We stayed in Room 4, it needs a little TLC.

We loved the whole experience, the villa, the surroundings, everything. The drive up to the villa was an adventure in itself. We felt extremely safe and parking was behind a remote-controlled gate. At Villa Castollini you feel like you're staying in a different country, I would call it Tuscan Italian vibes. The sounds of nature pulls you in, you feel captivated by the beautiful outdoors. Stunning artwork and displays immediately waken your curiousity as you first enter the villa through the big wooden doors. You have a splendid view of Knysna central and the lagoon. It was a blessing to wake up to the sunrise and hear the birds waking up too. Rejuvinating! As you exit the property, the ocean is on the other side. The drive down to the nearby beach restaurants and walks were fantastic too. There's a lovely open chapel which is perfect for a wedding...overlooking the ocean, etc. Loved the honest-bar, where you can go and serve yourself refreshments and beverages (you write your items up in a book and pay after). It felt great to sit and relax there. Tastefully decorated with collectables and interesting pieces. Loved the background music playing inside the dining area. It added to the relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast was super tasty and carefully prepared by the helpful staff. Francois, the manager, was so helpful and very knowledgeable about places to go and explore. He was always ready to assist with anything. His staff are always on their post, ready to help and take care of their guests. Our room was spacious and amazingly comfortable. A very cozy and warm bed. The bathroom was great, it had a shower and a bathtub. Perfection. Lots of cupboard space and a small bar fridge. Would love to go to Villa Castollini again in the future.

That view! It was the main reason we booked there - and it delivered. It was the perfect spot for pure relaxation and we had the added benefit of good weather so spent hours at the pool looking out towards Knysna and Belvidere. In addition- the rooms were comfortable and clean, the hosts and staff friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good and we made use of the honesty bar . We didnt use the other communal areas but there were people in the lounge and bar at times. The property is spacious with a lot of options, easy to find a peaceful spot.

It is an older property but not fair to use that as a negative. There is a comfortable and welcoming ambience and that is more important.

The location of the Villa is perfect.

The family unit - no luxury at all. Faded plastic chairs, torn gas braai cover. Dead insects on floors & windows. Dirty walls, broken cabinet doors. Mould in shower (2nd bedroom). No TV in main bedroom. No shower in main bathroom. Mismatched floor tiles. No river view when seated in lounge.

Very uncomfortable bed, no privacy in our room because the guests next to us relaxed on their patio chairs which were right at our bedroom window and the room and bathroom are due for an upgrade.

It's been honestly one of the most unique accomodations I have ever stayed in. The view over the bay is absolutely stunning in real life and is even better than suggested by the pictures.

A beautiful guest house with stunning views of the Knysna lagoon. A satisfying breakfast is served. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.

The breakfast choice was good and freshly cooked to order. The location provided fantastic views over the bay but also offered some good dining options withjin 10 minutes drive.

The service for coffee at breakfast was a little slow and complicated by the use of a coffee machine that only some of the staff appeared to have been trained on.

It’s very tastefully designed, upkeep and staff are nice. Breakfast was good, all amenities as shown. View of the lagoon and city is amazing

Extra large bed was a plus. Bottled water was available at all times for no extra charge. The honesty bar is a lovely touch.

A estrutura é muito antiga , quartos com mofo e um dos quartos estava com rachaduras no teto e infiltração . Ao chegarmos a porta estava fechada e chaveada . Demorou a vir alguém nos atender . Acabamos desistindo da hospedagem devido ao mofo e também medo do teto cair . Solicitei 50% ao menos de reembolso .

Das Zimmer war ungewöhnlich groß, komfortabel mit allem nötigen und schönen Blick auf die Knysna Lagune. Die Unterkunft hatte einen Pool zum Erfrischen. Das Frühstück war gut. Das Ambiente der Villa war sehr ansprechend.

Es war wohl mehr den anderen Gästen geschuldet, dass ich an beiden Tagen beim Frühstück nur noch leere Schalen vorfand.

The view from the hotel is stunning, across the lagoon to Knysner. There’s a beautiful pool looking across the view. The Breakfast was fabulous. A varied choice of cooked meals and a buffet counter of fruit’s, juices and cereals. All served in a lovely light airy room with a view, by very friendly staff.

Villa is advertised as a luxury accommodation. That is NOT what it is for at least last 20 years, judging by the state of the bathrooms, carpets and overall frailties. Coffee was terrible, breakfast not much better. We stayed over Xmas and the pool was too dirty to even step in to it. The only good idea was the Honestly Bar.

This was my second stay at this EXQUISITE establishment, and certainly not my last. Always memorable. Francois's professionalism goes unchallenged. The entire team is amazing. Views are breathtaking. The place is absolutely stunning., and the furnishings and art are spectacular. Beaches were over crowded so we opted for the pool side with bubbles. I'm not a breakfast person, but the delicious foods served was too tempting to miss. Villa Castollini has really become my fave go to.Vv

No Thing to not like.

A lovely place to stay and very welcoming. On top of the hill on the way down to Brenton on Sea. It will be a definite stop there again when the opportunity arises.

Wat een fantastisch uitzicht !! Alleen dat al maakt een bezoek meer dan waard. Vanuit de tuin met zwembad een schitterend uitzicht over de Knysna Lagune; ‘‘s ochtends, ‘‘s middags en ‘‘s avonds ! Heerlijk ontbijt, attente staf, heerlijke douche, een bed als een vliegdekschip zo groot

Als je in de tuin of aan het zwembad zit, wil je niet meer weg. Helaas kun je er niet lunchen of dineren

The first impression was -"what a place!Luxurious, beautiful, lovely!". What destroyed my impressiomn of a most luxourious hotel was - the next morning. NO WATER. How on earth can a 1.st class hotel be provided with septic tanks - but no tanks for "spare" water when the water supply is a wellkown problem? I could not know for how long that lack of water would remain. So no thanks, cannot recommend this hotel

Lack of water in the morning. No shower, no brush of teeth . - no nothing. With proper advance planning (i.e. water tanks in the grund) it should not have been a problem,. I'm quite shure the hotel has their own power supply should there be a shorter or longer cut off from the grid - and the water supply problem is a known one. And nothing has been done. Shame!

Lovely hotel with good location for a garden route tour

From check-in to check-out, this place deserves way more than five stars—if I could, I’d give it 100!! The staff were absolutely incredible—special shoutout to Tracy for her amazing hospitality. The location, the views, and the room were all simply breathtaking. We also took Karen’s advice on where to visit, and she was spot-on with every recommendation. We’ll definitely be back! If you ever find yourself in Brenton-on-Sea, Villa Castollini is an absolute must-visit. Honestly, I’d plan a trip just to stay here again.

The location is stunning, with the property overlooking the lagoon and mountains. The inside is spacious, with multiple public areas people can use. It's a nice touch having self-serve drinks on the property. Breakfast was quite tasty and the food was high quality. Definitely recommend.

The bed is extremely hard, even for someone who prefers hard mattresses. The property is outside of town and a bit remote, making dinner options few without a decent drive. I read there was an option to request dinner at the property, though I didn't try it.

We had a wonderful stay and only regret that we didn't stay longer! Francois (host) was outstanding, and went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. Next time we'll book a sea facing room and stay longer.

Unbedingt buchen!!! Ganz tolle Unterkunft. Preis Leistung hat mehr als gestimmt. Ruhige, etwas abgelegene Lage mit großartigem Blick auf die Lagune. Die Hausherrin hat uns super freundlich empfangen. Frühstück gibt es a la carte. Die Zimmer als auch die Villa insgesamt sind sauber und aufwändig eingerichtet. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.
