Breakfast was exceptional. I think the room was expensive as there was a fun family weekend in Hope cove going on, which we did not know about. For us it was the convenience of location as my husband was doing a charity walk from Dartmouth.

Unaware there was loud entertainment and it being very busy. Restaurant in particular was a bit crowded but the staff were impressively coping under the pressure.

Food. Not great: this is what let our stay down. When paying for a main meal where chips are an accompaniment, you don’t expect them to be frozen chips, in an establishment of this nature. You expect them to be fresh chips made from freshly cooked potato. If the food had of been better all round, from starters to puddings then I would have given a 9 / 10…Sorry, just being honest….Improve the food and presentation, better reviews will follow!!

Lovely location and very helpful friendly staff.

In someways it is an excellent location right next to the beach but the drive to it was a challenge, like all roads in Devon it’s not for the faint hearted. The air conditioning was welcome as we stayed during the heatwave!

Staff were all excellent, very chatty and smiling. The room was very comfortable and clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the meal we had in the evening and the breakfast was great.

Couldn’t figure out air con but opened windows which was fine. Obviously bit noisy as outside was busy but not at all rowdy. It was just families enjoying themselves. It didn’t disturb us and it was all quiet by midnight though and slept well.

staff were accommodating and we picked up the keys early so we could get to the event without worry of getting back in time, Room had AC which in the current temp was a surprise and a blessing. Hotel room itself was well decorated with good refreshments and a great bathroom .Breakfast was calm and enjoyable

I will say , the road in is a little tricky, but this is a fact of most of the roads in this county. once below the A 38 . So it's not something I will complain about but something to be aware of .

De manager deed geen moeite om probleem met airco op te lossen. Het was nochtans erg heet op die zolderkamer. Het jonge personeel was erg onvriendelijk. Tafels waren vuil en vettig.

The location in the heart of the village and so close to the sea make this one of the most pleasant stays anyone is likely to have

The room was gorgeous and the location is stunning and so convenient with beach on doorstep . All the staff we met were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to ensure a great stay - managing to find us a table for dinner at the restaurant at short notice on a busy weekend. Dinner and the breakfast were both delicious - all in all a fab stay highly recommend

The food was delicious. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were brilliant. Service was excellent,Lara was our server and she friendly and very efficient.

We love Hope Cove & have visited numerous times in last 10 years. Stunning location, the Hope & Anchor rooms are tastefully beautiful, lovely addition of Dry robes in room which are so handy & thoughtful.

Food was poor on this visit, with the exception of breakfast, which is always good. Staff are stretched & stressed which is apparent in their manner & approabn to guests.

Great location …staff were all very pleasant and accommodating…whilst food was a bit pricey (though no more than anywhere else in that area) it was very good ..cooked fish without batter when asked ..breakfast choices were superb (see photo of smashed avocado with feta)

No parking but car park adjacent and not too expensive (£12 for 24 hrs)

Residential areas such as corridors and our room were ‘tired’ & in need of redecoration.

The location on Hope Cove is perfect for a quiet scenic getaway. The hotel and staff were excellent. Really friendly and helpful and breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had! We didn’t bring our dog but we could have and there was lots of doggies enjoying the beach first thing in the morning and at night and very close to the coastal path. Beautiful sunsets and delicious food in the restaurant.

Nothing really only if you come at the weekend you may struggle to find a parking space in the public car park next to the hotel…and if you do there is nowhere else to park.

Location couldn’t have been better - right by the beach. Food excellent and staff really helpful.

Having to pay for parking - but, given the central location in a very old village, it was understandable. Only way to improve it would be a discount for residents as opposed to day trippers.

We stayed in 'our' room, number 16. Wonderfully comfortable, great view, spacious, everything we needed. Housekeeping were amazing, friendly and always going the extra mile for any needs we had. The breakfast was great. Good choices, although some days, certain elements/ingredients weren't always available but alternatives always offered. Lovely Natalie served us most mornings and was an absolute delight. Dog bowls and treats available for 4 legged friends.

On busy days, tables took a little while to get cleared and a wipe down would have been of benefit, but other than that, no issues to be raised.

Few things like the service at our evening was poor . They had no reservation for us despite me booking it through Booking. Com . Cleanliness of bar and restaurant wasn't great. But was a lovely location. And would visit again.

Die Lage direkt am Strand, der Pub, der Sonnenuntergang,…es war seeehr warm, so dass wir gut eine AC hätte gebrauchen können, damit man hätte schlafen können … ist aber ja nicht typisch für die Lage des Hotels. Topp Frühstücksservice!!!

The food and cleanliness of the bar/restaurant was substandard.

Vicino al mare, con una cena e colazione molto amplia anche per i celiaci. Il letto era molto grande e il bagno spazioso a sufficienza.

The window did not shut properly so when other members of the public were outside it was like they were in the room. This interfered with are sleep. The pub food in the evening was fair but my wife's meal presentation was very poor

The restaurant was the problem: slow service and small portions for a big price. It took an hour before our breakfast order arrived. Even longer for supper.

We were given the wrong room,the one we initially paid for was more expensive and spacious than the one we were given,it seems the key numbers 6 and 9 were mistaken for each other. We were told by the manager who was very helpful and polite that they couldn’t refund the difference in house but the brewery who own the hotel/pub had been informed and would refund the difference but 2 plus weeks later have not been in touch.

Carpets were very dirty in the hallways and room was dark. It had a slanted ceiling so had to be careful not to bang your head. Room overlooking next door rooftop bar so had to keep curtains closed.

Location is stunning. The outdoor area's make the most of the views. The rooms have thoughtful extras on a level with a 5 star hotel. The staff did an amazing job on a flat out bank holiday weekend.

Upon arrival this time, there was an issue with our room due to booking.com mixing up the rooms... but the wonderful manager sorted it all out for us. 😊 We loved the absolutely beautiful room, with stunning views.

Beautiful hotel in central location. Everything was perfect including the welcome by the hosts. The breakfast was gorgeous and outstanding but the coffee was the best, great!

When did we let dogs take over? People feeding their dogs in the restaurant and on the table. Really?

The rooms were beautiful and amenities were generous. The breakfast was great.

When we arrived, the bar was incredibly busy and there wasn't a member of staff to help us check in. Staff were apologetic about this but we were waiting a while. There didnt seem to be anyone dedicated to hotel guests. When we were taken to our room, we were a little surprised as it didn't look like the photos on booking.com. We thought we had booked a room with a large window, window seat, and sea view. The room had a tiny window and no seat by it and the room was dark. When I queried this with reception, they said they use stock images which represent all the 'types' of rooms i.e. sea view rooms and only the nicest ones are shown on booking.com. What's a shame is that our room was still beautiful and a lot of thought was put into the amenities in the room. If we had known what we were expecting, we would have been thrilled! But we felt disappointed because the room was so much smaller and different to the images online. We would recommend others staying, but just bare in mind that the room might look different to what you expect.

The staff were friendly and were always working hard to keep everyone happy. The view from the room was lovely. The bed was large and comfy and the shower was spacious.

The room was a little grubby. There were dirty hand marks on the wall the bathroom had some dirty/broken tiles. There were lots of paint chips. The carpet looked a little old and dirty. The parking is a bit of pain at an extra £10 for 24hrs.

Service and food were good, if you do not like dogs this is not the place for you. Views wew excellent, staff were helpful and freindly, every time you ordered food you were asked if you have any alergies.

No chair in room. No bedside light switch next to bed turned on main light. Council car park was ten pounds per night.

I messaged the property on Booking.com a month before our stay to make a dinner reservation and request oat milk for the room. I had no reply and didn’t realise it till booking in and they couldn’t find my dinner reservation. The lady at reception was so nice and booked me a table even though they were very busy. When I had worked out the mix up I explained about the unanswered request. Not sure why the hotel didn’t receive or didn’t reply to my request so I hope they look into it.

Too many dogs, especially in dining area. Feel dog owners need to be more considerate to non dog owners. Experienced a moment at breakfast when a number of dogs had a near altication and feel having too many dogs together is an accident waiting to happen.

Not for me, it was noisy, overrun by dogs generally and in all eating areas, no escape, a bit tired, and lacked the finesse that I'm accustomed to. I'll not return

I loved it here. Ive recently lost my husband and Abbie was the loveliest girl who checked me in. She gave me the warmest hug when some tears. And gave me advice where to watch the sunset and see the seals. She's an absolute gem. All of the staff were so friendly, you obviously treat them well as they look happy to be there. Perfect room and location and food was fab. Thankyou for helping my very sad time that little bit more bearable mostly because of the staff 💕

Friendly and accommodating staff, great food, nice touches like complimentary beers and dog treats and toys. Really not a bad thing to be said about our stay. We were travelling with our baby for the first time ever and they made this an easy experience.

It was difficult to work streaming to the television from our laptop; this was only an issue because we were travelling with a baby but just worth knowing. Otherwise it was absolutely perfect.

Room was larger than we expected with a partial sea view despite not booking a sea view. Very comfortable with lots of space. Dinner and breakfast were both lovely with plenty of choice, and all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. You can't really beat the location for coastal views and walking.

Wonderful location, close to the beach. Very warm; large bed; wonderful shower. Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff.

At this time of year you do spend a bit more time in the room and it was quite dark. Very dim lights made it hard to play board games or read books.
