Arrived to find they had no record of our booking that was booked and paid for through Expedia. The hotel staff were helpfull in finding us a room at an alternative hotel, but this was not in the same area of Paris which was extremely disappointing and inconvenient. Expedia were extremely unhelpful in offering any compensation, we will not be using this platform again for booking accommodation.
Great breakfast, although their 7am start was delayed by 15 minutes & i was not impressed.
Karen at the desk was so friendly and helpful
Upon check-in, we found the hotel charming with a nostalgic, old-school vibe. My wife and I booked three nights under my name. The room was small but functional — cold AC, hot water, and a comfortable queen bed. Since we spent most of our time exploring Paris, the room size wasn’t an issue. On our final night, we returned to the hotel around 2 AM after a long day out, only to be told we couldn’t access our room due to a supposed single-occupancy rule. This was surprising, as it was our third night there with no prior mention of this restriction. I asked to see where this policy was stated and was shown something in French. I apologized, offered to add my wife to the reservation and pay any extra charges, but was told the hotel was fully booked and we had to leave immediately — no refund, no alternative, no assistance. While I acknowledge the importance of reading the fine print, the lack of communication and inflexibility at such a late hour was unacceptable. It completely derailed our final night in Paris.
Staff was great. Room was a little small, but we did just fine. Location made it all worth it!
Great location. Small but comfortable room. Impeccably clean and recently remodeled. Excellent, friendly service.
Small, near Notre Dame and good food, easy to get to and helpful staff. Good price, good beds, perfect for our needs
A classic Paris hotel. Small cozy room. Nice staff. Enjoyed the location.
Very good location for restaurants, bars and tourist sites. Room cleaned everyday and new bathroom facilities with excellent shower. Nice balcony.
Good friendly hotel
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good breakfast.
This Hotel is a small very friendly Hotel, there are restaurents near by and it is within walking distance of attractions and buses and trains' Also you can have breakfast for a very reasonable price. We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you
The hotel is very clean, bed was comfortable. We loved the area nice restaurants and easy to get to train stations.
Great area Latin quarter has interesting cafes and within walking distance to metro and also the Seine. Great breakfast and friendly staff.
Wonderful staff made our trip amazing!
very dirty room, especially in the bathroom, I do not recommend
Very friendly staff - everything was cleaned properly
It was a nice stay at this hotel the staffvwas realy nice
Stayed there with my son for vacation from Florida. Close to a lot of restaurants. Old but nice condition. Staff super friendly.
This was our easiest stay during our time in Paris. The staff was wonderful, the neighborhood was easily walkable to things we wanted to see. Our room was clean and had a nice little balcony for us to enjoy.
Great location, walking distance to everything from Notre Dame to best oyster spot in Latin Quarter. Loved this gem of an old hotel.
The property is lovely. I booked a triple and was quite comfortable. The location is very convenient and close to great restaurants and attractions. The area seemed quite safe. I would definitely stay there again.
Very clean with a friendly staff
Positives: Great location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Negatives: Very compact. The hotel is in an great location, it was an easy walk to Notre Dame and on to the rest of Paris. There are lots of lovely places to eat nearby. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating of our our poor french. We stayed on the top floor which gave us lovely views from the balcony. The room itself was very compact, especially the bathroom, I am 6 foot tall and barely fit between the toilet and the wall. Despite being small, the room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Overall we had a great time here and would happily stay again.
Good location, very walkable but the room is tiny and we didn’t get a balcony. Much dirtier and smaller then in the pictures
The Familia Hotel was in close proximity to the train & there were many restaurants nearby. The room was small but it was a 2 star hotel so that’s to be expected. Staff were friendly & efficient. Would stay again because of the location.
This is a charming small hotel on the Rive Gauches. Staff is friendly and English is spoken. Rooms are immaculate. The shower was the best of my 3 week trip to Europe. Rooms are small but I have stayed in much smaller ones and paid more. The breakfast was good, although for the price, I’d you’ve got the time you may enjoy a cafe just as well. Easy one block walk to Metro and buses/taxis easily available across the street.
Absolutely lovely! The room was gorgeous, clean and cute with a sweet balcony. Staff were incredibly friendly and super helpful - an absolute delight. Lots of great places to eat and beautiful streets to wander nearby. Walkable to most sights and plenty of stations nearby. Would definitely recommend for service and stay. We loved it!
Amazing experience Get a balcony room well worth it. Wonderful stay! Hope to come back!
The Familia Hotel was great. We had a wonderful stay. The employees were helpful, the room was nice and the location was amazing. Everything was perfect. There were coffee places and restaurants nearby, a cool bar across the street, a small supermarket, bakery and pharmacy on the same block. The two metro stations were just a few minutes walk from the hotel. We walked to other nice neighbourhoods. It was all very convenient and safe.
Triple room on the top floor was clean and had great views. Loved the little balconies. Fantastic location. Bathroom smelled a little of sewage. Even on a hot day, it was plenty cool.
Our family had such a lovely stay at Familia Hotel. Location was fantastic- walking distance to Notre Dame and the Louvre. The lift was helpful, the rooms were very comfortable, with excellent beds, and we even had a balcony and mini-fridge. The cleaners really go above and beyond when servicing the rooms and everything was sparkling clean. Guest services staff were kind and gracious from checkin with Wilson who was friendly and efficient, to helpful Fatima the breakfast staff, and the lovely lady working the front desk in the morning (sorry, I didn’t catch her name). We will absolutely seek out this hotel for our next stay in Paris and you should too!
This location is great - short walk to Pantheon and easy bus access to other sights If you are looking for quiet, this is not the place - several restaurants and bars are very close and very noisy but fun area The rooms are very small with limited amenities Breakfast is a cost but a great deal- I recommend
The room was pretty small however I appreciate that all Paris hotel rooms are small. The staff was super friendly. Easily accessible by metro and several great little cafes nearby. I would definitely recommend it
A very nice affordable hotel in the Latin Quarter.
The staff were great, the location is very easy to get to via transit (about 2 blocks away from the metro station). The complimentary breakfast was a basic French breakfast, could not complain. The shower has really high water pressure which was nice, but finding the correct temp was a bit of a task. Very satisfied with our stay at this hotel, will definitely consider returning if I ever visit Paris in the future.
The place was darlingly French and the staff perfect- will always stay here while in Paris for long stays
I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and it remains charming . It makes me feel at home. The beds were clean and comfortable. The staff helpful and friendly. The area perfection. Beautiful stay.
Las personas fueron muy atentas y amables, y si volveríamos a quedarnos en el hotel familia, excelente en todo.
Nice hotel with great location and friendly staf.
We love this hotel. Very good location, service (pre-booking and once arrived) was exceptional and the rooms small but comfortable. Views from the balcony!
The staff as excellent. Helpful informative Impeccable location
Very clean, lovely bedding Sweet balcony
My stay was pleasant. The location of the hotel is terrific; a popular, but not too busy main street , close to 2 Metro stations., and close to many tourist attractions in that Arrondisment. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. All of the staff were pleasant.
I don’t like to complain but I feel I have to warn others about this place. The place is horrible. The rooms are so small you can’t open your suitcase and when you walk into the room you’re already against the wall. You can’t even open the bathroom door properly because of how small it is, it’s dusty and I’ve got an allergy to dust so it killed me staying the one night that I did. It has none of the complementaries a hotel gives e.g. coffee, water, etc. The guy at the desk when I checked in was pretty rude. Although the woman when I checked out was ace! She was so nice. They don’t provide small toiletries and their towns are a joke. They’re so small you can’t even wrap them around you. As for the comfort of the bed? It’s uncomfortable it’s hard as a rock and the so called pillow they gave was so flat and small that it felt like I was sleeping on the mattress if you can call it that because it felt like a rock. The hallways are so small you can’t move your suitcase and when you come out of your room you’re face to face with somebody else’s door. My stay here was absolutely rotten. I want to thank the kind lady that was there when I checked out because her kindness made me feel a little better.
The location is convenient to the metro, shopping, small eateries, the Latin Quarter. Small rooms, but clean.
I have stayed at this hotel before. It was wonderful. A perfect small hotel and a great location HOWEVER We were to return this last week. The hotel was closed. And they would not refund our money. They could not provide the service that we paid for. It cost us about $2500. This is wrong. If Hotel Familia changes their mind and at least gives us a voucher, I will happily change my review.
Loved the balcony and location. Quiet spot, but still nearby to many things.
The room was small but comfortable and the hotel's decor was pleasant. It was a bit noisy and there was a smell of smoking with the window open but conveniently placed
Не очень , побывал сын и говорит номер так себе на 3 , местоположение норм
The front desk was very helpful and friendly . Bathroom lighting can be improved . Not good for putting makeup on .
Very cute hotel. Hotel staff very nice and helpful! Good location, close to Metro and shops and restaurants.
The staff are good and friendly.
I know it’s Paris but the room was very small. Not totally clean in corners too. The 3rd bed (for our son) had giant sofa pillows but there was literally no where to put them... So we squeezed them under the bed. The only good thing was a bath. No coffee etc in the room. Lift was minuscule. I had paid upfront & was still charged for my room, which wasn’t my room the lady thought she heard 43 when in fact I had said 53 (3 times). I’m still waiting for this to be returned into my bank. :(
Very well situated little hotel right in the middle of the Latin quarter. A typical hotel of Paris , little rooms and tiny hallways. We had the 5th floor the first time which was not easy with all our luggage but offered rooftop views of Paris ! The second time we had the room on the ground floor which was bigger. Do check which level you are on if you are of a certain age with a lot of cases. The day staff were lovely and very helpful. They made our stay that little bit more personal .
Clean and comfortable with a cheap basic breakfast if needed. Very helpful receptionist, close to metro and Notre Dame.
VERY small rooms; loved the location; one staff person in particular was very friendly and helpful.
Perfect location, friendly staff, but room is very small and furniture is very old.
The location, the staff and the room all exceeded expectations.
This hotel is in a great location. Room size- very small.
The day staff was exceptional! Them and the breakfast made this stay great. We LOVED the breakfast and coffee! The evening/night staff (male with glasses) is not helpful at all. We needed toilet paper so he went to their lobby bathroom and grabbed a roll with hardly any left to give us. Other than that, the room was small but perfectly manageable. Clean. The view was wonderful. The beds were very uncomfortable and had imprints (or huge dip) that made you sink in the middle but we were so tired from traveling it only bothered us as we tried to fall asleep. All in all, I wouldn't say I wouldn’t stay here again but I may consider another place to see if we could get a better stay.
Location good. VERY THIN walls and the neighbors were terribly loud with noises related to sexual activity that eent in MANY times during our stay. Made for a very uncomfortable stay for us! The WiFi very weak and hardly useful. LOOK ELSEWHERE.
Good neighborhood and location. Nice hotel. Very helpful staff.
The first floor room for 3 guests was excellent. The fourth floor room for 3 guests was way too small.
Very good hotel location. Convenient to move around the city. Friendly staffs!
This hotel needs new linens on the beds. Updated/clean carpets Generally needs to be updated throughout Old, musty, outdated Staff was nice in general
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms. I loved the old-fashioned decor and the tapestries on the walls, great atmosphere. Very reasonably priced.
Pleasant stay. Central position in Paris. But very much sound between the rooms.
,Very outdated, walls are thin, very small rooms if you stay within a day that is fine, but if more, then this is not ideal
Room was quite small but we knew that going in. Bathroom was very nice.
Great location! Short walk to Notre Dame and the St Michel -Notre Dame metro station. However, the bathroom shower tiles need a good scrubbing, however. We skipped the breakfast as there is a bakery directly across the street and numerous markets nearby. The rooms are small but this is worth it for the price and location.
Great spot, lovely staff and good size rooms for somewhere so central. Can’t wait to go back 🤗
We have stayed in 2 star hotels before in France and they were excellent. We were a little disappointed when we saw our room. It was not the size, as we expected a small room, it was the carpets which looked at least 30 years old !! The bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable with good linen. We would not stay again even though the staff were very pleasent.
An excellent Left Bank location, 10 minute walk to Notre Dame, small rooms overlooking busy street, MANY nearby restaurants (we ate Turkish and Indian), good continental breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, very close to Metro.
Great location, walk to Notre Dame, many Cafe's and attractions. Staff super nice. All good things.
This hotel was centrally located near a lot of landmarks that made it easy to walk everyone. If you are looking for an inexpensive hotel near a lot of places, this is your hotel. Staff was super kind and helpful when needed. :-)
This hotel is wonderfully located in Latin Quarter, short walk to River Seine and 3 metro stations, on a street full of bookshops, with many cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as botanic gardens. The hotel is compact, with traditional decor, wall murals and tapestries but it also has an elevator, air conditioning in each room, and a vending machine which provides surprisingly good drinks, hot and cold. The service is warm, friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfast is generous and delicious. Our small attic room had french doors to its own balcony, from which you could see and hear Notre Dame cathedral.
Hotel is in a great location within walking distance of many major sites of Paris (minus the Eiffel Tower). Rooms are tiny, but that was expected as per the hotel photos. A comfortable bed and a good night's sleep after a whirlwind day of sightseeing. Staff was pleasant.
I would recommend to others to book a room overlooking the street - not much more expensive but would make it a better experience.
We loved this place. The room decor was very modern with interesting lights and features. The front desk guy was so nice and helpful. Eager to help with anything we asked: Restaurant recommendations and even lent us a corkscrew and wine glasses and stored a bottle of wine in their frig to chill it for us. Nice location as well. Breakfast was good too (aren’t they all in France?!)
Good area with many cafés and restaurants. 5 to 10 min walk to Metro stations. Very small room, not so comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Good staff. Good price
Despite small quarters(we are in France!) this is a great location and the hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Close to Metro and Notre Dame/Seine, so close to many places. Lots of cafes and Boulangerie/patisserie nearby. Yum!
We spent 1 night in Hotel Familia. It is in a great location. Less than 5 minutes walking to Notre Dame. Lots of resturants and bars nearby. Close to the metro and a safe neighborhood. The staff was professional and friendly. The room was quite nice considering it is a 2 star hotel. The air conditioning was great.
Staff very helpful and made every effort to facilitate any requests .Interior 'tired' but compensated by great location and affordability .Would use Hotel Familia again .
Hotel Familia is a lovely little hotel in the Latin Quarter. It’s nothing fancy and the rooms are small. Mary Magdalena at the front desk is SO helpful with directions, metro, etc I loved my start there!
Great location; great price; the hotel has character
I don't understand why it is a 2 star....yes, the rooms are small..but it is Paris!..everything (except the Louvre) is small...flower shops, restaurants, cafes. The rooms are an 'enough' size..you aren't in them that much except to sleep. The bathroom is nice and clean; the sheets are wonderful, the windows open a marvelous street view or a court yard.It is a perfect location for the Latin Quarter and Metro and buses everywhere! The 7 Euro b'fast is a lot! and cute little area with nice table settings and lovely lady to serve you. The desk people are SO helpful and thoughtful. And the price is right!!!!!! Charming and welcoming!!
Pictures were nothing like the room. The rooms were tiny broken pieces. The pictures showed us a balcony the room with the balcony was unavailable so the staff told us too bad . We ended up not staying and they were reluctant to refund us our money. The chairs in the lobby were dirty and outdated. Horrible experience!
A wonderful hotel with friendly staff and clean rooms locatated within walking distance of the river, Notre Dame, Pantheon. Rooms are small but lovely. 5 minute walk to plenty of restaurants and cafes. Perfect place to stay and explore Paris.
Convinient location, close to city historical center
We loved the location! The room was small as expected, but the bed was very comfortable. The staff was excellent.
The reception at the hotel Familia is great. They make you feel part of the family. The hotel is within walking distance to the Seine, many restaurants and excursions in Paris . The room was small but everything is there. We would definitely go there again.
Love the location...small rooms but comfortable.
This is an inexpensive hotel in a good location. The room has kept a more authentic french charm, while it still has air conditioning and a renovated bathroom. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. Only a block away from the metro, it is a convenient location to get around Paris. A roman arena, now a park, is tucked away just a few blocks away.
Helpful staff, good area close to Notre Dame, extremely small room, no coffee or ice in room, no fridge, small elevator. Overall it was ok, nothing special but acceptable.
It's a 2 star hotel and so expectations were met. Staff helpful ( Nicholas) and night staff as well. Yes a great location
Hotel is very tired looking and is need of updating. I'm not sure why previous reviews have been so positive, especially given the price can be up to €130 per night. Even if it was at their lowest advertised price of €68 per night I would not stay here. Pillows are hard, walls are very thin and therefore noisy. For the money, this is not worth it. Only positive was the location.
A reliable budget choice. Rooms are tiny (on my regular business trip I probably wouldn't have been able to fit in there with my two suitcases, but so are many in much more expensive hotels in Paris. En-suite bathroom and cable TV with French and international channels. Beds are actually very comfortable (as someone with a bad back I can appreciate it). The decor is simple but has some charm, unlike many anonymous budget hotels. Everything is well taken care of and very clean. It would help to have a small fridge as well as a tea kettle in the rooms. There is an elevator, which helps with luggage. Personnel is friendly and helpful. They can arrange an airport shuttle van which costs about half of the taxi cost--idea for one person. Wi-Fi in my room was reliable--no complaints there. The best thing about the hotel is the location, next to many subways and several metro (Cardinal Lemoine, Jussieu & a bit further but still within walking distance, Maubert Mutualite). Close to Cluny and easy access everywhere. I'd stay there again & would recommend it to friends who are independent travelers.
Super friendly staff in a great location. Value hard to beat would absolutely recommend to anybody.
The hotel is close to the River and the cathedral . I went to the train station Gare Lyon by foot also. The room has a balcony , with great view. The front desk is helpful when I ask for directions.
