Every single thing. You have never stayed anywhere at this price point where they seriously take such good care of you. This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and I would do it again 100 times over.
Not a thing, all amazing, no joke.
This is, hands down, one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. If you are lucky enough to find availability here, book immediately. You will not regret it! The hosts are incredible, the breakfast spectacular, and the rooms and the entire property are a magical combination of museum quality and luxuriously comfortable. A++++
That we ever had to leave!
The is an AMAZING and ANAZINGLY RUN boutique hotel. Ideally located at one of the gates of the old city in Rhodes, with an amazing atmosphere, comfortable rooms and the most fantastic team that makes Kokkini Porta Rosa the very emanation of a boutique hotel. Totally personalized (no, I seriously mean the most personalized experience we ever had in a hotel). The owners Nikos and Angela and Giulia are making sure you get the ultimate out of your stay on the island. They have literally gone every extra mile in any direction to make sure that we get the best possible experience for our stay. Nikos is a treasure of knowledge about the entire island, its history and heritage and all sorts of broader humanitarian and cultural knowledge - he takes time to understand their guests interests and truly knows which places will offer the ultimate experience for what you are looking for. He had provided golden recommendations from sightseeing, guides and excursions, to places to eat and enjoy ourselves. Never before in my long history of visiting hotels I have got such well curated suggestions and practically fully made itinerary. The truth is we didn't get just a room - we got extreme hospitality and curation of our stay. Angela, Nikos' wife and co-owner, is making sure we get pampered in all possible ways - from rich breakfast adapted to our personal preferences to just having a nice afternoon chats. Giulia is also there for you whether it's to provide efficient service or have a nice chat if you feel so. The whole feeling is that you are at home - if not yours by title deed at least at your very hospitable and polite hosts' home. And since the hospitality is so amazing, it's worth mentioning the very cozy rooms - ours was adjacent to the city wall and we had our own small yard.
There is nothing that compares to the Kokkini Porta Rossa. Ultimate in classic luxury accomodations. From the moment you arrive, you are treated with utmost care with quality. Nicko and Angela are the best of the best in their roles as host and care takers of this charming establishment The four course breakfast is an experience in itself. Angela and Nicko go above and beyond to make sure their guest have the best experiences while visiting old town Rhodes. I cant wait to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kokkini Porta Rossa. Having travelled for many years and having stayed in many different accommodations throughout the world, the breakfast here was by far the most enjoyable. Superb attention to details, ingredients and presentation as well as being absolutely delicious and nutritious in a wonderful garden setting. The ground floor room with private courtyard met every expectation and was a pleasure to stay in. Overall the attention to detail and the effort made by both hosts and the staff was outstanding. If ever you were to travel to Rhodes you would find no better accommodation.
Amazing boutique hotel in the perfect location in the old time. We loved everything about our stay including breakfast, cocktails in the room, the room and facilities as well as our personalised daily plan from Nikos and of course the entire team at Kokkini Porta Rosa. We will be back!!
Our friends recommended that we stay at KPR and basically we had no choice having heard about their amazing experience. We've tracked quite a bit and have stayed at some great places but nothing compares to this. Everything was perfect - the overall ambiance, the gorgeous rooms, the delicious breakfasts and of course, the hosts' remarkable attention to detail and planning. Nikos and Angela and their staff are amazing and we cannot wait to come back. They treat you like family.
I can’t say enough about this place. The owners and staff couldn’t do enough for us. We felt like guests in their home. It felt so personal. This boutique hotel is very special! We were really sad to leave. I look forward to returning one day
Fantastic boutique hotel located in a quiet part of old Rhodes. Nikos and Angela have created a beautiful sanctuary, and go out of their way to make your experience exceptional. They and their staff are so lovely! I would not stay anywhere else!
The hosts were really helpful and went above and beyond to assist and show what Rhodes has to offer and we could draw on their extensive local knowledge. Delicious breakfast and wonderful service, served in their lovely courtyard. When we had to leave earlier than breakfast service started, they prepared a takeaway pack for us which was also a great. selection of tasty items.
No suggestions for improvements
Our stay at Kokkini Porta Rossa could not have been more pleasant. We felt as if we were staying at a very nice private house and the owners, Nikos and Angela, anticipated our every need. They made suggestions for activities and meals every day, and their custom-made app guided and directed us as we explored the island and beyond. The delicious breakfasts were prepared in their own kitchen, featured local dishes and were served in their courtyard. Our room was extremely comfortable with personal touches, and we loved our private garden. We give our highest recommendation!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kokkini Porta Rossa. The rooms are nicely appointed including beautiful historical artifacts. Our hosts were delightful and helpful making arrangement for our tours, our meals and anything else we needed. The breakfasts were an epicurean delight. The website they have created that is curated to your room and provides easy links for navigation was very helpful. You will be very pleased with your stay should you choose this hotel.
Wonderful luxury suite; beautifully appointed throughout. The unlimited bar - both in the room & in the salon - very welcome, & included in the booking charge. Personal service at breakfast - very refined indeed. The hosts untiring in their efforts to ensure every detail of the stay spot on: restaurant bookings & excursions. Delightful courtyard. Historic ambience Superb central location
Very special place. Quiet, walking distance to everything in Rhodes Old Town - all the sites and restaurants, and easy access to the new part of town. The rooms and common areas are thoughtfully put together, beautiful, welcoming and comfortable. Nikos and Angela have created a space that feels like home. They provide for everything - including incredible breakfasts & amazing amenities. Nikos provides detailed information and amazing itineraries for guests for each day based on guest’s interests, including maps, a special app that tells you EVERYTHING you may need to know, and a tablet to go to ensure you have proper directions (trust me, you need it if you’re driving anywhere!). The staff was incredible. If you have the opportunity to stay at Kokkini Porta Rossa - do it!
What an amazing, unforgettable place to stay, everything we read in previous reviews is true. From the moment you arrive you get the sense that you are going to be very well looked after and the hospitality that Nikos, Angela and Giulio provide is second to none. They are clearly passionate in ensuring every single guest has the best individually tailored experience possible. They will plan and book anything you need. The breakfasts are on another level. We had an amazing week and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to any one . We would also recommend trying the collection of drinks provided in the room, a couple that we had never heard of soon became our go to aperitif before going out in the evening.
感觉非常好,房东非常热情周到细致,让人感觉到了家的温暖,很贴心,感谢主人让我们有了一次非常愉快的旅行!一切都很完美!

Amazing stay in a unique location, with all the 5* bells and whistles as advertised. The rave reviews really are true…. We were very fortunate to also receive a complimentary upgrade to a suite and an extra day of access due to a very late flight home. Nikos and Angela are superb hosts full of genuine advice and suggestions that make all aspects of your holiday better. Julia is also amazing, super attentive and charming, making her own supplementary recommendations which were excellent. Book in for as long as you can, relax and let professionals take care of you.
First basics out of the way, not the cheapest stay but worth every euro, value for money. All areas sparklingly clean. Bedrooms and bathrooms immaculate with a great selection of toiletries, towels etc. The hotel is very aware of protecting the environment, water conservation on a small island etc. and respected our request not to change bed linen, towels etc on a daily basis.! I cannot speak more highly of all aspects this wonderful hotel. Hotel positioned within easy access to all points of interest in Rhodes Town and further afield. On entry to the hotel you are immediately aware that you have selected a beautifully appointed hotel with welcoming experienced staff ready to provide a relaxed and comfortable stay. Not done your homework on what to see, where to go, no worries, Nikos provides detailed information on the island he and his wife Angela love. Looking at the prompts on writing a revue, beautiful well appointed rooms, (and we secured a guided tour, two nosey sisters!) general areas comfortable, tastefully decorated, gorgeous enclosed courtyard, enjoy the most delicious breakfast there. Don’t miss Angela’s homemade Lemon and Pink Pepper conserve. Service and amenities, how about a help yourself drinks selection accessible on your return after an evening relaxing in any of the many restaurants. Customer care, just everything, including on a slightly chilly day the loan of a beautiful cashmere and silk pashmina to ensure this guests comfort. Yes, I am an unashamed fan of Nikos, Angela and their team, and I hope to pay a return visit. Rosemary
Kókkini Porta Rossa is an absolute gem! The hotel itself is a work of art with so many intricate details, a subtle, nuanced style, amazing collections that you can just wander around look at and you somehow feel like you are in a museum and your own home at the same time. Everything is so accessible it's just fun. Nikos and Angela are so welcoming and you immediately feel comfortable with them. From arranging my day trip to Symi, helping me find a guide for my full day tour of Rhodes, locating a local bicycle shop so I could have a great ride they were there for everything but never intrusive, just always helpful and friendly. The rooms, ah the rooms! Just like the hotel itself works of art but also done in a way that you feel right at home. I often stay in larger chains with cookie cutter rooms, but occasionally stay at smaller boutique hotels, and honestly this was one of, if not the nicest accommodations I have ever had regardless of size. Sure big hotels can have more things like spas, etc, but the feel and experience at Kókkini Porta Rossa is unparalleled. Angela's homemade jams (yum!) breakfasts that are too delicious to describe with all sorts of little touches (bee pollen!?!) I was so impressed. The location in the old town is perfect, close enough for a short walk to the heart of it but just a little bit away so you are not in the constant hustle and bustle of tourists. Stay here for a truly magnificent experience that you will cherish for years to come.
Quite simply perfection! A beautifully restored medieval building filled with beautiful things! Nikos and Angela are highly professional hoteliers and anticipate your every need before you’ve thought of it yourself! Every aspect of the hotel is of the highest standard. Having stayed in a number of good boutique hotels, this stands out above the rest. Not wanting to sound gushing but this was as much an experience as a first class hotel.
Stayed at Kokkini Porta Rossa for three nights as the start to our trip to Greece, and it could not have been more lovely. The amount of thought that Nikos, Angela and their team have put into every detail really shines through, from the customizable home-cooked breakfasts to the carefully curated books, drinks and other amenities in the rooms to the unique and charming character of each space. We loved having breakfast in the garden each day including Angela's exceptional cooking. Nikos was also an admirable host who took the time to recommend restaurants and guides and to help us curate our journey. We were particularly impressed at the customized itineraries and recommendations, including a dedicated app, that he and the team put together for us - really enabling us to get the most out of Rhodes Old Town in a limited time. The location was also quite convenient to everything we wanted to see. Genuinely this may have been the best and most thoughtful hotel I have ever stayed at, both in terms of how it was designed and also in terms of the day-to-day friendly hospitality. Thank you!
We stayed at Kokkini Port Rossa about six months ago and wrote a review at that time, but feel the need to write again. This may seem odd, but I don't think a day has gone by since our visit that I haven't had fond memories of our time there. Everything you've read about the hotel being well appointed, the delicious breakfasts, great quiet location, etc. are true. But what stays so fondly with me after this much time are my memories of the family and staff. Nikos, Angela, Paris and Guilia made us feel so embraced and cared for, like they really wanted our visit to Rhodes to be the best it could be. They are absolutely elegant hosts. Never has a hotel lingered in my heart like Kokkini Porto Rossa. I hope you stay there and have the same experience.
We had a lovely time at the Kokkini Porta Rossa. It's a lovely suite only hotel in the Medieval city of Rhodes. We stayed in Deniz and our 2 children stayed in Gülbin. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated and very spacious. We had a balcony overlooking the main road and the city wall. It was a nice place to sit and people watch. Our children loved their suite too. The rooms were very well insulated and quiet. The beds were comfortable. I loved that it did not feel like a hotel but rather like a very upscale bed and breakfast. They provided fruits, snacks drinks and a stellar breakfast service. There's a delightful walled garden where you can sit for breakfast (and at other times too). The hosts were so helpful. We had just 3 days and they helped us plan our activities. Nikos gave excellent suggestions for dining options and shopping too. The tablets they provide are a stroke of genius. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Nikos, Angela and their son Paris were the most generous and caring hosts. They go out of their way to ensure you have exactly the kind of experience on Rhodes that you want, relaxing or active, helping you plan each day. The rooms are exquisite and comfortable. And we haven’t mentioned the extraordinary home-cooked breakfasts! We were sent home with a jar of our favourite jam, from the selection offered each morning.
This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Every little thing is catered for, the service was perfect, wonderful location and charming well informed owners - who have their own app suggesting places to visit. Wonderful breakfast. Cannot praise them to highly. Try it for yourselves and see!
Our stay at Kókkini Porta Rossa was truly memorable. The property is beautiful, warm, and full of character, and the hospitality made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. One of the highlights was the owner introducing me to Metaxa 12 Stars, which made the experience feel personal and distinctly Greek. The location in Rhodes Old Town was also perfect, close to everything yet still peaceful and special. We would gladly stay there again.
Excellent location, cleanliness, noise level, atmosphere, sincerity of Owners and Staff (Julia). Excellent amenities. Hotel exceeded our expectations with recommended experiences, personalized maps and afternoon snacks and beverages. Rooms were spacious with many amenities. Nikos recommended excellent restaurants and ice cream shop. Angela, Nikos and Julie are personable, friendly and eager to help. Tim
Kokkini Porta Rossa was one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in. The building is so beautiful and tastefully decorated, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the lobby areas are welcoming and relaxing. But the best part of this staff was the owners and the staff. They were welcoming, friendly, helpful -- lovely people! The breakfast each morning was an experience in itself - several courses of homemade deliciousness! What a treat to start each day this way.
We had a great trip to Rhodes, due largely to our choice of hotel! We loved the space itself, but what made our stay so special were the hosts, Nikos and Angela, and their amazing staff. Nikos provided us with a recommended day’s itinerary each morning, including the best sights and restaurants. Staying inside the medieval walled Old Town made our trip memorable! I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel to everyone visiting Rhodes.
Nikos, his family and colleagues provide a wonderful Greek experience. Within the Old Town and few a few minutes walk from the wonders of Rhodes Old Town; nearby restaurants, bars, museums and this wonderful hotel make Rhodes town our favourite town on this beautiful Greek island
We had a wonderful stay ! We came twice and the two suites we had were vast, decorated with personality and attention to detail that makes you feel comfortable and experience what makes Rhodes unique. Nicos and Angela are perfect hosts, and all the team is lovely and considerate. Breakfast is also quite an experience, savory and authentic. In a place like Rhodes, with lots of touristy spots, having the curated advice and thoughtful suggestions of our hosts, as well as the app are definitely something that drastically changed our travel. Thanks to their taste and knowledge, we could not have had a better stay and experience of the island and city !
Excellent staying. The owners are very caring, lovers of details and provide you of a very useful digital map with lots of resources.
We felt so fortunate to discover Kókkini Porta Rossa. This intimate boutique hotel was elegant, quiet and so perfectly welcoming, it made our visit to old town Rhodes as perfect as it could be. Nikos and Angela saw to our every need from breakfast to planning each day of touring the old town and the island as well. We could go on and on about the eclectic and elegant decor, son Paris playing the piano, complementary amenities , creative and seasonal breakfast options and Julia's lovely service, but the bottom line is that this was probably one of our favorite stays ever. It's been weeks and I still think back fondly of it. Treat yourself, you won't be sorry.
Exceptional ! A really lovely hotel attached to the medieval walls. There was remarkable attention to detail to ensure that guests have everything that they need. Guidance on what to see and restaurants to visit was first class and much appreciated. A tablet to show directions is even provided. The breakfasts were amazing…Highly recommended !
I have never been treated with the care, love, thoughtfulness as I have during this visit. Not only was the accommodations everything we could ask for with 3 people and rich with culture...the team was simply lovely and real. We had some snafus with things we booked due to weather and Nikos was right there helping us with alternatives. When we didn't know where to go for dinner, he asked questions about our likes and provided wonderful recommendations and called to let them know we were coming. This stay was the last of 12 day journey and the timing was perfect...relaxing, educational, enjoyable, and genuine. Thank you so much for making our trip of a lifetime truly a trip of a lifetime, you will forever be in our hearts.
My partner and I had the most amazing, romantic two days on Rhodes, and staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa made the experience truly unforgettable. This five-star hotel, run by a wonderful family, offers the best of both worlds: the refinement and comfort of a luxury hotel combined with the intimacy, warmth, and personal touch of a small family-run guesthouse. Nikos and his family, along with the entire hotel team, genuinely embody the Greek concept of filoxenia — a word that captures the spirit of heartfelt hospitality and the deep-rooted Greek tradition of treating guests as dear friends. From the moment we arrived, we felt not just welcomed, but genuinely cared for. Nikos, the owner, has an impressive knowledge of the medieval city and personally helped us plan a two-day itinerary perfectly tailored to our interests and tastes. Our plans were beautifully organised and easily accessible through a custom web app provided by the hotel, which made exploring the old town effortless and enjoyable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious — fresh, authentic, and full of local flavours that beautifully reflect Rhodes’ culinary traditions. The hotel also offers an amazing selection of drinks and snacks, which adds to the sense of comfort and indulgence throughout the stay. The hotel’s motto, “hospitality with care,” shines through in every detail — from the thoughtful amenities to the little surprises left in our room. These small touches create an atmosphere of genuine warmth that turns a stay into a cherished memory. In every sense, Kokkini Porta Rossa exceeded our expectations. It’s a place where luxury meets soul, where every guest is treated like family, and where the beauty of Rhodes’ medieval city is matched only by the kindness of its hosts.

This review synthesizes a truly exceptional hotel experience, defined by exceptionally high standards and personalized service by Nikos and the family that began long before arrival and continued after departure. The hotel's outstanding location within the historic, cobblestone streets of Rhodes' Old Town created an enchanting and unique backdrop for the entire stay.
From the moment we arrived at this beautiful hotel we were given the most incredible experience. From the hibiscus tea while we signed in and given a detailed plan of excursions Nikos had been so kind to put together for us so each day we had a full itinerary of exciting days out in Old Town, Lindos and Symi Island. We were even given a car to travel to out of the way hidden gems! The hotel room we booked was breathtaking, spotlessly clean, well stocked with everything you could need and the highlight being its own private garden with plunge pool..the perfect end to a wonderful day exploring Rhodes, soaking in the pool with a drink from the mini bar in our room. Breakfast was served every day with a new and tasty surprise to enjoy each morning, 4 courses to be exact. My partner even received a gift from Nikos and his wonderful family as it was his birthday while staying at the hotel. Our flight home wasn't until later in the evening so we were given an available room at no extra charge to store our cases and relax in until it was time to go, we were picked up from the hotel in a cart and then dropped off at our taxi to travel to the airport, all of which was arranged by Nikos. We are already planning our next trip and we cannot wait to stay here again! 5 stars isn't a high enough rating for this place! The most stunning, incredible hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at.
I have never before felt so excited about a place that I needed to write the review before I left the airport so that I didn’t forget to capture any detail of how wonderful it was. We are well travelled and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed. To say that efforts are made to ensure every moment of your stay is phenomenal is an understatement. The hotel itself is a gem - as many have already said. The finer points, the attention to detail, the beautiful decor, the fascinating decor - all appreciated. Cleanliness and facilities exceptional. Everything has been thought of. But it goes beyond that to a warmth of welcome that ensures that by the time you leave you feel you are leaving behind friends. I felt quite emotional when I left. Angela and Nikos provide a personalised experience that compares to nowhere else we have stayed. They worked with us to plan our days to perfectly align with our interests. I will treasure Nikos hand annotated maps forever. Angela is the warmest of hosts, a beautiful cook (breakfast again exceptional) and Paris provides musical ambiance in the morning and evening that completes frankly the perfect atmosphere. We also enjoyed many an interesting chat every day with Julia over breakfast. Thank you - thank you for your hospitality. We will remember it forever and hope to return!
A truly fantastic holiday at the Kokkini Porta Rossa with a level of hospitality you won't find anywhere else in Rhodes. If you like lazing by the pool listening to children splashing around, then this is not for you! If however you prefer a prime location in the heart of the old town with beautiful, characterful rooms, delicious authentically Greek breakfasts and the friendliest of hosts that'll do anything to make your stay perfect, then you have to come here! After our 1st visit, this has become one of those hotels that you'd visit a country just to stay there. We can't recommend this hotel enough and are looking forward to returning soon. Thank you again to Nikos and all the team for making our visit so special.
It feels like being home, the decor is very stylish and the owners extremely kind and welcoming
Nothing
Kokkini is a place where they go the extra mile(s). They thought about everything, both efficiency wise as in terms of ambience, quality and details. It's one of the most elegant places I've stayed. The owners and staff added definitely to that. You start your day with a delicious and refined breakfast, after a day of sightseeing you come back in their serene atmosphere where you can make use of the open bar while Paris is playing piano and you enjoy pure calmness in the patio. They have a lot of recommendations for you and know the good places in any segment you like for that day. Nikos sends quite some information upfront, my tip is to read it through carefully and chat with him upfront. It will safe you headspace, time while being there and you will definitely see the best places around. We loved to see the island, especially the history of it. Kokkini would be a reason for us to return to. Besides staying with you it was lovely to meet you. All your effort didn't go unnoticed. Keep up your beautiful work, so that others can continue to enjoy your special place in the future, and who knows, we will too again. Thank you Nikos, Angela, Paris, Julia and the rest of the staff. Wishing you all the best.
We had a wonderful stay at Kókkini Porta Rossa, our hostesses Angela and Nikos were the best, and made our stay so comfortable. Their personal touch and warmth through their services made us feel home at once. Greeting us every morning with a delicious breakfast, and suggestions for the exploring of our day. In the evenings we enjoyed a drink in the backyard, accompanied by the beautiful piano tones from Paris. The hotel has 6.suites, and is so beautiful decorated with many historical items to research. The hotel is located just inside the town walls, in a quiet neighbourhood. Since I’m in a manual wheelchair I had been in contact with Nikos multiple times prior to our stay, both on mail and phone to make sure that everything would work out ok. I think maybe he was a bit nervous😜but Nikos you made our stay so easy and comfortable. We stayed in the ground floor suite Orhan. Though the hotel is not 100% adaptable for wheelchairs, there were ramps in our suite, and at the back door which we used to enter the hotel. The hotel has its own app, and there they made suggestions for what to visit, and where to eat, and they booked all the reservations for us. They also booked guided tours, both for a tour of the island, and for the Medieval town. So thank you again for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back one day. Love Kirsti&Paul
My husband and I traveled to Athens, Crete and Rhodes. In total we stayed at 4 different hotels to accommodate our travel plans. On Rhodes Island, we originally planned to stay at a resort in Kiotari for 4 nights, but luckily our travel advisor told us that we would be making a mistake if we didn’t spend at least 2 nights in the Kokkini Porta Rossa. We took her advice and this turned out to be one of the best hotels that we ever stayed at! We arrived in the evening and Nikos immediately sat down with us ( with a glass of wine ;) to make sure that we could start to enjoy our time in Rhodes and we were able to go out for a great dinner. Nikos called ahead to a restaurant for us to let them know that we were on our way and also secured us a table on the rooftop with a fabulous view of the city center. Nikos told us about the “must-see” places that are all either a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. Our 4 course breakfasts at the hotel were AMAZING! Our first morning we were served Crepes with mushrooms, Greek yogurt with a delicious mix of fresh fruits and spices, a terrific egg dish and desert. It was the best breakfast! Nikos and Angela continued to make us feel welcomed as honored guests, even though we are just 2 regular people. I can not remember the name of the young woman who served us our food,(sorry) but she was a delight to talk to as well! The way that the hotel is decorated was nothing short of amazing. Every detail in every space in the hotel was beautiful. Our room was gorgeous, this includes the bathroom and the sitting room! The only thing I would change is that I would have stayed at this hotel for more days!
I have never been so excited to write a review before! My stay at Kokkini Porta Rosa exceeded every expectation and has become the best accommodation I have ever experienced. I’ve travelled a lot and stayed in many 5-star hotels and resorts where luxury and opulence take centre stage, but this charming, wholesome, and heart-warming boutique hotel stands far above the rest. It’s family-owned and operated, and they truly go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcomed and cared for. The personal touches were exceptional.. from selecting your pillow preference before arrival, to the incredible four-course breakfast each morning (honestly, the best food I’ve ever eaten), the complimentary drinks and snacks, a complimentary car hire to explore the island for a day, and even an iPad app with a personalised itinerary and tailored recommendations for each of your days. I felt like I had been welcomed into a family home filled with warmth, comfort, and genuine care. You can feel the love and dedication that Nikos and Angela pour into every detail. Their son’s beautiful piano playing each night was the sweetest touch. This is something you will never experience at a high-end resort where you are just another number. Here, you are treated as family with utmost care. I was genuinely sad to leave. My only regret is that I didn’t stay longer! If you visit Rhodes, please stay here.. it’s an experience you’ll never forget. I can’t wait to return. ~ Alana
Hospitality like you have never experienced before. Pack lightly and let Nikos and his family take good care of you. They have thought of everything and you will not be left for wanting. We spent four wonderful nights at Kokkini. Everything was perfect - the warm welcome, the comfort of our room (every little detail has been thought of), the delicious and creative breakfasts served with such good humour by Julia, Paris on the piano, the complimentary drinks before and after dinner, or just any time you like. And then of course the guidance provided by Nikos, which saved us a huge amount of time in researching what places to visit, how to get there where to eat etc. All his suggestions were spot on. His app is an ingenious idea and simple to use and we are grateful for all the arrangements Nikos made on our behalf. We availed of a tour guide and had an enjoyable few hours with Tsambika learning about Rhodes. We hired a car for the following day and got to do most of the itinerary suggested. My favourite stop was Villa de Vecchi for its eerie atmosphere and the village restaurant Paraga was the perfect place for lunch. We spent our final day ambling through the streets of the Old Town, doing some shopping and then spending a relaxing afternoon in Kokkini's beautiful courtyard. Thankyou Nikos, Angela, Paris and Julia for a such a memorable stay. Kokkini is a unique and very special place. We are glad that we got to experience it.
From before you check in the hosts at this wonderful hotel are already dedicating time to make sure your stay is as good as possible. We found ourself saying “they have thought of everything” as anything we would want to make the stay more comfortable and enjoyable had been done. Nico’s and Angela helped by giving us an itinerary sculpted to what we would like to see and do & their recommendations were spot on, restaurants, sites, places of interest, walks, everything. The suite was beautiful and in fact the quality of the rooms, dining area and everything was outstanding. Breakfast was delicious and served with grace and enthusiasm. Truly 5-star, cannot be faulted
Our first time in Rhodes. This is one of the best boutique hotels we ever stayed at. Our room was very, very tastefully decarated and all conveniences thought out in detail. Ditto the lobby and the courtyard ehere we emjoyed Angela’s special breakfasts. Niko is a great host and a tremendous tour advisor who prepared daily tour suggestions for us both for walking in old town and driving around th island. And of course on where to eat, have drink or lick on an ice cream.
If you are lucky enough to find a room available at Kokkini Porta Rossa, you should hurry to book it, even if the nightly rate is higher than at many other hotels. When we arrived at the hotel, we were seated and taken through what we wanted to see and do. We then received a personalized plan on how we could experience everything we wished for. Nikos pointed us toward unforgettable restaurants and cafés. We were also given tips on “hidden gems” that we otherwise would have missed. Breakfast was unlike anything else and was enjoyed in a beautiful outdoor courtyard, with the service being outstanding. A wonderful fruit basket, fine wine, and many other thoughtful details were all included. The rooms were very spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and every single detail was carefully considered. We lacked nothing. The hotel has a very cozy lounge, and it was a delight to sit there and listen to a staff member play beautiful music. The service was personal, and we ended up seeing and doing much more than we ever dreamed of during our three days. We can’t wait to return.
A wonderful place to stay in Rhodes - great location - wonderful hotel and staff
Kokkini Porta Rossa is that rare accommodation gem where everything just clicks. From the moment you enter the beautifully restored old building, you experience a degree of hospitality that is unique for its warmth and attentiveness. Yet at the same time it is quietly understated. Nikos, Angela and the team seamlessly manage to make you feel like one of the family, truly a special guest. They are singleminded in their attention to the individual needs of each guest. This is shown by Nikos’ individually prepared itinerary recommendations for each of his guests, Angela’s delicious breakfast creations, and the thoughtful touches in guest rooms. The hotel is a unique, boutique experience. Rooms are large and generously appointed. Breakfasts are delicious and served in a lovely internal courtyard. In the evenings guests can relax to Paris playing on the piano. The hotel is located just inside the walls of Old Rhodes and, as such, is ideally located for visiting the treasures of the city. Tricia and I cannot recommend Kokkini more highly. It truly is a rare gem!
Perfection. No other word will cover it. Ideal location for the old town. Nikos Angela and Paris have taken and take endless care to ensure every detail of your stay and time is the best. Not to mention the amazing breakfasts…
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kokkini Porta Rossa. Our hosts were very attentive and interested in making our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The attention to detail and the exemplary service we received was unmatched in comparison to choosing a large and impersonal hotel. We would definitely go back whenever we are in Rhodes.
This hotel is amazing. The location is perfect for exploring the medieval city. The owners are delightful and will do anything for you. They made our stay really special. If we go back to Rhodes we won’t stay anywhere else!
I was travelling to Rhodes for a week on a solo trip and wanted to somewhere boutique and comfortable whilst exploring. I hit jackpot for this when i came across Kokkini Porta Rosa! Nikos and Angela have made sure all your needs are catered for in their beautiful hotel. Clearly experienced in making an individualized intimate approach. And you get a sense they really love doing this for you as well as all the staff. I would highly recommend this hotel as a unique high quality experience of being in Rhodes town.
The Kókkini Porta Rossa is undoubtedly the most beautiful, unique piece of work I’ve ever seen. The craftsmanship of each room is so unique and elegant that you’ll be amazed by how it was created. That’s just the beginning, the proprietors, Nikos and Angela are simply amazing, Nikos describes every aspect of the property, the incredible history and culture of Rhodes. Angela with her exquisite taste in decor is also the culinary inspiration by each course they serve for breakfast! It no wonder they received the Michelin key in excellence! Tim McCarthy (USA)
Staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa is a superb experience. I have never been treated with more care and thoughtfulness. The hospitality the Voulgaridis family and their staff provide is personal and with incredible attention to each and every detail to make your stay the very best you've ever experienced. The love they have for this property and joy they exhibit in sharing it with their guests was evident throughout my stay. I felt taken care of, watched out for, and wholly pampered. The rooms are lovely (I stayed in two of the suites) and appointed with unique and special items that added to the magical charm of my stay. The beds, pillows, and linens are comfortable and high quality. The only thing I would improve on is having some drawers in the sleeping spaces to enable one to unpack from the suitcase to settle in. Other than that - perfection! The breakfast that was prepared for me each day was outstanding. Oh my goodness! What a terrific way to start the day. I did not expect such a treat. As you journey out, there is an app you get to use which is the best tool to effectively explore Rhodes Island. So helpful and well-curated! I could go on and on about the positive reasons for staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa. If you are going to Rhodes, I encourage you to stay here for the best experience you can imagine. I anticipated I was going to stay at a special place and Kokkini Porta Rossa totally exceeded my expectations. Efharisto!
Our stay at the Kokkini Porta Rossa in Rhodos was awesome. We were there for one Week end of August, beginning of September 2025. Great location in the Medieval Town of Rhodos. The sightseeing attractions were at a walking distance, the beach too. The owners of the hotel welcome warmely their guests. The service is perfect. Breakfast is vegetarien and homemade with love. I only can recommend this place.
Without a doubt the most exceptional hotel we’ve ever stayed at because it was the whole package: excellent and kind service, unbelievably delicious breakfasts, a daily suggested schedule that made sightseeing fun and insightful, a wonderful room and great hosts with Niko, Angela, Juliet and team. This hotel was recommended to us by two separate family friends as the place to go in Rhodes, but it topped even those lofty expectations.
Some great finds are difficult to share - this is one you just want to keep to yourself! Kokkini Porta Rossa provides a luxury oasis carefully crafted by Nikos and Angela who make you feel like your comfort and enjoyment are the sole purpose of their day - never too rushed to book a restaurant, draw up a personal itinerary or share some of their vast knowledge. This is a porta rossa you will want the key to, so as you can return again and again.
What a unique property. And what awesome hosts. We were treated like royalty. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel.
Such a perfect home base you hesitate to leave to take in the beauty and history of Rhodes. We had the pleasure of spending four days in the Michelis suite; the luxury, historical charm and comfort (plunge pool after a day on the go!) were only rivaled by common areas of Kokkini Porta Rosa’s and our hosts. Rhodes offers such beauty and history for exploration and being based in the Medieval town is the way to make the most of your stay.
An extraordinary experience! We have traveled internationally a great deal, but this is definitely the most charming place we have ever stayed. The owners designed every aspect of this beautiful home-like inn. The decor is artful and historic. Our "room" was a two story suite with living room, bedroom and study. Breakfast was a graciously served meal in the romantic patio. Our host was so knowledgable that we were glad to have him arrange our days. He has created an app that lets him provide a personalized itinerary for each guest. In our case, it included a private tour with a historian who explained the sequence of peoples who inhabited the island over the centuries and showed us examples of their architecture and artifacts. Our host provided recommendations for museums, walks, restaurants. Some evenings when we returned, their talented musician son was playing classical music on the piano. We left Kokkini Porta Rossa reluctantly, eager to tell our friends about this special island and our memorable stay.
This is not your usual hotel. This is not even your usual boutique hotel. Nikos will make your trip (not only your stay) a one-in-a-lifetime experience and will make sure you get the most out of Rhodes.
Many hotels show a 5 star rating and we thought we knew what that meant in general, but that standard has been extremely elevated after staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa. Just outstanding from the moment we arrived till the time we left. We were treated like family and I think that really says it all.
This hotel is in a league of its own, not only because of the fantastic location and architecture but largely as a result of the hard work, imagination, sophistication, passion and soul the owners have infused in it. It was truly an out of this world experience and we look forward to returning to Kokkini Porta Rossa.
Kokkini Porta Rossa is an amazing hotel right in the heart of medieval Rhodes. Nikos and his wife and their staff are incredibly kind and thoughtful. The hotel app, daily schedule and maps that Nikos prepares make visiting and enjoying Rhodes a real pleasure. Breakfast is delicious. The lobby, garden and suites are well-appointed and decorated. Every detail is just perfect. We will definitely stay there again when we go back to Rhodes. Highly recommended!
Amazing expérience : beautifull room with so many details attentions and huge sens of service of the owners. Delicious breakfeasts.
Truly outstanding stay! We enjoyed every moment of staying at Kokkini Porta Rossa as part of our honeymoon and hope that we can come back. Niko was so helpful in giving us recommendations and helping to plan our itinerary around Rhodes. The custom app is an incredible tool to help you navigate the island in the best possible way. Angela’s magical breakfasts made the start of each day a true delight. The accommodations are beautiful and special. A truly unique place to stay. Highly highly recommend!
We have traveled the world and have been fortunate to stay in so many remarkable places, and our Hosts at Kokkini were the absolute best we’ve ever experienced! As our 28 year old daughter said “it feels like we’re staying with family “. Additionally, the property was immaculate and thoroughly thought out with attention to every detail one could hope for.
When a hotel and its hosts accomplish perfection coupled with warmth, it simply stays with you and delights long after you say goodbye. We have stayed at many beautiful, luxurious hotels in the US and Europe, but in my opinion, Kokkini Porta Rossa far surpasses them all, especially if you gravitate towards elegant yet supremely comfortable, smaller boutique hotels that express the local culture. Physically exquisite and inviting in its medieval renovations— so much so that passersby’s often entered, mistaking the hotel for a historical landmark— its designs are a feast for the eyes that beckon you to sit down, sip a cocktail that’s always offered by the incredible hosts Niko and Angela, and take in the decorative art, books, historical objects, and garden patio. Every spacious suite’s decor is unique and possesses everything the hosts can imagine you’d want: including ever- replenished complimentary fruit, wine, liquor, plus all sorts of items they predict may be needed by someone at some time (pull-out clotheslines in the bathroom, for example). Breakfasts on the patio are Angela’s creation, and are sumptuous and delicious; and every day is an opportunity to hear as much as you’d like from Nikos about how to improve on your daily adventures in Rhodes. His advice and knowledge are impressive, always tailored to your interests. I could go on and on, but very simply— magical.
I can't say enough good things about Kokkini Porta Rossa, possibly the most enjoyable hotel stay we've ever had. The location, a short walk from St John's Gate inside the walled city, is perfect for a visit to Rhodes Town. The hotel is immaculate and filled with interesting collections of books and objects of interest. Our suite was spacious, homey and comfortable despite its being beautiful, and every small detail was thoughtfully attended to. A delicious breakfast was served each morning with the same thoughtful care as the rest of the hotel. Our hosts, Nikos and Angela, were delightful, friendly, interested in us, eminently knowledgeable about Rhodes and eager to get to know us and our interests in order to be of the greatest possible assistance, which they were. We had an itinerary planned, which we learned Nikos had worked on with our trip planner, and after meeting us and discussing our interests, he helped tweak it to make it even better. Each day, we were greeted upon our return from the day's adventures with curiosity about our experience, and a desire to keep their information current, from restaurants to excursions of all sorts. Everything, from the in-room amenities, to the cocktails and treats prepared if we liked after an evening's meal, to Nikos and Angela's son Paris' piano music each evening, everything about our stay was flawless. Until this experience I would not have considered visiting Rhodes again from California, but Kokkini Porta Rossa makes a compelling case to do so.
We loved our experience at Kokkini Porta Rossa. Nikos and Angela were fabulous hosts and so generous in sharing their time and experience. The hotel is incredibly well located in the Old City and is truly beautiful and Angela's breakfasts were a highlight each day. Nikos touring tips were priceless, and we were able to visit some brilliant sites across the island. Highly recommended.
From the moment we landed to the morning we left the staff was extremely helpful. Setting up taxi rides, restaurant reservations, boat excursions etc. Our room was comfy and the hotel is decorated with tastefully with historical items. I would highly rec!
From the moment we arrived until we left, we were completely wowed. The room was absolutely fantastic, the breakfast was simply unbelievable, and the hospitality was altogether outstanding. We travel extensively, and I can truly say that this is one of the best small hotels that I’ve ever stayed at. Nikos and Angela made us feel completely welcome and at home. They even provided us with an app for our phone that had thoughtfully curated activities as well as restaurant recommendations tailored to us. It was a wonderful experience.
Amazing location, huge room with buckets of character (Nikos very kindly upgraded us!) The owners are so thoughtful and continuously went above and beyond to make our stay perfect - including coming up with daily personalised sight seeing itineraries as well as booking the best restaurants for us.
Nothing
Slept like babies ! What a wonderful , unique and historic family run hotel . Felt so looked after by Nikkos , Angela and the staff . Thank you for looking after us so well . Best breakfast ever
Nikos and Angela are incredible hosts. They welcome you to their fantastically well maintained property like it was their own home. Their advice, guidance and assistance will get the best out of any visit with detailed instructions to support to see the top sites and visit the best restaurants. We will be back!
Nothing at all.
A home from home. Exceptionally engaging and knowledgable hosts, who still manage to respect your privacy. They went out of their way to make the stay as comfortable, enjoyable and memorable as possible. The daily planned itinerary, backed up on a dedicated tablet, was a unique touch. They went one step further and very quickly helped to sort out a medical issue I had on arrival. This kind of support is priceless. We arrived as guests and left as friends…
Absolutely INCREDIBLE service - they truly went above and beyond and exceeded expectations! Can't recommend this place enough and would definitely stay there again! Worth every penny!
Amazing place, amazing hosts in an amazing setting! Kokkini Porto Rossa has thought of everything to make your stay unforgettable. Nikos, Angela and son Paris will make you feel welcome from the start. From incredible breakfasts in the courtyard to evening drinks, you won’t want to leave. But, Rhodes is a magical place and Nikos will customize an itinerary based on your time and interests. Special shout out to Julia, who was able to track down and retrieve a cell phone left in our rental car.
A home from home. Exceptionally engaging and knowledgable hosts, who still manage to respect your privacy. They went out of their way to make the stay as comfortable, enjoyable and memorable as possible. We arrived as guests and left as friends…
It is expensive compared to other properties, but absolutely worth it!
My husband, son and I cannot even begin to write about how much we enjoyed our stay with Angela, Nikos and Paris. Everything was absolutely perfect from the perfectly restored room/hotel to the elegant 4 course breakfasts and site seeing/restaurant recommendations. The attention to detail and perfection was incredible. But, most of all, we were made to feel so welcomed and left feeling like family. Nothing in Greece, or probably anywhere, can top what we had at the Kokkini Porta Rossa and the magic you served there. How lucky are we, that we listened to our world traveled friends recommendations who said your hotel was the most romantic, warm and beautiful hotel they have ever stayed at?! And you were amazing!
Breakfast was excellent
We had an amazing time at kokkini porta Rossa. Nikos and Angela took care of us down to the finest detail. From recommended itineraries to restaurant recommendations. Every aspect of our stay was augmented by their invaluable suggestions. And our gorgeous suite Delicious breakfasts ! With dessert! Our stay in the medieval town of Rhodes Was very special . We would not hesitate to recommend kokkini Rossa. Ps we had the bonus of Paris skillled piano playing ….. Thank you
I can't say enough good things about this boutique hotel. The whole place was charming! I can't think of a better word! Nikos and Angela (the owners and managers) make your experience seamless. Nikos curates each of your days so that you make the most of your stay on Rhodes. Angela is warm and welcoming! The 4 course breakfast (that comes with your stay) is the best I have ever had! And it is served so elegantly! Each evening Angela makes drinks to enjoy in the courtyard (which is also included with your stay.) If you are lucky enough, you may be able to enjoy your cocktails with their son Paris playing the piano. The property is well curated with antiques and has a collected feel that is simply so well done! The location is perfect to walk around Old Town Rhodes. The hotel is spotless and well maintined. All your amentities are included including drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and snacks in your room. Don't think twice about booking this property. Thank you Nikos and Angela for a wonderful few days! I appreciated all your work!
Top-notch experience. Family run property. The property was beautiful with decor that fit the Old Town location. The hospitality was excellent. The Family and the staff were all very nice and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding. May be the best hotel experience I ever had.
Nikko and Angela were very hospitable and made us feel like family. They provided great recommendations and had suggestions for each day. They made our stay an unforgettable experience. We would strongly recommend this boutique hotel. The entire staff went over and above. Extremely accommodating to the guests.
An excellent couple of days here recently. The owners could not have been more helpful in showing us the places to visit and some very good places to eat as well. The Porta Rossa is convenient in the old city – we had a very comfortable room on the ground floor – proper teacups, books to read and an excellent shower! Charmingly furnished with an eclectic collection of items. Not to mention the open bar, and a guided introduction to some local spirits. Special mention of the breakfasts in the courtyard which are original and delicious. To be recommended.
Absolutely gorgeous hidden gem inside the old city. Nicholas, Angela and Paris extended the most gracious welcome to their extraordinary boutique hotel. Every possible need is not only met but anticipated. The ultimate in comfort and luxury. Frette linens. Limoge dishes. Delicious breakfast. Quiet comfortable elegance. No plans are needed for your visit. Nicholas will have a personalized itinerary ready for every day.
The « medieval » charm of the property, the exceptional quality of the service: the owners went above and beyond to help us plan our stay in Rhodes. We felt really welcome, almost as if we were invited to stay at some friends’ home. The owners put extraordinary efforts in serving/attending to their guests.
There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.
This is an extraordinary place. The owners go above and beyond to welcome their guests and help them plan their stay in Rhodes. The property is elegant and charming, with extreme attention to details. It is like staying at some friends’ home. Congratulations to the owners for running so exceptionally well their business.
Great place to stay. Beautiful redone small intimate hotel that will arrange your whole trip for you. Old city is a great destination and this hotel is the best The proprietors are the best. All you can drink 24/7 Great source of information !
Our stay at Kokkini Porta Rossa in the old city of Rhodes was exceptional. The personal attention we received was beyond compare. The rooms and hotel were filled with artistic touches and books, making it feel both elegant and welcoming. We were treated to a delicious assortment of unique Greek liquors, and each breakfast was thoughtfully tailored to our tastes. Every day, the staff recommended wonderful sights to visit and added them to a custom app—so we were never lost! An unforgettable experience from start to finish.
This was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Rhodes. It’s a small, elegant boutique hotel with many thoughtful touches throughout. We had a room with a private courtyard, which we enjoyed very much. The location was excellent. The place is run by a very friendly, knowledgeable couple, who made suggestions every day about sites, restaurants and activities we might enjoy. I hadn’t known about many of these, and was grateful for the recommendations. Breakfast was delicious. We really loved this place and highly recommend it.
Kokkini Porta Rossa is unique. It is within the walls of old Rhodes and is within a few minutes walking distance of all of the historical sites of Rhodes, including numerous restaurants and shops. Our suite was much more than we had expected, and decorated very tastefully matching the surroundings of historical Rhodes. Everything within is of a very high standard, and everything you may require is within the suite. Angela and Nikos, as well as all of their staff, are genuinely hospitable and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They have a great sense of humour. They will arrange trips, book restaurants, taxis, and give tips of how to make the most of your trip within the walls and outside the walls of old Rhodes. Their son - Paris - is there playing a grand piano situated in the reception area during the late afternoon/early evening, which is very relaxing. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.
A truly unique hotel. Lovingly restored and furnished, this is an immersive experience of living within the historic setting of Rhodes. Nikos and Angela have created friendly and relaxed oasis; it is like staying with family. Every need has been catered for with an inclusive, fully furnished bar, toiletries and comforts like snacks, robes and a comprehensive library of guide books. My wife has mobility problems and Niko was able to provide a walking aid, to use, as required. Angela and Giulia oversaw breakfasts that were delicious and a varied taste of Rhodes each day. Essential to visiting Rhodes is the App and tablet that Niko has created. Only the best value venues are detailed and are based upon the family’s experience and testing. The incorporated sat nav works when Google Maps gives up. Each day, Niko discusses and prepares an itinerary of venues which meet your interests, tastes and travel objectives. Evenings concludes with the best local restaurant recommendations and complimentary drinks with the gifted, jazz piano accompaniment of their son, Paris. A five star venue and a truly memorable holiday.
