Hotel Ancient Center

Staff did everything they could to make me comfortable.

There was no hotel nemed Holiday house, because they have changed name as Ancient Center...and it’s difficult to find with old name. Its bad when you travel with wife and luggage. Only good thing is good testy breakfast.:) no wifi in room.

Great location for Kathmandu sites

Had a fine stay with the Holiday Hotel House in Kathmandu. The wi-fi was strong, indoor bathroom with hot water, and easy check-in. Nice, no frills place for a quick stay in Kathmandu.

Clean comfy bed centrally located. Luke warm shower with very poor internet.

I got to the hotel after a long hike and motorbike ride only to be told they had no room available. However they offered an alternative in a substandard hotel for the same price and I questioned why, his explanation was that Expedia only paid $16 instead of $21 I paid. After an hour and a half, I was was offered a refund of $14 or settle with the substandard room and service. I'm very disappointed in both Expedia and the holiday for false advertising and will like to demand an explanation.

We went there a week ago and we're still thinking about it. The place was very convenient and the hotel clean and incredibly peaceful. The staff were very friendly and food was good. Kathmandu can be a bit overwhelming but the hotel offers a nice environment close to supermarkets, travel agencies, shops and restaurants.

Good quality hotel very friendly hotel staff that can sort out tours a very reasonable prices with good drivers and vehicles. Hotel accommodation is very cheap and good for what you have paid for near to shops and facilities.

An old, and old-fashioned hotel, minimal facilities, but very good staff.

This is an old, and old-fashioned hotel. The staff is pleasant and honest. There is hot water, the TV works, the bed is comfortable. Lighting is limited, and the bathroom is minimal. For the price, it is OK.

Very bad hotel wont recommend to any traveller. Greedy manager and criminal people own this hotel. The manager stole our money and locked us in a room, later we escaped with the help of police. Book any other hotel in kathmandu except this.

Good location as we are close to the Garden of Dream n the Palace, we can shop n go to nice garden cafe n bar. The breakfast is the same every day so this need improvement. The first to second floor is noisy so the hotel need to do some noise management. The hotel can arrange transport for you to go airport. They should also drawn a map to locate hotel n places of interest .

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. My room was decent, clean and comfortable. However the beds were never made when I would come back in the evenings. Breackfast was good but the service was terrible. I had to repeat myself 3 times every morning to get what I had asked for and most of the time they would forget something when we would only be 5 people in total having breackfast. I would still recommend this hotel but some changes have to be made especially regarding breackfast service.

Room condition was as shown on the photos but not as described. Free toiletries only limited to 1 bar of soap eventhough I've booked for 2 person. Zero response on email requesting airport pick up service. Hotel located right next to a pub, remember to bring ur own ear plug if you wish to have a good sleep. Nothing much to complain with this price, but there're plenty of choices out there...

This is a great low cost hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. Unfortunately there is a nightclub next door (in fact right through the wall from my bed) which played the same 10 song playlist into the early hours of the morning. For this reason alone I will not stay at this hotel again. I need more than 4 hours sleep a night. A shame really as the rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff more than helpful.

The hotel is in the center of Thamel and right next to a nightclub. There is bery loud music until 3am and its impossible to sleep. At all the hotel/rooms are very clairaudient which means you can people hear talking, working etc. the whole day/night. The owner tried to help us he offert different rooms to us, but there is no difference between them. The night guard was rude when we complain about the situation. After two nights we checked out before the regular check out day. No money refund. The rooms are a little bit old and not with a high standard. The towel (just one for two people) was not clean also. Just go there if you like party all night long and don't need a relaxed stay with some comfort.

Hotel Infrastructure is okay, but the neighbourhood is somewhat shady. Other than that, don't book bus tickets or anything else through the hotel, they charge you extra.

The photos does not represent the rooms correctly. We booked a room with 4 beds. It was not properly cleaned, 2 round tables in the room were dirty. Towels were not clean too, we used our own towels. The overall condition of the room was below average to average. Do not expect what you might see in the photos.

We stayed at Hotel Holiday House for 3 nights during our recent hiking trip to Nepal (1 on arrival, 2 more at the end of the trip). The hotel is nicely located in Thamel, which is where most of the foreigners stay and probably the most happening area in Kathmandu, making it very convenient. Our 3 person bedroom is clean and spacious, with air condition/ heating, hot shower, free wifi, and a TV with lots of channels. Toiletries are a bit basic (only soap and toilet paper) but overall we feel it's very good and a luxury after the basic tea houses during trekking. Breakfast is provided and cooked to order. The hotel is a bit difficult to find as it's nestled in a small side street with no banner/notices on the main street. Compared to the hustle and bustle of the outside street, it's actually quite quiet and calm in the hotel. I personally feel that it's a very good place to stay while in Kathmandu.

タオルが古い。茶色になってる！ ジメジメでした！ ずっと雨が降ったせいかもしれない。 ショッピングエリアで便利です！

Friendly staff. Generous portion of breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good electricity.

Location of the hotel is great, staffs are very kind and helpful especially front desk staff. The breakfast buffet is delicious. Rooms are very clean and big. The bathroom is modern and hot shower is very good. Highly recommended!!!

Location of the hotel is great, wonderful time during the stay at this hotel. Staffs and manager are very kind and helpful, and breakfast is delicious. The bathroom was very big and clean.

Very nice location, room is very big and clean, nice view from rooftop

Booked it for 12 nights because of the previous reviews, how very good it is. That might have been some time ago. • is not a HOTEL, it’s a backpacker hostel. • basic rooms, hot water only, when not many people using it and power is on. • More than eight hours a day power outages. o They have a generator, but don’t use it, because they want to save money. o WI-FI NOT WORKING IN ROOM • Rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming staff. • Doesn’t make for a quiet, relaxed vacation. Only for very short stay (1 night), to avoid disappointment.

IS A BASIC BACKPACKER LODGE, NOT A HOTEL. SUPER NOISY DAY AND NIGHT. GROUPS OF PEOPLE MOVE IN AND OUT. SCREAMING STAFF STARTING AT 5 A.M. AND ALL DAY LONG. PLUS CONSTRUCTION NOISE AND LOUD MUSIC FROM DISCO NEXT DOOR. CAN’T SLEEP, EVEN WITH EARPLUGS. WI-FI NOT WORKING IN ROOM AND MOST OF TIMES NOT WORKING AT ALL NOWHERE. MANAGEMENT SHOWS UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE ATTITUDE. I BOOKED A DELUXE ROOM INCLUDING BREAKFAST. THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE BREAKFAST, CLAIMED IT’S NOT INCLUDED IN ROOM RATE. IF YOU LOOKING FOR A WELCOMING, RELAXED HOTEL AND A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP, DON’T GO THERE, CAN’T RECOMMEND AT ALL. FREQUENT POWER CUTS, EIGHT HOURS AND MORE A DAY. DURING the many POWER CUTS ONE DIM LIGHT IN ROOM, NO LIGHT IN BATHROOM. FOR WHAT IT IS - IT’S OVERPRICED.

Very comfortable beds. About 70 channels, 32 inch flat screen. Rooms pretty nice and clean. Bathrooms are just ok. Free breakfast. Great location. Great service. Hotel owner very nice. They took care of our laundry service, arranged transport, let us keep hotel room late for extra fee because of late flight. Would definitely recommended for the price and service.

Great staff and included breakfast. Our entire group enjoyed our stay! Breakfast tip - ask for the pancakes :)

Nice location tucked back off the street. Can be a little noisy with surrounding nightlife if you're an early riser

Very friendly, helpfull staff and great location. Cozy garden where you can have some food and drinks.. Prices are good and everything u need is there :) at first i booked just for one night but after seeing nice hospitality i stayed over a week and felt like home.. A nice place to meet other people,

Very nice and quiet Hotel in center of Thamel. i enjoyed my stay at holiday house. there is very nice rooftop from where can be seen all kathmandu view. breakfast was supper and tea/coffee offer every time when i come back from outside. Every staff were very friendly and welcoming. i will definately stay here when i come again kathmandu

Promised airport transfer, same day laundry and balcony - these were not delivered. Room service had to be requested, not told at check in, and given that loos do not accept tissue this was an issue. Balconies are thoroughfares with no seating cannot be called balconies! But nice room clean and excellent value for money - I had a 70% reduction paid 1100 rupees

Comfortable bed ; hot water and AC working. Wifi is good.

Set in the middle of Thamel so you are surrounded by shopping experiences. That also makes it a bit noisy until about midnight. Very comfortable and clean.

hotel staffs are exceptionally friendly and fantastic people.

A little hotel in the middle of all the action in Katmandu. The only down thing is the loud music at night- there's a bar very close to the hotel! But, the price is right and the location too.

The hotel has a great location, very near to the restaurants and bars in the thamel area but it is located in a quiet area that allow you to have a good night sleep. Also very close to the Garden of dreams and the green line bus stop. The room is clean and the bed was really comfortable

It is a nice piece of property in the middle of Thamel. It bears the cultural heritage of Nepal. The staff here are very courteous too. Look out for Mr. Shuman, who would go to extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Overall it is an amazing place to stay in kathmandu Valley.

I stayed in hotel holiday House for days. While my stay they provide very nice & excellent hospitality. All the staff is very very nice & cordial. The food was hygienic & very delicious. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Kathmandu with friendly environment

i booked just for 1 night at this hotel. after seeing very nice hospitality, i extend 2 more night. hotel is located inside the thamel. you can find every thing near the hotel. i find all the staff helpfull and friendly. wifi work all the time with good speed. hot water run very well. i enjoy my stay here. i highly recommend this hotel

Extremely clean, great breakfast, super welcoming and helpful staff. I wouldn't consider other place to stay in my visits to Kathmandu. Additionally, its located at the heart of Thamel. In summary, excellent place to stay!

A very pleasant stay at this hotel which is value for money. Location is good, a little away from the busier shopping areas. Staff were always ready to greet and smile at you. Wifi signal is strong in the room. Love their free breakfast. Comes with omelette, hot dogs, toasts and pancakes with coffee/tea. You can ask for more if it isnt sufficient. As the hotel is old, the conditions of the room and bathroom arent fantastic. Do manage your expectations before staying here. Room will only be cleaned if you request for it. Otherwise, the housekeeper will give your room a miss. As there is a bar beneath the hotel, it can get noisy till midnight.

The hotel is located inside Thamel. It was the rainy season, so the streets was wet and muddy. It was a bit noisy at night due to the clubs nearby. Location of the hotel is difficult to find.

Good place to stay in Thamel. But it is near to Pubs and disco, a little noisy at night when party is on. Staffs are friendly.

The hotel is in the tourist area, pretty close to everything.

Great hotel for that price. Clean and comfortable rooms. Highly reccomended.

Drug sellers hang around out the front due to night club, constant water leaks into dinning area covered with newspaper and mosquitoes. Noise till 1am.

hotel staff was very friendly. The room was very clean and look good. they clean the room everyday and made it look like a brand new everyday. not extremely noisy, can sleep very comfy. The negative things were: There was often no electricity, the water was often cold in the shower and there were a lot of mosquitoes.

The hotel staff was awesome and greatly helped facilatate my travels all over Nepal.
