Wonderful friendly welcome. The beds are comfortable. Windows could do with some maintenance so they could close and locked but other than that it’s a lovely place to stay.

It is an older property but clean. It was quiet overnight and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay there again.

Our walking team had booked The Amber Court Motel our OXFAM 100km Walk. Unfortunately our walk was cancelled. The managers went above and beyond to be helpful and gave us a full refund. We are so appreciative 😊 we will stay here next time x

Adequate facility for a brief stay. Not close to any amenities.

Very friendly. Clean & tidy room. Surprisingly quiet.

Location was ideal. Bathroom was very small and poor drainage in bathroom basin. Lighting in rooms was poor.

We were pretty close to everything 5 minute drive to town countdown and all the takeout place nearby. Was a cold area where we were located but the room we stayed in was nice and warm very clean and welcoming. We could not book in early but were notified of this before we arrived. We had the full kitchen equipment we needed which was awesome because we took our on food to be cooked. We didnt get to see our hosts that much but that was ok.

We arrived at Whakatane without anywhere to stay and asked the local Tourist office and they referred us to her. The rooms are basic but well equipped with a good kitchen, bathroom and comfortable beds. Not flash by any means but comfortable and clean and a good price.

I did say I was bring a truck and trailer and would need somewhere to park ---this was because of security of the load. It was only a small truck and took some persuading but finally agreed on giving me parking over two units. was a bit of a turn off

Could have had a solar light on the gate entrance as it was hard to see when coming in later at night otherwise excellent and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Sayed one night of April 28th 2019. Room clean and tidy but kitchen area needs updating. Shower operation very stiiiiff and hard to control water temperature.. WiFi is free but on a usage limit basis.Location away from other accomodation and gave a peaceful nghts rest. I think another choice would have given better value for money.

Stayed throughout the Oxfam Trailwalk event, Carrol was kind and helpful throughout our stay even though we had a small miscommunication before. Easy access from the main road, 5mins drive from the supermarket and 8mins drive from the main city centre. Appreciate your assistance!

I arrived late - no problem letting myself in - and the motel had called me earlier in the evening to give instructions and welcome me. Expedia booking was totally straight forward. Everything is clean and crisp, and decor is inoffensive to the point of boring. But when you are after a good night's sleep, who's looking at the walls. I had a luxuriously comfortable Queen bed, seriously, deep soft underlay and a firm-ish mattress that suited me spot on. Everything worked and the cleanliness and precise paintwork and maintenance make the place authentic, like new. There's a very pleasant garden area out front. I felt sorry when I told the owner as I was leaving at 9am, that the within-date, unopened, refrigerated milk was curdled. Someone in the supply chain let him down. I'll stay again, no hesitation.

We have found Amber Court Motel very good, the beds very comfortable, hosts lovely and nothing is too much trouble. It is an older style motel but spotlessly clean and comfortable excellent shower. We would definitely stay here again

Whakatane surprised me in how nice it was, friendly, lovely walks (Bush and in town). Ohope beach was nice. Great wildlife. Loved our visit Accommodation was good. Sufficient. We’re surprised we only got 500mb free WiFi as booking said free WiFi. Phone chewed it up like anything :-(. Everything we needed was there

Selected this place as my typical options were not available on our work-related travel booking website. Older style motel that is a bit tired, however the room interior was tidy, clean and roomy. Actually was quite well laid out as a studio, giving the sense of separate spaces which was nice. Little bit of noise at night time from outside/road etc. Located a little away from the main town centre, but handy to a small shopping area for a quick takeaway meal. It was OK, and good for those on a budget.

we Were there only to stay overnight and left early morning

I am a none smoker and the room smelt of smoke, my sinus started to play up a half hour after going into the room. The person at reception wasn't very inviting, most managers would walk over, show you where to park and come to turn the lights on for you. One hour later. I jumped in my truck and left and never went back. It was a waste of my money.

We stayed at Amber Court motel last minute as the Waioeka Gorge was closed and it was fabulous. The room was lovely and warm, all the linen smelled and felt fresh and clean. The owners were friendly and it was a really nice experience. Would definitely recommend Amber Court

The lighting was so poor I could hardly see. When I went to use the microwave I had to get the light from my mobile phone. There is no need for poor lighting and to me its just a cheap way to save money. We pay good money to stay in these places and for that deserve better. A good LED bulb might cost more, but lasts longer and gives a decent light - 100w - not 60 or lower....

Great value stay for a 5 person family - basic facilities but very clean comfortable and tidy.

Reasonably priced, this motel has all the basics you need. We were able to check in early, which was helpful. Staff were friendly. My one slightly negative comment would be that the bed I had (3 singles) was extremely hard. I didn’t try all the beds to see if they were the same .. goldilocks and the 3 bears springs to mind :). I had friends in another room who said their bed was super comfy so my experience certainly not indicative of all the beds.

We stayed here 1 night because I could pay for it with Flybuy points. The complex is older but our unit number 5 has recently been refurbished with new floor coverings, paint & shower unit. The shower water spray is very strong, only downfall in the bathroom is there is only a very small window & no fan to remove steam. The only other issue was the smoke alarm kept going off after our shower and from cooking toast. Outside there is a small area with picnic tables and outside each unit tables and chairs. The bed was comfortable and our bedroom was separate from the living area which had a single bed in it so the unit could sleep 3. Also be aware there was a limit with wifi of 500 mb per device. Overall we had a good 1 night stay.

This motel was clean, comfortable and quiet within walking distance of shops. The only concern was the office was often unattended and locked. The surroundings were very pleasant.

We came into town 9.15 pm on a Friday night so did a remote check in, paid via wotif and never saw as the reception closes at 8.30pm. I had called to advise the motel that we would be running late a couple of days before our stay and they had suggested this a solution so I phoned them on Friday to complete this process. We didn't see any staff until our Sunday morning checkout where I handed the key back to reception. The person on the phone was professional, and the person checking out friendly. We had a one bed family unit, it slept up to three in the bedroom and had a double in the lounge. It had a two seater couch and a two seater table, sky TV. The had air conditioning and they had a small carton of real milk in the fridge waiting for us. Everything was very clean and well presented. Shower was compact and didn't have massive pressure but was sufficient. We would stay again when back in the area. They do a lot and at very fair price. Thanks to the hosts.

Convenient for town centre and waterfront. Just a short drive or a goodd walk - we did both. Beautiful cliff of native vegitation just across the road makes a wonderful backdrop. We booked for one night and ended up staying for 4 days. Our helicopter trip to White Island was a once in a lifetime experience and I highly recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay

Overall it is ok, the only thing that I feel it may need to improve is the WiFi service. Not sure if it is the 500MB limitation, end the day we can only have one device got stayed on the Wifi.

We stayed there for a night, it was ok for a short stay, but beds are terrible and very uncomfortable, too small for 4 people.

This is a small, quiet motel, perfect for a family, very clean and tidy and cosy! Hosts were very kind. Great price too! Highly recommended!

Rooms are great and good size. Shower are nice and strong. It is close to town. The main road is right there you don't even notice. They are friendly and welcoming and if it gets to loud they sort it out. Love it here

Stayed by default as most other motels were booked. Got the last 2 units both at the front. Not great, lots of road noise with cars whizzing past all night. Room was clean but very dated. Low pressure shower. Bed comfortable. Good size wine glasses. All good for $120 a night

Older motel that has been renovated - very clean and comfortable, We had 2 rooms which was great for the 3 of us. Medium size kitchen so we were able to make some of our own meals to save on costs.

Everything is good except the mattress is too soft... There are a lot of flies and mosquitoes at night, so better not open the windows after you shower. And the ventilation in the bathroom requires improvement.

Wonderful. Based around an older type motel, it couldn't be faulted. It must be recently renovated as was like a brand new complex. Extremely clean with the facilities of a motel. Very comfortable bed, good shower facilities, kitchen with microwave and hob.

I have stayed here before and was impressed with how warm, sunny and clean the unit was. Even though there is a heat pump and it's has been cold we rarely used it. The owners are friendly and helpful.

On arrival, although the man at reception was lovely, we were very disappointed in the room. The unit is very tired and dated, and the child's room remained cold despite the heat pump. The kitchen facilities were poor, and the shower was just awful. When a young niece asked to stay with us we said yes, without thinking that this would incur extra charge. We didn't notice the "$250 for 2 people plus $20 for extra person" but to have to pay $350 for two nights for what is essentially a studio plus small room, and such basic facilities, feels very disappointing especially as it was promoted as a family room. The only positive about the room was it was clean.

We stayed here for two nights. Check-in was okay, not particularly friendly or unfriendly. The room was fine and clean, but it felt frugal. You could tell that they were trying to squeeze more people into the room than the room was designed for and that they were not willing to give any 'extras'. The tone of the notes for guests could use a review for delivery that is more befitting of the hospitality industry...

The Man who checked us in was not very friendly. The shower pressure was terrible just dribbled out and no power point for hair dryer in bathroom.

My wife & I stayed a night here. We were greeted by the friendliest lady with an infectious beaming smile. So lovely! We think this is an older property however everything outside was beautifully clean and tidy including the garden. Inside our room was no different. There was a well appointed kitchen, a very comfortable bed in a separate room. The lighting was good and we had a large table to spread our tourist info on. Plenty of windows to let the daylight in.

Large spacious room, friendly staff/owners, quiet surroundings, well-stocked kitchen with portable stovetop (no cooking of seafood or curries allowed), mattress was very firm & would benefit from extra padding.

Lovely place, short stroll to all you need in Whakatane

My wife and I stayed at the Amber Court Motel for one night. The motel is in a convenient location being only a short drive from city the centre and water front. There was free car parking immediately in front of our room. Our room was a good size. It was spotlessly clean and came fully equipped including free WIFI. The motel is in a very quiet area with plenty of birdsong. We received a very polite and professional welcome and we would definitely stay again when next in Whakatane.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we will be back. Close to town and a short drive to Ohope Beach. Very clean and surprisingly spacious, we felt welcome and enjoyed our stay.

Quiet location with easy parking just outside the unit. It is self contained with full kitchen. Very spacious. The price is reasonable .

General Amber Court is a small, quiet motel just 5 minutes drive from the CBD. Parking for 1 vehicle beside the unit is handy. No extra parking space is available for visitors, but there is room for a few cars beside the (busy) road opposite the motel entrance. Security stays were fitted on some windows (An excellent feature that we have found is not that common). The front door was fitted with a safety chain. An outside table and 2 chairs sit by the front door. The pleasant hosts have established a nice, well tended garden. This is not a luxury motel, but is comfortable and good value for the price. We have stayed here before and liked it enough to return. The kitchen was well equipped, with good bench space. We didn't use the small, two hotplate bench top hob. Cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, glasses were adequate for 4 people. The small fridge was good, as was the kettle. We didn't use the microwave or supplied toaster and very a large electric frypan. The small desk/table and 2 comfortable chairs would be inadequate for the 4 people catered for. The bathroom was small and dated but had a good shower. The usual toiletries were supplied (soap, shampoo) as was a hair dryer (not used), but there was no extraction fan. The bed/sitting room had a firm but comfortable queen size bed, with ample bedding. There was only one bedside lamp, and that didn't work. The roomy 2-seater settee was very comfortable. The separate bedroom had 2 single beds (not used), and 2 bedside lamps (they worked). This room also had ample drawer storage (2 bedside and one medium chest). There was a heat pump/air conditioner (not used), and good lighting throughout the unit. We didn't use the flat screen TV. Free WiFi is available, though we didn't need it this time.

Nice clean rooms with a kitchenette on a quiet street

We felt like we really were on holiday when we stayed at Amber Court. Clean, separate bedroom, kitchen had everything we required. We did miss not having two reading lights. It was nice not to be on a main street but still be very close to town.
