rien, c'était parfait
Perfect in every way. Gorgeous property, brilliant staff, fabulous cuisine, large and beautifully decorated rooms and bath. Every staff member made us feel welcomed. Shout out to Sam, Luke, and Pat for their helpfulness and wisdom about the Ballymaloe region.
Undeniable genuine interest in good food, good service and a cooking course which empowered me to create restaurant level, healthy food, at home for family and friends.
Nothing...all exceptionally high standard
Beautiful location with trails for walking
Nothing
Old world with a Touch of romance-
Spectacular cooking and ingredients
Upscale ancient hotel with amazing restaurant, grounds & accomodations, would stay longer next time. Gift & cafe is amazing.
Stunning old house
Our Annex bedroom in coach house was too hot and a bit noisy by the kitchens.
Excellent period property
Nothing
A country house retreat experience. Stay for the 5 course dinner. You won’t regret it!!
I stayed at Castlemyrtle Resort before moving over to Ballymaloe House Hotel. I expected comparable comfort—especially since I’m paying more here—but key amenities like air conditioning and a TV were missing. Dinner was, frankly, disappointing for the price. The food lacked creativity and flavor, and the service fell short. Trainees were serving and couldn’t explain the dishes or answer basic questions about the food. Really? When you’re paying over $100 per person for a meal, you expect servers who are at least knowledgeable. The staff were friendly, but the lack of expertise was noticeable. Outside of the beautiful setting, everything else felt mediocre.
Staff/ food as farm to table / the country aspect and grounds
Perhaps pricing options for the dinner menus
Quietness and comfort
Small bar
Wonderful peaceful break . Particularly the stay in the coach room. Lovely to meet Fern . Thank you
Lovely hotel and property
Wonderful
Lovely setting and estate.
Our room was pleasant but…. There were no tea and coffee making facilities’ no safe, no TV (which didn’t bother us but others might expect in a €400 a night hotel) and no toiletries for use in the bath (they were screwed to the wall in the shower). When we asked for toiletries we were provided with bath salts and a bar of soap. There is no AC but we didn’t ask for a fan. We ate dinner on our first night (of 4). The food was underwhelming - ordinary country fare you might expect in a pub - and we waited over 30 mins for our main course. We cancelled our booking for the following evening. Breakfast was reasonable although they got our order wrong on the first two mornings. The scrambled eggs were actually an omelette. The staff were generally pleasant although several of the waiting staff were wearing dirty uniforms and one had her hem held up with pins. We were only advised at the last minute that we would be arriving during the Ballymaloe food festival. Overall, very disappointing with the hotel obviously trading on past reputation and glory.
We had an amazing stay at Ballymaloe, new family favorite. Staff is wonderful, food is incredible. We will be back again!
Absolutely! Here’s a shorter version for Google Reviews: A truly special place. Ballymaloe House Hotel combines elegant charm with warm, genuine hospitality. The rooms are beautiful, the food is outstanding—fresh, seasonal, and mostly from their own gardens—and the whole experience feels peaceful and personal. The dessert trolley is so decident, a perfect countryside escape. Can't wait to come back!
I enjoyed the dinner. I felt front of house were just ok The staff in the resteraunt were top class When we arrived we were just left standing there while 3 staff members attended one man ?? I had to ask for more info re room n hotel n key etc. I have had better service in other hotels. We were told there was no cake left on our arrival??
Very old style. Country farm feel about it.
No complaints about the property.
beautiful!
This is a lovely country house with a charming gift shop- but the staff lacked the Irish warmth we are accustomed to all over Ireland - there seemed to be an air of “ we’re trying to be Posh”!! You’re a country property with chickens and pigs- not the Savoy in London!!
Breakfast was superb We really enjoyed the outdoor pool All the food was amazing Music in the drawing room was most enjoyable
Because we had our window open the kitchen fan woke us up early
Beautiful family owned business with a fantastic restaurant and amazing food, staff and design
Breakfast was very good
There should be an option for guests that arrive late that do not want a five course dinner , to be offered a sandwich menu, this option is for sure lacking and needs to be considered, some guests have other events booked and desire just a simple sandwich , this is not an option at Ballymaloe House
Absolutely stunning place with some of the best staff I've experienced!
The setting was stunning. The menu and food were exceptional. Staff were welcoming. Our accommodations were spacious. The history of the building and grounds is fascinating. The story of the Allen family and their descendants is truly inspirational.
The staff are fantastic as was the food (breakfast was a wonder). Great sized rooms, Adam and the team behind the bar made us feel right at home!
No complaints here!
The breakfast was most enjoyable and there was a terrific selection.
I liked the rustic feel and the beautiful flowers everywhere nice atmosphere i liked the fact very little waste of food and very good food
I thought a bit pricey for one nite
Really fantastic experience & good value.
Quality service
Our stay at Ballymaloe House was a bit of a mixed bag. The house, grounds, and dining were all excellent, but the staff (less the waitresses and bartenders) were the low point of our trip. We had several interactions where, at best, we were made to feel like an inconvenience, and at worst like we were lesser. Basic requests like ordering room service for dinner were met with obvious annoyance from the front desk. So much so that we actually dragged ourselves to dinner after a terrible day of travel because it seemed like such a burden for them. On our final morning we showed up to breakfast as it was opening because we needed to get an early start. The hostess seemed aggravated and treated us like we had showed up an hour early. While none of these interactions were hugely problematic we left feeling like we needed to apologize for showing up in the first place.
The facilities are great, as they were when we last stayed there some years ago
The staff are no longer the happy lovely host they used tobe.. to stiff and impersonal.
All fantastic.....amazing fresh bread, porridge and cooked breakfast
Nothing
The quiet and the general feel of the place which was very nice indeed

We loved everything: our room was perfect, quiet with a comfortable bed and great bedding. The staff were amazing—- always going out if tbeir way to be helpful and enhance your stay. The restaurant needs no description—-wonderful food cooked with great love and care.
Absolutely nothing!
Fabulous and always enjoyable!
Hands down the best experience we could’ve ever imagined. Comfortable, spacious accommodations. Kind, thoughtful, professional management and staff. World class food. Top marks.
Historic propert well maintained
Can’t speak highly enough of this hotel. A really incredible establishment, a magnificent building and grounds with really lovely and friendly staff. Fantastic experience - would definitely recommend.
.
Best stay of my trip to Ireland!
We were very pleased with procedure the management dealt with a problem we had during dinner the first night. And every effort was made to ensure we enjoyed the rest of our stay. We look forward to returning in the future.
Breakfast and dinner superb ! ambience, decor and surroundings fantastic !
No fridge, no television, no tea/ coffee facilities!
Underbart läge och natur. Fantastiskt hus och intilliggande rum i hus. Trevlig personal.
Beautiful old manor house steeped in history. Beautiful haute cuisine dinner and special breakfast. Cooking school nearby very interesting and worth a visit - particularly for its extensive garden adjacent
Nothing really
The attention to detail in everything . Love the fact that they try in as far as possible to make or produce as much on site eg grow their own vegetables, herbs ,fruit, flowers ,eggs, ,honey, jam ,some meats : pork and lamb .Do their own coffee roasting . Also source their produce locally fish + cheese .
A bit pricey but to put a package like this together and employ so many staff can understand why .
Lovely spacious and comfortable room with large bathroom including free standing bath and shower. Very friendly and courteous staff.
Nothing, it was all very satisfactory, a great luxury stay. The highlight of course was the superb dinner, although the wine was a little pricey.
I loved the beautiful settings and rustic charm. Also the staff are fantastic and very professional
I honestly couldn't fault my experience.
Everything!!
Room was excellent
one of the best places we have stayed at 5star service 5star staff
it was so perfect in every detail
Ballymaloe is absolutely beautiful. The building is gorgeous and pristine and the gardens are incredible. Meals were excellent and the staff attentive and friendly.
There is nothing I disliked!
Such a special place! Service, food, accommodations, staff...excellent. Magical in everyway!
Although it is an expensive choice, everything was of a very high quality which made it excellent value for money
Could do with new tennnis balls!
Lovely, out of the way setting. Nice pool, tennis court, walking paths. Our rooms were nice and the bathroom was modern. Service for tea and in the dining room was fantastic. We enjoyed the 5-course dinner well into the night. No self-serve laundry whoch put a cramp in our plans but not a huge deal. The desk staff was super accomodating
the food, the friendliness of everyone, the ambiance, the harvest going on around- the feeling of timelessness.
nothing- it was pretty faultless. Mind you the weather was extraordinary- never have I seen Ireland so drenched in sun.
Ballymaloe House is located in a beautiful country estate setting with lots of greenery around the property. The locally sourced food is exquisite. I would like to go back and spend more time there.
Everything was perfect , attentive ,pleasant staff , beautiful setting and wonderful food!
Nothing at all
Ballymaloe House is a beautiful property and the everyone there was so kind and helpful. The 5 course dinner was incredible and such a treat! We will visit this special place again one day.
Beautiful stay, comfortable calming room and food was divine as always
Wonderful staff & service. Food as good as anticipated, everything home or locally grown, flavourful and fresh.
Great food, amazing service. Highly recommended
Absolutely loved the local feel! We were the only "tourists". Even had someone come in and play music after dinner. Just lovely!
Fabulous. Staff very friendly. Room was superb as was the dining experience and breakfast. Would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you
Absolutely super stay. So relaxed and peaceful. Will be back soon. Dinner was amazing. 10/10
Great staff, amazing accommodation. Lovely respite and get away
An absolutely wonderful place! Will definitely stay again when we return to Ireland. All the staff were great and the accommodations beautiful. Also spent time walking the gardens...
Beautiful setting. Lovely old house. Great gardens. Lots of interesting products
It was an amazing accommodation & experience - would recommend it to everyone!
A gentle elegant country house, resplendent in the sunshine. Individually named comfortable well appointed sunny rooms. Comfortable bed for good nights sleep. Excellent breakfast.
