The house is very beautiful, the location is good, and the landlord is very tasteful. I will choose to check in next time I come to Taupo.

Everything here is exceptional ! Rob and Karen were wonderful and the rooms were beautiful. Hot large shower, comfortable bed, great views of lake , yummy breakfast and they even did laundry for me since I was traveling for 2 weeks. I would recommend this place 100%

We really enjoyed our stay, thanks to wonderful hosts Rob and Karen. The room is decorated and meticulously decorated down to the smallest detail and includes an amazing view and an outdoor jacuzzi. Excellent breakfast. Thank you Rob and Karen.

Karen and Rob were very personable and inviting. The lodge is beautifully decorated with something to feats the eyes upon in every nook. Our room was magnificent with an incredible view. Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable and the complimentary bottle of wine was a lovely touch.

Luxurious bed and breakfast with fabulous views of the lake and a short drive from Taupo city centre. The hosts Karen and Rob have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as it can be. Highly recommend. Will definitely stay at the Flying Trout on future visits to Taupo.

Simply superb !! From start to finish this hotel / b&b was the highlight of our visit to NZ. A beautiful home with stunning views of the lake in Lake Taupo. The hosts are most gracious. The room was beautiful. Extremely large with a dressing area, balcony with a gorgeous view, jacuzzi bath tub and shower. Breakfast was plentiful and beautifully presented.

We had a fantastic stay...if I can give it 6 stars & more, I would! What made the place so special is the wonderful & warm hospitality of hosts Rob & Karen, they made us feel so welcome the moment we arrived. The Kiwi Suite (that we booked) was perfect in every way, fully equipped with all the necc amenities and had amazing views of Lake Taupo. Very quiet and super comfy beds. Breakfast simply yummy & prepared to perfection by Karen. A wonderful home that has so much character to it because of the exquisite collection of artwork & artifacts accumulated by Rob over the years. A must stay for anyone looking for THE perfect place.

The Flying Trout was outstanding accomodation. Very welcoming and comfortable. There was no stone left unturned. Everything you could possibly need was thought of. Breakfast was outstanding. With the world’s most delicious Granola. Karen and Rob were excellent hosts.

But what makes it extra special is the incredible attention to detail that Karen and Rob have put in to make their guests’ stay “just right”, and their kindness in tailoring the local recommendations to our specific needs. The lodge is so well set up with everything that you could need for a most comfortable stay. Our room was lovely and quiet with a view to Lake Taupo from the balcony. Rob and Karen were so helpful in giving us local guidance about activities and places to eat. The breakfast was delicious.

Flying trout boutique lodge is one of the most beautiful places I have stayed in the world . We had a lovely suite upstairs with a panoramic view of lake Taupo . Breakfast is wonderful and Karen will insure you are pleased with everything served . Rob is helpful with area info and a few nights he drive us in to town for dinner . We would definitely stay at this charming lodge again - treat yourself if you are in lake Taupo

The best spot we have stayed in New Zealand! Rob and Karen could not have been kinder and more welcoming. The facilities including the hot tub were luxurious and beyond what we expected. Breakfast was delicious. The property is central to everything in Taupo. Make your reservation now! We could not recommend more highly.

Hosts were amazing, super friendly and accommodating. Loved the house and the view. The complimentary bottle of wine and snacks/chocolates is a nice touch.

Room was a bit chilly, took a while to warm it up, just because the Tui suite is quite large. It's line of sight from the door to the kitchen, if you wanted a sleep in, it can be difficult from the kitchen noise. I'd love to go back though!

My only suggestion would be to move breakfast from 7-9 to 8-10 and check out from 10 to 11. But I'm nitpicking it was a fabulous place to stay

A luxurious stay in a picturesque location with sweeping views over Lake Taupo. From complimentary chocolate on the pillow (and the choice of a feather, lavender or cotton fill pillow), to the expansive room and spa bath, everything exceeded our expectations. The room and house were immaculately clean. Every amenity was catered for including complimentary wine, water, a range of hot beverages, and toiletries including disposable bathroom sandals. The hosts - Rob and Karen - were unobtrusive yet friendly and made the Bed and Breakfast experience really unique and special. I felt as though I was a welcome guest in their space and home. Finally - the breakfast itself was amazing!

The view of the lake from our beautiful room was stunning. The staff were extremely friendly and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. They were able to make recommendations for some great local restaurants and they offered a very tasty breakfast. We could not fault the service, location or accommodation. It was a real treat!

Couldn't fault anything

Gorgeous bed and breakfast stay high up, overlooking the lake with stunning views from the Kiwi Suite. Friendly and relaxing spot with every need thought of and the most amazing huge breakfast. There were little additions like chocolates around the room and there's a snooker table and honesty bar in the lodge to use. Loved every minute.

I loved our private jacuzzi. The hosts, Rob and Karen were lovely. Their breakfasts are delicious. The decor of the lodge sure makes it feel like home. We enjoyed our stay.

breakfast let this place down, it was huge and had variety but was almost cold - nothing was piping hot rendering it tasteless - it had obviously been cooked much earlier- the mushrooms - I’m sure they were out of a tin were congealing on the plate.
