Perfect location and very cozy.
Location, history, staff helpful
Bathrooms need an upgrade. Very noisy at night with the outdoor restaurant and at 6am noisy with restaurant cleanup with bottles etc
Location
Beware!!! My husband and I stayed at the hotel in August. We checked in and had to wait hours before our room was ready. The front desk was rude and non accommodating. Finally our room was ready, they put us in a whole different building next door which I had no idea they even had. When I booked my reservation I was under the assumption they had the one building with the nice rooms I saw online when booking. Well huh we checked in this separate building and the room had a dirty comb on the chair that was at a desk in the room. The room smelled of wet dog, it’s clearly a fog friendly room which my husband and I DID NOT have a dog. The room was so old and just put together terribly. Omg the bathroom was old and needs a whole refresh. The shower hardware is rusted and corroded and completely disgusting. They must clean the old dilapidated furniture with furniture polish and got some on the hardwood floors and made the floor EXTREMELY SLIPPERY! I almost fell a couple of times on the floor that was so slippery. My husband and I never complained, but upon checkout we asked to speak to the manager and the rude front desk staff said they weren’t available. How is there no manager onsite at 11am on a Wednesday 🤔 so my husband asked if the manager has a number that we can call and make aware to the manager of what a poor experience we had. She provided us with a direct line to the manager. For a full week my husband has been trying to reach management and leaving voicemails. 9 days later we have yet to hear back from management. The last message my husband left was we have been trying to reach you for over a week to discuss our experience at your hotel and no one has had the decency to call us back. We’ve been holding off leaving any type of review about our terrible experience at your hotel but now you have left us no choice. My wife will now leave a bad review on every outlet we can about our experience at your hotel.
The location is amazing you are literally in the middle of everything. Loved they put canned water in your room daily and tidied up without me having to ask. The use of bikes and beach gear is lovely.
The kleenex and the toilet paper were super thin, like irritate your nose thin. I went out and bought my own. There is no mini fridge to keep your drinks cold or leftovers, kinda annoying. There is zero insulation you will literally hear every door open, close, toilet flush, foot step, and conversation- if you are a light sleeper I wouldn’t advise staying. Also no room service if you are exhausted after a long day at the beach- you will have to go out and get food.
This was my first time to Nantuck and Jared Coffin House was centrally located and the fact you offered beach chairs, towels, breakfast and afternoon cookies was such a plus! thank you so much. the room was plenty big enough for the 2 of us and the beds were very comfortable
the shower could use a refresh, although the water pressure was excellent.
Everyone who worked their was beyond kind and genuine and friendly.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, chocolate on your pillows and refreshed towels when we got back!! Pick up service from ferry. Couldn’t be more pleased with location! Will definitely be back!
Other than being in an old building, I don’t see what sets this hotel apart. The seasonal staff are horrible, doorman played on his phone while I carried our bags up the stairs, front desk couldn’t care less about not having the booked rooms available. They stripped away all the class trying to achieve modern conveniences but the hotel doesn’t have those either. Window AC units, tiny beds, no lift, terrible water pressure etc. Either be new and modern or old and classy.
The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful! Would stay here again just to see them again. Great location! Walkable to ferry and all the shops and restaurants in the main town. We also enjoyed the free bike rentals offered by the hotel. We had a lovely room with a small bathroom, but we were very comfortable. No one says this hotel is haunted, but there were definitely lots of creeks and bumps in the night! So be prepared. Also, coffee ran out early each morning and there’s no coffee in the rooms, but it was no problem for us to walk to a local coffee shop to grab some.
Both the Breakfast & location were great.
Thin walls. You can hear a lot in the hallways
Continental breakfast was good. Staff was exceptional, helpful. Room was smaller than expected but good for 1 person
The location is great
The entire property inside needs an upgrade The furniture is drab uncomfortable and worn The rooms are stuffed with furniture dressers etc but not one comfortable chair to sit in Beds are too high You really need to get a designer in who can redo with simple comfortable update furniture. The shutters don’t close
Great location
Nothing
Conveniently located room was clean. Bed was amazing.

Breakfast was perfect. Location was perfect. The sitting room was beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful.
I booked a room with a twin bed and private bath. I would not book this room again. It was exceedingly small and the twin bed was against a wall and I kept hitting my arm. I left a day early even though I paid for three nights' stay because the room was just not comfortable.
Everything was excellent; because of the festival that weekend, could have used another coffee table for guests who sat on a couch with no table to place their dish or their cup. Also, one of our friends was gluten free, and there were no gluten free items to toast (most places keep some available in their freezer). Thank you. ps. Front desk, drivers, and luggage handlers were exceptionally kind and helpful!
Quaint and convenient
Nothing
Location was excellent/ very clean room, staff was friendly
The breakfast was very limited , just the very basics no eggs.
The facilities and location are superb. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The bikes could be a bit better as two we were given needed repairs. Breakfast was very nice and adequate. Overall a terifiic time. Near so many shops and restaurants.
Everything was perfect and we loved having the restaurant on site
Location, cleanness and staffs’ attitudes
The location was perfect! The breakfast was great!!! We had lunch at the restaurant, it was very good. The bed was comfortable, the room was great. We will be back next year. The only problem was when we collected our luggage which was being held for us until we left the island, my friend's sweater and my hoodie (which was given to me by my daughter) were missing. We didn't realize it until 15 minutes after we left. We went back to the hotel and they couldn't find either item.
The only problem was my friend's white sweater and my charcoal gray hoodie were no where to be found 15 minutes after we left the property.
Within walking distance to the ferry
Room was advertised as spacious, with a king size bed. The bed cramped the room not even an extra chair to sit and relax. One chair similar to a dining chair was provided. The walls were so thin you could hear the neighbors TV and conversations. The wi-fi did not work and when I enquirer about it, I was treated as an idiot by your front desk staff.
We had a wondeful stay and hope to get back soon.

EVERYTHING!!! The breakfast that is provided was continental and had such a variety of foods and drinks. The staff was exceptional and was so willing to make my stay wonderful. The location is fabulous, and the restaurant next door was excellent. The Coffin House was a sea Captains home. It has been kept in wonderful condition.

Location
Wet around the toilet
Location is great. Staff pleasant and helpful. Loved the history and decor.
Room was very hot with no way to regulate. No way to block windows for privacy. Just one chair, so one person had to sit on the bed. Third floor with no elevator and steep stairs.
Breakfast was very ordinary. Toilet was difficult get up from as it is very low.
Need a short rail for the stairs as it difficult to drag bags up the stairs without one
It is very close to the ferry and downtown Our room was roomy with waters and a fridge. There is a cute reading area upstairs with an extra water closet.
The breakfast was lacking. Would have liked eggs, granola or other pastries not just yogurt, bagels and cereal. We did get a ride from the ferry by the White Elephant van driver which was nice since my friend was wearing a boot on her hurt foot.
The breakfast was very nice.
Bathroom very dated. Staff didn't go out of their way to be helpful.
Great location and nice staff. Yummy breakfast goodies in the morning and a great bar / restaurant hidden down the back stairs. You step out into history - the preservation of the town and the hotel are second to none and the people who live here are the real deal. I would encourage everyone to make the trip - It's not easy to get here but well worth it. Great restaurants and shopping, not a franchise in site!
Great location. Excellent and friendly staff recalled my name every time I went to the front desk. Shuttled us to dinner which was quite nice. We’ll be back…
We liked everything about it and its charm
Extremely old and dirty. Not worth the money.
Lack of clearness and over-priced.
It was close to town great stay enjoyable
Lovely breakfast
Exception! Service, property aesthetics, location, history,
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The staff was great, funny, and professional
Steep stairs
Tiny tiny room. Could barely get around it. For $500 a night, I’d expect at least some leg room on the toilet, or walking around the bed
Beautiful place, excellent service, nice area to walk around. Good continental breakfast. Enjoyed our bike ride with hotel provided bikes.
Ok
Fantastic stay in the heart of Nantucket. Cozy Inn in a perfect location. Delicious continental breakfast, convenient shuttle service to local restaurants and complimentary bike rentals. We will be back as our stay was ideal. The staff was very very helpful
Lovely stay. Staff was very friendly and went above and beyond. Hotel is old but well maintained. Very close to shops and restaurants in town. Continental breakfast was a nice touch! Rooms are small, and walls not sound proof - those are my only complaints. Room was still very comfortable and clean. Overall I recommend this place, maybe bring some ear plugs.
Everything was great.
Historical, charming, and comfortable property /rooms; ideally located lodging with very friendly staff
Since this was a solo getaway...I had one of the smaller rooms with a twin bed (still had my own bathroom) and I couldn't have been happier. Great staff and amenities (beach chairs and towels at the front desk!...and continental breakfast each day! And the location can not be beat! Right in downtown and fast walking access to everything as well as all the bus routes.
Comfortable bed, clean bathroom with a hot shower. Convenient to restaurants and stores and the waterfront.
The mattress, bedding and pillows were perfection.
Needed more comfortable area for the breakfast.
Staff was terrific. Property, esp rooms need some updating. Great part of town w access to everything.
Very clean and very well locayed
My husband and I chose the Jared Coffin House for our 30th wedding anniversary and could not be happier with that decision. Our great experience started a couple of weeks before our arrival when the concierge, Antonique, contacted us asking if we had any questions or if we needed a car to pick us up upon arrival. She helped with recommendations for places to eat, made reservations after we looked into the restaurants she recommended, and had a car waiting for us when we got off the ferry! Our driver was very kind. Check in was quick. Our bags were brought to our room. We stayed in the Anna Gardener suite. It was beautiful! It smelled fresh and clean as soon as we walked in. We were so surprised by a bottle of wine and a lovely card wishing us a happy anniversary! The room was well appointed and even had a record player with a great selection of vinyls to listen to. The bed was very comfortable. We took full advantage of the beach chairs and beach umbrella during our stay. We were going to use the bikes but after watching people ride on the cobblestone streets we thought better of it!! Nantucket is very walkable but when our restaurants were farther out Antonique secured us a ride to and from. For breakfast we grabbed coffee and pastries and enjoyed them as we walked around town in the morning. The area for breakfast is small but not a problem, as we prefer to be outside. Everyone who works there went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The location could not be better. We will definitely be back.
Perfect location, convenient to everything! Breakfast was on point. Complementary bikes were easy to use and
Absolutely wonderful staff. Very friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel, basic room ( not large but clean )
Perfect location. Rooms are beautiful, staff is courteous and professional. Loved our stay and will stay again.
Stairs however staff always took care of our luggage thankfully!
Twin bed room. Was tiny. Bathroom and toilet cramped. Window unit air conditioning made it so I had to choose between closing the blinds (and restricting airflow) or keeping blinds partly open (and letting bright light in). Great location. Friendly staff.
We had so much fun at the Jared Coffin House over Labor Day weekend! We didn’t have a car, so it was wonderful to be so centrally located. The inn was beautifully appointed, comfortable, and the staff was very accommodating. Also, we really enjoyed the ACK Tap Room and lots of local restaurants. Highly recommend!
Loved the historic aspect of this hotel. Built in 1845 by a sea captain for his home and family, you feel like you are part of history as a guest. The hotel staff was so responsive to our needs as 'veteran' travelers. We can't say enough about them. The hotel in located conveniently in the downtown and right down the street from the Whaling Museum. It is a super hotel to stay in on the beautiful island of Nantucket.
A WONDERFUL experience. The place was fabulous. Better than expected. Staff were amazing. Sania especially who went above and beyond to assist, provide information & ensure all our needs were met.
Nothing, it’s perfect!
Restaurant noise outside room. Basically sounded like you were in the kitchen from 11-3 and from 5:00 - 11:00. Banging and scraping food off plates. Dish collection right outside 1st floor room window. I never write a bad review, except this one. Just the chance of getting this or nearby rooms will stop me coming here.
rooms are very comfortable
Loved our stay so much. Perfect central location and very friendly staff. Spacious renovated room, great amenities like nice toiletries and replenished cans of water. Would love to come back!
The breakfast had some plain yogurt and I'm watching my sugar. Most of the rest was carbs. Coffee was good. The location and atmosphere were 11, not 10. Staff was WONDERFUL. Loved the bikes.
I liked everything about the hotel. I just wish it had been a bit more affordable.
This is an old property that has been remodeled. I booked a room for a single person which was awful. The HVAC was so loud that I couldn’t sleep all night. Several light switches didn’t work. Space was minimal, as well as bath, which I didn’t care much. I told reception the next morning and they immediately switched the room for another with same space but has been updated, with less noisy HVAC, fresh painting and bigger bath. Staff was very cordial, but I was upset because both rooms were available at my arrival and they gave me one which is clearly not acceptable to use. They KNOW that, proof is that they changed me immediately for a room across the hall. Please do not book if they give you room 409.
Historical Hine, great staff, lovely breakfast great shopping, awesome harbor
Location and history
We liked the property and no dislikes
Great location staff was friendly all the restaurants and shops are walkable
Very enjoyable property & service - convenient to everything
Great staff
Our third visit visit to the Jared Coffin House and it was as wonderful as always!
Great stay, lovely hotel and staff! Highly recommended!
It’s a beautifully maintained, historic property over 150 years old. Located within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping choices. The free continental breakfast was nice, with nice food options. My room was very small. King size body pillows on a twin bed were a bit difficult though deal with. Bathroom was very tiny as well. But for a 1 night stay it was fine.
Our recent stay at the Jared Coffin House was nothing short of delightful. The authenticity of the place was evident in every detail, combined with immaculate cleanliness that made us feel immediately at home. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and warm, ensuring that all our needs were met and enhancing our overall experience. The room we stayed in was exceptional, filled with charming character that perfectly reflected the time period, making our stay feel unique and special. The location couldn’t have been better, situated conveniently for shopping, dining, and sightseeing—allowing us to explore the local attractions with ease. We couldn't have asked for a better getaway to celebrate our anniversary, and we can’t wait to return for more cherished memories in the future! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a genuine and comfortable experience.
Absolutely wonderful here at the Jared Coffin House! Such a gracious and warm staff! So sensitive to detail and considerate, they make you feel so welcome from the onset. We love the rooms—the lobby and sitting rooms. Just perfect.
Wonderful staff. So polite and helpful.
For such historical part of first mantion On the island" just okay of a visit. Top Dollar for???
The accommodations were nice, but old. It's wonderful to get that colonial experience, but we prefer the updated 2020 something version of that, which is not here. That's ok, great for others, just not us. Also, for those driving this place is great with ample parking. One thing that again- for us- missed the mark is the front desk and staff are not overly friendly or trained in high end customer service. If you asked a question or asked for something, they responded, but they didn't offer any information if not asked. From the time we checked in, where you would expect that they would tell you about the accommodations, the services like free continental breakfast, beach chairs, bicycles, etc, all they could tell us was that our room was not ready and their obligation is to have it ready by 3pm, that was it. Again, we expect more of a friendly greeting, all the amenities that are available to us, and what suggestions they may have for things to do while we waited. We have been to Nantucket before, so we were fine, but to us this we expect way more. We stayed just down the street last year at a much friendlier, much more updated boutique hotel and favored that quite a bit more. This was just 'OK'.
Fair property yet old and in need of paint, floor polish, and quality feeling
It is a very old property. Great location
