Restaurant was nice and friendly

Rooms were unclean, dirt on curtains, carpet full of stains, mould round the shower, paint work chipped or over pained

Unfortunately we' had people in the room next to us who didn't take any notice of the quiet time requirements and were extremely noisy until 4am.

Ample car parking close to rooms ( need to register at reception) Friendly staff. Good value food.

Wednesday nights are local quiz nights, so very busy between 5.30pm-7.30pm for food etc, best reserve a table for that night. Plenty of tables free when quiz starts in another room.

Clean room and comfortable bed. The meals in the hungry horse were good with a wide variety of choice and good value for money. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The rooms are in need of updating. Black silicon around the bath. Peeling paint on the radiator. Panelling coming away from the wall in bedroom. All of these things could be fixed quickly and cheaply.

Strange smell in room. Panelling had stains. Damp feel.

Bathroom shabby n dated. Felt grubby even thought it had been cleaned. Poor flush on toilet smelt or urine. No cold water on bath or shower taps...n hot water only passable temperature. Cobweb in bedroom. Stains on pillows no pillow protectors. Stains on duvet and on mattress protector.

The breakfast was okay and good value for the money. The set up was hard work. Had to keep asking for a mug (not on tables or side) Drink containers on table always empty

Service. Slow, awkward

Comfortable and clean. Close to nearby festival that we were attending. Our cleaning lady made sure we had everything we needed. Free parking included.

This is our second stay but there is never enough staff for checking in or in the restaurant in the mornings. Buffet breakfast choices are very limited (we had to ask for fruit as only apples available) no 'healthy' cereals etc.

Chalets make loading luggage much easier than regular hotels. Restaurant on site saves time getting dinner.

Door to the room was hard to close. We returned to find the cleaner had left it open with all of our belongings in there.

Standardised setup room by room

The fact we didn’t need to check out till 11am but house keeping woke us up at 8:30 and 9:30 on a Sunday morning to check if we had left the room, even entered the room on the second occasion whilst we were in bed sleeping. As parents, going away for a child free night with the option the sleep in, we were not impressed by being woken up when there was no reason to. Check out is 11am, not pester us from 8:30 onwards until we just decided to leave. Good stay, but morning after ruined the stay.

Room was clean and comfortable, bed was clean and comfortable and breakfast was more than ample, good value and tasty.

It was very hot the service was on occasions slow some staff seemed to be disorganised some breakfast facilities were not in place when breakfast was served.

It was so great stay - room very specious, bed comfortable, separate entrance, car behind doors and very dog friendly. Nice food for good price. We definitely will be back if we are in this area!

For some reason, there was no hot water, but as outside was very hot, we didn't complain but were fine with cold water too.

am writing to express my disappointment regarding the condition of Room 24 during our two-night stay at The Charnwood Arms, Coalville, on 25th and 26th June. Unfortunately, the room was in an unacceptable state and fell far below the standard I would expect from a Greene King Inn. During our stay in Room 24, we found: * Extensive black mould growing across the ceiling and into the corner of the room. * Severe mould and signs of water damage around the window and windowsill. * Large cracks running down the wall, making the room appear poorly maintained. * Dirty and marked walls throughout the room. * A spider on the wall, adding to the impression that the room had not been properly cleaned. * A bathroom that was not cleaned to an acceptable standard. The toilet was dirty, and there was extensive black mould around the bathroom sealant, which made the bathroom appear unhygienic and unpleasant to use. The amount of mould throughout the room and bathroom was particularly concerning, not only because it was unsightly but because it poses a potential health risk. The room felt damp, unclean, and uncomfortable throughout our stay. We chose The Charnwood Arms expecting a clean, comfortable room and were extremely disappointed by what we encountered. The condition of Room 24 did not reflect the standards that Greene King advertises, and we do not believe the room should have been made available to guests in its current condition. I have photographs documenting the issues, which clearly show the poor condition of the room and bathroom, and I would be happy to provide them if required. Given the circumstances, I would appreciate an explanation as to how Room 24 was considered suitable for guests and what steps you intend to take to address these issues. As we stayed for two nights, I believe it is reasonable to request appropriate compensation or a refund for an experience that fell well below the standard expected.

There is a wedding venue on site (I didn't know this) so when that finished must have been 11.45pm the party continued around the rooms. It sounded like they were also playing football! Not the restful stay I was hoping for. I would not have booked a room if I had known.

The 80/90s event that we came to

The room smelled really bad. The carpet was wet in one are where it had tried to be cleaned - maybe why the room smelled so badly. Came for breakfast one morning and was told by one member of staff we would use the small hotel menu, so chose a bacon butty and scrambled egg on toast (should have been 4.99 each but we're charged 13.48). We got a breakfast roll instead of just bacon and the scrambled eggs were overcooked, with undercooked toast 🤢🤢🤢 Spoke to staff about what we'd been charged - given a really confusing response, made no sense whatsoever. Over charged for terrible food!

The shower was stuck on hot and it took 3 members of staff to fix it. The hotel was fully booked so I'm not sure what would have happened if it couldn't be fixed.

We were only given one bath towel for 2 of us, only noticed when wet in the shower! Also only one cup for drinks.

Jackie on the hotel reception was amazing. So super helpful, went above and beyond to help us with an earlier check in. She was just great.

The shower temperature was scolding and could not be changed. It meant that unfortunately we were not able to use the shower during our stay.

The room we had no 20 stunk of smoke, I had to was all my clothes when I got home, there was a old razor in the bathroom and the milk was off

Room was adequate but tired - was aware of this prior to arriving from other reviews therefore this was not a suprise.

The bar was on two levels with the reception on the bottom level. Staff would see is, but it seemed to me they had a “that’s not my job attitude” As we would be ignored, for example by bar staff, who would not let others whose job it was, know that we were waiting to be seen. Likewise when we came for breakfast and we’re waiting in the “wait to be seated area” Bar staff walked through ignored us, and again didn’t let anyone know we were waiting to be seated, and I had to hunt to find someone to seat us. One of our friends who was also staying at the same hotel, ordered the cooked breakfast but it was forgotten about. Others who ordered after him got served theirs. In the end he left without having breakfast. I couldn’t get the water to run cold from the tap in the room. There was only one cup provided for making a drink in the double room.

The evening meal we paid for was good but breakfast was disappointing the Internet was a joke the room was really poor and in need of a up grade tape on carpet bed very small and very hard tv could do with being moved as the only place to watch it is on the bed poor loo flush unable to just turn bathroom lights on without room lights coming on noise all day and night from something behind the room or somewhere else only one cup and glass and only one of each coffee tea sugar and milk much much more i can say but ive given up

Easy access to motorway

Rooms could do with a bit of tlc, skirting boards in bathroom where rotten. Grass outside chalet was overgrown and untidy. Long wait of 40 minutes for breakfast

Able to park my car immediately outside my room/chalet which was a good size with a very comfortable bed and all the essential 'extras' - decent TV, kettle, lots of sockets both at the dressing table and close to the bed (latter great for keeping the phone nearby while charging). Clean bathroom with lots of the 'right sort' (large) of towels. Shower super powerful.
