great property friendly staff
Good location. Helpful.
The architectural details in the building are lovely. It was positioned well for walking to the heart of the city. We didn't like our room. We had stairs up to the bathroom , the view out into the yard was tatty, and we only had one stirring stick for our teas and coffees.
Great hotel. Thoughtfully updated. Very quiet rooms. Bed is comfortable.
It’s clear the building is very old. They have an issue with the AC system meaning not all rooms have cool air. They try and remedy this with a fan but in France in the summer it’s just not good. Credit to the nice staff who tried to help but there’s nothing they can do. I’d avoid and stay somewhere more capable of having guests
stayed just one night whilst touring the Loire valley, the hotel is
No idea how they passed equivalent of Fire/Buildind Inspection
Great location!
Very nice hotel. We stayed only one night but we definitely recommend staying at Hotel d’Anjou.
Great location, service and decor for a one night stopover. Plus secure parking.
Staff were excellent!!
Excellent check in service. Really nice, large room. Good bathrooms. Easily walkable to all areas
Nice hotel, breakfast good, no bar , and restaurant not open Sunday or Monday . Bathroom very tired , and strange 2 doors into room! Lots of stairs and very old lift
Charming property centrally located. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Inner rooms are completely silent given its central location. Near to all the major sights. Would easily recommend.
Just an overnight stay - was a bit concerned about a few not-so-good reviews but could find nothing to complain about. We had a lovely welcome, our room was modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast on Sunday was fresh, plentiful and tasty.
Excellent and friendly staff
Beautiful hotel, gorgeous rooms and I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Just terrific.
Breakfast was very poor. Even at 9am, staff were unable to clear tables fast enough or to restock the buffet. We had to wait 40 minutes for more bread, and then it arrived frozen! Breakfast was hyped in the room information but was shocking.
I'm very sad to write this review and have reached out to the property twice for a reply and rectification of my recent stay without a reply. While the hotel, staff and room are perfectly lovely. I arrived and was left 2 Shampoo bottles (one of which had already been clearly opened) and no Conditioner. The fire alarm went off and was a false alarm, however my sleep after a long journey from Australia (30 Hours) was very disrupted. The following night I had no hot water to have a shower, the next morning, still not rectified and after a restless night sleep was offered to shower in another uncleaned room just down the hall, traipsing there in my dressing gown with all of my toiletries, however this room thankfully had Conditioner. The hot water had apparently been fixed however that evening after a cold and wet day, I was greeted to no towels in my room and tepid water. When I requested some towels, the receptionist brought me a very old and stained bath mat which was quite disgusting. Requesting to speak with a manager this was denied as to none being on site and they wouldn't be on site for the remainder of my stay another 2 days over the weekend. I requested another room and was told I should move Hotels. Now as the basic necessities of a hotel such as hot water weren't available to me for 2 days of my 4 day stay and no manager was on hand or would contact me, this was most upsetting. I had no desire to change hotels for my final night and no compensation was offered.
The hotel ran out of hot water for a few hours two days in a row during our stays. The staff also didn’t change the bed sheets and forgot to take out our garbage.
the elevator has to be replaced because is really small
When we arrived there was no one at reception. Called reception no answer. After 5 minutes member of staff appeared. As gold member should have had a free drink but the hotel has no bar or restaurant! How is this a 4 star hotel? No one at the hotel spoke English at all. Shower was weak and Luke warm and there was a lot of white noise in the room making it difficult to sleep. Overall not a great experience.
The property was pretty but it did not have parking at all. When I was ther I asked the recepcionist about the parking, I was prepared to pay for it, but she told me that they only have 10 spaces for parking an they where busy. I dont undertand why in the Epedia Page they put thay they have parking an they did not. I think Expedia have to check the properties before they put them in the Page. It is not valid for the customers
The property has nice and clean but .some of the manager were mean. I did-not like how people were asked their room number before they can eat . I also didnot like how they treated me when I ask them for a bag of tea. After all the money I spend there what is a bag of tea? Honestly
Nice hotel, took ages and multiple attempts to get through on the phone. Underground car park in side street nearby difficult to access but very secure and a comfort when you have a car full of stuff. Room v comfy and missing tea bags and coffee. Renovations meant much of the hotel was dust sheeted but the breakfast room was really interesting old style. Buffet breakfast was fine but, in truth, nothing special. Staff v friendly but quite thin on the ground leaving Reception vacant for quite long periods. Happy to stay again but the 4 star rating must be in anticipation or based on the aged 19th C decor.
Excellent location for exploring Angers. Lovely room.Underground parking available at extra cost.
This is a really nice building, classical European on a lively street near the centre of Angers. The decor is what you might call ... tired! I would recommend it based on the price and “dont be too fussy”
Highly recommended. Hotel staff was so friendly, and rooms are very nice!!
Our room was quite small, but very clean and warm and chic, with an extremely comfortable bed. It was triple glazed with great sound-proofing! The lift is old and quirky - in keeping with an old building, but worked perfectly. We saw several receptionists during our stay, and everyone was helpful and courteous. We ate in the restaurant for one night and the food was good and well presented. The location is absolutely perfect for shopping, sightseeing or just taking in the atmosphere of this beautiful city. Parking is in a secure, underground car park just around the corner from the hotel. It is reasonably priced and we felt our car and contents were safe there. We would recommend this hotel - our Room 243 had a fabulous view over the square, fountain and park.
The service was very good from the staff, but the hotel is older and there was a distinct smell on my floor that was obvious when you got off the elevator. The bed was comfortable, but the shower stall was very small!
This must be the worst hotel I‘ve ever stayed in. We reserved two rooms for two nights. We checked in and all looked fine- not the most nice hotel but fine. At the first night we stayed we found BED BUGS in one of the rooms in the middle of the night. The receptionist offered a big room in exchange, we took it only to find bugs in the second room as well the same night. As we are family, and there were no other rooms in the hotel, the reception lady offered to help us move to the hotel across the street and said she will arrange refund for our rooms in the morning. When the morning came we talked to ‘hotels’ where we placed our order to receive the refund but they were told by Best Western that they will not refund us. We tried going back to the reception, and were told that there was no bed bugs found in the room only mosquitos (although we showed pictures). So if you’re thinking about staying here- please think again.
Nice modern hotel. Walking distance to the chateau. Very good restaurant if time isn’t a factor.
Super comfortable bed and it even had a bathtub! It was an extra I wasn't expecting but greatly appreciated. Only stayed one evening, but after travelling around France staying at different hotels, it was great to relax in the tub and get a full nights sleep.
My mom and I stayed in hotel D’Anjou and planned on staying one night. The lady at the front was so sweet and helped us to stay two additional nights. A co worker of hers even gave us a cooler for our wine and cups to bring to our room. Would highly recommend this hotel because the staff was wonderful!
The most beautiful art deco hotel, comfortable beds, nice room.Very good city centre location but room was quiet. Slight problem with the parking garage being in a separate building, but the staff on reception are extremely helpful with luggage. They were extremely helpful with everything actually.
Staff was super friendly and helpful!!! Loved the fact that there was coffee and tea on the room.
Good location close to the old town and restaurants. Friendly and helpful reception. Nice room though a bit small.
Wonderful staff who could not have been more helpful. Excellent location. The only downside was that as we stayed in a Sunday night both the restaurant and bar were closed.
Nice historic hotel with tall ceilings, lots of charm, air conditioning and a wonderful breakfast. Even had parking. Would highly recommend.
Well located, and whilst on a busy street in room 234 we had no noise issues. Efficient a/c system in our room which was an upgrade from the standard queen room. Car parking is up a side street which brings you around the back of the building and you need a code to access so call in advance as parking outside the building to pop in and get directions/the code is not an option. Nice breakfast. Very friendly staff
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable, good location
good location. good nights sleep. nice room. hospitality tray not refreshed during stay
Excellent location and services. Fair price as well.
This hotel provided the best service and is centrally located. We got to enjoy Saturday morning market that was 1 block away. I would highly recommend this hotel
Great hotel, central to all restaurants/bars. Secure parking.
The only drawback is the limited parking on site, you need to reserve your spot in advance or park down the street in a garage.
Nice hotel, well-situated if a touch dated. Room was clean and comfortable.
A lovely hotel and great service, no complaints.
The room was excellent - and happily accommodated us and two dogs
Did not live up to expectations
The hotel was very well located in the city centre and not too far away from the railway station. The staff were all very helpful and polite, including the cleaners. It was very clean and the bedroom facilities were very good. The breakfast was good, with a lot of choices and the staff there were always on hand to look after you.
Lovley hotel and it was great for our stopover. Close to walk into town to see some of the sights. Nice clean room with all the facilities you need. Will stay again if in the area.
The room was extremely small, we booked a double room with two twins and that was basically all the room could fit. It was very clean and comfortable with a good bathroom. When we arrived we were not given a lot of details about the area. We tried to go to the restaurant attached to the hotel but were turned away even though the restaurant was far from full because we had not made a reservation. It would have been nice for the front desk to ask if we needed reservations or to mention that Mondays are very hard to find restaurants. We did find a place to eat down the street but overall there was no great service provided by the hotel. Breakfast was completely adequate however expensive for what you received. There was no parking but there is a large lot that was extremely inexpensive about two blocks away. It was a good location and near the older part of the city and the chateau.
Great location. Hotel with character! Nearby parking. Restaurants and coffee shops also nearby. Competitive price.
Central location, very helpful and friendly staff, excellent evening meal
The restaurant. La Salamandre was excellent. The bar area was a little cramped as was also the space for lounging which was a surprise for a hotel with a good reputation.
Really impressed with this old lady of an hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, loads of old world charm and all in a nice city. Would return
The bed is really on the too soft side, which made me sleep badly and wake up all achy. The elevator and parking lot are really impractical.
Enjoyable stay- shame restaurant shut while we were there.
Great hotel that is quiet in a good location and has air conditioning for summer.
A good stay
We had a wonderful view of the fountain and park. Grateful they had an elevator because we were on the 3rd floor. Nice breakfast offered for a cost. Great location to train station
nice location in Angers-would stay again-Angers is nice city
Centrally located, friendly staff, charming hotel with all amenities. Very well maintained and managed
Charming hotel very well managed an din pristine condition, central located in Angers with parking facility
Upon entering the lobby, you are presented with beautiful arches and almost art-deco style. The hotel staff were very helpful with guiding my vehicle into their underground parking (directions given) and were very pleasant upon check-in. The hotel has an old classic-charm about it is like stepping back in time into the various rooms of the building. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed in our room (kettle for tea, water, quiet). The elevator was a unique experience being it had just enough room for two people and two bags. Fun experience.
Very nice hotel, well located. I enjoy the view from my room (jardin du mail) . Walking distance from town square, restaurant and park.
The hotel is nice. Some rooms need updating. The breakfast buffet is good and has a lot of variety. My only complaint is that, in the winter, the room is too hot and the heater cannot be turned down. Good location!
really enjoyed
Except for the parking situation it was a great location for sightseeing, restaurants, and shopping.
Average overall. Actually could hear footsteps in the next room - super thin walls. Never did figure out how to get car in hotel parking. Used a city lot a 5 minute walk away instead.
A comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of restaurants and sites of interest, including two nice parks.
WE HAD A GREAT ROOM, ENJOYED THE HOTEL, BUT THE INTERNET WAS INFURIATING. THE HOTEL REQUIRED A PASSWORD AND AN EMAIL ADDRESS, BUT ALSO PROVIDED A CHECK MARK TO "REMEMBER ME". IT SEEMED TO ME IT NEVER REMEMBERED ME. OFTEN, WHILE IN THE ROOM, I WAS HAVING TO REENTER THE THREE DIGIT CODE, AND MY EMAIL, TO GET THE INTERNET ACCESS. iT WAS SO ANNOYING. iT WAS AS IF I WAS LEAVING MY ROOM TIME AND TIME AGAIN. THOUGH EVERYTHING ABOUT THE HOTEL WAS GREAT MY REQUIREMENT TO BE AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE BACK HOME WAS FRUSTRATED BY THIS HOTEL'S INTERNET INFRASTRUCTURE.
Hotel was a surprise. Looked like someone's palatial home and not a Best Western. Located on a spacious boulevard in the lovely little city of Anger, France.
Shabby chic but comfortable and good location with very helpful staff.
Really enjoyed the hotel and surrounding area. Will definitely stay again
Last minute stopover in Angers on way home. Nice hotel, with beautiful art deck touches. Great location for seeing this really beautiful city.
Not a good choice when travelling by car as parking facilities are very awkward, staff extremely helpful with this though
My wife and I stayed three nights and were very happy with the hotel. Very good location for walking directly from the front door to sightseeing and shopping.
Great service - I asked for extra sheets, where to buy water - sheets were right away given to me and 2 water bottles without extra charge. At breakfast there was someone there to make sure everything was refilled, help with seating ... and there was a machine to make fresh squeezed orange juice.
Lovely hotel in a central location although the car park was hard to find. Plenty of sights within walking distance and lots of restaurants on the door step, although I wish we had tried the hotel restaurant as it was beautiful.
Fantastic location, room with cachet and comfort, friendly staff and great service to check in in the middle of the night with easy parking access
No bellhop, no drop in in front of the hotel, side door condemned, my mother of 94 had to walk 3 blocks to the car with luggages in tow. Couldn't park the car in the hotel garage,...entrance too narrow, I was afraid to damage the car ( had to step out of the car to activate the door opening and by the time I got back and try to maneuver, the door closed and would have hit the hood , luckily I backed up in the neck of time. Elevator outdated and tiny. The bathroom was adequate, except for the washroom door that is almost flush with the toilet bol and is awkward to get out. I could go on, but let's say that I stayed in 3 stars hotels with better facilities.
The room was quite small and the bathroom had broken floor tiles but plenty of soaps etc. The check in receptionist was very polite and helpful. All the staff were polite. Restaurant closed on a Sunday night.
Stayed a night just passing through. Benny at the desk was great. Excellent English by the hotel staff. Great clean, spacious room. Highly recommend.
This is a very nice hotel; it has French charm and more space than you'll get in most hotels in France. I have stayed twice, once in July and once in December, and it has nice A/C in the summer. It's a quick walk from the train station, which makes it convenient, and although it's on the edge of downtown Angers, Angers is small enough that it is actually quite close to everything. If one has business at the University of Belle-Beille, the bus that goes to campus is just across the street. I will definitely stay again!
Travelling back from Spain to St Malo had one night at this hotel, staff car parking all excellent. We did not eat at the hotel although the menu looked very good.
Good experience except for the bed - not comfortable.
Accommodation was excellent with well sound proofed windows. The hotel felt quite luxurious. The staff could have been a bit warmer in their welcome but were polite and helpful.
The hotel staff were all very helpful and were able to converse with us in English to handle our requests/respond to questions. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from many shops and restaurants.
This is a very nice hotel that is in a good location, however the room was a little small and the toilet was a little tight against the heater in the bathroom. The hotel has parking but is in an underground carpark that is up the road and requires a code access. The entrance is very tight as well as two automatic doors to negotiate and some tight corners but seems very secure. Only issue is no direct access to the hotel from the car park. Breakfast was good if a little pricy but plenty of choice and a good selection. We also used the restaurant on site for an evening meal and this was excellent with good service and food with a few surprises like little taster dishes in between courses. Overall location is good however steps at front entrance and then more steps from reception to the every small lift make it difficult if you have any mobility issues or a lot of luggage.
This is a very good hotel that could demonstrate better customer service! The hotel is located on a busy street, and cars cannot park in front to off-load luggage. The underground parking was a bit of a hassle to get to, and we had to drag our luggage a considerable distance to the front of the hotel. To my disappointment, the hotel staff watched my wife and I personally carry our luggage up the front steps to reach the front desk, making two trips. No assistance was offered, and not a word was mentioned by the desk receptionist. Huhh? The restaurant served excellent food, and the room was clean and comfortable - what I would expect for a 4-star hotel.
I'm not sure how this hotel garnered four stars. First, there are many stairs from the street to the lobby and no one to assist with bags. You just haul them up the stairs to the - I have to say, wonderful front desk person. Then, while there is a nice, tiny lift, there (at least on the floor we stayed on) were an additional two sets of stairs to haul bags up before we reached our room. The room was beautiful. The bed was the most uncomfortable, rock hard mattress I ever tired to sleep on. The bathtub/shower combination was super slippery and high. I felt like I was risking my life each time I climbed in and out of it. There was no way to shut the curtains/shutters so the light from the nearby apartments and other rooms, left on all night streamed into our room. Finally, the first night we treated ourselves to a "nice" dinner in hotel's restaurant. It was terrible, really, awful. The front desk staff was nothing but nice and as helpful as possible. The physical attributes of this property outside of those strictly decorative were terrible. The worst hotel bed I've ever encountered. A truly unsafe bathroom situation. Difficult (for some guests, I'm sure impossible) situation getting your luggage to your room. Expensive and terrible food.
The hotel is beautiful. It looks more like a Loire valley castle. The location allows to walk to the historical center, therefore the valet parking (15 euros per night) is OK. Everything else was very good.I would go back.
but expensive breakfast!
Booked 2 rooms for 2 couples for 3 nights so that we could explore the area. Did not use the hotel facilities much but the rooms were exactly as required, and the staff on reception were very helpful and friendly. The only downside, but not too important to us, was the very low wi-fi signal in our room which was on a corner. In all other respects a great place to stay, very handy for Angers old town in the evenings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms clean. The building historic enough to be fun and authentic. The old city is very much worth seeing.
Third visit this year. Room was right next door to lift, a lot of noise. Hotel in fairness did re-fund the breakfast charge. Previous visit have been OK.
We had a great room overlooking the park. The hotel is in a convenient location and we walked everywhere. The woman at reception (whose name I can't remember!) provided excellent customer service.
Nice centrally located restaurant with comfortable clean rooms. Good value for your money.
