Coastal Motor Lodge

I last stayed at Coastal Motor Lodge In December 2022 and rated it a 9 at that time. The location is great with sea views from many rooms and I enjoyed taking a walk down the beach. It is a quick drive into Thames township for supplies and the Tararu store is in easy walking distance.

The room we stayed in needs some R&M. Examples include the cupboard doors looking a bit shabby, the blind was missing a panel, and the lounge suite was stained and really needs to be replaced. Some attention to maintenance would soon bring my rating of Coastal Motor Lodge back up.

Very neat and well maintained. Location is perfect. We were early for check-In and staff member at front desk accommodated us with early check-in without any extra charge. Thank you and will be back again for sure.

Noisy with neighbour's in next adjoining unit...wee bit of traffic noise but nothing that will stop you sleeping

La habitación olía raro y había hormigas en los armarios de la cocina, los utensilios de cocina no estaban muy limpios. El mobiliario en general era muy viejo. No funcionaban todos los enchufes ni las luces.

Good location being a few kilometers from town but still on the main road. Quiet inside the room so no road noise to disturb you. Has all the amenities you need for your stay. Good view of the sea from the cabin.

The location is perfect, right across from the water and has great views. The rooms are private; the bed is comfortable. The host was also very friendly and helpful.

When we arrived at our room (Room 8), the bathroom had not been cleaned, only a quick wipe down. There were stains in the toilet, a toenail on the bathroom floor, and hair in the shower. I had told the host, and she was very apologetic and moved us to another room. The other room was clean (Room 15); however, the bathtub definitely needs replacing as the tub feels unsteady and the seal around the bathtub has peeled and delaminated. You are also unable to close the bathroom door all the way - possibly due to swelling from water coming out from the bath. This was also my second time staying here, we were in Room 8 the first time and it was not this bad.

Lovely location, hot coffee and art studio right next door or short stroll, beach access meters away once you cross the road. A beautiful safe place for solo female travellers. I'll be booking again soon!

Shower ran out of hot water midway through, but excellent preassure and very clean.

Room was ok. Kitchen had water probably a leak but owner says it is the fridge. Water under vinyl in bathroom. Room was changed however.

It was cold 🥶.no heating .payed for a view from our room and had to walk 5m to get the view.could be a lovely room in the summer but not in the winter.

Grumpy man on check-in. Room 9 family unit. Horrible mouldy very old dirty bathroom. Rooms smelled like someone had died in it! When we arrived mid-winter all the windows were open so it was freezing and very damp. Only a tiny storage heater which was useless. We slept in our clothes and could not use the shower as so horrible and mouldy! Cockroaches and stained sofa. Basic furniture from 70s motel. Repulsive!

Booked for three people - 2 towels provided - then not replenished the next day.

They were very helpful when we realized we had accidentally booked and single room when we thought we had booked a two bedroom unit.

To be honest I found the pictures on the website somewhat misleading but possibly was my IT /reading and comprehension skills or lack of!

The location is superb. Walk across the road to the beach. Views fantastic from our unit.

Live and dead cock roaches. First one when I pulled sheets back . Obviously dead ones been there a while. I looked under the bed to check and bed was falling apart. Filthy under there. Dust and cobwebs. Very cold. Small wall heater useless. I am very disillusioned that while there are a very few reviews like mine there are also many five stars!!!!!! I really doubt these are genuine and am now dubious about trusting booking.com again. And you were my preferred booking place. We left at 8.30 and found another warm, clean place not far away.

Unfortunately cleaner hadn't completed job. Clean but rubbish lid on stove. No milk. Toilet seat up. Minor issues . Reception didn't seem too happy on arrival

Compact and cozy, comfortable bed, had a great night sleep. Close to Thames

Central, peaceful, unit was very clean and tidy.

The wooden steps leading from the unit were slippery and dangerous when lugging bags down them. The unit was cold and took a long while to heat up.

Bed sheets were nice and room was suitable size for 2 people

Make sure you don't get a ground floor room underneath noisy guests above, you hear every footstep and movement, no peace and quiet at all. Cockroaches and damp smell.

Near the coast

We stayed in a 2 bedroom family unit, not a chalet. It was clean, comfy with all requirements met. Dated building but updated furnishings. Comfy beds, good shower. 5 mins drive up the coast from town centre but good bus service. Value for money.

Room was old and musty . We had to ask for extra towels and help to get tv working. No milk provided in fridge for coffee. I was expecting two bedrooms but only one bedroom and one bed in room off loungeroom. We could have put up with it until we saw the cockroaches in room .. we counted ten ..one ran over my hand during the night and we checked our packets of breakfast goods that we were travelling with before we left and each found a cockroach in the bag .

The place the view and the room we were in room 15 and loved everything about it!

The wifi was a bit slow but every other facility was working and amazing ! Even had a hot plate

It was a bit more unusual and had a sea view. Otherwise it had all the facilities we needed.

It would be helpful to have a table big enough for 2 people to eat at.

Nice and comfortable with great views and close to town.

+ Dusche muss dringend erneuert werden, starker Schimmelbefall + Baddecke renovierungsbedürftig, massive Stockflecken + vermutlich als Ersatz aufgestellte Herdplatten waren sehr unsauber

Super friendly and helpful staff, absolutely recommend staying here. Great water views, the rooms are lovely and very clean and spacious. We will be back.

Fabulous location. Very comfortable bedding ,good shower or bath. Upstairs room has a nice view.

If carrying heavy luggage, request a ground floor apartment as the stairs are quite steep to carry suitcases up.

We liked the location (it was very peaceful), the size of the room, and the kitchen facilities.

We had a lot of trouble finding the sweet spot in the shower between cold and scalding hot.
