Provider-sourced guest reviews.
We had our evening meal there which was superb. Staff were really attentive and friendly. Good value, good parking for motorcycles and handy for the M4.
Room was a little dingy and cramped but for 1 night was fine.
Good location
Photos didn’t match the rooms. Didn’t feel very clean
Great location near to the M4, friendly guests, large car park. Breakfast was fabulous- lots of choice and huge portions
My single room had large cobwebs over the windows. Although they advertised food as being served the kitchen was closed- the only other 2 places to get food were Tesco express or the chippy which wasn’t ideal but I fully recognise that these things happen.
Breakfast Staff attentiveness Comfortable beds Good response and refund for early checkout for health reasons
No air conditioning on one of the hottest nights of the year
Breakfast and lunch excellent
Hotel in need of a refurbishment, breakfast area carpets not cleaned from night before , littered with food.
good food, amazing old building
Chiller fans running all night!
Amazing location Comfortable beds Excellent breakfast Friendly staff
The pub quiz and food were lovely.
The room was very basic; based on the reviews and word of mouth, we were expecting more. The dressing table stool was wobbly; it felt like we would've broken it. There was only one small bin, which was a bathroom bin - if you want guests to remain clean and tidy, you should provide another bin. An alarm went off repeatedly early in the morning of our checkout and woke us up. Some staff members were unfortunately not very welcoming or approachable. Many bikers go to the pub, so the constant noise of bikes revving was a little annoying.
Breakfast was brill
Bathroom Was not the cleanest
Heel gezellig en prima personeel. Leuke plek
De matras en/of bodem was gaar
We arrived quite late but the restaurant was still serving, the staff were very welcoming and the food excellent
It was noisy outside ( but it was Friday)
The staff were brilliant, friendly and welcoming .The atmosphere was so comfortable and friendly .The evening meal and the breakfast was lovely. The larger was a great pint and although I didn't have it looked like they had an extensive supply of good wines .
The bed ,new mattress definitely needed .The Sunday lunch .Drinks a bit expensive ,and it just needs a good dust and a new loo roll holder
Mycket charmigt med allt man behöver, bra läge mitt i byn, mysig restaurant, trevlig personal.
Staff were friendly. Breakfast very good
We had a superior king room. Bathroom was dated, shower not very powerful. Lots of dust around pipes in bathroom. Mattress needs replacing. Very soft & worn. Sunk down to hard surface. Carpet stained.
Great location, great staff, great food
Guests can be noisy coming and going late at night and early morning but not the hotels fault
Very central
Lucky to get a parking space., when someone left.
Dinner went well. Breakfast ok. Edge of single bed so soft that I fell out of bed when turning to check time. No resistance to downward pressure at edge.
All ok in general
Every thing about it
Nothing at all
Very good service and staff
Very good
Lovely staff and all very helpful. Let us check in and use our rooms to change for the wedding we were attending. Nice clean room, bathroom a bit dated but clean. The hotel provided the taxi contact and we had no problems booking both journeys to and from the wedding venue
Shower instead of one over the bath
Friendly & great location 🌸
Staff were super friendly, food was good.
Location and staff
Small bed Overall hygiene
The staff, without fail, were excellent. Friendly, helpful and efficient. So many different places within the hotel to relax, drink and eat.
Didn’t impact on our stay, but the hotel is situated on quite a busy junction of a road.
Quirky, great outdoor spaces and good food. Friendly staff
Mattress too soft for me
Room was clean but mattress and bed were in need of replacing. Breakfast was below average. Location was as stated
Mattress was a disgrace. No fresh towels Went in the room and done northing other than turning off the fan when it was 28c Sauces were cheap and poor quality. Breakfast was with cheap product Service was unfriendly, a smile wouldn't have gone a miss. The entrance could be improved , why were dead plants being watered? Needs a skip to throw away the rubbish outside , weed the floor and wash the cushions. it was so dark and unwelcoming in reception . Dining room was dark and un welcoming
Hotel itself is pleasant. Good Parking, Staff are excellent and very friendly. Located off A40 in the village centre.
It'd been an unusually an hot day, and the room was very hot. There was no mention of the portable AC unit on check-in. We found it just before checking out after a very uncomfortable night..... Both Dinner and Breakfast where well over cooked loosing any flavour. Where we just unlucky?
The breakfast was the best breakfast that we have ever had it wasn't greasy it was lovely
We were in room 8 and the mattress was very hard it could do with a new mattress for comfort lovely room and bathroom nice size will definitely be staying again
Breakfast was lovely. The room was a bit dated and tired. The shower head would not stay in place and the cubicle was tiny! The majority of the staff were welcoming and friendly.
The room was super hot and one of the windows was sealed. The shower was small and the shower head was broken.
purchased breakfast for two , the full Beaufort was very good, my wife wouldd have preferred croissant and more condiments to be available. The room was good but my wife didn't like the instruction leaflet in the room referring for extra fine payment if vomit or faeces or blood stained the bed sheets in any way.
The room was good but my wife didn't like the instruction leaflet in the room referring for extra fine payment if vomit or faeces or blood stained the bed sheets in any way.
Great location, great food great bar great staff
Nothing to say here
Food, Situation & Parking
Room Clean but small & bland
Location
The bathroom grout had black mould and the toilet brush was covered in scraps of soiled paper The bedroom was drab and unwelcoming .
Stunning location and lovely B&B. Food was exceptional and reasonably priced. Majority of staff and bar staff were lovely and very friendly
The lady we had serving breakfast wasnt the friendliest and an older bar maid gave off prison officer vibes.
Comfy bed with a nice view
A bit dirty
Location
Definitely not 4 star as advertised, no hot water, miserable staff at breakfast. Was charged £10 extra for breakfast which included a toaster and a bit of fruit. Definitely wouldn't recommend or stay again.
A great Welsh welcome. Room and services all as advertised and we appreciated the re-arranging of rooms they did for us following an issue with a previous guest. Would return when we come back to the Brecon Beacons.
The location was great! It had a charming small village vibe. The staff were friendly. Enjoyed the food there.
The shower ran freezing cold for 10 minutes then when the hot finally came through it was boiling hot and the temperature could not be turned down. One bath towel had a strong yellow solid stain on it. The bed springs were very noticeable when laid on and creaked with every movement.
Nice traditional hotel. Very clean room, nice staff and good quality (if not cheap) breakfast. Plenty of parking, and attractive outdoor area to sit in on a warm evening.
Very noisy plumbing system, which woke us up whenever someone in the building ran water. Also, and probably related to the same issue, no hot water in the shower. Reported this on checking out and don't think the response ( "oh, that's been an ongoing problem ") was really adequate. Having said that, I suppose it would be unusual for a hotel to advertise that patrons would be enjoying a cold shower after their disturbed night's sleep!
Convenient to where we wanted to go and cheap
Fan in room hardly worked so room very hot Mattress on bed seemed bronen/worn one side No evening meals served on a Sunday
Lovely location, friendly staff and delicious fleshly prepared breakfast
The ceiling of the bathroom needed to be treated for mould and repainted, door was hard to lock but the room itself was clean, each room has a slightly different layout but well equipped
The staff were great, and breakfast was good
Cold shower, mouldy bathroom, front door problems
Staff excellent-very friendly and helpful. Dinner -excellent -taste, quantity and value for money. Breakfast wasn't included in our price £90 so we bought yogurt and fruit from across the road. (very early start on 2nd morning so we couldn't have breakfast)
Perhaps provide a fan in the summer. Window too high for us to reach easily to open/close. Bathroom a bit tired-needs a facelift. Move the toilet roll holder -cant reach it over my shoulder. Toilet seat loose. Room -bit cramped as room door bangs into the bed. Wardrobe too big for space-couldn't open the doors properly. No chair to sit on only stools with loose legs or the bed.
Breakfast was good as well as the overall facilities
The room was too hot as the window did not open enough. Also noisy with pub goers till 11:30pm
Superb location, rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Restaurant food was very nice, ample helpings and reasonable prices. Breakfast was also great Will definitely use again and recommend
No issues at all
The breakfast and restaurant were great. The staff were lovely and really helpful.
We were originally placed in a room outside in what they call The Stable. There were a couple of things eg dust, out of date milk sachets, and the TV didn't work. The main problem was no hot water for a shower in the morning. I don't like hot showers but couldn't get anything other than absolutely freezing. We went to reception who seemed to know there were issues with getting hot water to the external building and suggested many things to try, including leaving the hot sink tap running to get the water through, which I had actually already tried, as well as getting up at 6 am or having a shower later in the day. I was furious and said that I didn't come away to get up at 6 am and didn't realise expecting hot water to shower was an optional extra. That being said, I can't fault the staff as they did listen and said they had taken the room out of circulation. Again, I can't fault the staff as they did the right thing and upgraded us and provided much larger and better accommodation than booked, so thank you.
Charlotte was a fantastic host, very kind and professional.
Overall the property was really good. It took some time to get hot water in the shower.
Everything Staff fabulous
Nothing
Wonderful. Friendly atmosphere. In a beautiful location. Food was outstanding. With the added bonus of being able to dine on the terrace in the sunshine.
The top floor rooms were quite warm during the heatwave
Everything. Staff helpful. Room had everything I needed. Great breakfast and in a lovely village.
Nothing
Locatie.
Lovely pub b&b with loads of parking
Very friendly staff, a very relaxing place. Cooked breakfast was fantastic.
Lovely size room and liked the atmosphere and traditional style. Shower great
Room was boiling hot (it was the heatwave) and couldn’t open window much. Must admit I didn’t ask for a fan but I was late to property
The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was good. The location was good for us.
The buffet breakfast was poor. Bedroom was in need of decoration and the beds were soft and old. Although a fan was provided and it was hot it was barely adequate. Room service was ok but could have been better.
I didn't like anything everything
No hot water dirty rooms and bedding very expensive bar
The staff were very friendly, the breakfast and evening meal was excellent and the location was a great start for a motorcycle tour of Wales
Road noise could be a problem, the bed was a little firm. Strangely decorated
The food was excellent and the rooms comfortable. The highlight really though was Trish the GM (and pizza girl!) She made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Terrible mattress.
The Beaufort Breakfast was superb as was the evening meal
No hot water first thing in the morning (7.30am). We had to have breakfast and then return to our room for a shower.
Location fine staff were fine especially Trish the manager who helped out with our problem.
Having to do my own toast after having my scrambled egg served on a plate
The restaurant and bar were to our liking and the staff were friendly.
Our room was described as a a deluxe double, and it clearly wasn’t deluxe. Unfortunately the room was in desperate need of renovation, the bathroom ceiling was full of what looked like mould under the plaster/wallpaper. It just was definitely not deluxe.
Not for anyone who expects hot water services to the en-suite in their room. Hotel reception are well aware of the problem with hot water but continue to let the rooms…..and give no advance warning on arrival - just wait for the visitor to find out after checking in. So wanted to support a local business, but basic services such as access to hot water really have to be in place if offering overnight accommodation. Had to check out early, and find an alternative place to stay, with working shower!
Absence of hot water to room and lack of ownership of the issue by hotel. Lack of response when issue raised via Booking.com; awaiting refund as room was not as advertised.
Huge..best black pudding ! Nice choice of items.
Very quiet location, free parking, modern room with lovely view.
2 older Ladies on reception not very welcoming. Grateful for the 2 young waitresses much kinder and more helpful.
We had a lovely meal, lovely location excellent stay. Parking was good.
Not a lot
Everything
They had an EV charger in their car park. It was a slow charger, but left overnight it meant we didn't have to make a journey to charge up.
Curtains didn't have blackout linings
Location great clean and tidy very quaint
No hot water
Good location for our purposes. Good food.
No hot water in our bathroom at all. I requested a quiet room but that given was subject to hideous noise in the early hours of the mornings.
Excellent staff. Excellent food and general facilities.
Room No 10 should not be used as a guest room. Very poor standard and not worthy of this excellent hotel.
Excellent location. Very welcoming
No hit water in the morning.
The breakfast was good and the location very good
The shower was poor as it did not drain properly plus my shower the water was cold
The breakfast was good
Our bathroom was dirty, broken toilet seat, no hot water, mould round the bath, the shower head was covered in mould. So we could not a shower, due to no hot water.
Location very central great food and comfy rooms pet friendly
Food fantastic, staff very welcoming. Very good breakfast. Easy to find and ample parking available
Food was exceptional value. Friendly staff.
Lovely area, nice staff
Room floor had broken floor boards. Creaky bed. Shower was cold
Great venue, close to Raglan Castle for a day out. Quiet. Clean room and comfortable bed. Food was really nice and not too expensive.
I would say the shower. On the evening it was warm, but on the morning, even after 5 mins the water was still cold and I hadn't changed the settings on the dials.
Location
Our room was very tired. The carpets were dirty and the furniture very worn. No hot water in the morning so had to have a cold shower.
No hot water. Clueless staff. Manager or anyone to deal properly with issue not there. When water did come on, it was either intermittently scalding or freezing -- this dangerous and wants reporting to Health and Safety. Also, the staff knew of the problems, so therefore shd have warned us when we checked in -- we could have looked for somewhere else.
Lovely view from one of the rooms, the other room had a view of a wall! We were attending a wedding nearby hence why we booked there.
The twin room no 12 is was very basic and there is mould in the shower.
Toilet flush needs readjusting
Room spacious and clean
Breakfast not great
Location in pleasant village
Staff under pressure (job adverts on display) and missing breakfast ingredients.
Beautiful location
Travelled from Spain. Arrived just after lunch had finished. I asked if there was a chance of a sandwich, I was told it was not possible and that evening meals started at 6. We decided we would wait, asked for the menu around 5.40, only to be told." We do not serve meals on a Monday." I found that unacceptable to be evening meals are served from 6, then after waiting 3 hour's to be told no we don't serve on Monday's. A hotel with residents, no evening meals served. This should be identified prior. There was a kettle in the room and two cups. No coffee, no tea bags etc. Called down using the number, no answer, had to go to reception. The young man was helpful and got me some. Following day, exactly the same, no coffee, milk, etc, and the same the 3rd day. Very disappointed that they did not automatically provide this, without having to keep going to reception and ask them for some.
Drinks were ok.
Food was non existent due to short staffing. No hot water in the shower, most of the staff were not helpful, room very hot with only a very small window. Fan supplied was on a 2 hour timer. If you soiled the bed linen at all you would be charged £100, never seen this before in any other hotel etc.
Clean and comfortable.
We were told the bar would be open until 10:30. When we arrived back at 9:00 it was shut. If you stay at a pub, you expect the bar to be open in the evening!
The two members of staff were brilliant trying to sort the problem
Hotel.was seriously understaffed. Actual bed wasn't a bed ???? Base disguised with a fitted.sheet ??? The hot water in the shower was scalding hot with no control.over the temperature. Very dangerous ! The staff.tried.sorting it. Tried to upgrade me which the manager was support sort but he basically ran off ! Tried.to get a refund...no money in the account. Complete.nightmare. Left.and.slept on a friends couch. Completely hideous experience. Felt so sorry for the.staff trying to sort things
Very friendly staff and helpful
The bathroom facilities were in need of a renovation
Great location as a stop off fir Cardiff
I called (after trying 5 times at various times during the day) a few days before to confirm the sleeping arrangements for my 3year old grandson, I was told it was all sorted and it was on the system, when we arrived they didn't seem to know anything about it. It was quickly sorted but the communication needs reviewing and im sure they must lose business by not answering the phone. The hotel is cosy but needs a bit of attention/updating.
Clean & tidy
Rooms need bit of TLC & new mattresses
We were able to meet up with family for a wedding closeby which worked out well.
Staff were brilliant, very friendly. Great guy behind the bar "Harry" kept us laughing. Had a great evening with the owner and friends with a quiz. Totally recommend this great hotel.
Superb staff, no exceptions: smart, friendly, helpful, couldn't have asked for better. Dinner was much better than we could possibly have expected for an out of the way country pub, the range was excellent and the food was consistently good. Breakfast was spot on. The property was of course a little tired but spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the main lounge and restaurant were very nice.
The corridors in the upper parts of the main building smelt of stale tobacco. Need to deal with that pronto!
Great location easy to find. Lovely comfortable room. Dinner and breakfast was good.
No hot water in the morning for a shower.
Great food. Can’t wait to return
