Our second time at Carter’s By The Sea and its Nice place to stay right by the sea.

A modern well appointed unit. Very well equipped and comfortable. Nice location by the beach but do really need to go into Westport for supplies and restaurants etc.

Location was lovely and a short drive from Westport. Great eatery a few metres down the road too. Immaculate interiors and good local knowledge from the proprietor.

Very relaxing place to stay. Good location; Quiet but some goods things to do in local area. Good restaurant/bar next door.

Wonderful motel, smart and modern with everything we needed. We had a seaview apartment and loved looking out over the beach and the seafront. Wish we'd stayed longer!

Excellent accommodation. The only place in Westport that you should stay at. Ask for room 4 - it is the best unit at the front!!

The property was modest in size, modern and well maintained. Limited dining options nearby (Donaldos is right next door, but that seems to be all in a Carter’s Beach), however Westport township is only a few minutes drive away. Management were friendly and accommodating, parking available and the unit had a nice patio. Beds were comfy and bathrooms clean and tidy.

Everything was fine, but we had book this months in advance and would of liked to have had a bottom room as we had to lug a lot of luggage up for two couples traveling together. Other than that, very clean and comfortable

We arrived late, and the host had organised for us to check in outside hours. Lovely notes by the hosts about our welcome and places to visit and sight see while we were in the area including the penquin colony which was awesome. Accommodation is clean, roomy, modern and well kept. Rooms have everything they need including decent coffee and a manual machine which is always well received but not often provided to guests. Would highly recommend a stay here, hosts are proud of their abode and this is reflected in the stay

Right across the street from a beautiful beach. Parking was right outside the door which was nice when we had to check out on a rainy morning. Facility was very nice.

Great overnight stop on our way down the west coast. Unit was quiet, clean and comfortable. Nice patio and walk to beautiful beach across the street. Delicious restaurant next door too

The owner greeted us with genuine enthusiasm and had good suggestions as to what restaurants and shops were available in the local area. Room was immaculately clean and well-appointed. No noise came into the room and parking was at the back door of the room. Double glazed windows assisted in warming the room and created a very cosy environment. Excellent and reasonably priced restaurant and milk bar located next door. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A very enjoyable experience and highly recommended as a reliable and pleasant property.

A comfortable stay: the room was very comfortable, clean and well lit; and the host was very helpful. Our room was on the ground floor but had a low hedge in front which provided privacy for the room but no view. The restaurant next door is a plus; we did not need to go far for a meal.

The property is across the road from a field and then the ocean with sandy beaches. Location is great for the shore and just a few minutes from town. It was also minutes away from hiking Cape Foulwind trails along the coast and to the Fur Seal Colony. Accomodations were modern, clean, comfortable and quiet. Everything worked well: shower, fan, TV, WiFi, etc. The restaurant next door is fully licensed and has pretty good food.

Property is lovely and well kept. Our room was delightful with everything we needed. A bit close to the road, but such a quiet area it was not a problem. Parking is tight, but free, so that is a bonus. Good WiFi.

The property was very well organized, comfortable and welcoming. The property is newer and very well designed, functional for all. I would suggest for the 'fantastic owners', that possibly an extension cord for plugging in our devices be available, as the plugs were somewhat cumbersome for N. American computers with their heavy convertors to remain plugged in. Otherwise wonderful accommodation to stay in. Very clean and neat.

Modern property across street from Carters Beach and convenient to Cape Foulwind and nearby seal colony. Short drive to downtown Westport. Hosts were welcoming and helpful in finding local sites to explore.

A great location right on the beach with a cafe/restaurant next door.arrived late afternoon and greeted by Chris. He was polite and friendly with the recommendation to go to the seal colony (was there plenty of them too!) that afternoon. About 5 minutes drive from Westport...yes you need a car. Studio rooms had everything except an oven if memory serves me correct...apologies Chris if not the case. Laundry available at cost including washing detergent and parking no problem. Thanks for the advice to drop into pancake rocks (you won't be disappointed) on the way South to Greymouth. Very quiet,didn't even hear the waves. Highly recommended.

We loved this place. Bright, clean and lovely location. We'd choose this place if we ever returned to the South Island. We came for one night and were happy that we could be accommodated for a second night. Beautiful.

The motel is exceptionally well presented,we were greeted and shown to our room. We were given instructions on the rooms features and offered a locals insight to activities. Great Location. We would stay again.

This was one of the nicest places we stayed at in New Zealand. Very modern and new. Unlike most of the other hotels we stayed at, the internet was very fast and unlimited.

A new and very comfortable motel with all the bells and whistles so to speak. Owner was somehow surprised I had booked this through trivago but like I said being on that site must work for him as he had gainef5more business. I will recommend this motel

Stayed for 1 night on the way up South Island and was perfect for what we needed. Nice quiet location and was a lovely room with view out to Sea. Friendly service and good advice on things to look out for on our onward journey.

A great stay for 2 days as plenty to see around the area. The hosts were very kind and the lodgings were quite new and modern. Good wi-fi, nice kitchenette and overall, very comfortable. Highly recommend it.

The setting was not as stunning as the rest of the Western coast of New Zealand, the cafe next door not worth a visit. The room had a small terrace but overlooking the garage building next door, the bed was uncomfortable with a plastic cover on the mattress which gives me a rash, the bedding not as good as other places.

Nice location, staff was very nice and courteous. Room was clean and had good amenities, very comfortable and quiet. Great for a night's rest! Right on New Zealand's west coast, a short walk away from the beautiful beach. Next door is a local restaurant where you can grab a bite and a pint.

Ours stay here was perfect the room was clean it was a very nice setting . The facilities seem very new. The only negative about this hotel was that the location is too far from town to walk in you will need some sort of transportation to get to town there is a small cafe next to the hotel we did not eat there.

What a wonderful experience we had! This hotel is fairly new and everything is modern and up to date including having a dishwasher in your room! Our hosts were more than gracious and accommodating offering great suggestions of where to go and where to eat. Would recommend Carters By The Sea to everyone!

Beautiful new build in a quiet location

Found this hotel just out of Westport on Carters beach great quiet location. The hotel was new and had great facilities, with a bar/ restaurant just a few doors away all our needs were catered for after traveling around the area during the day we just relaxed here in the evening with a walk along the deserted beach.

Welcoming and knowledgeable hosts, who suggested local places to eat and places that were worth visiting. The room was very clean, warm, light, comfortable and fitted out to a high standard. We enjoyed our stay - thank you.

Absolutely phenomenal. Did not want to stay. Already planning a return trip for at least a week. Modern, convenient, beautiful location. Owners are so friendly and accommodating and. The epitome of Kiwi hospitality. Can't wait to go back.

Our room was very comfortable and overlooked the beach. It was lovely sat on the balcony watching the sunset. The owners were helpful in advising about places to eat and to visit.

Very high quality room, well fitted out and very modern. Really nice owners and you get all that you need. Some apartments have a great view too. The restaurant next door is brilliant, lovely food and very friendly and it's not far into Westport for anything else you need.
