I get regular respite and we have stayed all over buncranna and by far this has been the nicest place most loveliest helpful staff,and the food was the best we've had yet,and its the best sleep iv had yet I really enjoyed our stay here

The property was in a good location - a short stroll to the waterfront and a short stroll to the town centre. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food was decent.

We requested a quiet room as we had a 7 1/2 hour drive to get there and had an equally long drive the next day, this however was not what we got. We got a very small room right over the bar where very loud music and loud talking went on until pretty late. We were a bit dissatisfied with this as we didn’t get to sleep until very late and we had to face another long day afterwards.

Beautiful clean and comfortable room. Staff were great, helpful and kind. Food was superb, im sorry we chose to eat out the 2nd night as the food was better in the hotel. It was a warm night and the windows and the windows in the room could only open to a small degree.

The staff were very friendly and attentive.

The vegan option breakfast was quite poor. For some reason a pepper, mushroom and onion greasy stirfry made up the majority of it, with a tomato and small portion of beans. I asked for a hash brown which was vegan and was brought but would have preferred if that was included in the breakfast and the peppers and onions were not. The addition of a vegan sausage would have been appreciated considering I emailed prior to my stay and mentioned my request for a vegan breakfast at check in.

The location of the hotel was good, with a good size car park near by.

The service in the bar was very poor. I had to ask a member of staff to take our order. We were not asked if everything was ok during our meal. I felt I had to go looking for staff when I wanted something. The staff were young and some seemed not well trained.

Breakfast needs a complete overhaul, people like a better layout of cereal fruit and a pot of tea . They had two push flasks.The food was well presented and cooked perfect.

The ensuite was quite cramped but I'm on the pudgy side so can't fault the hotel... I'm a bit more pudgyier after eating all the lovely food too🫣

I went into my stay with meh expectations after reading some of the reviews, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. From the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed by a warm sense of coziness, cleanliness and genuine hospitality. The hotel is incredibly charming, with a lovely touch of nostalgia that makes it feel special rather than outdated. My room was spacious, super clean and had the most comfortable bed I experienced during my entire trip to Ireland. The staff were kind and welcoming, with a special shout out to the woman at the front desk and the fellow who stayed late at the bar. I really hope I’ll have the chance to return one day to lovely Buncrana and the delightful Lake of Shadows Hotel.

Breakfast was very enjoyable and accommodated my gluten free request. There was a fabulous selection of food, either continental or cooked. The room was a comfortable size with tea facilities. The hotel is in a great location , within easy walking distance to the main street with popular bars and excellent restaurants. I would be more than happy to stay again.

I had 2 rooms booked for 2 adults and 2 kids, I would’ve thought we’d get rooms beside each other. Was told at checkin that as the hotel was very busy they couldn’t place us in rooms alongside each other but I had made this booking months ago so can’t understand why the rooms were so far apart. Our stay was for our 25th wedding anniversary and our total group had taken 7 rooms with others in the group having rooms beside each other so what reception said was untrue. I also asked for an early checkin or if there would be a room we could leave bags in and that I could change into my dress as I needed to be at the 25th venue before 4pm and check in wasn’t until 3.30. I was told I could pay extra for early checkin and no offer was made to store bags. Very disappointing customer service. Room was tiny and bathroom could’ve been doing with a good clean as the grout around shower and tiles was very grubby.

breakfast one eastern European waitress insisted we could not have a pot of tea before our food we just want a cup of tea before eating we where there for 6 nights and this only happened once the Irish waitress where great and understood that we wanted tea before food

Our 3 nights stay at Lake of Shadows was excellent. The decor and room were amazing, with excellent standards of cleanliness. Sleeping was easy as bed was very comfortable!.The variety and standard of food on offer was very impressive and delicious .The hotel was beautifully decorated and the icing on the cake was how attentive the staff were .Being friendly and efficient made our stay so lovely. Located very central to everything was a big bonus! First time in Buncrana and will definitely be back again to Lake of Shadows! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting this lovely town .

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. Parking was convenient and easy, which made our arrival stress-free. It’s a family-owned property, and you can really feel the warm, personal touch in the service — everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and lovely Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy and pleasant stay!

Great location,good food although had a bit of a wait on Saturday evening,few customers got up and left,but they were busy with a few big tables,special mention to Lilly who served us both Saturday night and again Sunday morning,very friendly,bubbly and a credit to your staff

We were to stay here for 3 nights however we had a family emergency on the 3rd day & had to return home. Jennifer very kindly refunded the 1 night we couldn't stay. Thank you to Jennifer. We found some of the rooms to be very gloomy so eventually we were given a lovely bright room with 3 windows so we were happy to be in the room. Everything was spotless - comfy bed - great shower - tea & coffee making facilities. Breakfast was adequate not a huge selection but enough. We had dinner there one evening with family & the food was diverse & very tasty. Staff are very pleasant & helpful. Hotel is just a few minutes walk from Buncrana high St so very convenient. Would stay here again ⭐️

This is my second time in this hotel, and not our last..its just what a hotel should be, welcoming, amazing boutique rooms, dining, staff friendly and efficient, we arrived late but what we ordered was excellent ,breakfast was good, lots going on in the town, beach not to far away..overall very relaxing and enjoyable, will be back

me and my partner has planned a visit to the hotel for the night and ended up in a car crash on the way there ( both pretty injured) after ringing the hotel to explain what has happened they didn’t seem to care not even an offer to give money back or change the night of stay

The service was excellent, so friendly. The rooms well appointed and with a bath, so often nowadays only showers. jThe food itself was superb, the only fault and the reason it did not get a ten was the cutlery and crockery aon the breakfast table were dirty, stained and two chipped cups

Hi, just a couple of things. At check-in I was asked to pay the full bill even though I had already prepaid with yourselves. Wasn't able to access Internet to prove i had already paid, so for the duration of our stay we had to use our data as i have said the hotels was non existent. I enquired as to why and was told they would check it out but never got back to me. Generally the hotel was clean but tired and dated. We had a meal in the restaurant on the Saturday night. The person showed us to our seats with food menu's then disappeared never to be seen again. Usually you,re asked would you like to order a drink while you decide what you want to eat. However 10 minutes later we did manage to order wine from a different member of staff. Not a happy experience at all i,m afraid to say.

After already paying on booking.com before we arrived the receptionist demanded we pay them again and made a scene . I explained many of times before that it has already been paid and they told us it is not possible , then eventually after standing at reception for 30 mins he came and said “oh I see use have paid “ then gave us our room key! Very poor reception!
