Best Western Kincardine

Location was great for us. Room was attended to every day by house cleaners. Breakfast was good.

Overall the building could use some maintenance - for example, a back door to the building had a broken lock and was there fore open to anyone coming into the building - for 3days. Hallways were not vacuumed for the entire 3 days we were there.

The bed was really comfortable

The bathroom was not clean at all . Breakfast was really bad , it’s sad that that type of food is served in our country . This should not be allowed here !!!

The bed was extremely squeeky at the slightest move. It was also firmer than I prefer and the bedside plugs didn't work. The entry doors had to be banged shut before they would close, so we could hear all our neighbors doors banging as well

The breakfast was good. The location was handy.

There were cobwebs on the ceiling and walls and small flying bugs in the bathroom and bed area. The floor was sticky.

The room had a very strong odor so bad that it gave you a sore throat and headache. The bathroom sink would not drain. I had booked for 2 nights and upon arrival with the conditions we decided we could not stay in that room for a second night. The manager would not allow us to cancel the room. I am most disappointed in Best Western and have not stayed in another Best Western on our road trip.

We liked the breakfast, it had lots of selection. the ladies at the front desk and in the dining room were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is lots of great parking, the building has lots of natural light and is a convenient layout.

There wasn't really anything that was obvious at the time.

The location is great, only a few minutes drive to the beach and town; free parking and the beds (2 queen) were comfy with 4 pillows per bed; some staff were friendly and doing their best. That’s what earned the 2 stars. Otherwise; the hotel has the air of being neglected. From the musty stale odour when entering the lobby, despite the updated furnishing look, to the strong chemical odour in the room, and lacking a cleanliness you would expect in any hotel, it was a miserable experience staying here this summer. Points to note Best Western; Check-in advertised as 3pm, told not ready until 4pm, essentially go away and come back later - no apology, and no eye contact from manager. On arrival in the room, smell of chemicals hit first, toilet had an intermittent constant tank refill running, counter top jammed over the lid, so unable to be checked by staff; sink not properly cleaned, hand soap empty had to ask for a replacement, evidence of poor maintenance everywhere (photos), bathroom floor stained and not properly cleaned, bath stained. Balloons were left on top of room cupboard, presumably by previous guests and bedding sheets were rumpled. Fridge grubby, wall surfaces streaky looked like they were cleaned with a dirty cloth. TV not smart, only cable channels, difficult to use remote and grainy picture. Internet was next to useless, unable to download movies on portable device so no ability to relax with entertainment in the room - very poor considering technology now. Bathroom fan stopped working on last day, emitting a high pitched whining when on. Dining room tables were sticky, not clean, breakfast is not great, light bulb missing; the lack of attention to detail is astounding for a Best Western chain. We left a day early, very disappointed, would not recommend!

Location is great

Bathroom was dirty... non skid mat in the bathtub had not been removed in days. Dirt under the non skid mat ... not acceptable... non skid mat should not be used ... collects bacteria from other people's showering habits. No plug fir the coffee machine available... no in room hairdryer... toilet seat was YELLOW ... needs replacing immediately.

It was close to all amenities

The breakfast was one of the worst hotel breakfasts we have ever had. On top of that, the staff member serving breakfast was extremely rude and unfriendly toward the guests, which made the experience even worse. The hotel also seemed very understaffed. There was only one receptionist who appeared to be responsible for everything, including housekeeping. On the second day of our stay, we had a question and the receptionist we spoke with was unable to provide any information or assistance. She seemed confused, had no idea what was going on, and was also quite rude. Overall, the lack of proper staffing, poor customer service, and disappointing breakfast made our stay very unpleasant. We expected much better and unfortunately would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Easy parking, comfy beds

Medium clean room. 1st room they tried to put us in was noisy (ground floor, all the windows faced the driveway by front lobby). Front desk was not helpful when we asked about cab companies she said just Google it. Wifi was weak. House keeping woke us up at 9am trying to clean the room even though check out is 11am!

Forgot to change my booking .Com to my new credit card..so charge didn't go thru and they called the police to my house instead of calling me..(was local).and I was emailed about the problem and told them I would be up the next afternoon to pay it.

Negatives- room was musty. Sink were really really slow ,toilet seat was worn out.. tv was awful and it would stop off and on ... Internet was a disaster.. Friday at4 when we arrived some workers had most of the parking spot blocked close to the door cause they were renovating outside right in front of our room.. Breakfast was ok but Limited to a few things and waffle machine was good .. The management or staff seem ok .. Positives-- The location was perfect from the beach or Sobeys and Timmy's across the street...

Breakfast was good - the kitchen staff did extremely well to provide a cooked breakfast each day at 5:30, despite, weirdly, a group of ~25 guests appearing on the dot and eating everything as fast as it was provided.

A party on Friday night, centred on a first floor (ie floor above ground) room with a kind of balcony on to a flat roof which was very noisy and very late. Lack of variety at breakfast, but given the particular difficulty with the guest party mentioned above in 'what did you like', simple and quick was necessary. It may be that you should be wary of large parties at the hotel.

Our room at the end was good and comfortable

The original room we had no a/c so they relocated us to another room but it took over one hour and my wife was fed up and at the end they took off $100 from our bill.

Worst hotel experience ever. 2 noticeably different mattresses. One was a nice new pillow top, the other was something you’d find in a dated cottage. What was worse was that upon opening the sheets, a pubic hair. The beds were both full of hair and lint, clearly just remade. They didn’t have any other rooms to move us to, so we asked if we could at least get clean sheets and compensated for this experience. There was also a very unpleasant odour when we entered the room, the television was very blurry, and the ac unit was very loud. Don’t stay here. We are planning on skipping the complementary breakfast after reading some honest reviews on this place.

Room was nice roomy and clean, and liked the toiletries offered to use.

Our room was right beside the main driveway entrance so cars driving by were virtually only a few feet from our window. Also we had to keep our blinds down the entire time otherwise people walking by would be looking in your room, again from only a few feet away. The breakfast was the bare minimum. I wasn’t expecting a big spread but the breakfast layout advertised making your own oatmeal, yoghurt and waffles, however none of these items were available.

No kitchen light. There was very dark area, difficult to prepare food. TV was not working g. Very difficult to get in. Needed to go throughout TV setting each time after you turn off.

The breakfast was disgusting. The staff brought food out in bowls so nothing was hot and she brought 3 pancakes out at a time then it would be over 10 minutes before she'd bring out 3 more. The front of the building looks like it's falling down and no one vacuumed the hallway the 2 nights we were there.

There was hardly ever anyone on the reception desk if needed. Our room needs a new shower curtain. Hallways were not clean the day we arrived but were vacuumed the next day.

Cliché, but there is nothing we didn't like.

I stayed here in 2021 and it was clean and inviting. When I booked it this time, it felt like a completely different experience. Room was filthy, the floors had visible debris on them and the toilet seat and shower floor were soiled. The smoke detector was ripped off the ceiling and left on a shelf with the wires still hanging. Very disappointed to see the condition of this hotel. The gentleman at the front desk was pleasant, that's the only good thing I have to say about my stay.

Only complaint is I could hear all the rooms above very thin walls/ceilings and the doors slamming early in the morning when people leaving room. Tongue in the door does not allow a smooth closing of the door. The doors had to be slmost slammed in order to close fully.

Nice room, people were nice although no cleaning service during our stay in our room, good coffee in the morning, and unfortunately breakfast was not good, eggs, sausage and home fries were all overcooked and super dry both days! Disappointing.

Very friendly and courteous staff, the morning breakfast was acceptable. We did have a problem with our main TV not operating properly however the TV in the bedroom worked just fine. Our room was clean but you could see that there been repairs and more repairs needed to be done especially in the outside shower area but it was doable. We would stay there again.

The Wonderful continental breakfast, our room had the free kitchenette. Later that night we discovered we would need to stay one more night. Although the same room was not available. Gail was Wonderful she got me checked into another room for the next night. Traveling with two senior for a family emergency. Gail had no idea how Wonderful it was that she was able to make the transition just a few steps away. I was Traveling with my 91 year old mom & 80 year old Aunt. Sadly we were in town, their sister (My Aunt) was in hospice. She passed away Saturday morning. So thank you Gail Grass for your warm greeting and smile. Many hotels chains do not feel as warm. It was definitely appreciated during this difficult visit.

Pleasantly surprised after all the mix reviews . Who knew the breakfast would have been the most surprising? Quite a bit of options- warm, hot,cold - helpful service. Kept things clean and tidy as persons had breakfast. Had fun making my own waffles. Self serve. The beds were comfy. Convenience of microwave and coffee machine in room. Great lighting. Double lock. Lot's of extra towels. Check in and check out was pleasant. Never needed to call, can't speak to how responsive. However , i did call days prior to arrival to clarify a few things . They were helpful. The cable TV: more than 20 channels. Kid's stuff included. Only issue: A/C seemed to not work or perhaps it was off. Didn't clarify. Window air was fine. As other's mentioned, if you are expecting 5 star top of the line and concierge- may not be it. I would definitely stay here again- clean rooms + helpful when needed + filling breakfast. First room given (112) was deplorable. HVAC until was coated in mould, and when turned on I was instantly triggered into and asthma attack. This was very concerning and is certainly a public health issue. Floors with black with dirt and many crumbs and dust. Sink and tub did not drain well. There were hairs of previous customers in tub. There were spatter marks on bed headboard and on desk headboard thing. After checking in very late, we turned off HVAC and chose to just sleep. Talked to Assistant Manager (bearded guy) in a.m. He gave us a new room, which was much improved. He also said he would be giving us credit for our first nights' stay. This was not reflected in our bill on check out, and the guy was not around, nor anyone to approve it. It has now been 30 hours and still not credit.

Could have been cleaner - many long hairs around and my head is shaved. Toilet flushed slow and sink drained very slow. Bed was acceptable but not overly comfortable. Breakfast was cold by 8:30 - stick to the cold items or waffles.

The room itself, was fine, but the hallways looked as though the rugs had not been vacuumed in quite some time. Not sure why they put signs on the front doors asking guests to use the back entrance - strange way to treat your guests, especially since the front doors were propped open! The problem with using the back door, which does not lock, is that it is where the smoking area is - directly beside the door. Again, shocking and disgusting to treat your guests this way. The breakfast, which was included, was mediocre at best. The front desk help was mostly not there. Called the front desk multiple times from my room - no one ever answered the phone.

Second time staying here. Staff are very kind and helpful. Breakfast is good, beds are very comfortable. This last stay we had was in room 119, overall it was very nice. Stovetop, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. We did find that it was a bit noisy being that it was on the bottom floor right beside the roadway. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay

While this hotel has a great location, the hotel itself leaves much to be desired. Everywhere you look there is work to be done, and projects half done. It’s quite old, and the decor shows. The hallways were filthy and unkept, and looked like they hadn’t seen a vacuum in months. The hallway fixtures looked like something straight out of the 80s. The room itself was ok, and the bed was comfortable, but it was quite dirty. We were left with half a roll of toilet paper for a 2 night stay. This was a mini vacation for my husband and I, and I was awoken at 6am on a Sunday from the housekeeper stomping down the hall and slamming doors and things. The hotel also isn’t secure, as the exterior doors didn’t require our key card to enter. We will not return here for sure. Spend a little more and go somewhere nicer.

Overall good stay, the hotel is a bit dated but it was quiet and the staff was friendly. If your on a budget would recommend.

Water had not been mopped up between beds or in the bathroom. Under the beds had not been cleaned, other people's stuff under the them.Doors are not sealed you can hear everyone else closing their doors and hear the people above walking .

Clean and beautiful rooms

General wear and tear in the hotel public areas. Some areas more evident than others. Same with the King executive room, nicks, dents, paint chips, wear on furniture. Great value for the money for budget minded stays.

The common areas were poorly maintained, dirty carpets, and smelly. The room was dirty, and seemed to be not properly cleaned. The bathroom had stained walls and ceiling. It smelled of old cigarettes even though it was supposed to be a non smoking room. The pictures online were very decieving. There was exposed wire on the floor from the AC unit. Luckily we only had to sleep there and then get out ASAP in the morning.

Toilet seat was falling off the toilet. Not much for amenities nearby but breakfast was good and price was good.

Excellent one night stay, very friendly staff and super breakfast

We checked into the room in a hurry, because we were running late for a wedding. When we came back that night, we noticed the garbage and recycling wasn’t changed, there was a dead fly and dirt in the corner of the bathroom, the jets in the bathtub and the bathtub itself was dirty, the drawers in the vanity were rotten And the floors were not washed, socks got pretty dirty.. In the stair well there was spiders and spiderwebs. No one asked how our stay was upon check out.

There was black mold in the bathroom & in the fridge. Went down to let the front desk know ; was sent to another room. The breakfast was pretty low quality for the price - it was not as good as a lower price hotel we stayed in the previous night. Small number of options, of mediocre quality. No fruit. The window latch in our room was broken, I called the desk and they said someone would come, but they never did. I had to dismantle the frame and mend it myself, so we could close the window and keep out the sound of traffic. The hotel was expensive for what it offered.

The texts sent had a different guest name attached to them. I responded. No answer. I called. No answer. I hope my info was not shared with anyone? The bed was hatd and squeaky. The air conditioner sounded like a jet engine so every time it cycled on it woke us up. The shower head did not work. Just had water leaking out the edges. Very disappointed.
