Great breakfast ( included in room rate) eggs on toast with side of bacon and excellent relish.

Dinner was dissapointing. Chef trying too hard, just needs to ease up and simplify the cooking to let the ingedients speak for themselves. A wider selection of chardonnay would be nice

The staff tried really hard to fix the problems. They accepted responsibility for issues and promptly offered some.appropriate compensation.

The place suffers from maintenance issues. The staff tried really hard to resolve them. The fridge was turned off in the room so the milk left for us was lumpy. The fireplaces didnt work, remotes out of battery, gas bottle was not switched on, spa bath in the room switched itself on middle of the night and couldn't be switched off, we ended up having to find the fuse box and find the right fuse to turn it off and that also left us with no hot water. At breakfast time we waited 20 minutes to order and another 45 minutes to receive the food and this was cold. Each of these things on their own minor but together you have to ask whats going on. Final comment js there are lots of pot holes so youre almost 4WDing around the place. I recommend just doing more basic maintenance to the facilities. They are so nice such a shame to have so many things not working.

We had a really disappointing stay and honestly don’t think it was worth the money we paid. The breakfast experience was the biggest letdown. We specifically asked staff if we could order more than one breakfast, and we were told “of course you can.” Halfway through our meal, the manager came over to retract that and informed us it was actually only one order per person, and that we’d be charged extra if we wanted more. To make matters worse, the “big” breakfast was underwhelming to begin with, just egg, toast, and beans, hardly filling for the price. Being told we could order more and then having that reversed mid-meal, with the threat of extra charges, felt inconsistent and frankly disrespectful to guests. The room itself had issues too. The heater’s batteries didn’t work properly, we had to keep taking them out and putting them back in just to get it to function, which was frustrating, especially if you need reliable heating. On top of everything, the road leading to the hotel was genuinely concerning. It’s steep and narrow, with only enough space for one car despite being a two-way street, making it stressful and even dangerous to navigate, especially at night or when passing oncoming traffic. Between the mixed messaging from staff, the poor value for the breakfast, the faulty heater, and the hazardous access road, this stay fell far short of expectations. We wouldn’t return, and we’d think twice before recommending this hotel to others.

Wasnt able to use any of the facilities which was disappointing as there wasnt much to do at all..pool was not heated, our bathtub in the hotel the buttons were not working, tennis court was advertised but it wasnt maintained at all (like mossy and dirty). Beds seem too lumpy and not comfy for me. For the price point and for them advertising it as a luxury place, it was quite a letdown.

The set menu for dinner was average, not very tasty and a bit overpriced for what we got. It was my birthday and I was a bit disappointed that there was no note in the room to wish me a happy birthday and no special plate with dessert saying happy birthday 😔

Bathroom had nice facilities.

The room was not clean. Carpet not vacuumed and dust on everything. Dead bird in the patio.The couch had a stain on it. The heat pump was very noisy. For the room price I expected better. Food and drinks overpriced.

Dinner was nice but a bit overpriced, sauna was decent and bed was comfy.

No tv, bath jets were not working and it says there was a tennis court but was very run down and not in working order.

A beautiful secluded spot, roomy comfortable rooms, friendly service and exceptional food!

I have stayed here a few times now and I still love it - feels like a get away even though you are only an hour from Auckland and 15 minutes from Warkworth. The restaurant food is always good (for breakfast and dinner) and staff are lovely. The rooms have a beautiful fire, large bath and double shower, there’s no TV so feels very cosy

Location with ridge top views and accommodation were comfortable.

On arrival 10 minutes before check-in at 3 we were told we were “early” and had to wait an hour before the room was ready (they were short staffed on account of a conference). After an hour the lovely Monique offered a coffee or drink while we waited, but overall, not a welcoming arrival. At dinner, though nice, it was a bit let down by very ordinary cold rolls and salt and pepper shakers rather than grinders. For the money, it felt more like a cafe approach. The food was nice but unfortunately neither of the two wines that we ordered were available as apparently they were out of stock., even though still on the wine list. The milk in the room fridge had to be returned to reception as it had curdled and out of date.

The rooms were lovely, though some amenities felt a little dated. The main lodge is absolutely stunning. A few menu items, including drinks, were unavailable during our stay, which was disappointing, especially as we were there to celebrate a birthday. Aside from that, the staff were lovely, and the location and views were stunning.

Dinner menu very limited, we managed with bar snacks but quite disappointing considering how remote the location. Found breakfast very disappointing. The rooms were a distance from the main house and given the weather we decided to drive up to the house. The narrow steep and twisty 5km gravel drive to the house should be flagged up more prominently. No TV in the room.

A beautiful location but at the end of a 8 mile gravel narrow road which took us a little by surprise but my oh my what a worthy drive. Luscious grounds and with nature. Beautiful lounges. Superb and kind staff. Excellent food.

The spa bath didn’t work. The patio furniture was dirty and not as hoped and no side table on patio.

Wonderful location and property, food was hugh quality and staff were lovely. Rooms were huge with gorgeous views of the surrounding bush, really comfortable size to relax and spend some time.

We loved the relaxed, welcoming environment, the feeling of simple luxury in a beautiful, private setting, and the friendly, helpful staff - will definitely book it again!

We loved everything - though we've been there a couple of times now and will book our favourite villa in our favourite area next time.

Overall experience was excellent with very polite and attentive staff, with excellent communication, great food and nice peaceful surroundings.

A few small things like broken slats on venetian blinds at entry which spoils first impressions, a few hooks on curtains missing resulting in a drooping curtain. Windows needed a bit of a clean to enhance what are ammazing views. Debris from lawn mowing and leaves if cleared from just around unit would have added just a bit more of a wow factor. Appreciate the time of year but little detail s can sometimes add just an extra dimension to a special location.

We absolutley loved the staff. ALL were big smiles, and happy to have a chat about local places of interest. A massive call out to Tanisha, the General Manager. You and your staff are 2nd to none. You are friendly, helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable of the area. And the young ladies working with you are fantastic too. The room was large with a separate bathroom fitted with THE best shower EVER! ..and a spa bath that WAS NOT working. 😭 Bed and room were super comfortable. BIG tip, it is pricey, but eat at the Lodge restaurant at least once. (The food is 3 course fine dining, and it is deeee vine! And do the breakfast as well. I will recommend Woodhouse Mountain Lodge very strongly.

The spa not working. The carparking. (It is a walk to and from the car to the villa, and it should be noted that it is steep. (Be warned if you are mobility impaired). 5ks of loose metal driving, and tight corners. (Personally, I loved it. But if you are an inexperienced, or not a confident driver,....). Personally, the carpark and the spa are the only reason I can not give this a 10.

Meals were over priced and choices limited. The signage to the property was insufficient and we became lost. Maintenance of lawns and surroundings needed attention. The spa bath and coffee machine didn't work.

No hand towels in room (bathroom) and the bath lights went all night changing colour and could be seen from the bed. Need instructions for using the bath…

The premises was not maintained and the rooms was dirty with spider webs everywhere. Too pay $579 per night you would expect this place would be maintained. The grass around the pool wasn't even mowed. The outdoor furniture was broken aswell.

We had a lovely stay at Woodhouse Mountain Lodge. We enjoyed the somewhat remote location, though still handy enough to town, and the relaxed vibe it offered. We would definitely like to stay here again.

This property is absolutely magical! The most scenic gorgeous views paired with lovely staff. We had the most amazing stay and would love to return.

The property was stunning. The rooms were comfortable and an element of luxury for the stay.

Even though they had a restaurant it would have been handy to have a couple of plates or bowls in the rooms. Only had glasses and cups.

Loved how secluded it was, felt like a retreat. Facilities were clean, staff were so friendly, loved all the fire places and how cosy it felt. The ease of having payments charged to the villa rather than paying each time you order something just made the experience even better. We will definitely be back, loved every minute!
