Incredible situation in a forest with views across the lake. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Food was great. Did a morning walk with Lucky fantastic. Interesting drive to get there.
Probably needs a bit of TLC here and there.
The breakfast was good. The location is exceptional it’s really peaceful and beautiful.
The bathroom had an unpleasant smell @ room 205
The staff were very helpful, friendly and went out of their way to assist us on anything. The food were also very nice and tasty.
The rooms itself needs a little work/upgrade. The bedding had a smell to it and the shower was not clean according to me. It had dirt marks on it which I could scrape off… Unfortunately we could also hear all noises and sounds from the room next to us. For the price you pay this was not a 4 star worthy room.
Everything, the staff were fantastic. The food was great.the location was ideal and the whole experience from start to finish was exceptional
We expected more opportunities/explanation on the activities available and how to maximise the time..Admittedly we were only there for a short stay but the one activity we did want to do it was unavailable.
The place is beautiful but the staff’s behaviour was terrible . Will definitely tell my family members and the peace I know to never set foot in that place! The whole weekend that was stayed was terrible
My daughter organised a weekend away for us as an Anniversary gift . I regret why I went to waste my time there. They was lots of noise from kids who were running around and giggling. We only received breakfast once during our stay . I had to demand starters , lunch and supper. My daughter told me she has paid for those things I shouldn’t worry about it. And printed for me things she paid for and activities to be done for a day . Massage the lady told us we were late yet they knew we had to go for boat ride early in the morning. I’m still in shock but the treatment we received as if we ddnt pay . My husband ended up paying himself again for us to see Animals . When we came back they told us supper is finished. Staff members brought their kids and they were causing alot of noise . I AM DEFINITELY NOT COMING BACK and will tell the people that I know not to .
Ohhh!!! I can go on the whole day. The staff, the food, the location, the ferry ride. It was top tier. Loved everything about our stay. They made my Husband’s birthday so extra special. This place will always have a special place in my heart. Big ups to Vincent, Lucky and Ntokozo.
De cabins zijn prachtig; de plek is magisch. De boottour is fantastisch: de 3-hour drive een beetje veel drive voor paar groepen met flamingo’s.
The property is beautiful and I loved the boardwalks through the forest. The staff was very helpful, professional, and friendly - they went out of their way to accommodate me as a vegetarian and the chef made a delicious curry even though it wasn't on the menu. Thank you for the lovely stay!
Beautiful location. Attentive and friendly staff. Amazing bird life and birding guide. Good options for activities. Very relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful decor.
The external environment of the lodge, needs a little TLC.
The food was delicious
The property is now old it needs major renovation, we were even scared to walk upstairs.
The place was ideal for the Celebration
Geckos in the room
Sibekezelo Msezane who works in the restaurant and bar is the absolute best. Very attentive, friendly and always paying attention to details. NIBELA lake lodge can be proud with her in the team. Also the drive (and boattrip) with Vincent was very good.
NA
A sublime setting, true paradise and so relaxing. Yet the staff really stole the show. So helpful, kind and so willing to accommodate us. Thank you team Nibela. You are amazing.
Lake, water and birds seeing
Bathroom too old school. Gravel to the place is too bad and long.
We enjoyed the lake views from the dining area
The lake view from our room was not visible because of grown trees, also pity that we didn’t have electricity on Saturday, and network signal was on and off☹️
Amazing views. Perfect place to relax.
Walkway at night is a bit scary
The views
Too many snakes and geckos
The infrastructure, the place itself, cleanliness and the staff was very kind. The food was also very good! The chefs are good!
They didn’t have most of the services available, we were so disappointed. We couldn’t do activities that needed us to outside the lodge because all their cars were not available, that was really not nice,to have travelled all the way only to stay inside the lodge for 3 nights not doing much. The only activity we were able to do was the boat cruise, we had our picnic cancelled because there was no car to take us to the forest and some other activities we couldn’t do as well. Also most of the things including certain food and some things from the massage spa were not there “out of stock” . A lot of services weren’t available during our stay and we still had to pay full price for the place,no compensation no nothing. One of the activities that the place says to be offering is the Hluhluwe Mfolozi game drive, only to find out that when you get there you need to use your own vehicle to drive to Hluhluwe Anew hotel so to be able to go to the game drive, that’s so inconveniencing! That place is 1 h30 min close to 2 hours on gravel road and how can you expect guests to drive themselves back to Hluhluwe for a game drive after having advertised that you offer such an activity, I really found that one very inconvenient and not well catered for. Lastly I really think the place was not really value for money based on my experience.
location is absolutely phenomenal, what a hidden gem. The room was perfect. The food was great but I was disappointed with the dessert. I am someone with a very sweet tooth but the dessert was not good at all.
the dessert was not good at all.
Luxury deep in the heart of Isimangaliso Nature Reserve. Our Sobenghu Chalet 112, is very close to the water, but surrounded by thick bush through which you can see the lake. Hippos were in the water. Love the silence and the feeling you are really immersed in undisturbed nature. Getting there involved driving on 20+km of gravel road from the R22 though the Zulu Tribal land area towards the lodge. The road was affected by the recent rains and some parts were covered with water. Though we were in a high clearance vehicle, we saw many small vehicles negotiating the road both to the lodge and to the communities who live in the area. Mbuso and team from Nibela lodge organised for a driver and vehicle to meet us at the beginning of the gravel road to lead us to the lodge. We appreciated this gesture very much. Friendly and accommodating staff. Though we were booked in a self catering chalet, we made use of the restaurant during our stay for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We enjoyed our stay at Nibela hideaway!
Nature and the lake is giving luxurious views.
They’re was a bit of a back and forth for the ferry transfer, but we came to agreement to be picked up by car, since it had rained and the roads to the lodge are for 4X4
The place is nice once you get there! It's at the heart of nature with bushes and a pristine lake view. The rooms have good space, and they're secluded and spotless. They have a very nice boat cruise with an excellent guide on the lake. The food was also very nice.
The dirt road to get to the actual resort is quite long - we spent about an hour getting to the location after leaving the tar road. The description does not clearly state the dirt road. It is quite a bad dirt road, especially if you're using a small car. The spa only has one therapist, meaning that we couldn't enjoy a couples massage; one had to wait for the other. They also don't have some of the activities that they have advertised on their description like quad bikes as well as mountain bikes. They're quite expensive with the things that they sell at the resort, a standout for me was a can of Coke for R40 😮! The place is nice, however, it will take me a very long time to go back to this location.
I recently spent a weekend at this resort and had a mixed experience. The location itself is absolutely stunning—beautiful views, peaceful surroundings, and a real sense of escape from the everyday. The staff were all very friendly and genuinely eager to help, which I appreciated.
However, there were some key areas that need improvement. Unfortunately, about half of the activities that were advertised weren’t available during our stay, which was disappointing as they were a big part of why we chose this resort. It would be helpful if availability was made clearer ahead of time or updated regularly. The resort also seems to be in need of a bit of maintenance—some of the facilities felt a little worn and could use a refresh. Additionally, while the staff were kind and willing, it was clear that a bit more training could help improve the overall service experience, especially when it came to organization and communication. All in all, the setting and atmosphere have great potential, but a few improvements would go a long way in creating a more seamless and satisfying guest experience.
Beautiful surroundings, quiet, great meals excellent friendly staff !
We really enjoyed our stay
Nothing
My wife and I went to Nibela for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we could have made. Everything from the moment we got there worked like a well-oiled machine. The extremely friendly staff pick you up at the False Bay wetlands reserve and you go on a 20 minute boat ride to the resort which is tucked away, so it is very private. You feel completely immersed in nature. It is calm and quiet and you mostly listen to the sounds of birds and bigs chirping away. Our room was immaculate, very clean and very well organised. Our guide, Lucky, was an absolute treat. He catered to our every whim and he really delivered. We managed to see both a hippo and a crocodile as well as all sorts of wildlife and footprints on various walks we did. If ever we get the chance, we will be returning for sure. Thank you to the staff for making our honeymoon so special!
I loved everything about the place. The staff were friendly, the place is beautiful and clean. The food was delicious. It is one of the top places in KZN and a place to be if one wants a relaxed environment and seeing the beauty of nature. What makes the place to be exquisite is seeing the lake view from your room. Talking about the boat cruise, I enjoyed it, I am definitely coming back.
Our room was facing the lake 109 very nice and big.however the master bed air con was not working otherwise everything was superb and the long gravel drive to lodge was hectic but the lodge and wonderful staff mluh and sis D at front desk ngubane the guides very welcoming
Air corn not working Dinner mushroom pasta tasted horrible
Breakfast was so delicious, and lodge is at the right location there’s peace
Breakfast was so delicious but on the second there was no bacon but they tried to replace with mushrooms which we didn’t enjoy. We will appreciate if you will build the road to the lodge. Should clarify to some staff members about the menu for all inclusive packages.
Everything! All staff was amazing and lodge is beautiful
Nothing
Place is beautiful
Bedding was dirty; there were centipedes in the room and I’m scared of them.
Waterfront
Aircon old and make too much noise
Amazing staff, amazing food, chef is a legend! Amazing room and facilities!
Drinks were unreasonably expensive, that was our only negative
Tranquil. Friendly staff. An all round wonderful place
Everything was perfect.
Tranquil and Serene
Massage wasn’t available on Friday 😏I didn’t see that on the online price list. I would have arranged or been aware …
Staff very friendly and helpful Breakfast and Dinner excellent
food service was too slow, especially breakfast.
The location
Room cleaness and the was no handwash and lotion , limited towels. Breakfast did not cater for my toddler after i told them im coming with toddler . A lot need to be done to leave property on 5stars
We felt at home from the get go. From the beautiful room and views, to the food, friendly staff and plentiful activities available, my partner and I loved every moment. We fell in love and were sad when our vacation was over. We feel super relaxed and learnt the art of doing nothing. Will definitely be back!
That our vacation ended!
We had nice braai with the whole family and the place was very nice.
Selfcaring part was perfect.
I liked everything it is so cosy and private.
None.
Food was good
Staff service was very poor 👎
Stunning location !
The food was mediocre, a fair number of dishes on the menu were unavailable as they had no stock.
Friendly staff
Gravel is quite lengthy getting to the property. It was too easy to find lizards and geckos in the room, so would not recommend for people who do not love love the outdoors
The room was lovely, and Nibela Lodge is very well situated, albeit quite a difficult drive to ge there.
Snacks and drinks on the trip Someone to help with the luggage The Pathways are dangerously slippery when wet.
Peach and nature
Food was not good at all
The rooms were very nice although very old.
The entire staff compliment were not trained very well at all. This certainly needs attention from management! The food was mediocre & presentation of the meals was very basic. There were three of us and the main purpose of our visit was to relax as well as to do two of the activities on offer - the croc & hippo cruise one evening & the owl & bush baby night walk. We were told it was too windy for the night walk although it really wasn’t & then were advised that the croc & hippo cruise was only for four or more people. Very disappointing especially when that was one of the reasons for our stay and the fact that when booking our stay, I confirmed that we wanted to do the cruise and were not advised at that stage that it would not be possible for just three people!
The long drive on the gravel
Peaceful and with nature. Beautiful location.
The road to the resort was a hard drive with a car.Need a SUV.
We loved the location, the serenity and privacy of it. We also liked the fact that there were walks. The food was fantastic. The room's furnishings were modern and the view out of this world.
Everything
Everything was perfect
The views are lovely over the water
The food was very average
The property was very clean. Very peaceful, worth an escape from the city life. The food was nice and freshly prepared and the staff were amazing big ups to them.
Our toilet was leaking a bit which is something they can fix. The gravel road is messy when it’s raining.
Everything was amazing peaceful and tranquil
We had a wonderful stay, management and staff were so nice and kind to us. The rooms are to die for and they serve very nice food. Big up to all the staff ♥️.
Food and staff were great, friendly and accommodating.
Very comfy and great stay. Beautiful location and Beautiful rooms. Food was very good.
Prices are tailored for overseas Guests. Music in bar / dining hall not suited to the enviroment ( Rap music )
The tranquility was the best. The food served when booked into the lodge is quite impressive.
