Perfect place to stay if you are going to take in the Grand Canyon South Rim. Walking distance to the bus route. The staff were extremely friendly and informational.
Stay at Yavapai was good for the following reasons : - Being within the Grand Canyon means early entry to the views that can help you beat the crowd. - Sunrise view at Yavapai point is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the resort. - Coffee shop within resort opens by 7AM helping early risers. - The lightning around the resort is Red-colored thus reducing light pollution and allowing for an amazing night sky watching experience even at the parking lot of your room. This way you can feel safe sitting out and watching the sky late into the night without having to hunt secluded spots which can creep you out. - The Breakfast buffet was a great option to fill yourself well before heading out. The Tavern is open to meet your food needs even when the main restaurant is closed. So, food is taken care of. - Shuttles stops are accessible easily for those preferring not to take out their car. - Additionally there is a good general store located right across the Lobby area allowing you to pick up your grocery needs. - Overall good value, clean rooms and good service. NOTE: no microwave oven in the rooms. You can take your food to the Lobby and heat it there.
We had a pet friendly room and it exceeded our expectations! So big, so comfortable, so all amenities and the bathroom products are great! However, the food at the Yavapai lodge and tavern was so abysmal I mean so terrible! Plan ahead for the food places at Bright Angel instead! Or use the grocery store deli!
Clean, tranquil, and comfortable especially we traveled with our pup. Perfect time of the year to visit. No crowd. Easy to visit restaurants, gift shops.
Clean room. Very peaceful. Deer family roamed the area just outside. Take a flashlight as it is dark dark dark outside just to get to your car.
quite and good place to go. My wife and I have got a wonderful experience there in Grand Cayon and Yavapai Lodge. If we have chance, we will take my family there again
A basic 2 star hotel, that we absolutely loved! We were greeted and checked in by the lovely Grace who was so happy to help us. We had a second floor room which was accessed by a metal staircase on the outside of the building. The rooms are located in separate blocks away from the main building in the woods. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated but everything worked well. The main building housed reception, manned 24 hours, a restaurant, a tavern, a snack bar and a gift shop. Opened at various times. The food was basic but good heart fair which was just right after a day exploring the canyon. There was a fire pit outside and a fire inside. Great for sitting a chatting about the day. Across the parking lot was a general store with everything you good need including equipment hire. It reminded us of centre Parcs ( without the paid activities) combined with a youth hostel.
Our stay at Yavapai Lodge was truly exceptional. The location is unbeatable — within walking distance of one of the most iconic viewpoints for watching the sunrise and very close to the Visitor Center. The shuttle stop right at the entrance makes it extremely convenient to explore the park. At night, the clear, unpolluted sky offers breathtaking stargazing opportunities : a magical experience in itself. All the staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to assist with any questions or requests. The room was very well equipped, featuring tea and coffee-making facilities, an iron and ironing board, and even recycling options. The beds were extraordinarily comfortable, ensuring a great night’s rest after a day of exploring. As a delightful bonus, we were able to see wildlife wandering around the property — including deer and squirrels! The free parking is another great advantage. Without a doubt, Yavapai Lodge is a place I would wholeheartedly recommend and look forward to returning to in the future.
The room itself was modern enough, but the bathrooms really need to be updated and thoroughly cleaned. The shower had mold in it, had intense water pressure (which is ironic for the notices of saving water), and the trim was actively peeling off the wall. The bathroom layout doesn’t make sense and is the real need for an update. It’s one of those where the toilet and shower are in a separate closed off door area from the sink, which isn’t the end of the world, but the sink doesn’t have a door separating it from the rest of the room. So if you’re needing to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you get to wake up the rest of the room by turning on the light to see the kitchen sink unless you want to fumble around in the dark. The thermostat with the AC/heating unit didn’t behave correctly. The room was noticeably way too warm, and so we turned the thermostat to a known comfortable temperature and found that it was randomly sending out heat from the unit. The bed was comfortable and got the job done. If you are one of the unfortunate people who get put at the end of the hall like us, you get to enjoy being woken up at the crack of dawn by those entering and exiting the building. It doesn’t matter how quiet they are. There’s little to no noise insulation. We would not come back here. We only stayed two nights (for one full day), but we thought about leaving sooner even though we enjoyed the hike we did do on that day. There is little to no good food options in the area that’s worth the money, so please remember that if you care even a little about food being more than just sustenance. The buffet at the hotel is okay enough to get the job done but overpriced for what it is. The staff was nice at least.
We have stayed at both the Yavapai Lodge (motel type accommodations) and El Tovar (hotel type accommodations). Pro : El Tovar for the historic interest mainly. Con: Longer walks in and out and to and from room and parking. Pro: Yavapai Lodge for easier walks to and from room and parking for visiting other points and viewing. Con: No air conditioner. No wifi. We have also had meals at both locations. El Tovar for more choices on menu and service. Historic interest also, of course. Yavapai Lodge for quicker service at cafeteria.
Great location inside GCNP with easy access to grocery, restaurants, rim walks & main trails. Walk, drive, bike, shuttle, taxi...
The accomodation was 10min walk from reception. Without a car you’re in trouble. At night time there is zero lighting. I was walking into trees and tripping over rocks the path was invisible to my cabin. I had to go back to the road and look for a faintly visible white line on the road to lead me to the entrance of the cabin road. By now I was shivering with cold and running along the road to stay warm. I also ran out of charge on my phone so couldn’t use that as a torch and reception just told me it’s my problem go buy a charger. They wouldn’t just give me a little charge so I could have a light to get back to my room. Some businesses they just have zero concern and just want your money.
Just OK
We enjoyed staying at the Yavapai Lodge as it was centrally located to the shuttle bus stops, market/grocery store, and lodge for coffee, breakfast, grab & go, and great beers. Quick drive to Mather Point to watch sunrise or sunset/moonrise. Clean rooms with a comfortable bed. A family of mule deer walked past our window for an added treat.
Excellent location
Great spot to spend a night or two to explore the area. Comfortable, clean room with all the required amenities. Excellent dinning options available with great service and eating drinking at each. Really enjoyed our overnight stay.
Nice clean room. Conveniente to excellent shuttle system and easy walk to the rim.
Location was excellent
Very picturesque was the surroundings.
N/a
Very close to the South Rim
The bathroom should have been a bit cleaner. In the shower the soap/shampoo holder was dirty and scum buildup on the shower walls Otherwise the room was nicely clean an comfortable
A peaceful ocation within the National Park. Convenient for the shuttle bus and facilities at the lodge and general store.
In the National Park
We loved Yavapai Lodge and the Grand Canyon Would highly recommend! Convenient location and friendly staff. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation experience!
Inside park... little away from the crowds and the Rim...like 15 min walk! Perfect for being there without all the craziness!!
Very convenient to be inside the national park. Friendly staff at check in. Grocery store nearby.
Right in the park staff and our room was great ! Had a very nice stay and we were able to enjoy the park . Loved the linen so soft and nice. Beds were comfortable along with the pillows. Would recommend using the lodge for your visit.
The hotel is well appointed and clean and ideally situated in the National Park. The staff were friendly and helpful but the food and choice (especially for vegetarians) was very poor. Quality was disappointing and on one occasion we were served pork in an ostensibly vegetarian dish (which to be fair we were offered a refund for). There isn’t enough space to accommodate all those wishing to eat, although service was fast. Choice in the nearby supermarket was similarly disappointing.
The carpet was extremely filthy… Stained, and I was afraid to walk barefooted on it
Food options was nice. Driving distance to look out and bike rentals wasn’t far
Beautiful
The Grand Canyon is awe-inspiring. The park is great: many activites and informative. There is plenty to fill 3+ days.
Quiet and secluded feel while being within walking distance of shopping, dining and transportation. Loved our stay.
This is a great place to stay if you want to stay in the Grand Canyon National Park. The hotel was clean. Basic amenities, but honestly we only needed a comfortable bed and warm shower after a long day hiking and star gazing. The food options were good and easy. They will not let you check in until check in time unless you pay extra so be prepared to stand in a long line to check in. I didn’t find the hotel check in staff friendly but everyone else seems nice enough.
The national park is close by; easy to walk to the rim but not as easy to find.
The lodge is inside Grand Canyon park, and has 3 choices of dining and a bar. There are many areas where the actual rooms are. We were given a room with pull up parking. The room was clean, bed comfy, but these are older rooms and there was no vanity in the bathroom, only a wall mounted sink. Getting any where in the park is convenient from the lodge location, and the park shuttle stops there. There is also a grocery and deli within walking distance.
We stayed at the yava pia lodge last night because we took a trip over my 5 day weekend to go to see the Grand Canyon and to go to phoinex for my moms conference the things I liked are that they had a bathtub in our room witch had nice hot water and that the tv channels were good and the beds were comfortable there was no hot tub pool or breakfast but that’s not a deal breaker for this area because we were very close to the Grand Canyon We would stay here again when or if we come back to the area I give this place 4 stars
Upon check in the lady monitoring the kiosks was extremely rude. She was combative and in a bad mood. When checking into the rooms we were shocked with the quality of cleanliness and overall condition. Would not recommend this lodge to anyone.
Great lodging choice on South Rim of GC, near rim, near large market, good food at facility. Clean large rooms nice staff. Rooms available on time. Only negative was limited number of TV channels and intermittent reliability of TV and Streaming service that staff was not able to address - not why you go to GC but a bit annoying
Great property!
The room was okay but the toilet seat was broken. They fixed it. There was no easy chair in the room. No microwave. The price was high for what was offered.
Close to the Grand Canyon Park. Transportation was realiable. The room was clean.
Perfect place for spending time in the national park without the need to drive.
Super Clean updated accommodations inside Grand Canyon National Park! Great Experience!!!
Room had a musty smell was glad the windows oened
The room is dated but convenient to getting around the south rim.
The location was great. I did not like how the hallway to the rooms did not lock, and there was not an extra lock on the inside of the door. We asked for a rollaway bed twice and never received it, so we ended up getting one out of the hall for ourselves. Room was very outdated, but the staff was amazing!
Such a peaceful setting among the trees and convenient location to the market and Grand Canyon visitor center
Grand indeed.
It’s the GC. What’s not to like. Tv and remote are useless. Don’t waste your time. Go outside
Nice quiet room. The entire complex is great and well maintained. Walking distance to the Canyon Rim. Would definitely stay there again!
It is inside the Grand Canyon National park. It was close to a restaurant and General store. We were able to use the shuttles to Bright Angel and visitor info center and to South Kaibab trail head. Staff was helpful and the room was clean and comfy.
Really enjoyed our stay, bed is very comfortable ,nice lodge!
Good place to spend a night at the Grand Canyon. The room was clean. The staff was helpful. Mattress too soft and lumpy. Rug is old.
The lodge was in the perfect location. Easily accessible to the shuttle bus, dining options and store. Room was very quiet and comfortable.
Great location! Easy to take shuttle around the park. Lots of food choices close by. Easy to park
Being inside the park, makes it very convenient to walk around. There are dining options and the convenience store to buy take out. We loved the lodge. The resident astronomer was an asset, the Hopi house and store, the south rim, walkway, and bus
Beautiful, quiet, everything we needed on the property. Tavern food was delicious and generous.
The Yavipai was perfect for staying a few days in the Grand Canyon. The room was nicely updated.
Great location for access to the park.
So so. Gets a premium price only due to being in the park. Fairly basic. Our room did not have soap in the shower dispenser. How does that happen?
We stayed 3 nights and our experience was greate. They were able to accommodate our first night which I did not made a reservation, that was ! Great ! We end up staying 4 wonderful nights. Staff was great ! Rooms were nice easy parking and very convenient bus shuttles every 15 minutes we loved it !!!
Very nice
The lodge was perfect for our stay- main reason was for hiking, it was convenient to everything that we needed. The dining was great, have the option of the dining hall or the tavern;offered many different options. There was market that was close and had all the essential items we needed. The room was clean and comfy. Loved the location and proximity to the canyon. The area was gorgeous
Great location. Clean, comfortable rooms
Great location
We didn't actually stay at Yavapai. Our tickets to Antelope Canyon were cancelled and moved to the following day so we had to move things around. We asked if we could cancel 25 hours before check in. We were told to have the third party we booked through to call and request cancellation. After 15 minutes on hold, Expedia told us Yavapai told them no. How rude. Never again.
In the national Park loved the room
Fantastic location in the National Park. 5 mins walk to buses that take you to the rim, or 5 min drive to car parks. Rooms are motel style with parking outside your ‘cabin’ . Food in Tavern isn’t good value - tiny portions. Staff at reception were excellent - they gave us great advice for planing our stay. Would have loved to have stayed longer.
The room was clean and had updated furniture and a coffee machine. Perfectly located for visiting Mather Point to see sunset and sunrise as less than 5 minutes from the visitor centre access to the trail. A few minutes from the dining room, tavern and gift shop amenities.
It was a park room, so nothing fancy. We did have to go up one flight of stairs. Amenities of being in the park outweigh everything else. Recommend.
The lodge is located inside the national park gate
no place at all to hang towels or wash clothes.
Beautiful views, wonderful frequent shuttle service, staff very friendly and informative
Just perfect location .. shuttle buss staff brilliant would recommend
I was a little hesitant booking this and initially only booked it due to its convenience. The bldg. structues are old with the old motel vibe, however when we opened the door to the room we were very pleasantly surprised. Clean and updated. The bathrooms I dont beleive are updated other than flooring, paint and mirror, but it was still clean and functional. I would definitely book here again if we visit the Grand Canyon again.
Great location inside the Grand Canyon! Very easy to get on shuttle, buy food and souvenirs. There is also a post office and restaurants.
Centrally located and liked being close to general store. Easy parking and very quiet and peaceful. Definitely would stay here again.
great
It was wonderful to stay within the park. It was great to watch the sunrise over the canyon without a long drive added to the early morning. Rooms were very clean. Plenty of dining options in walking distance. Shuttles were very convenient. We stayed in Yavapai West at the end of Sept 2025
Good price for National Park
The park has been picturesque for times immemorial but the property is very satisfying
Clean great place to stay in grand csnyon
Great location for visiting Grand Canyon, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. Had a great stay.
Great place - would stay again
Information provided at check in on what to see and how to get around
Yavapai Lodge was the perfect place to stay inside Grand Canyon National Park! The location made it so easy to catch sunrise and sunset at the rim. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient dining options and a peaceful atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Grand Canyon!
Convenient. Clean. Excellent stay
Good location near to the restaurant and grocery shop. In darkness t was very difficult to find the room, because the numbers (intervals from -- to) are only shown on the steet corner, but not visible on the building. Huge room, hot water, good water pressure.
Quiet get away
We loved being so close to everything!
Yes the park was near by which was very nice since it was our first time at the park, everything was near by and easy to get around.. The room was clean and comfortable. The pillows had a old mildew smell and we could not get the Keurig to work, we bought coffee at the market and the lady employee was very rudely.. We had dinner at the restaurant and Trejo was very helpful and very polite…
A moderately priced room inside the Grand Canyon park. Easy to take the shuttle or go to the dining hall or general store. Like a lot of National parks, could use updating but keeps pice lower.
Mule deer were just feet from our door. We had the pleasure of witnessing a bull elk bugle for 5 minutes before going over a hill. We plan to come back. Lodge was great.
Tuvimos una agradable estancia aquí estaba limpio y acogedor podría mejorar, la comida podría mejorar pero si había opciones. Los alrededores muy hermosos y cerca.
The motel was close to the Grand Canyon and shuttle service
Was a very nice, quiet stay for us
The room itself is nothing special but the location was perfect. Walking distance to the rim. When we first got to our room there were two elk right out the window! Great welcome!
Check in was very easy at the lodge. We especially liked having the village across the street from the lodge. Made it easy to purchase food. Our room was clean and comfortable. What you would expect from an older building. However, it was adequate for our needs. The parking was so much better than at the other park lodges. There was always ample parking spaces. The shuttle stop was just a short walk from our building. Would recommend this lodge if you are looking for a quiet location with ample parking and convenience to the shuttle and village.
