Breakfast was fine on Saturday with a good choice all freshly cooked hot food as well as cereal and continental alternatives. Sunday was continental or cooked buffet. No alternatives to the 'full english'. Front of house staff were excellent with one exception. The restaurant dinner was plentiful, tasty and reasonably priced. Restaurant and bar taff were attentive, efficient and cheerful.

On arrival the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied, the shower glass was all water marks, the mirror on the dressing table looked as if it had been cleaned with a floor cloth, the bed sheet was a 'top sheet' that was a foot too small for the mattress with the gap covered by pillows. There was no shower gel in the shower. No Tea bags either, All of these were reported to reception where the young lady made no notes but stated they would be rectified. Nothing changed apart from the bathroom bin was emptied. Mistakes happen but not to be corrected was poor.

Evening meal menu was limited and the meals were just above average.

Lovely Hotel, staff were brilliant and very friendly. Ideally located for a visit to Bishop Auckland if you want to visit the exceptional event of Kynren.

Only downside of staying in this Hotel and vicinity is that there are no restaurants open on a Sunday after 2pm for meals of which we were not informed in advance. However we found Chang Thai Restauant in Bishop Auckland about 2 miles away close to the Palace.

The room was a good size, spotlessly clean and with a comfortable bed. The sound-proofing was excellent and we liked the fact that our room was away from the main building, in a small courtyard. There was ample free parking close to reception and to our room. We enjoyed breakfast which was a continental buffet and a choice of cooked options. The staff we interacted with at the reception desk and at breakfast were all very friendly and professional. The hotel was really handy for an overnight stay after a full day at nearby Kynren, and a short drive away from the pretty town of Bishop Aukland.

Whilst very comfortable, the bed seemed on the small side. The pull-down blinds did not block out the early morning sunlight. Additional curtains would both elevate the aesthetics of the room and reduce the light coming through in the morning, especially in summer. We like to have an evening walk, but there wasn't much nearby.

Only stayed one night but the room was excellent. Good size and very quiet. The breakfast was freshly cooked and one of the best I've had ina hotel Have to mention Sasha very friendly and efficient.

This was my 4th or 5th stay. Its always consistently good value, comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Wifi is reliable. I didn't eat dinner or breakfast this trip but in the past its always been fresh, tasty and good value and big portions.

Not being woken at 5.0m by the fire alarm. Caused by a moth upsetting the works; odd that the main building alarm is connected to the individual buildings. I gather the alarm has gone off frequently. We were not warned there was no food on Sunday evenings. We had no car and were stranded and hungry. No taxis.

Staff attentive. Place was professionally run. Location was almost ideal for our purposes.

We had two criticisms 1) The smoke alarm flashed every few second all night. Could it not be inhibited - or if not, flash at a much lower frequency. 2) Roller blinds at the window offer no privacy. You need to install slatted blinds (vertical or horizontal).

Room was very warm, no air con, no fan. There was a hidden £30! charge for a dog which is not mentioned at all on booking or their own website. Breakfast does not come with the room that’s extra. I thought for £121 per night for one person for just a room was a lot then to ask for £30 extra for a dog to come to my room was incredible I’ve always expected an extra charge for a dog but never has it been £30 for a room that cost £121. The window in my room was broken.

Rooms were very clean. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order.

The room we were in faced the very busy main road. As the weather was warm we had to sleep with the window open and the noise meant that we didn’t get much sleep.

No aircon and no fans in the room. In a heatwave that's just not good enough. And the breakfast was exceptionally disappointing. Took ages to come and was pretty much inedible when it did. I was asked how it was, I told them...I got a 'sorry about that' Er, how about 'here's the £13.50 we just took off you...'

We ordered soup at 6.15ish it took 40 mins for the young lady to tell us the soup had changed from tomato to parsnip which we declined but ordered other “quick “ food as we were going out it took a further 40 minutes for it to arrive ! Bearing in mind there was only about 8 other people there and only 4+ourselves ordered food Breakfast excellent young lady excellent very professional

Friendly welcome and very nice staff. Large room, which was very clean. Lots of parking.

Slightly disappointed that such a large room had very little furniture. Comfortable chairs and a table would have made it perfect.

Ideal location for the work I was doing. Comfortable room. A desk with a decent light. Emma(?) on reception helpfully printed a document out for me. Really enjoyed my evening meal (gammon) and a delicious, summery Eton Mess

Fabulous hotel.....individual interior design and furnishings was very impressive. Food (evening meal and breakfast) was excellent and good value. Great friendly, helpful staff!

Situated on a very busy road. Difficult to escape the traffic noise. Not all options available in the bar (staff unable to make cocktails despite being on the menu!).

It was close to where I was working. The staff were friendly, helpful and apologetic regarding the shortcomings.

Extremely basic menu, with nothing that wasn't just marginally upgraded fast food. A note on the menu telling me that Sunday lunch was served till 4pm, didn't really get over the fact that they don't serve food on Sunday evening. I had to drive to find food, thankfully I was able to do so as I had not had s drink. The shower base leaked evert time. The hand hand soap and shampoo dispensers were empty when I arrived and remained so until i left a note asking for them to be filled on the second day, at which point the hand soap was replenished but not the shampoo. The bedside lamp obviously has a loose connection as it flickers whentouched.. Unfortunately I was working over the whole 3 days so didn't have time to convey my thoughts to the management.

Does exactly what it says on the tin.....clean, tidy, everything you need. Bed a little hard for me but that is entirely personal. Great shower. Lovely breakfast freshly cooked with lots of continental selection.

The room was spacious and clean, even though it was only a single. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect for my stay.

My room was on the ground floor with a view out onto the courtyard. There were only roller blinds for privacy, which meant the room was either dark when blinds were down in daytime or people could see into the room if the blinds were up. A very minor point though!

This hotel is about a mile out of town, on a fairly busy road, but we didn't hear any noise from it. We had a ground floor room in the court yard, it was clean and comfortable. Nice evening meal, good breakfast. It's a good base from which to explore the town.

Maybe have some information on local tourist spots in the room? The hotel is part of project Bishop Auckland, it would have been nice to read more on that.

Dinner menu in room and on website sounded looked varied and interesting. In practice, our dinner in the evening was extremely disappointing. The menu had been changed to 4 limited choices- all very basic. The two we had were tasteless and poorly cooked.
