Friendly staff Superb breakfast buffet Clean rooms Complimentary golf was a nice touch Local area had beautiful scenery
Couldn't fault anything
Great location and the facilities and food were excellent
Very good and powerful shower but because it is in a bath the water goes all over the floor and is impossible to prevent
Convenient for my travel
Floor staff need training. Got a menu 40 minutes came to take order even though it was’nt busy a lot of talking going on but serving not so good. Ordered a second bottle of wine the girl was quick to put it on the bill but no bottle arrived. Asked another server who brought the wine but obviously didn’t check so we were charged for A 3rd bottle …,
Everything was great

Pleasant staff, good location, nice atmosphere. Parking was easy.
The hygiene standards need a complete overhaul, the hotel was dirty in various aspects. On arrival the duvet was stained with yellow marks and had multiple black hairs. They were changed promptly but the fleece decorative bedspread remained filthy like it had never been cleaned so I just took it off. The room carpet floor was stained and dusty however the bathroom was very clean. Twice we were served dirty glasses in the bar. The carpet floor of the bar was covered in a large amount of food which remained there the whole evening both nights we were there. The tables and chairs also had crumbs. The floor of the pool changing rooms was very dirty with some rusty fixtures and some crumbling tiles around the pool. The bath towels were tiny and there was a suggestion to reuse them but there was only one hook to hang all the towels so they were still wet the next day. The hotel could do with renovation and an increase in cleaning standards.
Great staff .Very friendly and helpful. Loved the pool. Rooms very comfortable
The breakfast lacked imagination . I was surprised it was so poor. The offerings were melon and prunes , cereal from the supermarket such as Alpen and coco, pops . Terrible bread . Terrible coffee. We eat dinner in the bar the three nights we stayed. It was all very good except for,the hamburgers which were like hard cardboard!
Great location
Breakfast and dinner excellent
Nothing
Stayed here for two nights staff where very friendly and helpful rooms where clean and the buffet breakfast was delicious and well stocked definitely would recommend the locals where so friendly and inviting definitely one of my favourite places in Ireland.
The rooms were a little outdated but for the price nothing to complain about easy made up for it with the rest of the facilities.
Staff were great, from reception to bat to restaurant. Bright attentive and upbeat. Food was good, Guinness was consistently good
Internet connectivity was poor in the room.
Two comfy beds in the room, clean toilet, great view (if you are willing to pay extra!!)
No air conditiong, slow serviice at the bar (understaffed)
The Hotel was fantastic, the staff were friendly and professional, the food was great. Located on the beach and nxt to a golf course. We took a lovely walk in to Buncrana town along lough Swilly. Stunning.
I can't fault the place.
Great atmosphere

Breakfast was exceptional staff were freindly and very helpful location was perfect for wild Ireland and halfway Karting 2 things that is a must to visit in this part of Ireland couldn't rate all highly enough
Nothing
Extremely clean, food was excellent. I love how the checkout was at 12 and breakfast was served until 11, so you weren’t rushed and could relax. Family room was modern, spacious and had air conditioning, which was great as it was a very clammy night.
I could fault the place
Good location with nice views, good food , busy & full of characters
Nothing
Very nice stay great staff and lovely food and drink.
The bath was a little small
Schönes Gebäude
Das Zimmer war viel zu heiss, die Fenster gingen gegen die Hauptstrasse, und der kleine laute Ventilator hat auch mehr Lärm gemacht als gekühlt. Für 180€ erwartet man mehr!
Location facilities were both good staff were excellent - responded immediately to issues and took time to chat
Bed was not that comfortable but everything else was good
Location, overlooking the golf course, and to the left, there was a beautiful beach and to the right, u could watch the ferry departing from the port, very friendly staff, lovely hotel and food, beds were very cosy and comfortable, great leisure club and safe parking.

There was no EV charging facilities
That the hotel had a spa, pool and gym
Pool was to deep for child and kids pool was for toddlers
Near beach
Gym needs updating
Good location
All good
The room was modern and clean , the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was delicious.
There was nothing to dislike.
Room, staff and leisure centre all excellent
Main bar was not open and a bar down the corridor at the front of the hotel was in use. Therefore there were no views
Lovely hotel, very comfortable and family room was just that! Fit for a family. Roomy, comfortable and clean. Perfect!
Never had been there before so was unsure of the restaurants and where to go, asked to book in for dinner but nobody explained at reception that there were 2 options. Bar grub or fancy restaurant. We got fany restaurant but would've liked more casual dining.
We stayed in the Inishowen Gateway in early August for the first time. The reception was very nice open welcoming space. Th staff were extremely helpful and friendly and it was all very efficient. The room was clean and comfortable overlooking Buncranagh golf Course and the sea, lovely views and very quiet and peaceful. The leisure centre was excellent and much bigger than I expected. We chose to eat in the bar and on reflection the dining room would have been much better. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly, but it was a bit chaotic. The kitchen seemed a distance away and staff arrived the bar with trays of food and seemed to have no idea who it was for. They went from table to table asking what people ordered. We ordered the turkey and ham which was just ok. It was served with roast potatoes, but it seemed the potatoes were only in the oven for 30 seconds, greasy and not crispy at all, just white greasy potatoes. not good for a professional kitchen. Despite plenty of staff it was difficult to get their attention, I asked for our bill 3 times and eventually went up to the bar to get it. Breakfast was served in the dining room and it was excellent. Overall, it is a nice hotel and staff are super friendly and good facilities. I would go back.
Great location. Lovely clean and spacious room. Friendly staff and good food. Would recommend to others and stay again.
The rooms were clean and the bathroom was on the basic side but functional.
The breakfast was mediocre for 15E
My wife is slightly incapacitated, reception had originally booked us into a first floor room, upon seeing my wife he changed it to a ground floor room with appropiate fittings. We had not asked for the change.
average. better last time we stayed Breakfast room that was up stairs was better location
Scenery of area nice hotel
No jacuzzi as advertised when booking
Friendly staff especially in the bar
Good shower and comfortable bed
Great wedding venue
Amazing stay. Room so clean and comfy with everything we needed. Pool perfect staff so friendly and helpful
We had booked a sea view and walk in shower, got a bonus with the air conditioning, room service was excellent, room being serviced while we were at breakfast
The corridor noise unsupervised children, gangs not one off incidents running through corridors and public areas, congregating, throwing bottles, lying on floor ways, shouting, using phones for 7 to 8 hours from 6 pm to midnight and well beyond makes this a must avoid hotel. The noise starts again as they bang doors going in and out of rooms half the night and then early from 6 as they return to other rooms. This was a complete waste of money, a holiday from hell. The night and hotel staff who were on duty Wednesday night were amazing trying to deal with the significant issues which had actually lasted several days. Not a one off!!! Management should advise all guests this is a hotel unsuitable for guests who require sleep or want to feel safe on corridors.
The hotel itself was lovely, food was beautiful and staff were very helpful. It was central from travelling back and forth to my daughter and son's matches as they were taking part in the Foyle Cup.
No fridge in the room
The hotel is very welcoming and we had a lovely big room overlooking the golf course. The food and service were great. It is very good value for money especially when you consider the complimentary golf. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is in a fantastic location. Room was large and spotless. Staff were all friendly. The swimming pool is large. Towels are supplied but you do have to pay €3 each for a swimming cap. The bar was closed during our stay which was a little disappointing as we would have like to watch the World Cup there rather than in the lounge where other patrons were having food. The only reason for a four star review was the lack of Gluten Free options at breakfast. I’ve been to other hotels with much better options There is a Gluten Free breakfast table with pre wrapped white bread, an GF toaster and a dish of cornflakes. No GF scones, pastries, croissants, porridge or other cereals. You can ask for GF sausage. At dinner time some of the options can be made GF. Both nights I had the prawn salad which is normally served with wheaten bread but there was no alternative offered. Both nights I also had the chicken with pepper sauce. All the sauces are GF. There is a choice of two GF deserts. Panna Cotta and a chocolate brownie. On the whole it was an enjoyable stay but improvement is needed regarding Gluten Free.
Room and location was lovely. Great view of the golf course and Lough Swilly. Easy walk to beach which was beautiful as well. Breakfast was fine, lunch and dinner at the bar were both quite tasty. We were there during a heat wave, bar had AC, gym had AC, room did not. They did provide fans, but it was still 27-28 deg C in the room unfortunately. Wish they had more outdoor seating to enjoy the weather, but also appears that we had amazingly beautiful and possibly atypical weather. Gym was serviceable but dated. All in all my family had a great time and my boys loved playing golf.
Nice rooms
All good
Loads of parking, very friendly staff , excellent breakfast and food in restaurant also very good, very nice swimming pool and very clean
The hotel was wonderful in a lovely part of Ireland. Everything was perfect for us in the hotel. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were great especially the super powerful shower. Loved it.
Great stay
This review is primarily about the above restaurant within the Inishowen Gateway and not the overall hotel which we enjoyed. Can someone from the hotel explain to me why the lovely Swilly Bar no longer opens Mon-Fri. With its great welcoming atmosphere, views across the golf course and the water it was a pleasure to eat in and enjoy a drink. I was shocked on Monday evening past when we came to have something to eat that we had to go to the Swilly Restaurant beside the main breakfast/dining room. It is in essence a corridor with tables and a bar. If you are lucky (?) to get a window seat you will have a lovely view of the carpark and the main road. My partner wasn't as lucky, his view was of the outside wall. Even those dining in the main restaurant after their meal Mon-Fri and wanting to enjoy a drink will have to use this soulless place as well. Because of this I would no longer book a stay Mon-Fri as sitting in this soulless restaurant would get me down. I spoke to a couple of staff when leaving this restaurant and they said they didn't like it either. Inishowen Gateway do the right thing and open the Swilly Bar 7 days a week it would make sense.
Nice room, comfortable bed. Great pool and gym facility. Wonderful staff and fantastic breakfast in the dining room with fabulous views.
No fridge in room.
lovely hotel with exceptional staff, and the food is outstanding, rated 10/10. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay and will definitely return. Special shout out to Oisin and Jamie at the bar who where very helpful with sterilising baby bottles as we had a 4 month old baby with us,
the coffee
the room was on the ground overlooking the carpark offering no privacy. the bathroom was an elderly disable person
The location, large room and swimming pool
Currently staying here on a 2 ngt break ate in hotel 1st night. Rooms a bit dated but very clean. The food was lovely. The staff were very nice. We had spa treatments booked. My treatments were with Elaine and she was fantastic very professional, friendly and attentive. Give us good information about the area. Would definitely cone back.
Really enjoyed our stay. Group of 9 people. Excellent food and staff

The hotel is located overlooking the beach and golf course. It is spotlessly clean throughout. The swimming pool was lovely with steam room and sauna facilities. Staff were friendly and polite. Large car park. Also right next to the car ferry terminal for the short trip over to Rathmullen.
Visited as family of 4 for 3 nights from 28th June to 1st July., Very nice stay. Food was very good. Room was spacious and very clean. Self service breakfast which I prefer. Nice bars and good service. Pool is excellent. 1.4 meters depth throughout with another small poll for kids. Enjoyed sauna and steam room. Thought decor was very nice. Landscape paintings on many of the walls.
Fabulous hotel great location close to main town beside sandy beach Very clean and spacious room great breakfast staff very friendly food in restaurant was excellent and well priced lovely swimming pool for guests use
Great location, very clean and comfortable. Lovely food. Staff friendly and found space for 2 bikes indoors.
Location
Our room window looked straight at a wall which was less than a metre away, which was disappointing. To make matters worse, on the one day the sun was shining during our stay, there was nowhere to sit outside because of construction work. We had not been informed about the construction in advance, and had we known, we may have chosen alternative accommodation.
No Aircon in the room and staff said there was nothing they could do and gave us a fan. Was a very hot night. TV would not connect to WiFi of hotel and we didn't have great signal ourselves to use our own hotspots as they suggested.
Golf course and spa
We weren’t warned that building work was ongoing
We have stayed at the Inishowen numerous times before but this time was midweek & the first time I used the Seagrass Wellbeing Centre - it certainly won't be the last! Alison is a magician! My husband enjoyed the pool, sauna & steam room but it's a shame the jacuzzi is no longer there, it was the best thing for me. We arrived too early on the first day to check in & our room wasn't ready, so we went & had lunch in the bar. It was very tasty (they basically changed ingredients to make a dish to my liking; I was so grateful) the woman serving was so friendly & easygoing. The following night after a day of exercise, walking & shopping, we ate in the restaurant. Whilst my husband's fish was delicious & my beef was outstanding, the coldish/lumpy spuds felt like they'd been sitting a while & the roasties were dried up/rubbery. Everything else was perfect, & again, they brought me fresh fruit for dessert which wasn't on the menu, they went above & beyond! The hotel has friendly reception staff, the bar man was mannerly and polite and we will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our stay at the Gateway - it was just one night for a special birthday celebration. The hotel were aware of the birthday celebration but there was nothing in the room or on greeting to reflect this, which was disappointing, we had deluxe rooms which were spacious, clean and with a lovely view and comfy beds. I was surprised that the bathroom had separate hot and cold taps and not a mixer - but maybe that’s just me! Breakfast on a weekend is served til 11am which is great for a more relaxing start to the day, and the food was delicious and plentiful. All the staff I encountered were polite and friendly. We also had the carvery Sunday lunch which was delicious and huge portions!
Great hotel, nice large rooms with views over the Lough Swiley. Staff is friendly, good rates and free parking.
