Loved the spa but the sauna and steam weren't very hot.
Good spa facilities Nice bathroom with large shower in room
Bed was two pushed together
Comfy bed
TV poor, tea tray minimal, tiles in bathroom could do with good clean. No hotel information or area info in room. Long corridors and heavy doors to negotiate to get to room. Only 1 night stay, no food so can't comment.
Spa pool Rooms super sound proof Guinness at the bar Nice gardens
Only three hours allowed in the spa on one day either on arrival or day you leave Restaurant food expensive but mediocre
It is, las always, a fabulous stay
spa facilities, ev charging

Staff
Offering a room equipped with all the necessary facilities for people with disabilities, without any specific details regarding this on the booking. When there are events, there should be some restrictions for those people, or perhaps you should stop accepting guests who are not part of the group. It is very stressful for those of us who want to relax and have a quiet night, but because those people were drinking alcohol and making a lot of noise, we had to leave the property in the middle of the night. But when there are no events taking place, the property is simply marvellous.
The Spa was okay, restaurant staff were lovely
When we arrived the staff were quick to shove a load of T&C in our face which instantly put us on edge. I'll be honest I cannot be bother to be specific but there was a tense vibe after this about being there as we felt like we were walking on egg shells. I know this is in the description but I find it weird that they take a £100 deposit in case of damages, never had that before. They had me read the details out so everyone could hear which I didnt like so I instantly froze the card because who knows what could happen. Also had a sign a waiver to take our food from the hotel back to the room, also never had to do that. Loads of signs everywhere trying to protect themselves from a lawsuit like "the floor gets slippery when wet, be careful" and "keep fingers and limbs out of the way when the door is closing" didnt make for a relaxing stay in our room.
The pool
It’s really hard but loved everything the only thing I’d say was the 3rd your allocated for the pool has to be taken together, I wish we could of gone again in the morning.
Good breakfast range, clean rooms and friendly, helpful staff.
Excellent evening meal in the restaurant.. beautiful food
Nothing!
Garden spa is stunning, comfortable room with everything we needed for our stay
Lovely rooms. Staff very helpful. Near to our destination Loved the pool
You tell us there was a wedding every night
We have stayed here a couple times and it’s been 10/10 experience both times. Friendly staff, so clean, spa facilities and staff are amazing, Sandra in the spa even remembered us from last time, that was a lovely touch and made the experience even more personable
Nice room.
Na.
The evening meal was prepared with real professional skill. The Spa receptionist was so helpful and friendly and the bar and restaurant staff really made you feel welcome.
Difficult to criticise, maybe adjust the price break down a little bit??
Really enjoyed my stay convenient location with beautiful grounds, rooms are lovely and big staff was very accommodating, helpful and cheerful
Sauna and steam room, not very effective, overall a little bit pricey
Comfy and very beautiful
Room was very hot and fan didn’t work
The location and the comfort of the room. The hydrotherapy pool was perfect for my spinal condition, I really enjoyed being outside in it. It was a really quiet and peaceful stay and the staff were friendly.
The only thing I can think of it that the room was so hot, there was a fan, which I was grateful for, but it was blowing hot air.
Lovely setting felt very personal and loved the spa. Also we loved the card for our anniversary. It was much appreciated 👍
I think the entrance can be a little hard to find and could be clearer shown
Room was clean, staff were friendly and helpful (particularly in the spa and the restaurant).
There could be better signage for finding rooms (it is a bit of a maze at times). There could also be information in the rooms about spa opening times and restaurant opening times - I had to go down to reception to understand everything.
It was alright
The staff
We attended a wedding which was lovely, the food was good and served hot. Staff friendly. Venue was very nice.
The bedroom was extremely hot, they provided a fan which showed the temperature of 32% degrees during the night. Unfortunately we could not open the windows as they were fixed. The shower was stuck on hot… this was fixed quickly. In the morning about 7am a lorry delivering food/drink was parked under our room, he left his engine running the whole time he was there, about 25 minutes. The was the end to a very uncomfortable night. So we left shortly afterwards.
The character and the spa and spa staff
The hotel staff were rude and very unprofessional
Very nice hotel
Fantastic place with ample luxuries. Food was ok, air con was exceptional. Spa was lovely too.
Really friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location, lots of outdoor tables and chairs.
The tea/coffee maker at breakfast.
Everything was perfect !
We were there because of a wedding. The staff were all very helpful and polite. Room was clean and bed was comfy . Breakfast was very nice and plenty of it.
Air-conditioned unit in room wasn't working although we had a fan was still very warm. Apart from that it was fine.
Sadly, we would not stay here again. The room was the best part of our stay. It was big, comfy bed, and great Aircon. The bathroom was spotless and included a free standing bath. Robes and slippers were included. The outside grounds were standard, bar service was fine.. We used the complimentary spa, the pool and sun loungers were lonely. Unfortunately the spa treatment I had booked was not so good. I had reserved a 4.30 slot for a 30 minute massage. I didn't get into the appointment till 4.55 this was after asking for a refund. I had been waiting since 4.20 as you are expected to be ready 10 mins before treatment. The Spa reception team were hugely apologetic they were extremely busy with a big party in, but I felt disappointed that no one had just explained that there would be a wait for that length of time they firstly kept telling me just to go to the relaxation area, which was so hot it was uncomfortable to wait. The massage was good, but the experience of the spa was disappointing.. Onto the evening meal we had a reservation at 7pm upon arrival we were told due to the extreme heat the full menu was not available. Only, nibbles, starters, sides sharing platters and 3 main dishes. Disappointing, but nothing we could do about it. We had the sharing platter and it was lovely. The waiting staff were great but, the water we had for the table was 5.10 a bottle we had 2, we probably should have checked before ordering but, wow that was just unbelievably expensive. Over all it was an OK stay, but with the issues we just would not return.
The building is a little tired and losing some kudos with some colleagues.
I have stayed here 3 times now and the rooms are always of a good size with stunning bathrooms. Bar is reasonable and the breakfasts are pretty good although a buffet style.
My room this time had windows to two aspects but on one side they went down to the floor directly to the side of the bed meaning the blind had be down at all times as it overlooked the carpark. However for one night that is being a little picky.
Beautiful grounds. Lovely stonework. Outdoor grounds were incredible.
The steam room/ sauna weren’t hot. The advertised ‘ice dip’ was a bath of tepid water. The staff were all very young with no sign of a manager in site. They were pleasant but didn’t have much initiative and could have done with some support as there was a wedding on the night we stayed and they were understaffed to deal with the capacity. Breakfast was quite basic. No fresh orange juice and had to serve your own tea and coffee. Not sure I would stay again for the price.
The outdoor spa area was very quiet and relaxing
The stairs were a bit uneven and in need of a repair but as rest of hotel and staff were nice it wasn’t too much of an issue
Staff were very helpful and friendly
Good menu was very bland for what is supposed to be a four star hotel
Loved the size of the room and the bar and spa
Room 10 was very dusty around the fireplace area and the windows need a good clean
All of it especially the spa
Bathroom was a little tired and would have been nice to have bigger bottles of water in the room
Use this Hotel each time we visit family and the rooms are lovely.
Nothing to comment
Lovely room even though was very small and up a steep set of stairs the AC was so welcome on a hot day The out door spa pool was lovely Evening meal was absolutely amazing All the staff were lovely Can't wait to go back
The small room Was bit crampt
Went for the spa day. Facilities looking tired and in need of some tlc. Fences surrounding spa facilities broken and tatty. A bath filled with dead insects and tepid water stood alone for whatever use I’m unsure. Sauna looked like a dilapidated shed. Really not worth the money at all. Very disappointing
We had our wedding here on 02/08/26, it was truly the most wonderful day! From our first ever meeting to the actual day nothing was too much bother for Naomi, she helped us every step of the way to ensure our day was perfect. All the staff on the day were incredible on the day and everything ran smoothly, alongside Naomi we had Alan as our toastmaster and he was very attentive, he kept the timings of the day running to plan to ensure we didn’t have to worry about anything! We truly had the best day of our lives and are so glad we chose Barton Hall as our venue! Thank you for giving us a day we will never forget! Amelia & Kayleigh x
I have stayed there 3 times always good, but this time was really disappointed. No cold water in the room even the toilet was hot water.?? the other thing was i booked a table for me and 2 customers and the guy kept asking me to pay i told him 3 times i have a tab, i felt he thought we were going to do a runner and not pay it was not good in front of my customers we have never had this before. i told him 3 times they have my card details behind the counter, my customers could not believe how rude he was. i don't like complaining but felt i should do something about it. We have our own business and employ over 60 people would not like to think our staff would treat customers like this.
Air conditioning in the room
Booked this hotel to stay with my Daughter whilst visiting friends locally & was influenced by other reviews boasting spacious rooms & beautiful views of the landscaped gardens. Whilst I can’t comment on all rooms, I can assure you room number 17 will not delight you with either of these. What you will get from this gem of a room is a noisy bathroom fan, a leaking air con unit, a small double bed, no charging points by the beds, an ironing board propped randomly up against the wall (as the wardrobe is too small to accommodate it & any item of clothing larger than a shirt) & a view of the car park, road & traffic lights opposite. Room 17 is also without doubt the smallest hotel room I have stayed in. Nestled in the attic, we felt like characters from a Victorian novel, hidden away from the rest of the family. I was just thankful that I was there with my Daughter & not my husband, as I swear it was like Jenga in the morning to get ready. There was also a suspicious looking stain, proudly covering a wall in the bathroom & one of the mugs provided for tea & coffee had a parting gift from the previous resident - a lipstick mark & dirty coffee stain in the bottom. The broken air con unit meant that we had to sleep with the window open all night, which meant that we actually got no sleep until most of the wedding guests (there was a very large wedding taking place ) had left the premises, said their goodbyes, told each other they loved each other & got into their cars/cabs. It was fun! I should have known that things were not going to be great from the start. When we arrived to check into the hotel, because of the wedding, there was absolutely no where to park. Guests were double parking & waiting for other cars (I think they were Day Spa guest) to leave so that they could park. There were about 10 empty Tesla charging points empty, but they did provide good space to turn around in at least. After waiting for ages, I left my car beside a bush & ran I to reception (which is very underwhelming) & asked what I should do. After being informed that I should “move the cone in the corner & go into the overflow car park” the receptionist did come outside & try to help. We settled on leaving my car where it was, which was good, as by now I was seriously considering just calling it a day & driving the 2 hours home & I hadn’t even seen the room yet! I was asked if I had enjoyed my stay when I checked out & I voiced my concerns to the receptionist. She seemed totally unbothered & said that I should email my feedback to the email address on the card that she gave me. I did this 4 days ago & I haven’t had a response (except a generic holding email) so customer service is also severely lacking. In summary, this hotel could be nice but it isn’t & they really don’t care that it’s not. They’ve tried to squeeze too many rooms into a lovely old building to maximise revenue. Room 17 would make a lovely store room or broom cupboard & get rid of some of those Tesla charging points.
Beautiful room, spacious and a lovely bathroom with great views of the grounds. Spa was ok, pool being the main feature, sauna was poor same as the steam room where seated area is tiled and tiles Missing and broken (looked run down). Food was good, excellent lamb shank, mediocre dessert. Service was good too. Very nice lady on reception when we left, extremely happy/professional. Very impressed with her manner, in fact the best we've ever encountered in all our trips. Shame I can't remember her name to praise her.
Thought £15 pp for breakfast was madness for the standard and variety of food, all the hot food was warm at best, eggs were just warm. Bacon was like cardboard. Definitely not worth the money and we were both very disappointed. Also had a wedding going on and the bar was directly underneath our room, the noise did lower about 10:30pm so that was ok. Also thought it would have been nice if you could have used the spa just for a hour the next morning before leaving but you can't, even though it's open??
The outside pool was lovely staff was very nice and friendly and the room was lovely overall a pleasant stay.
The restaurant closes early in the evening so we had to go into Kettering town and get food.
What an incredible boutique hotel. Same standards as their larger sister hotel Rushton hall. Loved staying here, ideal for a special occasion. Will definitely be back.
Barton Hall. You are all amazing. We had our wedding ceremony there on Tuesday 28th,July, 2026,and it was fabulous. Nothing was to much trouble for the team and they were all incredibly kind and friendly. A special mention must go out to Naomi and Shelly. Two very special ladies. A wonderful day and so many memories to cherish. Thank you Barton Hall. X Chris.
We visited Barton Hall to attend a party, staying for one night on a Saturday. The hotel sits in a handsome building with lovely gardens surrounding it. We arrived at reception and the two staff members were talking to each other (about a work related issue) and we stood there for about 3 minutes before they even acknowledged us. We don’t expect to be tended too straight away but you should always acknowledge a guess even if it’s just to say we will be with you in a minute. When they finally came to us, the check in process was far from smooth, taking about 15 minutes (despite filling in the express checking form online before arrival)! We were told in quite an abrupt was we had booked on one site rather than another (which wasn’t the case). There was another couple arriving at the same time, experiencing the same issues. The staff were not bad, they were simply untrained in the basics of hospitality. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I wouldn’t call it luxurious but for the price paid (£120) per night it was good value for what you get. The food at the event we went to was of a food standard and the waiting staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is only served for a 2 hour window which isn’t ideal either! To conclude, this hotel really needs to put some time and effort into hospitality training of the staff. If they do, they will have a much better product.
Just beautiful
Nothing really within walking distance but you don’t go there to vacate on foot!
Great breakfast
Lovely room with gorgeous view and excellent staff. Felicity was so helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Brilliant customer service, we can't thank her enough. 10/10. Booked to return very soon.
Nothing - lovely place to stay.
Outdoor spar area.
Steam room was scalding far too hot. Drinks 🥤 a bit expensive.
We had the absolute pleasure of attending a garden spa day at this wonderful venue a few weekends back and it was simply perfect. The venue is gorgeous and the two course lunch was so tasty and aesthetically pleasing we both gave it a 5 star. The facilities were wonderful with a steam room, sauna, cold bath and our favourite a hydrotherapy pool, all surrounded by sun beds in a relaxing, peaceful garden courtyard setting. Everywhere was so well looked after and clean. The staff were amazing and in particular Sandra Fredricks who really stood out! Nothing was too much trouble for her and you could tell she really enjoyed her role there and made every guests experience that extra bit special with her personal warm touch. We were just so impressed by this venue and staff that we will be regular visitors and are even considering booking our wedding there!
food and staff in restaurant were great and really helpful
I was allocated a room on ground floor, no air-con and a very noisy fan. Also, being on my own on the ground floor, I didn't feel comfortable having the window open. I would be cautious about staying again...I also think the reception staff should not say you're room number out lous in front of other guests, just write on a card. For safety purposes.
Setting, lovely gardens, beautiful old building and well decorated and furnished in the communal areas. Receprion staff, helpful amd friendly.. Loved tje garden spa area and the fact that you could get a drink there.
Breakfast was only served till 9am and it wasnt replenished with fresh items.
Nice venue nice staff great food
After I booked I was notified we couldn’t use the spa on check in as a hen do was on so we couldn’t use only go 9-11 also the time we needed to have breakfast and check out so not ideal as we’d wanted to relax and unwind after a long days travel also the spa area looked a bit run down and untidy
Bed was comfortable
The fact that we saw the staff chasing a rat was a bit off putting
Clean well equipped polite staff excellent food
I was very disappointed to be treated as a non existent customer when it came to using the bar service I tried to charge my drinks to my room but I was abruptly told unless I had paid a bar retention of £150 at reception we could not charge the drinks how ever working parties who were staying at the hotel had no problem charging to their rooms very discriminating. We ate there both nights spending at least £400 in total so I will seriously think hard before booking the hotel again there policy needs clarification before taking bookings.
Lovely hotel close to the centre of Kettering. Great location close to the A14. A period property, beautifully restored. The onsite Spa has a very large spa pool along with a steam room and sauna (no swimming pool). We had a standard double room booked via the website for £100 (room only), which exceeded our expectations. Large bathroom with walk-in rain shower. As hotel residents we had a 3 hour window to use the spa which was great. Didn't dine or breakfast at the hotel due to other plans but it all looked good. Highly recommended.
Loverly accommodation clean well staffed with an outstanding restaurant . I have visited this establishment many times over the last few years I was most put out this time being asked to supply a deposit of £150 to reception in order to have drinks from the bar charged to my room when I challenged this policy I was informed if I was travelling for a company this did not apply. This policy discriminates between travellers spending good money and the special treatment being shown to company employees staying at the venue. Over our two night stay we supported the restaurant extremely well financially so I’m totally aggrieved by the discrimination shown to us and other guests.
The location was good
Room was facing the loading area so was awake from 6am with coming and going of deliveries. Trucks left running outside the window as I was on the bottom floor, there must have been an event also as the inside noise of staff started around 7am, conditions were very warm and because of the outside noise you couldn’t open a window. Fan in the room wasn’t really much addition. I would stay here again, but would look for a quiet room. Got very little sleep and was only staying one night so didn’t make a great impression.
Went to The Garden Spa for the afternoon 13:30 - 19:30. Disappointingly the do not serve food in the garden spa, the only thing available was a packet of crisps or a sickly sundae and drinks. If we'd have known this we would have arrived at 12 and had lunch in the hotel beforehand. It may be useful to say this on the website Having said all that the treatment was lovely, the sun shone and we had a very relaxed afternoon laying by the pool
An exceptional spa experience. The Garden Spa is beautiful, facilities luxurious and very tranquil and beautifully maintained surroundings. Staff were warm and professional. Our lunch afterwards was also excellent and Ethan took great care of us. A fabulous experience all round. We will certainly be back!
Handy location, free parking
No air con in bedroom, small windows with no view, ran out of food at breakfast, restaurant space was messy, nowhere to have a business call quietly except in bedroom which was 35 degrees celsius! Staff mostly unfriendly and unhelpful.
The garden spa and the staff
Bedroom was quite small but okay for just one.,
Nice surroundings and location
No a/c in the bedroom - shower & sink wasnt very clean
Everything
Nothing
The hotel was a lovely setting and was convenient for where we were filming. Good that they had tesla superchargers too. We rooms overlooked the spa and were really really warm on check in. Stifling hot in fact, the bathroom was even warmer. The air conditioner units seemed to turn themselves off in the night and go on and off constantly making loud noises so I didn't get much sleep. Other than that the hotel was lovely, settings lovely and the outdoor spa was great.
As above the rooms were really really warm on check in. Stifling hot in fact, the bathroom was even warmer. The air conditioner units seemed to turn themselves off in the night and go on and off constantly making loud noises so I didn't get much sleep.
I had a lovely stay at Barton Hall Hotel. It’s a beautiful old hotel set within stunning grounds, making it a really peaceful place to relax. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and efficient, and I had no issues throughout my stay. My room was spacious, clean and equipped with air conditioning, which was a lifesaver during the heatwave. The spa is a real asset to the hotel. It’s beautifully presented and a wonderful place to unwind. The only slight disappointment was that spa treatments aren’t available until Thursdays. My friend had hoped to book a treatment during our stay but unfortunately wasn’t able to. Lovely lady in the spa, shout out to you. We ate in The Vines restaurant. The menu is fairly limited, particularly for vegetarians, although the staff were happy to adapt a salad to suit my friend, which was appreciated. The food is a little on the expensive side, but what we ordered was well presented and tasted lovely. The location is also a real highlight. We found a beautiful riverside walk nearby, which was the perfect way to spend a relaxing afternoon. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. With lovely surroundings, comfortable rooms, excellent staff and a fantastic spa, I’d happily return.
Limited food options specially for summer. Price of food a little too pricey for staying a few days.
Perfect hotel
We stayed at their sister hotel prior to visiting Barton Hall. Therefore we were perhaps a little surprised at the big difference. That said, we had a comfortable stay. The staff are delightful; a real asset to the hotel. The room - a standard double - was fine. The air conditioning in the bedroom was effective although there was little natural light as the tiny window overlooked the outdoor pool. The bathroom was very hot! We had lunch, dinner and breakfast in the Lawns restaurant and the food was good. I abhor the recent trend of providing tea and coffee at breakfast from a machine. These do not make good beverages! I treated myself to a back massage and facial in the spa, which was excellent. However, the relaxation room wasn’t very relaxing. Beanbags on the floor are not great for older people and it was very bright. What made the stay so enjoyable was indubitably the staff!
We wanted an overnight stop halfway to our home from Essex. The hotel is very pleasant. I guess if we hadn’t stayed at their sister hotel on the way down we’d have been more impressed. Our room was fine and the air conditioning in the bedroom was good. The bathroom was very warm!! The staff are an absolute stand out of this hotel - friendly, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed chatting to the lovely girls in the bar and restaurant. Great food too! Breakfast was hit and miss. A nasty tea/coffee machine which makes neither very well. Bain maries didn’t keep food hot.
The awful tea/coffee machine! I don’t know why they can’t make fresh beverages at breakfast.
Nice setting and decor
No air conditioning
Very friendly and helpful staff. Spa is great.
Absolutely brilliant
Beautiful historic hotel complex, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, good English breakfast, nice and clean spa, sufficient parking lots, especially with chargers (Tesla)
Dinner could have been better, and the room lacked small items such as coat hangers, etc.
Property is stunning and in a great location.
The rooms can be hot on the extra warm days due to old building
It was beautiful
The room wasn’t designed for tall people with the sloping ceiling and the low set shower.
The spa and room
Nothing
Great find, nice atmosphere and ample parking. Shout to the lad behind the bar. I think his name was Harry for Accommodating my ice request and prompt service in this heat.
The service is bad. The member of staff served others before us and the same thing happened when we were waiting to order our meals. When the food came it was not freshly made and appeared to be ready made frozen food. That should not be the case in relation the price. Not value for money. The drinks were watered down. Very disappointing, i would never go there again!
Lovely room with gorgeous sash windows and the view from Room 4 was perfect. Great breakfast choice, friendly staff. Already booked to return. Highly recommended. 10/10.
Nothing.
We visit quite frequently as we love to use the spa
Nothing
Hotel is modern & well equipped but maintained the grand stately home feel. Room 10 was huge with comfortable bed and towels, robes & slippers provided. We used the spa which 3 hour complimentary visit is included in price of the room. Spa area includes sauna, steam room, cold bucket & a lovely hot tub/spa. There is a cafe/bar for drinks etc. enjoyed a couple of G&Ts in the sun on a deck chair. Food in restaurant was nice for dinner and good choice on the wine list. Breakfast was £15 pp and there was plenty of choice.
Restaurant was good, good choices, great staff
High standard of accommodation, very friendly and professional staff, decent food and a good price.

The outdoor spa area was so lovely, very clean and tranquil in the sunshine. Our room was a good size with coffee/tea and biscuits. Bed was very comfortable! Staff were all friendly and helpful
Room was dark and dingy
Very friendly staff. Spa area is beautiful. Large, comfy room. Great breakfast. Would stay again.
Lovely atmosphere
Was a little dirty
Very comfortable bed, good quality pillows and linen, fan available as room was very warm, very quiet, beautiful hotel and grounds Polite efficient staff in hotel **Spa Mangeress and her staff in particular provided exceptional service!!!! Lovey welcome & special thanks to Joanna for her exceptional service throughout our stay.
Food very good. Parking easy and convenient. Quirky individual rooms and great outdoor spa complex. Staff very helpful.
Good size bedroom albeit lacking some comforts and art!
The fire alarm at 12:45am. The management didn’t seem organised. No idea who the fire officer was. Eventually an attempt at a roll-call of guests was taken. 45 minutes sitting in the cool evening while someone was being called to turn off and reset the alarm.
Lovely garden terrace and outdoor hydro pool in the spa area.
First room unbearably hot. Had to change rooms. Both rooms cleaned but decor dated and tired.
Was a perfect stay, everything was great
No air con
Location and spa facilities were great, AC in room was also much appreciated
beautiful room and fantastic view from the bedroom
breakfast. we got in the restaurant at 9.45 and breakfast is served till ten. Unfortunately, there were no hot plates and what food was left was cold.
