathroom is on the lower floor, main bedroom is 2 floors up

There is no need for me to add more compliments to the property facilities or spot because they are amazing ..with just a simple glimpse, you know it. What impressed me is the speakers on the wall, on the two sides of the big window! And the host leaves the instruction there! That's so sweet. Just connect your phone with the player via bluetooth, turn off the lights in the room, sit down in front of the window, and play the music, Clair de Lune, Moonlight, Goldberg Variations...Accompaning with moonlit and sea waves, it feels like floating in a dream. Plz also read the host's story, sounds like a novel yet it is their real life story. Fantastic.

The only thing we noticed was the sound of a child banging and thumping in the flat above, but it stopped later in the evening.

The nautical theme and unique layout make this a really interesting place to stay, different than other spots we've stayed in NZ. The windows overlooking the bay make this a beautiful spot for sunset lovers.

A minor ant invasion when we arrived (quickly remedied), otherwise all was good!

Steep drive, but nessacary

The location is stunning, on top of the hill with amazing views. The loft is a fantastic place to sleep with more spectacular views. The place feels like a boat and my 11-year old loved the whimsical feel of it.

We were there in July, and it got very cold in the loft, even with the small space heater. Electric blankets would be helpful. The bathroom in the basement is very cold and inconveniently located two floors below the bedroom. The hairdryer is broken, which was a problem as we left at 6am in 5°C. The biggest drawback is the lack of a dishwasher, which for the cost, is just not acceptable. The kitchen had basic amenities.

Ich bewerte hier das Ferienhaus Crows Nest. Die Aussicht von hier aus ist gigantisch, ich buche dieses Haus immer wieder nur wegen der Aussicht über die Tasman Bay. Ich war bestimmt schon 10 mal in diesen Ferienhaus bei Ralph und Sally. Die Küche ist mit den Basics ausgestattet und Waschmaschine mit Trockner ist auch vorhanden. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Seit einpaar Jahren hat es auch eine Heizung (Wärmepumpe).

In der Küche müsste man mal den Herd und Backoden ersetzen, haben schon massive Gebrauchsspuren. Eine Geschirrwaschmaschine würde das Haus noch mehr aufwerten. Die Auffahrt zum Haus ist schon sehr steil, aber mit etwas Übung geht es gut.

Overall, the ambiance or vibe is very nice and only taken to the next level by the spectacular views. Layout and space are relaxing in itself. Location is convenient. Want to come back next visit to Nelson.

The house was so clean and tidy. The view is absolutely spectacular from both the bedroom and lounge area. Kitchen was great, well stocked cutlery and crockery. Bathroom was clean and warm, Master bedroom spacious and warm. I would definitely recommend for 2 adults and two kids.

Our friends took the sofa bed but said it was very uncomfortable... Perhaps this could be improved with a mattress topper so you don't feel the frame underneath.

Nothing to fault really. The view from the main room is amazing slightly interrupt by a couple of trees which I will cut if it is possible. The beds were comfy but no the sofa/chairs downstairs by the TV area. For the price, I will offer some TV channels like Netflix/Sky for the family to relax after a day out. Above are some suggestions for the owners but overall a really good stay.

It was a great view out to the sea and the hills in the background from the location up on the current hill.

The house is very clean and well maintained. The views are amazing with a lovely deck which has the afternoon sun and is a great place to watch the sun set.

The heat pump wasn’t working but I told the manager who will get it fixed for the next guests

Spectacular views, comfortable, spotless , great location and excellent communication.

The views are just absolutely stunning and kept us watching a long time during our 2 nights stay in the “LOOKOUT”. Inside the house it is even better than it looked on the photos. We loved the personal and nautical touches and especially the handmade seagulls. The atmosphere in the house is very warm and welcoming. We had everything we needed. It was great to see the sunrise from the bed and the sunset from the balcony. Nelson CBD is only a short drive away, but we decided to walk both evenings for dinner which took us about 30 minutes one way. If you return after dark it might be advisable to take a torch with you. We had our headlamps and were totally fine. We would definitely stay here again and can highly recommend staying in The Wheelhouse Inn.

Wonderful view of Tasman Bay and islands with Abel Tasman Mountains in the distance. awesome sunset. This is an excellent house with very good facilities and impressive nautical memorabilia.

If you don't have a car, it's a 2 km walk to town for shopping, and 1.5 km to excellent waterfront restaurants, which we enjoyed, although this walking may not suit everyone.

The view is absolutely stunning and it’s a great location. It was really well equipped and spacious and perfect for us.

The only negative is that there is quite a short sharp steep part as you turn into the drive and the car we hired did skid a little even when it was dry!

The view was stunning, we enjoyed the sunset from the terrace and later also from the lounge area inside. The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were clean, spacious and very well equipped. The info pack with recommendations and background story of the owners gave the stay a personal touch.

The views are real stunners. Close to central Nelson, but also a lot of privacy. Lovely patio. Loved the nautical theme as well.

We found the bed and pillows rather hard. It’s also an older house, and doesn’t have the newest appliances, but everything works.

This accommodation is exceptional and views are breathtaking from both inside and the outside decking area.

Parking could be challenging for some I think

I would have preferred the second bedroom (downstairs) have a queen/full bed rather than overlapping bunk beds. I ended up sleeping on the fold out couch instead.

- Second bedroom is tiny - it cannot people fit two people (in particular the top bunk bed due to the low ceiling) - Bedsheets were scratchy and felt like sleeping on cardboard

It’s ALL about the view. The Boat Shed Cafe nearby was fabulous.

Very dated / tired feel to the whole place. VERY hot, with no A/C beyond the living area.

Located on a hillside overlooking the bay, this B&B was definitely the best we had on the South Island so far. Cozy interior and a complete kitchen and a bedroom with a magnificent view. We stayed in the Captains Quarters and will recommend it to our friends.

Minor detail: When we arrived the cleaners were still there and they accidentally removed some items that we had put in the fridge.
