Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was large and very clean and comfortable.
The TV was very small and high, and we had to have the batteries replaced in the remote. Lot of stations but only a couple with regular programming. No movie or specific sports channels. Coffee in room would have been nice.
The location worked well for us. We like the open space outside, the grills, fire pits and picnic tables.
It was a quiet location. Easy in and out. The beds were comfortable and they were clean.
The doors and door frames were very dirty as was the shower curtain. The ashtray outside our room was full and there were cigarette butts on the ground in front of our door. The floor in the room was not clean and the inside of the microwave was food splattered. The fabric armchair (orange fabric) was disgustingly dirty with dark brownish staining on arms and sides.
Ok waren Bad und Bett.
Es gab keine vernünftige Sitzgelegenheit, nur zwei olle alte Gartenplastikstühle. Der Tisch war sehr alt und schäbig. Im Bad herrschte ein übler Geruch.
Room was tired and dated. Bathroom needs a complete overhaul
location was good, check in / out easy, nice green space with bbq's, fire pits, picnic tables. Pool there (we didn't use it but it was well used). Pretty relaxed environment.
The price we paid on here was much higher than it should have been or was. I should have checked back before the free cancellation was up and re-booked at a lower rate. It was very very high for the stay.
Location
Untidy and in disrepair
We came off the ferry in Tobermory Ontario at 7:30 at night and had a surprising amount of trouble finding a hotel open. We used booking.com and found this hotel which said clean so we figured it was ok for one night. It was $200.00 for no water in the shower, ants in the bathroom and by the door and no air conditioning. There was no coffee maker and the smoke detector was on the table with no batteries. Also there was no security lock on the door and by the way the door was open on arrival which allowed numerous flies to enter... In the AM we tried to complain about the lack of ability to shower at a minimum as there was no water coming out of the shower we were met with another gentleman also waiting to complain about the lack of water. NO ONE ANSWERED THE OFFICE - it was locked. it was about 10AM so should have been someone. The gentleman was waiting however long it took for a refund as other then the beds there was nothing to warrant the $200. Don't go here!
Having fire pits and a green area was a nice touch.
We booked for 6 people and the pull out couch was not prepared nor were there sheets for it in the room. When I asked I was given 1 sheet to put over the dirty mattress pad that was on the couch. I had to go back to the front desk several times to get enough sheets, towels, and a hairdryer for the room. The towels were stained and the shower faucet was loose. Bathroom sink was cracked. The front door was also banged up. I think the photos were from many years back before the place got grungy and worn down. Wifi worked better out of the room than in the room.
Bad place
Very dirty place. Very dirty place. Poor desk service. The place is totally neglected and unmaintained
Terrible , dirty ... we kept all our stuff in our car,as room was very filthy , damp!! No place to hang anything ( towels ,shirts,...). Very noisy and barely cooling air conditioner . TV/ cable operating with very slow internet ! Mini fridge doing almost nothing so we didn't use it . Washroom was renovated and looks OK but nowhere to put the soap after we used it , no toilet paper holder , nowhere to hang your cloths ,towels ... We took a shower , slept for a few hours and left .
Please save yourself from headache and lost $$$. We did not appreciated the accommodation here. It was the worst experience my family ever had in Tobermory.
I initially reserved two rooms and received a confirmation for one room described as a "family-sized" accommodation. Due to limited availability in the area during a peak travel period, it was not possible to secure an additional room at the property or alternative accommodations elsewhere. The reservation was for a two-night stay. The property was advertised as an inn; however, upon arrival, it was clearly a motel. During our stay, the following conditions were observed: * Yellow stains were present on the bed linens and towels. * No hand soap was provided in the washroom. * The room contained two queen beds and two pull-out sofa beds. When the sofa beds were fully extended, the available floor space appeared insufficient to comfortably accommodate the advertised occupancy. We had called the “Inn” in advance and asked if it would accommodate eight people and they confirmed. * A smoke alarm was not observed in the room. * Electrical receptacles appeared to have exposed openings. * At the entrance to the unit, an exterior water spout was continuously discharging water. A bucket had been placed beneath the leak but was overflowing, resulting in standing water at the entrance to the room and a saturated entry way. * Upon entering the room, there was a noticeable odour consistent with dampness or mould. On the second evening of our stay, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the shower in the room stopped working. The issue was reported to an employee on site, who contacted the owner's son for assistance. The shower was restored to working order at approximately 9:45 p.m. During the same interaction, we also advised staff of the ongoing leak from the exterior water spout. Repair efforts on the exterior leak began at approximately 10:45 p.m by the owner himself and a colleague. Following these events, we expressed concerns regarding the inconveniences experienced during our stay and requested that the owner consider an adjustment to the charges. We had asked for a discount for the stay as opposed to a full refund. In response, the owner yelled at us to leave the premises (between 10:45 PM and 11:00 PM) and stated that the room would be reset and rented to another guest. We were also told not to return the following day to request a refund. We were told that “people like us that book motels are always looking for a discount.” While trying to repair the leak, the owner and the colleague made the leak worse. Water extended beyond the immediate entrance to our room and spread across portions of the parking lot and toward neighbouring units. At approximately 11:00 p.m., we decided to vacate the property after being told to leave. While packing our belongings, we recorded video footage of the condition of the premises and the room at the time of our departure for documentation purposes. During this time, the owner lunged at me and yelled at me to stop recording. The interaction escalated, and the owner contacted the Ontario Provincial Police. Officers attended the property; however, no further action was taken at that time. We left the premises around 1:00 a.m. to begin our 4-hour-long drive back to Toronto. We ended up having to cancel our $600 Flower Pot Island Cruise the following day. Disgusting experience at this place. Book at your own risk.
Under any circumstance, do not come to this motel. The owner of the motel initiated a hostile dispute with me and my family with minor children. As I inquired about compensation for the issues in our unit, the owner refused to acknowledge the responsibility of these issues and made the excuse that we were the type of people to look for something to pick at or break something to get money from them. The issues are addressed in the photos in this review. I would add a video of the altercation if Trip Advisor allowed videos. Granted, some of the issues were fixed by the owner's son named Shiv, however, the owner himself started to raise his voice as we continued to speak of our concerns of the unit itself. Instead of accommodating and acknowledging our concerns as paying customers, which acknowledging is the least the owner can do. The owner started to raise his voice especially when my mother and wife spoke, which showed he did not like to argue with women. I distinctly remember the owner yelling at my wife "YOU DO NOT WANT TO MAKE ME ANGRY". My father and I had to step in and defend our family. The owner and his colleague started to argue and yell at me and my family and told us SPECIFICALLY: "you can leave the property and don't come to me in the morning asking for a discount or refund". When his son came to hold them back, he raised his hand up as if he were to swing a slap/punch at me. He specifically pointed at me when that happened. As the argument was happening, we had finished packing and wanted to record the room and the situation for documentation. The owner noticed cameras were out and started bolting toward my wife who was recording. I came to defend her and the colleague started to touch me. And to defend myself and my family, my dad and I had told them firmly to not go near anyone. The owner ended up calling the police around 12am at night. We waited for the cops to come and OPP had arrived around 1am. The cops took our statements and let me and my family leave in peace. The police were very polite and apologetic of the situation. Due to the disrespect and humiliation from the owner we cut our trip short and left around 1:30am on July 5th to drive 4 hours back to Toronto and cancel our Tobermory Boat Cruise the next day. I had just spoke to Hotels.com where we had booked this right before making this review. They called the motel and asked for compensation and to no surprise they took our money. They refused to refund our remaining night because we did not leave before 9:30pm according to their "policy". It goes to show how greedy, uncivil, and disrespectful they are as people. Never go to this place.
Picture this: You check into a place that calls itself an “inn.” Instead, you’re greeted by dirty sheets, dirty towels, no soap, screaming neighbouring guests, a strong mildew smell, pests, a leaking faucet overflowing onto the floor, and a broken shower. Now imagine calmly asking for a discount because your room wasn’t even fit for guests—only to be yelled at, told to “shut up” because you’re a woman raising serious issues, and only for THE OWNER to raise their hand at you in an attempt to intimidate you to the point that police had to be called. Hospitality shouldn’t look like this. Book somewhere else.
There was no breakfast. Room was very dated but more importantly we rented a queen bed and got two doubles. We stated clearly we were with a pet and they pretended they didn’t know and just put us in the room closest to the front where all the noise was.
Price
It was in a very good location and the staff was very friendly.
Bed and toilet facilities were very basic. We were missing a hair dryer.
Beautiful yard, fire pits, picnic tables. Clean room, refreshed interior.
We were hiking the Bruce Trail, so the location was perfect and very close to town. The check-in time was very flexible and the rooms nice and clean. Customer service was top-notch. The room had a microwave and small fridge and also AC and heating. There were benches outside of each unit as well as barbeques and fire pits on the main grounds. The rooms were quiet, and the grounds were relaxing and well maintained. We stayed for several days and will be coming back next week to continue our hike and will be staying for several more days. Good value for your dollar.
The location and price
There was no staff on hand when we arrived had to call for someone to come after booking through booking..com you would expect someone to be there no coffee machines in room no information in rooms on where to eat or what is open don't really offer much for your stay
NO BREAKFAST OFFERED
I was in the last room farist from the office. The wifi did not work.
We were quite happy with everything.
Close to town centre
No coffee maker in room
It is a nice location and they have made several improvements.
Cleanliness, when using the pull out couch, the mattress protector was dirty/dusty and had stains on it. More attention is needed to open these up and clean them between rentals.
It’s In a great location! Staff friendly and helpful.
So dusty.
Always a comfortable stay! Right in the heart of Wiarton.
Pet friendly
Thin walls, noisy
Very handy to the highway and close to Wiarton
It was rather grungy and needed some updating. The bed was very comfortable though. A large group decided to have a very noisy party out at the fire pit, which was just off from our room. Thank goodness for the rain which sent them indoors.
I enjoyed all my spending nights there! It was clean, very polite stuff. The beds were very comfortable :)
They probably need to change their lockers on the doors. It's hard to open the door
Dog friendly. Recently renovated. Very comfortable
Nothing really
Dirty and in a very bad condition, no facilities, and insects inn the room.
Location
Was travelling with a group of four and booked two rooms to stay one night. From the very first look, the rooms did not feel clean though they smelled of heavy cleaning products. So much so that we had to open the windows to let in some fresh air. The furnishing were old and did not feel clean or well maintained, missing light bulbs, hair in the sink upon arrival and so on. One of the room's layout did not make any sense, it had two entry doors and two bathrooms, an entrance hallway with a sofa which was meant to be the sitting area (no coffee/side tables or any other furnishings) and there was no TV in the room though you could hear the TV very clearly from an adjoining room (or the lobby?)The room had not been finished so trim around the doors and window was missing. The lobby was dark and like a storage area. The room rates did not reflect the condition and cleanliness of the rooms and were definitely not value for money. A very expensive booking for an unpleasant experience, our group decided it would be better to drive all the way to Toronto rather than spend a night here. This place may be fine if you are on a budget (though it wasn't chea) and just need a place to crash. It is not for someone looking for a comfortable relaxing motel on a country getaway.
Was able to have my dog with me
Room was small and Cramped. Linens weren't clean. I was terrified we were going to get bed bugs although we didn't thankfully. Room was extremely overpriced. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Never again.
We loved our stay.
Everything else was pretty good. Just the air conditioner was not working it was very hot during night
No breakfast. Mattresses and pillows were comfortable. Nice to have fire pits. Quiet except for fireworks one night at midnight. Met my expectations for a small town motel.
Breakfast not available.
The staff is great and there have been several upgrades. It is your typical motel a place to sleep and go. It was close enough to go back to Tobermory but as usual the summer pricing is quite high
The pool
I had to leave a day early when I paid a full 4 day stay .. well, I was asked to leave the property.. I should get that one night stay full refund. Please!! Help me
It was nice place
My mom visited us from Colombia and we stayed at the Willys Inn during my vacation in Tobermory. It was very nice. I felt safe with my family. The room was clean. It has a refrigerator and microwave, which was very useful. It has air conditioning and a large green area where you can barbecue and have a fire pit. We also enjoyed the pool, which, although small, we liked. Daily housekeeping is included. I highly recommend it.
Beautiful property, pool was wonderful! Room was clean and spacious. 3min to the heart of Wiarton.
Could of been cleaner inside
Rooms and bathroom, outside area were not clean
Good place to stay for 1-2 nights
Mixed bag! Pros: firepits and open grassy area were nice. Landscape was pretty, motel was quiet, staff were friendly. A/C was good, beds were decent, nice to have a pool. Cons: pool was exceptionally dirty. Not only algae overgrowth but literally pieces of garbage floating around in it. Outside grounds also had a fair bit of garbage. Room had a broken smoke alarm hanging from the ceiling. Bathroom was kinda grungy.
The staff there are great and helpful they even sell firewood for there fire pit was awesome and what the star and would gladly go back there in fall time and next summer as well cheers 🥂
We had originally booked an inn closer to Tobermory and they unexpectedly had a fire so we had to find something else very short notice. This was 77 kms away and we had to do that roundtrip twice in order to do the activities we had planned. There was only a tiny fridge and microwave in the room and that's it. We stayed 3 nights and one of the nights it was $395. That was crazy expensive for what you get. We stayed in room number 5 and let me tell you it was an absolute nightmare. The entrance door didn't close well, it almost seemed like the door was too big for the frame, it was so difficult to close. The door had a hole under and bugs would come in from there throughout the day. The toilet seat was so loose i nearly fell off.. the sink was loose, badly connected to the pedestal. The spout in the bathtub was very loose. And the tub was dirty. The towels had suspicous stains on them, almost like they don't use bleach to disinfect them properly. The pool wasn't well maintained, the water was foggy and slimy. The 3 nights we stayed there came out to almost 1000$, which is absolutely ridiculous for the conditions the room was in. My honest piece of advice, please consider this hotel as a last resort. You're better off spending your money somewhere in better shape than this.
It was a good place to be able to have my dog with me while travelling. The room was air conditioned so it was a nice reliefon a hot day, and there is a very large yard which was good for walking my dog around.
Good
All was clean, bathroom floor cud have been better but overall, a really great motel, no issues at all and great close stay for Sauble Beach lovers! The diner across street was great as well.
It’s okay
Good
It had a lovely swimming pool. Beds comfy and sheets clean. Asked for a late check out and owner was happy to do that.
No coffee machine. Fridge was leaking at the bottom Room was ok but definitely not worth the amount of money paid fir what is a 2 star motel. Mixed reviews on trip advisor but i found the owners were friendly.
friendly
if there is a vending machine
The facilities are old.
Parfait
Check in was no problem, super friendly staff. Room was very run down. Smoke detector and light fixture where hanging off the wall with just wiring. All towels had stains on them. Pool was decent but can’t use past dark as there were no lights. TV had maybe 8 channels to choose from and not the option to connect Netflix or anything. Had to ask for bedding for the pull out couches, and no extra pillows were offered. For $250 a night, was not worth it. If I had known, I would have driven the extra 30 mins out of town to stay somewhere else for the same price.

Very comfortable place to stay.
Check in was super fast, but walking into the room we were met with a massive moth and a big fly. The few towels that we pulled were stained with dirt, not to mention the floors having scuffs everywhere and being visibly dirty. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the green space outside with picnic tables was beautiful for star gazing. Didn’t try out the pool but the colour was more green than how it’s meant to be.
Great stay - priced appropriately
Could have been cleaner. The white comforters on the beds had stains, the towels had stains, the tv was covered in handprints, the light switches were dirty, lots of dirt on the baseboards and walls. Beds were comfortable enough but glad we didn’t spend a lot of time in the rooms because they could have been much cleaner. The outlet in the lamp was broken, the door automatically locked so we had to make sure we didn’t lock ourselves out by mistake.
It was amazing experience to stay there.
Accessible, open. Mulitple braai units so families can enjoy the evening braai some meat or just an open fire.
Great location and rooms were clean
Pool was green. Not sure why.. our kids would not even go in! Not a huge deal because the beach and splash pad in Wiarton is amazing.
Overpriced.
Good place to stay a night if you are passing by this area
Do not stay here! We gave it a one star but it’s easily a ZERO. This place has been taken over by New Canadians with third world standards in hospitality. The Inn is advertised as newly renovated but our room was disgusting and unfit for anyone. Sure there was maybe some paint thrown on the walls sometime in the last few years and some shotty wallpaper behind the beds but that’s it. The orange and chocolate brown furniture was right out of the 70’s and likely salvaged from some other derelict motel. It was so filthy I wouldn’t let my dog on it. They had put down some new flooring and tile as well but a ten year old kid could have done a better job. The floor was uneven, chipped, jagged and dangerous. The lamp in between the beds was rusty to the point I was fearful of tetanus and the shade was covered in mystery brown splatters. The advertised outdoor luxury in-ground pool violated so many safety standards. The gate was wide open for anyone to wander in including young children. There was no safety equipment anywhere, no posted pool rules, broken plastic patio chairs and the water was green, murky and so cloudy you couldn’t see the bottom of the shallow end. It again wasn’t fit for my dog to even swim in. There was a large outdoor area with fire pits and some BBQs. All the barbecues were broken and missing grills. We did try to make the most of our night and had a campfire but the whole time the owner operators were staring at us from their second floor windows. Creepy! The rooms were not clean, in fact I refused to take my shoes off and wore my flip flops in the shower. The air conditioner remarkably blew cool air but there was a towel on the floor to catch the leaking run off. A small television was bolted oddly in the corner of the room at the ceiling but not moveable so difficult to see from one of the beds. As an aside note they do advertise they are pet friendly but an additional charge of $29 was added to our bill a few hours after our arrival, for our 8 pound, well behaved poodle. We typically do not take the time to write bad reviews but we were so saddened to see the decline of this Wiarton motel we have known for over 30 years we felt obligated to discourage all others from wasting their money. Stay anywhere else but here. This place needs to be shut down immediately.
Nice budget motel.
The location was really good and the outdoor facilities.
The wifi was really bad, the toiletries seemed to be really old fashioned, no smart tv, also the fridge wasnt cooling well
It was nice being able to have all 6 of us in the same room.
Beds weren’t super comfortable. The pullout bed had gum stuck to the bottom of it and there was dirty Kleenex and a lot of dirt under the couch. The bathroom was okay but not super clean. The clean towels came with someone else’s hair on them.
Location was convenient. Easy parking right by the door. The mini fridge had a freezer which was practical to freeze our ice packs again. We were also glad there was a niceowave available.
The tiles in the shower seem recently redone but the cleaning job was botchs (there's still some gount on the surfaces. Tub faucet was flimsy and so was the sink. Not enough counter space.
Older motel, but very comfortable and clean!
The lobby was a bit strange as there was a partition blocking most of it and it appeared that people were living on the other side. The motel itself was okay, if not a bit run down looking, but it was generally pretty clean and the staff was friendly/helpful. However, the air conditioner was LOUD and seemed to just be pumping out mostly warm air. My family and I were pretty uncomfortable and didn't sleep well tbh. Overall, not the best experience ever but we did get to see Wiarton Willy's home down by the lake and go for a quick swim before the storm rolled through town.
Property very well maintained. Rooms clean.
Loved the pool. The pull out sofa bed was a bit dirty
