Fenix Beach Cartagena

La playa es espectacular

Todo me gustò

It was quite clean

Very bad price/quality ratio. The room did not correspond to photos.

Great bedroom, really comfortable and clean The beach and swimming pool had great infrastructure There is a room with games, so quite fun Great breakfast, a little big but tasty

The food could be tastier, considering you can only eat on the island The alternative tours on the island are not great and really expensive

The photos really don’t do this property justice. It’s much larger than it looks online, with so many beautiful spaces and areas that aren’t shown on the main listing. Our room was huge, the bed was very comfortable, and service on the beach was consistently prompt. Some of the food was amazing, especially the seafood pasta and pistachio ice cream. The complimentary boat shuttle into Cartagena was also a great touch. They even hosted a lunar eclipse bonfire during our stay, which was such a memorable experience. Sam from Guest Services was amazing — extremely responsive and helpful throughout our stay. And cabanas are in abundance!

Our room incorporated a large tree and was essentially partially open-air, which looked beautiful but also meant critters could get inside. Our keycards also repeatedly demagnetized. Beach towels are available by request, but a self-service towel station would be much more convenient. The biggest issue is that there is no shop on the island for basic essentials. We needed things like toothpaste and sunscreen and had no way to buy them without going back into Cartagena. Water at the hotel is also quite expensive, so I’d strongly recommend stocking up on water and essentials before taking the boat over.

Friendly staff and a good location. Easy organisation of transport. Fair rooms for the price. Good bar.

For the amount of money paid the breakfast was disappointing. Very limited options and small portions. The breakfast location was suboptimal, not enough shade and many small bugs. The rooms, though clean, are in dire need of upgrade and maintenance.

Proximity to Cartagena and friendly staff

Breakfast was disappointing, only OK option was “criollo”

Everything! The location, breathtaking views, beautiful Villa 2 with its private pool, the food, activities and, above all, the exceptional service. Wallis, Lida and Julian made my family and me feel truly at home. We were especially impressed by how attentive they were to every detail, even after we returned home.

Honestly, there is nothing to complain about. Our stay was excellent from beginning to end. If anything, we just wish we could have stayed longer!

Amazing beach, few minutes from Cartagena. The energy of the hotel is great and relaxing ! Great light at sunset ! 🌅 The pool is incredible, surrounded by trees and birds. The breakfast vibe is great with music. Few staff members are outstanding especially Jacob for excursions is incredible and Samuel. The evening vibe at the fire place, last night was a great ritual My bungalow was great !

The breakfast is very light. One course and few fruits... my cereals were empty bowl ! Restaurant at lunch and night are long waiting ( 45 mn one hour) The water sea is not clear and what I expected ! Go to Pao Pao for excursion ! It's amazing

Stanza molto basic con condizionatore vecchio e molto rumoroso; servizio sempre molto molto lento e approssimativo; tutto molto costoso senza senso. Mare brutto!

We had villa 1, it was really nice, private pool and Great bedrooms.

The restaurant area looks older and unkept so we decide to have dinner delivered

Podia haver algumas pausas... Agua do.chuveiro pouco quente ou quase fria

The staff’s manager spoke English well, the employees were friendly and happy to help.

The beach needs a clean up. The hotel, especially bathrooms need renovation. Food was below average and the breakfast was awful.

The location is easy from Cartagena - a short boat ride from the mainland port over to the island of approx. 20 minutes - making it possible to travel back and forth to Cartagena should you want to. This was not necessary for us, as were already staying in Cartagena before and after this stay, and we chose to come over to Tierra Bomba for a couple of days.

The hotel is very tired, and needs a lot of maintenance to bring it up to the same standard as the photos on Booking.com. Our hotel rooms were very basic, with lots of things that required fixing or just good cleaning ie. the windows hidden behind blinds in our rooms revealed themselves to have a lot of dirt and mold on them when the blind was pulled up; the extremely small bathroom had things half-hanging off the walls, and under-sink cupboard was hanging off; the 'desk' area was so wobbly that when I was working on my laptop at the desk everything shook and swayed, including the 'wardrobe' which was attached to it! On the beach area, the floor mattress loungers all had rips and tears in them, and so did the beach towels we were given - although on the first day we were there we were told there were no more towels for us (but we'd been asked not to remove the towels from the bedrooms as there would be towels down on the beach!). The pool area is tired and needs a refurb and clean up. Food was OK - although some things were ordered were clearly not high quality: daughter ordered a pizza which was clearly straight from the freezer. The lady manager does her best to be as welcoming and accommodating as she can be, but she can't fix all these things herself. It feels like it needs a fair amount of money put into this resort to bring it up to the standard it should be.

Difficult to say one thing we like.

Horrible place to stay. We left one day before. First the place is not nice as the photos. The higiene conditions were terrible: the room was full of cucarachas, the moment you were eating anything would come thousands of bow flies around you was disgusting. You can’t walk in the beach much, once the beach beds finish is full of trash. They trick you with so many taxes saying in a first moment that you are obligated to pay and after once you question, they suddenly say it’s not. Service is paralytic. The beach beds are incredibly dirty, they don’t clean since ages. Amenities of the room described on booking didn’t exist. When we arrived there was no towels and we had to beg for hours to get it. We both got stomach problems with the food that we couldn’t even had dinner any day we were there.

Instalaciones

El desayuno

The private villa was amazing, perfect for a couple - quiet, comfortable and the swimming pool was a great addition. Room service staff was lovely, the food was really good too The beach is great, great music, the view is amazing and plenty of space

The check-in / check out process is a little bit painful

Perfect location for a large group travelling together including children. Great atmosphere and music. Food really good, too considering this is a three star place.

The sea isn’t clean.

Great place to relax for a few days

Really needs an on site shop to buy things like water. The service was at times slow. We organised a special dinner and were effectively forgotten about. Our drinks took 30 mins to come and only came after being prompted. We also had to chase to order a dessert. Disappointing considering we’d paid for a special beach side table and were celebrating a birthday.

I liked the places, closed to the beach

Food was very good

There is a lot of mosquitos all over the place, they should focus on this since this issue is very annoying even in the restaurants when having breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay at Fenix. It’s close to the mainland, the staff were helpful and our room was spacious and clean. There was a great breakfast selection and the restaurant on site had various options

While the staff were lovely, we found breakfast service to be quite slow.
