Location was good, room was clean, & although not used by us, the indoor pool appeared to be a nice novelty for a hotel in Kirkland lake. The room mattress & furniture was also fairly new and upkept.
The breakfast was sub-par for the cost to stay here. When travelling, we alter our expectations based on the overall region, culture, and cost that we choose. For what appeared to be the most expensive hotel (non-lodge/Inn), it fell short on that aspect. E.g. - providing pre-cooked carton eggs with a fake yoke was a stand out for us. The selection was also small and there could have easily been a few standard items to make it better - such as a proper drip coffee. This can be easily resolved though, and if I were to stay here again, having the option of taking no breakfast at a lower cost, I could quite comfortably head over to a local dinner in town.
Overall we enjoyed our staff at the Microtel. The beds / pillows were very comfortable. However, we found the room dark. The room needed more lights along one wall and there was no lights in the alcov for the coffee machine or overhead lights so it was very difficult to see when making coffee. Cleaning staff did an excellent job. I would stay there again.
Modern facilities, nice pool, good-sized room.
The staffs were super friendly and helpful except two of them. 😅 good location , great breakfast
Sometimes the housekeeping services were missing something it happened once though.
Breakfast was ok
The rooms were small and not really clean, it was disappointing. We had stayed in a Marriot in North Bay and for over $100 less we had a nice room and the breakfast was exceptional. It feels like the hotel is only catering to temporary shift workers at the mines and if you happen to be a visitor, you've just walked into their place.
Very clean and very friendly staff! Overall amazing stay. Kids loved the pool and I especially loved the extremely clean room.
Nothing
Everything was amazing, from the staff to the room. Gym pool hot tub breakfast I can’t wait to be back in jan2026. Keep up the great work
Kirkland Lake Microtel staff and management punch above 1st tier hotels from around the world. They go above and beyond! There service and hospitality are nothing short of extraordinary. The staff and management are salt of the earth and down-to-earth people who know how to bring hospitality and service at its best!
Quiet
Bathroom door doesn’t latch. Room 317.
The atmosphere was amazing. Mindy at the front desk was exceptional. All the staff were very friendly and welcomed our furry child.
Very clean, modern rooms. Excellent breakfast options for vegetarians Kids had a blast at the pool
Slight strange smell coming from the vents
Room was spotless, staff were very friendly, parking was a breeze.
na
We had read online before we booked that they have had problems with the hot tub working and the hotel makes no effort to inform the guests prior to their reservation. We enjoy having a hot tub so tend to reserve rooms where one is available. We called the day before leaving home to make sure it was working and was assured that it would be working. Upon arrival, the jets were not working. We called the front desk, the girl called the maint man and was told that it had not been working for a few days and would not be fixed during our stay, apparently the pump was seized. I understand that things break, while its no ones fault, the hotel has a resp to provide the services they claim to have or compensate their guests. We paid over $350 for one night and felt as though we did not receive what we paid for. When I emailed the manager Selena the next day, (no manager was around when we checked out mid morning) her response suggested she couldnt care less. Her words, Our hotel is very busy and reselling that room had you opted to leave would not have been a problem". In other words, we dont need to worry about customer satisfaction, we are going to rent the room anyways.
All good
Overall, a great experience unfortunately who in this forward close and we were looking forward to using this. The hotel was clean with good breakfast choices. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
When informed upon check-in that pool and hot tub were closed we asked for a discounted rate. Was advised we could gladly cancel our reservation with no penalty and find other accommodations. Could not believe management supported that approach and as they were off site was given email contact. Sent email to find out that’s exactly how management thought to rectify situation. Without those two amenities this property is vastly over-priced. Won’t be staying here again and advise all future customers to call first to check on hotel amenities. If pool is closed I wouldn’t pay more than $200/night for this property. Also - no need for standard management reply to my concerns saying reach out to discuss my experience. I did reach out while there and management did reply. They were well aware of my concerns and only offered us to go elsewhere.
This is a great property, especially for a small town with limited options. The staff were super friendly and rooms were great too - kudos to the house-keeping department (Thank you for nice clean rooms)!! The only thing I would suggest is having a small gathering/ bar area or somethhing as it's difficult when you're from out of town and theres absolutely nothying available and nothing in town is open. Some people on vacation don't want to go to bed by 10:00 o'clock and not all contractors go home for the weekend. I think you're missing out on a real business opportunity here. Other than that, great stay!
Checked in Friday, August 29th to be informed that both pool and hot tub are out of order. When asked for a discounted rate was informed that wasn’t an option. Was advised that they would cancel our reservation with no penalty and we could look for accommodation's elsewhere. Front desk staff was professional but at the end of the day management did not support price reduction. Conveniently no management staff was on-site during check-in but was given email contact for manager who replied in a reasonable time frame. That said the email reply was basically happy to cancel your reservation with no charge and you can go elsewhere. Have stayed here before with no issues but after this disastrous experience won’t be staying here again. With no pool/hot tub option this hotel is simply not worth the inflated cost. Would advise future guests to save roughly $100/night and stay across street at comfort inn. Additionally be warned - I was advised that because we booked through Expedia there was very little they could do even if they wanted to due to how involved the process was. Definitely felt my booking through a third party site was a factor in how they handled my concerns. Lastly - as is usually the case in a complaint online, management from the hotel will likely reply to this concern asking me to contact them to discuss further blah blah blah. Know that I reached out and connected with management during check-in. My concern isn’t with the staff at the desk really - it was managements response to my concern when they were made aware.
No night light in bathroom
.
Excellent customer service. Staff are accommodating with last minute changes. Fantastic room options. Love the breakfast options. Always taken care with the fantastic rewards program. Excellent choice of hotel brand. I rate this hotel up there amongst luxury hotels!
Clean, good shape, nice staff, relaxing
Bright and clean with extremely friendly staff at check-in and at breakfast. Although the hot tub was closed the pool was refreshing after a long drive. Plenty of space to walk the dog before bed and in the morning. Very good restaurant recommendations from front desk.
Hot tub n/a
Room was noisy due to location.
Clean, friendly staff, room was lovely
Very nice hotel. Friendly staff. The hotel was very clean, comfortable bed and nice and quiet so good for sleeping. Great hotel.
Microtel, Kirkland Lake, Ontario is by far one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Ontario. I have family who I visit annually. This is my 3rd trip. I always stay Thurs-Mon. There is nothing negative to write. The front desk staff go above and beyond to help. The entire hotel is clean. The guest rooms are spotless. The in-room amenities are great. Even the wireless is great. Although the hotel was booked full, I never heard a sound when I was in my room. Breakfast is an assortment of hot, cold, muffins, waffles...whatever you could want. I highly recommend Microtel Hotel in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.
Hotel was super average, nothing negative or not worthy from a positive perspective. If the hotel was around $150 mark it would be perfect however based on the value that’s being received, I don’t think it’s worth the price that is being charged. In my humble opinion, the hotel is taking advantage of a availability situation and as a consumer appeals borderline like price gouging.
Room was much smaller than a standard hotel room.
Really great rooms and staff
👌
Nice and clean place to stay. Staff is friendly.
Great staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast
The hotel is what we expect. The team were helpful and polite. Clean with well lit parking.
Did not like the bed .
Breakfast should be 30min earlier. Most people hear are due to the mines. However the breakfast isn't served early enough to utilize
The breakfast was disappointing. The room was fine. Too much $ for what you get.
Very comfortable beds. Good breakfast but pricing is outrageous at $300 bucks per night for a 2 queens room.
Staff, clean, well maintained
Price a bit high for the location
The Hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend this hotel for sure. Loved that there were outdoor BBQ’s for guests to use. Very unique idea.
The cancellation policy for this hotel is extremely strict
Overall was good. I found housekeeping a bit “pushy”. I had the do not disturb sign on the door and they knocked twice. I felt like I was being rushed out the door on check out day, even though I was still well within the allotted check out window.
Property was very clean, beds were comfortable, breakfast had hot options... coffee and tea, incl DECAF coffee, was available 24-7. Pool and hot tub were great... not big but we were the only ones using it! I totally recommend this hotel 100% When our TV wasn't working, the really nice front desk staff came up right away to try and fix it. When she couldn't fix it, SASHA came in immediately from off site and fixed it... which being the night of game 6 between TML and Senators...we'll, it was priceless that they both worked together to get the tv working!! Just a loose cable but we were SO thankful!!
shower pressure very low, floors squaek
Wonderful service! Parking easy and quick. Amenities were terrific inside room And outside. Pool and hot tub were enjoyed. Nice and clean! Beds were incredibly comfortable too! Downside: upstairs people were extremely Loud. The thudding at all hours wasn’t fun, but it didn’t dim up at all. Thank you !
Rooms are clean but extremely small. Very small rooms for the price of them
Front staff very friendly. Pool was clean. No complaints at all
Location
Break fast meal is light
Great little hotel . Conformable bed and spotless . What else can you ask for ?
Everything was good. There were some loud folks across the hall but by evening they were not an issue by the evening.
clean inviting lobby and quick friendly guest checkin . Nice comfortable clean room.
My wife and I were there for a short time but it was enjoyable. It was very clean and they were friendly!
Everything was great.
Garbage out side at the entrance upon arrival dogs barking in a room on our floor Woke up several times threw out the night
We would have liked a upgrade but no rooms were available.
Good location, modern building
Uncomfortable bed, unhelpful staff, dirty room
We stayed at the Microtel for three nights while visiting family in Kirkland Lake. The hotel was busy with what looked like workers staying, but was very quiet. The staff was helpful. Great having a microwave and fridge in the room. The breakfast was great as well. Definitely would stay here again.
Close to our work site
Beautiful, quiet comfy
We had a wedding at 3 check-in is at 3. Asked for early check-in not possible! Received a email from Wyndham after reservation offering early check-in for $25-$75. Really! A bit much!
Not many places. This one is good
Cleanliness
No early check in. The wedding was at 3 and check in was at three. Reserved room by telephone directly with hotel. They said No to early check in. Then received online email from Wyndham hotels indicating possible early check in at a cost of $25-$75. Really now!!
Very clean hotel
The staff was very nice and accommodating. They brought me up a lamp for my side of the bed which was appreciated. They were very friendly.
It was the tiniest room we've stayed at so far in our trip across Canada. There was barely enough room to move. We couldn't ever get the luggage rack into the room. There was no bedside table on both sides of the bed and no lamp on one side, so to read my book, the light on my wifes side had to be left on. The staff did bring me a lamp, which was very much appreciated, but I had to put a garbage bucket upside down with a box on top of it to put the lamp on. Good for the staff. They were really nice actually. The room was just way too small.
The staff there were so amazing and kind! Very refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast is really good also....Thank yiu for a great time Microtel!!!
I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Super clean and comfortable. Great pool and hot tub. Amazing breakfast selection. Comfortable beds. They also supply full size bottles of Dove brand shampoo, conditioner and body wash. You don't have to pack these items. Even the hand soup is Dove liquid brand not those hard dry soap bars. The grounds outside are very clean and seating areas to relax. Totally an amazing place to stay.
Check in staff were super friendly! Loved my room, it was clean and comfortable.
Perfect
Staff are very friendly and rooms are very clean and well kept. Will stay here again in the near future
Convenient, friendly and efficient front-desk staff, polite housekeeping team-members
Kirkland Lakes newest and modern hotel, in a town where choices are limited. Clean and convenient with a good included breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would return if I’m back that way. Price is reasonable for what is offered.
The best around
The staff were very friendly!
