False advertising. Its really a motel stuck to an old building but the photo makes you think its a lovely old boutique hotel.

The inn owner is amazing and attentive. The inn is a sweet little space with beautiful outdoor spots.

Location, we had our dog, there are no sidewalks out front, I did find a trail out back but that was just by luck The bathroom layout was not user friendly, and especially no hooks or towel bars to hang damp towels, etc And I’m really disappointed in the price we paid for what we received, I expected more than a standard motel room for the price we paid for 4 nights

The gardens Quiet

I loved the boutique vintage style of the hotel , super clean, freshly renovated and painted , no carpets in the room , just wood or wood like floors , bedding and towels smelled clean . Loved the breakfast, high quality and omelets were freshly made , 5 minute ride from the beach and courthouse square , it’s located in a quite area surrounded by greenery

Front facing room! Very little view of Maitland river even from the back facing rooms. With the view and walking trails being further away than expected the hotel was overpriced.

I appreciated that I was able to have two dogs in the room and the room was well-configured for that. Staff was great. Breakfast was great. Patio door to river view and space out back was great. Parking was great.

Room felt cheap and functional. The "fireplace" was an electric heater. The internet to the TV didn't work. There was no bathtub, which was contrary to my reservation.

How clean our room was. The breakfast was outstanding! The staff was superb!

Bed linens did not have a crisp, clean feel. One of the pillows had a very unpleasant odour. Elena, the front desk receptionist was advised of this.

Nice room with a view and the European breakfast was awesome. We booked online last minute and we're very pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. We'll definitely book there again.

No sport facility.

This was our favorite place to stay during our three week car trip through the states up to Tobermory on the Bruce Peninusla and back to the states. What did we like? First of all, Samuel's was quiet and serene. No traffic noise. The view was of nature with flowers and a bit of a zen garden right our our room's sliding glass door. More natural views beyond our little garden to the riverbank of the Maitland River. Since our room in the building was one story, we had not outer guests moving about over our heads. Peaceful. Our room was spacious, the beds were wonderful, the shower was different with a stone floor and a glass door so it felt open and not enclosed. Our breakfasts each morning reminded us of Europe--cold cuts, yummy little pastries, Danishes and breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, good, strong coffee--and even an espresso machine. One night we took advantage of Samuel's limited room service menu and enjoyed our first taste of Sticky Toffee Pudding--delicious! They even greeted us with a Happy Anniversary card and a sweet arrangement of wild flowers. We both felt a welcome relief from the typical corporate branded hotels & motels and left feeling refreshed and happy with our stay. Well-done, Samuel's!! Thank you.

The run was spacious and very clean. Our back doors opened up to nature and a sparkling River. Elena was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has the best breakfast buffet I have seen for a long time. Lots of coffee and fruit and vegetables.

The only criticism I could have was that the housekeeping staff didn't replace our coffee pods or creamers/sugar for our second morning. Small stuff compared to the rest of the experience.

Every room has its own patio. Very comfortable and private.

My wife was disappointed there was no hottub.

This is a spotless hotel with very nice staff. The backside rooms face a nice garden.

We stayed for two nights and there was an unpleasant smell in the night that we couldn't figure out the source of.

It is in a beautiful area.

The rooms facing the water are beautiful but the other side all of the rooms are ground floor with patio doors to the parking lot. We did not like that the hotel called us at 7 wondering where we were. Their website states they are open until 9 but once we arrived at 7 the front desk staff left the building.

The photos on the site did not match for example there were no toweling robes in the room as was shown in the photo and are to be expected in a boutique hotel. Breakfast was cold buffet but very good. Bed was good. Not a boutique hotel.

Hotel is absolutely spotless. Very lovely place to stay, quiet and peaceful! The room was beautiful looking out into a small patio and greenery! The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and polite!

This boutique hotel is very clean, quiet and comfortable. Close to Goderich - 2 minute drive. The staff are super friendly and accommodated my gluten allergy at the buffet breakfast that was included with our stay. A beautiful view and walk out patio with well kept gardens made our stay feel so peaceful. Nice touch with a little welcome treat upon arrival. Highly recommend !

just came back from a weekend here, a totally wonderful experience. The owner was very gracious, beautiful room and view from the balcony window was a serene back yard instead of a parking lot. The continental breakfast was better than anything we have experienced while travelling Loved it!!

The property was clean and close to Goderich.

The property was misrepresented as a ‘boutique hotel’. It’s an average motel. The decor, the amenities are not boutique or niche level nor are the amenities represented in the listing or website current or accurate. Example: ‘River view’ is nonexistent as the brush is completely grown in and the river is not visible and as well quite a distance away. The lounge areas and outdoor terrace depicted in the gallery and listing are only accessible via the upstairs separate suite booking and not accessible to regular guests in regular rooms.

Room was clean and spacious, but best part was fancy breakfast buffet in very elegant dining room! Location is a bit removed from town center, but that made it quiet for sleeping…

Great location. Nice private outdoor sitting area with trees. The property itself is immaculate inside and out. Lovely dining room for breakfast and the continental breakfast was very good.

Breakfast was described as exceptional. Nothing more than some fruit, cakes, breads and cheese. Nothing freshly cooked. There was no creamer for coffee in the room.

Samuels Boutique Hotel was lovely. Beautiful setting overlooking the Maitland River and with relaxing individual patios outside of rooms facing the River. Delicious breakfast with a very large assortment of foods. Very easy to find right on the edge of town with a wonderful staff. Highly recommend!

Quiet, pretty

Everyone was very friendly and we had the added surprise of a blanket, dog bowl, and treat for our pup when we arrived! Other personal touches like fresh flowers in the room and a card with the time of sunset made things more special!

Location was good but a drive to get to the beach. The rooms were large with a nice terrace facing a grassy area that was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was easy with lots of choice in a bright airy room.

The bedding seemed to be a bit old and the fitted sheet wasn't doing its job. Pillows were plentiful but lumpy.

We chose Samuels to stay at as a family because it was close to the things we wanted to do. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and I appreciated the daily housekeeping. I thought the hotel would have better views for the price, but as we weren’t at the hotel much during the day that was fine. The majority of the staff were great and kind to my kids. However, I have anaphylaxis due to a nut allergy and was a bit concerned when I saw the breakfast buffet had several nut items. I asked the person at the front desk if she could tell me what had nuts and what didn’t, and she shrugged and said it would be hard to guess. It might be helpful in the future, given many people have food allergies or sensitivities these days, to make a list of allergens for the items served seeing as the breakfast was the exact same the 3 days we were there. Luckily I was able to find enough to eat without nuts and didn’t have a reaction from any cross-contamination.

The property is very well taken care of. There are so many nice touches that they have added to make it very tranquil. The breakfast in the morning was so good and the host, Elena was so nice and welcoming and the bed was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The free continental Breakfast was one of the best I have seen. Great selection and delicious. Room and property were very nice.

The hotel was very comfortable and clean. It was quiet and very relaxing to have a terrace overlooking the river. The breakfast was fantastic!! The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The room was lovely with a nicely stocked little mini fridge.

The food service - breakfast and cheese plate in the afternoon was superb. Beautifully presented.

Staff was welcoming and pleasant, lobby was serene, welcoming and cool on a a very hot day! So refreshing! Check in quick and easy. Room was clean and well appointed with the little touches that made it feel boutique as advertised-toiletries, flowers, nicely stocked mini fridge which had reasonable costs for items. Bathroom area/shower was spacious. Fireplace and TV would be cozy for a winter visit. We had the "village view" and there was not traffic noise once the door was closed, it was not an issue at all. Lovely grounds to sit or take a walk if you wanted. European style breakfast was delicious and complimented the boutique atmosphere of the hotel. Very conveniently located 1km outside of Goderich, it was easy to spend the day at the beach, visit the market in the square and have dinner out and not feel like we were in the car alot. Would definitely recommend and return!

Samuels boutique came to our rescue!!! The hotel ( will not mention the name) we had reserved turned out to be a complete and utter dump. Needless to say we Promptly left . Like ran!!! Samuels came highly recommended, and luckily they had a room to accommodate us and our dog( first time travelling with him) Samuels Hotel is located perfectly…exceptional customer service …beautifully clean room… great bedding and the towels are plush and soft! A doggie bundle welcomed us as well… bowl, biscuit, blanket and fresh water The continental breakfast is fresh, delicious and reminiscent of a European breakfast. Loved it. Excellent coffee station including a multi choice espresso cappuccino station. Let me reiterate… CLEAN! Attention to detail is obvious and so appreciated . Crisp white linens on the tables, wonderful warm decor. Thank you for saving our visit to Goderich.

I stayed in the jacuzzi room. The view from the terrace/room looks over the Maitland river and has an island vibe. Extremely clean, very comfortable bed with a spa like feel in the amazing jacuzzi tub. There was a wonderful, very pleasant lady that seemed to do it aĺl. Continental Breakfast had the best variety i have seen. If you're looking for that pituresque with a little pampering this is the place to go.

Only one bathrooms for 4 adults was not good. 2.4% credit card surcharge should have been included in the price.

The property was beautiful. More food optons at the property could benefit it. Also some sort of small counter to table in the bathroom to put your toiletries on would be handy. I do understand the washrooms are wheelchair accessible. The smart tv was appreciated. And the mini patio was ideal for quiet evenings outside your room.

What a wonderfully relaxing stay and the morning breakfast buffet was amazing!

Everything was great. The room opened onto a beautiful little zen garden with a small covered patio to listen to the birds. The bed and pillows were super comfy and the room was immaculate. The continental breakfast was.plentiful and fresh. Location was great. Just a couple of minutes to restaurants, the beach and downtown.
