Gut gelegen.
Great size room and bathroom. Comfortable, clean and convenient
Parking
Very good breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff, both morning and evening. Excellent evening meal.
Very limited and tricky parking. ( and expensive) 'Musty' smell in the room (8). ( Perhaps not been used for some time?) Very thin toilet paper!!
Lovely hotel. Room very spacious. Excellent breakfast & evening dinner.
A convenient place to stay, just a 10-15 drive from Portsmouth Cruise Terminal. Chose this over similar price, chain hotels. The staff were efficient, comfortable bed and good breakfast.
It was fine but a few odd things in the room (no 8, ground floor). Namely no proper hanging space other than in a half height cupboard, nowhere to hang damp towels in the bathroom and a very small TV.
Beliggenheten nær stranden. Meget god frokost. Hyggelig betjening.
Trange trapper opp til rommet.
We are an older couple and dragging our luggage up very steep and narrow stairs was not easy. There was no air conditioning and it was quite warm. The room was large. The bathtub was very high and hard to step in and out of for an older couple. We were very very careful.
Beautiful rooms

everything, especially supper outside in the garden in the hot weather.
I like everything about this special hotel
Very attractively decorated and it felt very cosy
The stairs to the top room but hey it’s not the end of the world and probably good for us after a long drive!
The breakfast was in a very convenient location and beautifully presented.
More than one key would have been good but I didn't actually ask for one. Otherwise it was very nice, large clean room in a lovely period property.
Environment and outside dining area
Thought the carpark while very secure was a bit expensive
Lovely bedroom and great food. Excellent location.
Nothing!
Love the location, close. to the Beach
The people in the room above were very noisy
Rien
Nice hotel , 5 min away from the beach and 20 min walk from the center. good breakfast.
the room was quite small.
Nice small hotel, nice staff, good breakfast
Opposite a pub, very loud. Windows couldn't be opened, just one small window in one corner. Very hot. Not in walking distance of main attractions in Portsmouth.
Everything
Good location, great staff
I think this hotel is overpriced. The curtains were missing from the room and the curtains rail was just left there. The shower basin was very slippery and dangerous.
Great room and location. Fabulous breakfast.
Nothing
Good sized rooms, the staff were excellent: friendly and efficient. Brilliant location: within walking distance of the sea, Southsea common and Southsea centre.
Absolutely nothing
Mooi gerenoveerd hotel, prima ontbijt, goede ligging, vriendelijk personeel.
Very attentive staff, very safe organised car parking.bug bedroom. Best spare ribs I have had and very good breakfast
For such a large room the television was very small
Cozy and perfect

Buildings and rooms were very attractively decorated and well cleaned. Good curtains on windows on tall windows, oscillating fan in the room for cooler air and with the bathroom for circulation. Good space for walking and keeping luggage and even light exercise. Reception/breakfast area very nice indoor/outdoor facility. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Good location for walking to the waterfront (D-Day museum in closest as well as parks). Not too far from the Mayville High School bus stop […]. Had the continental breakfast and enjoyed eating it outside.
The property address wasn’t the clearest and we got a bit turned around walking to or from the bus stop the first few times. The hotel is actually a collection of buildings very near each other - it’s that we didn’t like it, it was just a little unclear when first arriving. I was a
Absolutely lovely, the decor, the room. Breakfast was excellent, still plenty of choice despite us going down towards the end of service. Staff were great.
-
Such a lovely hotel, rooms were big and clean - staff were very friendly and genuinely helpful. We had dinner in the garden and the food was spot on. It's so near everything too. Highly recommend.
The Hotel was quaint and the room great. Very clean. Service superb and continental breakfast great. We are si nee well and it was very good.
The breakfast room was very convenient.
It's too bad the hotel can't afford a renovation to make it feel less "tired". Although that has a certain kind of bygone era charm to it.
We booked a King Size room direct with the Florence Hotel. However, when we arrived, we were given a room in the adjacent Somerset Hotel, which does not have a restaurant, and, breakfast is served in the Florence Hotel only. We did not fancy crossing the road if it rained and it is easier to dine in the hotel you are staying. I for a room change to be told that there are no King Size rooms in the Florence Hotel, which doesn’t make sense when I was able to book a King Size room in the Florence Hotel in the first place. We transferred to a double room in the Florence Hotel, which was the hotel we booked. No offer of a reimbursement of the difference in room prices, despite being clearly deceived at the time of booking our stay. Be warned, when booking the Florence Hotel you may find yourself in the Somerset or another of their hotels annexed nearby. I would not describe either the Florence or the Somerset as Boutique; they were not highly stylized or had any unique theme. Yes, our room was clean and serviced every day, no different to any other hotel. We found it very strange that we could not book our drinks and meals to our room. Guests were told to pay by cash or card on the basis the ‘system was down.’ Breakfast was self-service, with melons and yoghurt served in pre filled pots. Cereals also available. The hotel reception forms part of the restaurant, with a small bar located behind. The Reception desk is manned by members of staff who also double up in the restaurant. In the evenings one person was manning the reception, bar and restaurant. As you can guess one person cannot be in three places at once, thus delaying table service. Perhaps the Boutique theme is waiting for service! We did inform our server of my wife’s intolerance, but he did not identify those meals my wife should avoid, so she had fish and chips. I had the stuffed pepper which was excellent. The next evening, we shared a Pizza, which took forty minutes to order and arrive because the server was manning three jobs. Ridiculous. It arrived burnt but after such a wait we ait what we could, mainly the side of chips We couldn’t really complain, because the server/receptionist/bar person was overworked, managing the reception (not just incoming guests but the telephone), bar and restaurant. manage the telephone and other diners. In any event, how could any self-respecting chef serve a burnt a burnt Pizza? Not really luxury. The restaurant toilets were a disgrace, two unisex cubicles which had not seen a cleaner all day… The photos were not taken late in the evening but at seven o’clock. Sorry Florence Hotel, but the bad points really overweighed by the good.
Stayed for one night prior to taking a ferry to France. Hotel has a nice location that is within walking distance to many interesting places (coast, D-Day museum etc) or a very short drive to others (Gunwharf Quays, the Naval Dockyards). I would recommend reserving parking prior to arriving as it is limited. It is only £10/night and puts you right outside the hotel. Convenient especially with luggage. Our room was a Superior Superking Room with Shower (room eight). Spacious, nicely appointed and private. Breakfast was plentiful, however, at busy times some items such as scrambled eggs can run out and the wait can be unnecessarily long. They should be better prepared for this as they know the overnight guest numbers. Our server Mirella at breakfast was engaging and attentive. Overall a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to stay again.
First time coming to Portsmouth and after the amazing experience I've had. This place will be my new solo trip spot! From the second we arrived the staff were extremely friendly. There are options for parking to be reserved and if you have an electric vehicle there are charging points all down the road. The room was as beautiful as seen online with everything you could need. Cleanliness is a big thing for me and can make or break my stay. This place was pristine. We stayed for breakfast and it was the best choice we made. The food was fantastic quality and a lovely selection. The stand out part of my trip was the staff. Molly was so kind and chatty. From sharing books and coming over for a morning chat, she made my trip feel so special. Thank you to all the team for my stay. Going somewhere new is always alittle scary as a solo traveler but this place makes you feel at home. If your thinking of booking all I can say is do it!
Very handy coming off the ferry from France, parking could have been challenging but it worked out well for us despite arriving late evening. Friendly welcome and a very good choice of breakfast in the morning. A young man was extremely helpful carrying my wife’s heavy case all the way to top floor. A bit of a rush only staying one night but we could have happily stayed longer.
For us as an older couple getting luggage up to the top floor would have been challenging without help. At 6’ 3” tall I felt the low overhead lampshade in our room was sharp and potentially dangerous if a hand or bare arm contacted it whilst dressing etc. I had a near miss experience so health and safety person might want to consider a change there.
Very clean, breakfast is good and staff is very friendly
Really clean, staff were lovely and near the beach

Sehr gute Lage, kostenloses Parken, vernünftiges Frühstück, gutes Zimmer. Nicht mehr, nicht weniger.
Great room. Large and well furnished. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was good. Wine list reasonably priced. Easy walk to the beach
Fabulous stay at The Florence. Room 8 was perfect as not too many stairs to struggle with luggage. Paid the extra £10 for parking. Walking distance to everywhere. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast & great coffee too.
Clean, comfortable and convenient.
Food order incorporated in same bill as food ordered by other paying guests.
Staff were incredibly helpful. Food was fantastic. We were able to chill the next day in the sun soaked patio. Delightful!
Towels a little dirty! Outside street noise for a little bit late at night. Difficulty parking.
Clean, charming and spacious
The bed was amazing. Florence Suite. Molly was a doll at checkin
Stayed in Room 3, a king sized bed (and truly king size, as most 'king's are actually queen sized.) A nice roomy space, bed is comfortable while pillows a bit firm. It would be nice to have a softer pillow option. Silly that the heating comes on with a timer. I was cold, but had to wait an hour before our room heater would turn on automatically. Similar cost cutting ventures....not a tissue box in sight. Strange. I've never been in a hotel that doesn't supply tissues! And for two days running the conditioner bottle in the bathroom is empty. Clearly no one checked it, for days. some tea coffee stuff supplied, but no bathroom extras. Most hotels at least offer them on demand. The plumbing was very hard to get the right temperature, and as the wshower is over the bath, you will need to ensure you are not a larger person to fit in well. My husband has broad shoulders, and struggled, had to stand sideways. I thought the stay was average, the breakfast was nice. Wht I really did NOT like wwere the towels. They smell of old washing water. They might be washed, but they're not fresh or nice smelling. They smell of old soap and damp water. THey're unpleasant and should be washed so that they have no smell or a pleasant smell. There was also no hand towel for two days. Overall, it was ok, but I won't stay here again. Not value for money, too much cost cutting. Very plain.
Its a lovely looking hotel
We checked in late after informing the staff way in advance (2 weeks before arrival and on the arrival afternoon) . We were really tired and once we got in the room it was really cold and the heating wasnt on or didnt work. We informed the receptionist and he kindly gave us a portable heater. However that took time to warm the room up. The heating was eventually working in the morning but thats really not acceptable. Also the bathroom floor is really cold and going there with no slippers was really uncomfortable. Also, I would expect more towels than 1 pp.
Fantastic spot for accessing Portsmouth. Room clean and good size Breakfast and evening meal wet good Staff excellent
Great little hotel, friendly staff, welcoming and accommodating.
Overall
Secure parking - gate was left open on a few occassiions
All of it was good. Very clean and the room was very comfortable
Desk for working could have been better
Veru individual
Nothing
Lovely place and accommodation, amazing breakfast but facilities rough round the edges , we paid for a super king room , We had to pay every thing up front for the accommodation extras,on arrival, after paying for accommodation when booking Had to pay extra to accommodate our dog but no bowls treats or bedding, unlike other places we have stayed In, staff couldn't make a shandy, we had to pay for everything as we went,ie drinks etc not settling up at the end after paying everything up front,
No full size mirror in room Pay extra for parking Shower block decor shabby
Great location, staff were exceptional, room was bright and lovely, food amazing
There was nothing to dislike
The room was very comfortable. There were nice chairs to sit on and the room was good value for money. They supplied a bottle of of filtered water in the room which saves us having to buy a bottle
The only thing was breakfast finished at 9 and most places I have stayed it's usually 9.30/10.
Breakfast was good with a wide selection of food
Had to pay extra for a cappuccino and parking was expensive
Absolutely lovely - the photos don’t do it justice
Nothing
Staff very helpful. Tasteful decor. Good sized room.
Mattresses were poor. Deep indents in the middle - felt and looked like ‘holes’ under the bottom sheet.
I think it’s very beautifully decorated. I love the style and how everything is laid out. It’s very up to date. I loved the bathroom and the layout of our room, it was very spacious and a perfect location for why we were staying there. (Beach trip) I had a wonderful time here. My 10 year old daughter thought it was the best place she’d ever seen and my autistic 3 year old was safe and had an absolute blast! It’s very rare we find somewhere that has the needs for both children but this was amazing. It had everything we needed.
There isn’t anything I can complain about I don’t think?
Location
Beautifully decorated and very helpful staff
Nothing
The property was very nice, staff were great and it was nice to be able to book (paid) parking. Breakfasts were great.
We found the bed and pillows uncomfortable; perhaps they’ve seen better days.
Very friendly staff and we were made very welcome on arrival. Room was large with plenty of storage. Lovely decor, lovely homely feel to the hotel. Breakfast was very good. Hotel is ideally located near to the beach and the restaurants of Southsea. Additional charge for parking but it was in a secured gated area. Tricky to find though!
Lovely hotel, that was well decorated, lovely and ckean. Our room was a good size with very comfy bed and nice bathroom. Breafast was well cooked and great choice of items.
The hotel did not have a restaurant open for evening meal for our stay, although there was a bistro pub just down the road which we did use.
Staff were very helpful.
Room smelt a bit odd, as though someone had been smoking in there?
Very pleasant stay with excellent and helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable hotel.
Small but pleasant hotel, nice clean rooms and friendly staff
We spent a night in this hotel whilst visiting the historic dockyard in Portsmouth. Slightly tricky to find the gated car park but once we did that was a nice idea, to have secure parking, cost of an additional £15. Very friendly welcome on arrival. Our room was large and had really thick soft carpet which felt more luxurious than the usual hotel carpet standard! Room was very clean, bathroom a little tired in places and the towels could do with an upgrade but other than that very comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast was really good, waitress service, good selection of breakfast options. All in all very good value for money.
I stayed for 2 nights, the room was clean, comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The location is great for everything in and around Southsea. I used the on street parking and found a space a couple of streets away. Having previously lived in Southsea I was expecting this but if you want easy parking near the hotel I would suggest paying for the parking supplement.
The location- really quiet and within close proximity to eateries. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was welcoming, tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and warm.
The lack of a restaurant. On Booking.com it’s advertised as having a restaurant, but there wasn’t one. The hotel explained that it was available seasonally, from May. Booking needs to update its details to reflect this.
Good Location
The Toilet was dirty, the Body/hair wash was empty in the shower. the restaurant was closed but said online it was open. Breakfast was expensive, you only got 1 bit of toast with the egg on toast and it was £12.00 for that
Staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast perfect lots of choice. , evening meal very nice good choices
The location was perfect!
The tea cups in our room were tiny..not ideal
