We stayed at the Marine view for 10 nights. First impressions the hotel seemed a bit tired and in need of some TLC, however the staff were accommodating and helpful and the hotel was in a good location with easy access to the main attractions. The area may seem a little sketchy at first but we had no issues walking about. The restaurant served very nice food the price was inline with other prices in the area. The pool area was quiet and we often felt it was our own private pool, Overall a good experience, I would recommend it for travellers on a budget or single travellers who want to stay central to the action. A few recommendations I would politely request are; 1. The rooms have a bin, there was only one in the bathroom. 2.Kettle with cups 3. Iron 4.regular fresh towels
None of the equipment in the room works - TV, WiFi bathroom light. All not working. :-(
I’ve found a hotel that provides exceptional hospitality and makes me feel warm and welcomed. The staff at The Marine View Hotel has done an excellent job in creating a positive and memorable environment for me to become a regular guest over the years whenever I visit Jamaica. Being loyal guest at The Marine View Hotel have its perks, such as receiving personalized service, special discounts, or even room upgrades. It's great that you've found a place that suits all my needs. I Enjoy and I will continued stays at The Marine View Hotel!
I think “ok” is the best word to describe it. If you have activities planned in Ocho Rios it’s an ok place to sleep.
The staff was friendly and it was close to the town. My room was cleaned everyday. The amenities was very limited and the dining was poor.
It was very good I enjoy myself the only thing I didn’t like was the wasn’t open at night time
Convenient location for everything. Good price. Water pressure is very low. AC units are ok. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall for the price it is a nice place
The staff was very professional, the receptionist lady along with yves security guard who worked that night. She was very helpful
Rooms are clean and spacious. The property itself needs some work.
Enjoyed my visit and had no issues. Room and pool clean. Quiet. For the money was great and will return. If you want fancy go to the resorts... If you want nice ppl and are on a budget this is fine! Common sense keeps you safe.
No internet in the room. No tour informations. Very simple and local hotel.
3 different internet connections and 2 of the three SAY that they DO NOT WORK by saying NO INTERNET once connected, the water ran black out of the bathroom faucet, the A/C was nothing more than a corner cooler, ....... furthermore the refrigerator had to be plugged in to cool for an hour or more to be usable as well as the TV and cable box, not to mention the late in to the night BOOM boxing that thumped through the building till what seemed like 5am.
Unsure about how confirm dates, unsure about what rooms are open. they were pretty much unsure about everything.
The hotel could use a up grade in a the lobby and a face lift
Evwry morning waking up to the ocean view has me in awh.... i enjoyed the pool and the bar behind the hotel that was connected my husband and i went wvery night before bed. The location was very close to the market place ans quite a few restaurants.... long walks the marketplace kind of reminded me of NEW ORLEANS AT TIMES so it felt like home really
Old a/c. Too hot. Too far from downtown.
Unprofessional and rude manager. Very loud music and base until 3 am both nights! No chance to sleep. No security guard. Gate stayed open at night. No water at times. No wifi in room. Toilet broke. Ants in the bathroom. The neighborhood is scatchy and scary and there is not much to do within walking distance. Locals harass you on the premesis.
i went to check in at the marine view they told me that they did,nt have a reservation for me , my friend also make a reservation an they did,nt have one for her either we rent a room for the night because they where the cheapest what we see online the place is noting like that terrible
The water pressure was terrible and there was no hot water.
This hotel is a little worn but it was perfect for us. We wanted to explore downtown Ocho Rios and this was a good choice. I did laundry in our bathtub and hung the clothes out on the deck and didn't feel that the hotel would mind. Some people in our group enjoyed visiting with other travelers in the lobby area downstairs. The Wifi worked best in that area as well. The breakfasts were wonderful and served very quickly after we ordered. I liked that they served Jamaican breakfasts but I think they may have served other cuisine as well. The neighborhoods around this hotel seemed a little questionable so I didn't feel that I should leave valuables in the hotel. However, I enjoyed the short walk to the market area and felt reasonably safe in the blocks surrounding the hotel. I wouldn't recommend wandering around in the dark alone but I felt safe in a group.
Friendly staff, in the heart of the town, private. Great!!! I had a wonderful time, I would go back again. I stayed there almost a month, and I am going back again. I felt at home. Staff went out of there way to help me. I stayed in the pool a lot.
I went to this hotel in April of this year with my family. On the second day we went to the beach and on our return we noticed the door of our room wide open. It was not forced entry!!!!!!!My labtop and camera were stolen. No one accepted responsibility for the stolen stuffs. In addition, management has several signs around stating that they are not responsible for whatever losses their guests experience. That is something that I regretted not paying attention to on arrival. I terminated my stay immediately. I watched my daughters cried their hearts out because they had started to enjoy themselves but I could not have stayed there after such a terrible experience. The cops were called in and they did their investigations but I learnt afterwards that theft and having one's room broken into is a common thing at the Marine View Hotel. Apparently, they seem to do a good job of covering this up. When I mentioned the review done by "upsett" to the workers they claimed that those people were lying. I beg to differ. Those who feel it know it!Though a low income place to stay...one might just end up losing far more than one would have paid or bargained for had one decided to stay at a five star hotel!!! However, should you decide to brave it, my advice to you is to be extremely and I mean extremely careful.
Actually I was checking fb to see if Marine View have a page, because I once was a neighbor of Mr. and Mrs. P. Respect to the Mosquito family.....Now straight to the matter, yes you have to have some ragga muffin in you to do a lot of the lower priced hotels in Ja. but what really get me is when people say things like "I'm a nurse and you have to be clean", thats a lie if I ever herd one. I personally know a nurse who is the nastiest person I have ever known, CHURCH! baby. I wouldn't place my purse or sit in this persons place, would wait outside. So let's keep it real, if you don't like the place, you don't like the place, but leave your career out of it. The only thing I would suggest for people like that is go where your money spend with the big profession, but believe me sweetie, you can find nasty in nice places too.....A professional person that lives like a pig pin can bring bed bugs to an up scale hotel, so be careful what you say and criticize. You may go home with bed bugs next time.
my friends and i stayed there and we got robbed!!!!! yes robbed, someone used a key to open the door while we were out and stole all our money, some jewelry, and a cell phone and the only thing management could say to us is did u read the sign on the back of the door the room which stated(management will not be responsible for the lost of any personal valuables....sign management.) that's some b.s. there's a lot more to the story, but that's all i can say for now!!.....don't go there people, just don't!!!!!!
If you are looking for a nice and clean place with few money, you find the right place. I took cheapest room and it was clean. I will be back again. Sabrina - Italy
I love this place my kids had a fun time in the pool while i was listening to some music by the bar relaxing...In the night i would have a drink at the glow in the dark bar at the hotel so cool...It was walking distance to everywhere the club, shopping, swimming, the market etc...I'm going back for sure jamaica jamaica
I can handle run down and in need of repairs. I CAN'T handle DIRTY, UNCLEAN CONDITIONS. My husband is Jamaican and we return annually for family visit/vacation. I have been going for 12 years and he since he moved to the states in the 80's. I am a registered nurse and cleanliness is my top priority especially when travelling with children. Community acquired infection is a growing concern. This place upon driving up appeared to be satisfactory but then things changed dramatically. We were touring the island and it was very late and needed a place to lay our heads for the night. The first room had a flying cockroach (i didn't know they grew that big). We consisted of 2 adults and 2 boys (9 & 6) and slept crossway in a double bed <I can handle that...no problem>. I asked for 2 more pillows for the boys and they say they don't have any..... not even a blanket to roll up as a pillow. The room was run down and in need of several repairs but not a major issue. THE BATHROOM HADN'T BEEN CLEANED. YOU COULD SEE WHERE THE TILES IN THE SHOWER AND BY THE SINK HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED. I WORE MY FLIPS WHEN I SHOWERED & TOOK MY CHILDREN TO THE RIVER TO AND BATHED THEM WITH MY HUSBAND. The next morning we walked to Percy's for breakfast. The food was good but I recommend walking a little further to town and eating at Mom's. We have eaten there many times. The food is even better and you get more food and it costs less than at Percy's. When we returned to our room it had been (so-called cleaned) she placed the towel i used on the floor to step out of the shower back on the towel rack "YUCK"!!!!! Again she didn't clean the tiles. My shampoo and stuff had leaked in my ziplock bag (so when sat in the shower it left rings. My husband told the cleaning lady that we were checking out so she could clean it for the next guest and she said she was finished cleaning and it was fine. I am so sorry for the next guest. "YUCK"!!!!! Rooms on the Beach is not to far away and it is very reasonabe and it includes a breakfast. The rooms are very clean and updated. It is nicely located to walk in town.
I have visited and stayed at the Marine View over 20 times. I love this place. Within walking distance of everything. Directly across the street from ocean. Nice pool. Good comfortable beds but no remotes for TV. Nice family owned property. Once I needed a dentist and the owners wife took time to call her personal dentist and make me an appointment. Leave your used reading materials for the lovely girls in the office - books, magazines etc. They will love you! When in Ocho Rios - check out Marine View!
IF you are looking for a budget hotell in Ocho Rios, this may be the place for you. It's old and tired and needs refreshing, but it's still clean and good enough, if you just want a place to sleep in.
