Great breakfast and superb location

Some staff could have known a little more about the dishes being served

Location was lovely, the staff were very good; very old school and attentive. Room had a lovely view and a balcony.

Difficult to think o anything, may be the menu could be a little more varied and flexible (you were obliged to have 3 courses), also it was all a little expensive, but you don't mind paying more for good quality.

The meals were good value if a little traditional. The staff were very helpful and there was a nice ‘family’ atmosphere. Beautiful views from the property.

Parking and access were challenging due to the hillside location. Reserved parking spaces on the lower level appeared to be possible but we did not have this opportunity.m

Very scruffy common areas. Everything was old and the room was very dated with material worn and ripped on the bed base, very old fashioned bathroom and worn furniture. I expected better for over £200 per night.

Steep climb up from the beach

Location is lovely and staff where very nice.

The room with sea view was very small and the shower you could barely move in! It is a shame when you paid extra to get the view.

It is a very tired and run down hotel. It needs a complete overhaul to bring it into the 21st century! It’s dated, dark and depressing

Fantastic location with an amazing sea view. Would definitely take up the residents evening meal offer which was £22per person per night for up to four courses and the quality was exceptional. Breakfast was also very good and its nice to have a really good hot buffet selection as well as cooked to order if you prefer

The final few miles to Hope Cove is an absolute nightmare with very narrow roads admitted I was in a medium SUV but I could see from just the few days that we were in the area the amount of damaged and scraped cars so not just limited to Hope Cove. Of course this isn't the hotels problem but I think on balance this would put me off a return visit

We only stayed for one night, but had such a lovely time. We were in the newer extension and I was surprised at how lovely and large the room was. The beachfront views are spectacular! The staff were so kind and helpful, and made a fuss of my daughter who turned 11 while we were there. They left a decorative fruit platter in our room wishing her happy birthday, and placed little gold stars on our table for dinner and breakfast. It's a really wonderful property with incredible staff and we hope to return.

The menu is potentially a little outdated, and it would be lovely to have a coffee machine when breakfast is served in the restaurant.

Wonderful location with great sea view, charming, attentive staff and a delightful atmosphere.

Well situated atop Hope Cove. Great view from our room. Excellent service.

The public spaces were well worn, felt a bit funky and old timey.

Hotel is full of character but our bathroom was tired

Breakfast was very good, continental or english or a mix of both with plenty of choice. The location beautiful with harbour views and coastpath views from our balcony.

The location was fabulous and our room had a lovely view over the beach. The public areas were fabulous with old school charm and the staff were so chatty and attentive. If you’re expecting sleek and modern, it’s not for you but if you appreciate quirky and nostalgic. This is it!! Decor old school but very clean and comfy where it counts. We were there when the sun was shining so we were able to take advantage of the outdoor bar/ding deck area but I could imagine it being so cozy on a blustery day looking out at the sea and cliffs. Only a short stroll to a couple of pubs and cafes or to the South West coastal path with stunning views. We ate both nights in house (cheaper if you book ahead) and the food was exceptional. Tasty fresh and plenty of veg. A very unique experience made even more memorable by staying in this character filled accommodation. Definitely recommend!

The hotel was a very traditional country house hotel. The room and bathroom were very small, but we did have a nice sea view. It was cosy and comfortable and what we expected for an old hotel.

It could have done with updating, especially the dining room to bring it into the 20th century The very small bathroom which would have been impossible to get into if we had been larger people 🫤

What a fantastic British gem! Very traditional family run hotel, with the most spectacular views over Hope Cove. Nothing was too much trouble, the most friendly hotel staff we have ever encountered. Rooms are slightly dated, and some would see this as a negative, not us though, this hotel has real character. Worth paying extra for a sea view balcony. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Lovely traditional hotel

Staff at the hotel were exceptional, very attentive and helpful. William, Sarah and Neil lead the rest of the team and available to assist at any time.

We originally booked a cottage room which was quite small, the upgrade was worth the extra payment, fantastic views over the cove.

The location and parking were perfect. The balcony had a wonderful view, as did the dining room and terrace. The staff were very polite, very attentive and very discreet. Housekeeping were great too. The breakfast was very good, and the dinner inclusive option was extremely good value and of a high standard.

It was in a very good position with beautiful views of the sea and the beaches. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was good.

The room offered by Booking.com was very compact but had a nice view.

The views from the hotel were exceptional. The su sets and the dolphins especially. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The shower room refurb was lovely.

Great friendly staff, very kind and helpful people, and a welcoming LGBTQ+ friendly vibe. It was calm and joyful stay by the sea, surrounded by people who genuinely cared about me, even though I was just an ordinary guest. This is not just a hotel, it’s a hidden gem I feel lucky to have discovered. And when I come again to this area I’ll definitely choose to stay here. Neil, Sarah, William and others made the best possible impression on me and my friend I was staying there with. Hope Cove gave me such sweet and warm memories I will cherish to the rest of my life. My stay there was, the a way, a healing experience, so the place really lived up to its name :)

Vous serez obligé de dire non aux sollicitations du personnel !!

Rester une seule journée car road trip dans le Devon sud ! On reviendra pour un séjour plus long dans cet hôtel !!

All of the staff were amazing & very welcoming,couldn't do enough for us. Food fantastic good prices & big portions excellent value for money. The room was excellent too very clean & comfortable. Was lovely to totally relax as we had beautiful views & just a little walk to the beach. If your looking for a quiet, relaxing place I would highly recommend. We are already to book again.

Very lovely, friendly staff. All are extremely polite, welcoming and helpful. Shout out for Mike, for going the extra mile. Comfortable room. Excellent views. Plenty of food options and nothing too much trouble (I tested out the breakfast chef on that one). All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Breakfast was excellent. Good to see black pudding on the menu. The hotel had spacious public areas and a reassuring atmosphere- it seemed really long-established and skilled at hosting guests.

There was an annoying sound of an extractor fan in an adjacent room. I presume the occupants left the bathroom light on. I complained about it twice.

View from the balcony was stunning. Tea and coffee facilities in the room (although coffee was awful). Decent hairdryer and lots of mirrors. Great terrace for a beer /wine with a panoramic vista.

Zero soundproofing between rooms - we could hear every word our neighbours said, including their snoring at night!

Breakfast was freshly cooked and service was brilliant. Staff including manager and owner always on hand to attend to tables.

choices of breakfast was great, loads to choose from. Shower in our room was v efficient, hot and powerful. Staff all ultra helpful and went above and beyond for residents.

Our room 207, was small, we knew it was a 'standard' one, but the bathroom was tricky, and am surprised it met with regs.

This is an amazing hotel. Delicious food, thoughtful and friendly staff, beautifully furnished rooms, large carpark and stunning views. It also happens to be in one of the most beautiful parts of the country to explore. Definitely my favourite hotel.

Room was on the small size and a little tired.

Fantastic staff - could not do enough to ensure all guests enjoyed their stay. Brilliant sense of humour too! Abundance of food available. Beautiful views from the rooms, bar and restaurant. Warm bedroom. Very comfortable bed and pillows.

Shower took a LONG time to warm up (c. 2 mins) but not really an issue as we weren’t in a hurry! The radiator clonked throughout the first night as it heated up/ cooled down (room 205), so we turned it off the second night and had a peaceful sleep.
