Superb location with a quiet area Beautiful hotel Cosy clean rooms Excellent staff
We couldn’t stay longer
Dinner and breakfast fab. Bed was comfy
Room 40 was small, it was dingy and dark. The TV was basic The bed only a double. The wind was whistling around the room so noisy. It was the same price as Room 18 I'd stayed in 2 nights earlier and certainly not worth the same price.
The room was lovely, light and airy. The bed was very comfy. The TV had disney and Netflix. Dinner and breakfast fab

Clean, comfortable. Lovely location.
Nothing.
Location great and rooms were comfortable and even the cosy room was a good size

The location is good, around half a mile from the village. The property is very dog friendly.
One staff member was unfriendly and unhelpful. He might have been the Manager. I was told that if I didn’t gave my room cleaned, I could have a free drink each day. When I tried to redeem this, I couldn’t because I didn’t want the app. As a result my towels were not replaced, coffee etc not replenished and no free drink to boot. They also would not let me amend my booking (you can only do it 7 days before) and deals are available that I wasn’t informed about.
Everyone was friendly helpful and polite. Breakfast and dinner was plentiful and tasty. Room was spotless clean. Plenty of hanging and storage space.
No bedroom ceiling lights. Even with all wall lights and standing lights turned on, it was difficult to see things. Especially once curtains were closed and shelving are dark.
Generally speaking everything went very well and excellent location for rambling base.
Liked Everything
Excellent location friendly staff easy parking good breakfast
Evening meals very basic and of poor quality
The bed was most uncomfotable to hard the food was very poor had to send mine back as the fish was still frozen in the middle
Only 2 disabled bays so i had to keep dropping my wife off and picking her up by the main entrance
Hotel was clean, staff friendly & beds were comfy was nicely located, would definitely recommend.
Location
The location was good
Some of the staff were abrupt
Private swimming pool for families
Fabulous location - close to the village and lake. Loved the private lakeside beech and views. The Lounge looked like a fabulous place to chill, but we only found it just before we left.
nothing to dislike - we had a great stay
Everything the views the location the room the food the staff I could go on and on and omg the muscle in white wine sauce are like heaven
Nothing at all
Location excellent.. was .. Clean Warm And near the lake
Meals could have been bigger for the price Real fires 🔥 would have been nice , not poor electric ones
Very good selection. All options available
Nothing to comment on
Sehr gute Lage, große Zimmer, gutes Essen im Hotel Restaurant.
Breakfast amazing location brilliant
We don’t have dogs so this is based on that the dog smell in our room we didn’t like
Location is fantastic
Comfortable,
Everything was ok, no downside
Good location. Very dog friendly. Good breakfast choice. Helpful and friendly staff.
Shower not very good - low pressure and just warm. Reduced Sunday menu was not great.
The gardens and lakeside shelters
It was a little too warm
Locatie
Kamers waren verouderd
Locatie geweldig. Pand ziet er aan de buitenkant prachtig uit.
Badkamer oud, oubollig ook, geen airco, vieze vloerbedekking, bed hard.
Hotel was a bit dated but clean. Food and location were very good. Would go back again
Hotel was a bit dated
Excellent location and beautiful place will definitely stay there again
Nothing
Location and gardens Bedroom comfy. Plenty of parking. Staff friendly. Breakfast good.
Dinner on our first night was really bad. We ordered steak pie, mash and veg, which took an hour to arrive. The pie was rock hard. Completely dry inside with only a couple of bits of meat. Mash and veg were way too salty. I sent mine back. I was offered a salad or cheese board instead. I didn't eat. My husband ate the mash and 3 bits of meat as he needed to eat. We didn't eat there in the evening again. We were not the only people complaining. Felt understaffed.

Beautiful inn, nicely located near the lake and within walking distance of the town. Excellent breakfast, which we were able to enjoy in the stunning garden.
We felt that the check-in could have been slightly more welcoming.

The hotel was lovely and the location by the lake was beautiful.
There wasn't enough staff working in the hotel and I had to wait nearly half an hr for 2 poached eggs.
poor mattress
Location
Too hot in the rooms, beds not comfortable, not particularly clean, slow service and not that welcome, very basic food
A reasonable menu and quality, great location
Nothing stands out
Close to village but not in the heart so peaceful, friendly staff, calm surroundings with pleasant outlook
The rooms were great maybe need a little repair work in bathroom and a crack on the wall under window
Gorgeous views

everything about the hotel was brilliant.Staff were so helpful and pleasant. We will come back again, the shelters by the lake side and on the lawns showed attention to the comfort of all your guests...WELL DONE. The views around the Hotel are stunning in every direction.
Nothing.
Location
Indifference of some staff
Great location and views of Coniston. Food was great.
Location was excellent.
The heat in the room was unbearable!! And we had a dog with us! Even with a fan, it didnt make any difference and we were unable to open the windows. The rooms were dated and bathroom very basic for a very expensive stay! Well overpriced
We loved absolutely about this gorgeous hotel! It’s located in a perfect setting! Staff couldn’t be more helpful, room cleaned everyday to an excellent standard. We’ll be back!!
Plenty of choice
Nothing
The location was just right, 200 yards to the beach and lake and half a mile from the centre of town. A nice walk. Plenty outside tables and chairs
Food wasn't bad but could have been better. The room was very basic and a few small additions would make it better.
Good size room and bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Delightful location
Close access to the lake Very clean bar area and sitting area outside Multiple wooden huts to sit in outside is a lovely touch. Excellent staff , happy and helpful Dog friendly

Room described as cosy, don't think so
Great location and breakfast buffet was good, as were the staff. I would say the standard of rooms didn’t necessarily match what we’d paid, but aligns to the location and time of year travelling.
Rooms were a little dated
Beautiful lakeside quiet location
Rooms are a little bit dated in terms of decor and the breakfast (for the price of the hotel) could’ve been of higher quality
Good location, next to the Coniston Water, but not too far from Coniston itself. Sufficient parking, very good rooms, breakfast.
It was convenient
Breakfast was poor and the stay was over priced.
Great location and food
Breakfast was superb - a fantastic selection of food and drinks. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location, cleanliness, food & drink
They had air conditioning which was very much needed but the system was very intermittently noisy
The area is lovely and the bed was comfy
The food was diabolical and staff were not as friendly as I'd expect
The location was perfect walking distance for most things. Staff accommodating and helpful.
Sewage smell in the garden. We up graded to an superior room sadly was too hot even with a fan. We experienced a false fire alarm, no explanation given. Windows could not be opened wide due to a locking system. The soap dispenser is placed to high and when used it squirts out on your clothes rather than your hands. The shower mat was black dirty underneath a handle is required for safe exit of the shower. The waste in the bath was very slow to drain you ended up standing in water ! We experienced a 2 day internet failure. Purchasing of drinks and food had to be cash only. Who has cash these days? We had to go back into the town for drinks even when the weather was so hot ! Our stay was for 4 days they couldn't even add the purchase to our room. It was my husband's birthday and he had a voucher for a free drink again this could not be used ! A disappointing stay in a beautiful location
The helpfulness of the manager, I was given an apology and a full refund after complaining about the poor quality of the room. The hotel is also set in a beautiful location though some way out of Coniston.
The room at the front of the hotel was uncomfortably warm with no air flow. During the evening I had to prop open the room door to let some air in. The radiator and the floor next to it were warm to the touch. Paint on the windowsill was cracked. In the restaurant people were being told (at 7.30pm), 'it's an hour wait for the food'. The Coniston is part of a group and the owners need to take a serious look at themselves and invest in bringing these rooms up to standard. As it stands they shouldn't be letting them out at all.
Breakfast was fair
Buffet style hot food. Stayed in Commissioners Quay, which was very good. So expectations on Coniston Inn was high.
The location and scenery were fantastic. And overall I feel we got value for money.
There was a strong smell of sewage which was evident outside the hotel and sometimes inside. I don’t know if this was beyond the hotel’s control but it wasn’t entirely welcoming!
It is a beautiful inn in a beautiful location. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was great!
Our room was extremely hot (under the roof). It only had a very small window that you could barely open. So there was no way to cool the room at night. The only solution was a very old fan. The bathroom was also very basic. Overall we would expect a bit more for such an expensive room.
The building and grounds are stunning. The few staff on site were exellent. The bed was comfy.
22 minutes to get a pint because of one bar staff and a huge amount of people. The room was unbearable due to the temperature, the fan was practically useless. It was far too hot! No check out, no invoice given, due to a system fault.
Views Grounds Setting Meals & Drinks all excellent
price
Stunning setting, perfect for setting out each day to explore
Where it is
I thought the breakfast was a bit lukewarm. Warm plates might help
Everything, the room, the staff, the food and choice of food, set in a fantastic setting,it's my third time here I love it
Nothing
The land and environment the premises were located in.
It's too tired and not upkept as expected. No toiletries or extra treat provided. Food the price you pay you'd expect more!! The toilet flush was three worst I'd ever seen, nightmare! Stinky smell in middle of the green land; I suppose it was the Waste Management facilities, not a nice thing to encounter when walking about on the land.
Location Food
Lack of air conditioning
Idyllic setting and gardens. Our room was clean and had aircon definitely a bonus in the summer. Was a good sleep.
For a 4 star hotels the rooms were aging and needed refurbishment- cracks in the wall and outdated furniture that didn’t suit the character of the building. Was very basic no fridge, TV was only, in 2026 would expect smart TVs.
Fantastic location
Room was extremely hot even with a fan
Fabulous staff. Loved the room. Food was awesome. Easy walk into coniston village
Great location. Lovely grounds
Nothing particular
The hotel is beautiful, quiet, and relaxing with absolutely stunning grounds leading to the lake . Staff were lovely and we had glorious weather which made it perfect.
Nothing .
The location and the breakfast 😋
The heat in the room, the fact that we paid a good price for the room and we were offered a drink instead of the room being serviced. Give it on the house and I told them it was my birthday and nothing was offered.
Loved the location, the warm welcome from all the staff, the room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The dogs we're treated well, being allowed in to all areas
Nothing really
I had a lovely stay at the Coniston Inn. I had a room with a mountain view as requested. The staff had kindly left a fan running as my stay was during a heatwave which helped make the room cool and comfortable. The room was clean and cosy and the hotel was quiet at night so made for a good nights sleep! I had dinner at the Inn which was lovely and served quickly. The staff were all very friendly and very happy to help. The grounds have beautiful views and i enjoyed walking down to the lake. There were loads of parking spaces.
I have nothing bad to say.
Good location, pleasant grounds.
Restaurant reservation system didn't work - each time our chosen/reserved table was taken by someone else.
Location was lovely with lots of scenic views
Far too hot- don’t book the top rooms as they’re uncomfortably hot you’ll be unable to sleep or breathe. It smelt strongly like drains outside, bathroom very small if you’re 6ft or over the shower cubicle is hard to move in. Food took ages to come and our order was wrong on both nights. Questioned the accuracy of our receipt and were told the menu had recently been changed and that’s the way it needs to be put through on the till but this meant we paid £4 more for something? The pub is understaffed for the volume of customers, felt sorry for the members of staff behind the bar as they took the brunt of people waiting for long periods of time. Flies everywhere inside the pub, I understand it’s summer and it’s hot so windows and doors need to be open but when they’re landing on your or flying around your food it’s really off putting.

Very good breakfast and professional staff.
Great location, clean and comfortable. Welcoming staff very friendly
Young waitering staff at dinner, not so friendly
Good location for walking trips & also to access the village. Adequate parking options. Grounds were well maintained & enjoyed being on the lake. Received warm welcome during check in A standing fan was available in the room which helped keep it cool. Good black out curtains.
WiFi was terrible. It’s 2026…get an extender. Banner at front of hotel was eye roll worthy. Your marketing team need to stop being so contrived. Towels were very thin & stayed wet. No fridge on the room or water bottles. Sheets, toilet rolls & vacuum where left in the hallway from early morning. Looks untidy & no need for this mess at 8:30am. Cleaning staff felt overwhelmed & barging through doors. Didn’t have consistent breakfast foods. Eggs ran out on both mornings, Hash browns once. Bread was down to last slice. Check in station wasn’t occupied during check out so just left the keys.
Lovely hotel just a short walk from Coniston village . Very comfortable room, excellent food & really helpful, friendly staff.

Looks nice. Room was decent in size and included air-con which was a good feature. Breakfast was really nice.
Staff person who checked me in, not the taller chap who was on next morning of Tue 7th July, was not customer oriented at all. I arrived later in the day and was informed food was due to finish in 40mins, I said I needed to shower first… and was then duly informed that if I wasn’t down to order in time I’d get no food… thanks for that… in other more customer oriented establishments I’ve had staff offer to order food for me say 10mins before ordering finishes, I’d pay for it and I’d ensure I was present to eat it. Just thoughtfulness and manners imo, cost nothing as they say. Same chap barked instructions at me when I checked in, most of which I got I think but in his machine-gunning of instructions, I missed where my room was, he barked that again at me in an even less mannerly fashion, as well as him repeating that the sheet in the room gives you all the details you need to know, except the basics of check-out time it seems 👀 I get when you repeat something numerous times a day to people you sort of bleat it out… but he has to remember most people are hearing it for the first time… Oh and a pint of Diet Cola is £4.50 😳 And the tv didn’t work… Oh and lastly the evening food was a bit iffy, my Korean ribs weren’t as expected or ever tasted before 🤷🏻♂️
Location
Very poor value for money - basic travel lodge standard at a premium price -
A beautiful hotel in the most beautiful spot. The room was lovely and clean, with a comfortable bed and a wonderful view. The staff were friendly, chatty and professional. I would love to visit again soon.
Fabulous surroundings and views. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and comfy.
Nothing
Staff excellent Location excellent We had a lovely time Highly recommend
Soft closing doors on rooms are the only thing I could recommend as the morning was on the noise side with early risers
Beautiful location, grounds lovely, staff kind and helpful
Would have preferred draws rather than shelves but that is probably personal choice.
Hotel molto bello, in riva al lago con tanti servizi. Un po’ lontano dal paese, ma in 10 minuti a piedi lo si raggiunge. Personale gentilissimo e ottimo cibo
Easily accessible by bus. I appreciated the fact the staff allowed me to take dog to the restaurant. I also had the option to sit in a private room for dinner with a view over the hill. A lady in the evening sorry forgot her name was very kind and friendly when serving us meal. I appreciated that.
Room was clean but very small. Information upon check in wasn't really given to me about breakfast. I had to ask.
My students and I loved the location. It was serene and beautiful. Its proximity to the lake is fabulous!
The family room was great and spacious for a family of 4 adults. The breakfast was really great and we were very happy to see that there were plenty of vegan options for us. The location was perfect for what we needed - close to the lake and to the town.
Only downside was that the shower stopped working completely when I was using it - I was taking a long shower (15/20 minutes) which the receptionist explained could cause the mains to overheat and shut down and it would take an hour before the shower would work again. No complaints apart from this!
Perfect location, beautiful property with spacious rooms. Friendly staff, great food that all combined to make this a lovely break to celebrate our anniversary.

Clean and tidy and lovely staff.
Nothing.
Stunning location, definitely had the wow factor upon arriving!
Some of the staff looked miserable , but after reading the previous reviews about customers been ignored at the bar etc most of them acknowledged our presence with , wont be a moment so I wonder if they have had a talking to . I do believe they look understaffed like a lot of places , the lady on breakfast during our stay was lovely as was the lady who served us for dinner . Most of the others could do with a lesson in customer service , however the location more than made up for it , we had room 28 which was a duel aspect room with the most stunning views, and we had a wonderful night's stay .
