Reviewed Sep 16, 2026Comfortable and convenient for a two-night stay. Large room with tea, coffee, milk in fridge. Super attentive and patient staff. Wonderful view from balcony. Being not in the city center, it was great that a varied dinner was offered. Interesting photos as decor in main areas.
A little old (or “retro” to put it positively) e.g., shower-bath combined, carpets in main areas showing understandable wear and tear, general style.

Reviewed Aug 6, 2026We were upgraded to a bigger room with a kitchen, as the restaurant was closed and that was the reason that we had booked this accommodation. We had nowhere to prepare food in the room that we had booked, so Raywyn moved us to a room with full cooking facilities, where we could prepare our own food.
The walk-in shower had a problem with water splashing everywhere all over the floor outside of the shower cubicle.

Spa pool wasn't working at all which was the main reason we booked here, as our kids and ourselves really wanted to have a nice relaxing night away and have a dip in a spa. Also wasn't happy that we were asked to pay to swim if it was working. Should be included in price of rooms etc.

The rudeness on entering the hotel of the manager employing I wasn't welcome for some unknown reason- I'd been there before for work. No access to the spa which has been 'broken 'since covid-19 a disgrace.old furniture in rooms.

Reviewed Jun 20, 2026We were staying in the suburb of Onerahi, for a family holiday. Booked into Flames Hotel, we'll maintained 70s hotel, nice queit locality, nice outlook . Good sized room and l comfortable . Pleasant staff lovely dining room breakfast available from 7.30am until 2pm.
The shower is located over bath. Didn't concern us. Good water pressure.

i paid more money because there was a pool and my sister really wanted a swim. the woman in reception made us feel really bad as we had travelled up north to famous fish and chip restaurant and stop at a couple of places for photos so we were late arriving at hotel. she was complaining about us using the pool around 10 pm we were having a pool party just a quiet swim. we just didn’t appreciate her attitude. the instructions to the pool was not marked good and getting into the pool there was no good instructions how to open the gate. better reception manners please you don’t know what your guest have gone through. we had come from Canada for our mums funeral and catching a day with our brother sightseeing before we left back to Canada

Stairwells a bit musty. Pool not heated so bracing, even in March. Tavern in building next door - but noise ok with windows closed and it shut down at a reasonable time. Internal signage very dated - could be easily refreshed.

The floors upstairs were a little noisey (I was here for work and doing odd shifts so needed to get sleep when I could) but the beds and pillows were so comfortable that the noise disappeared once I tucked myself in.
