Nice location, comfortable bar to enjoy evening drinks, good parking, good shower
I felt I was back at school with so many rules - the welcome email was 7 pages long with a list of things you must not do; On arrival there were 6-7 signs to read full of more instructions, and then the person checking me in ran through a list of others dos and don’ts - I honestly felt like I was checking in for a life sentence! It did not make for a relaxing atmosphere - it was less like a welcome and more like a job interview!
Super nice and helpful hostesses with amazing food. Nice rooms
A bit far from everything, but that’s not a bad thing
Das Frühstück! Freundliche Bedienung
Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff was super nice. Food was good if a bit pricey. Nice location. Dog friendly.
Unfortunately they charge parking fees for hotel guests, but not for restaurant users. They also very annoyingly send tons of e-mails containing outside links: to book for dinner, to book for breakfast, to pay for parking, to pay the pet fee, etc. Very spammy! Room waa not cleaned during our 2-nights stay. Upstairs access by stairs only.
It wasn’t open when I arrived. I didn’t realise check in closed at 21:00. (Earliest iv ever heard). No signal at all at the location and leading up to it. Received a text at 23:00 saying. Where now closed please find somewhere else to stay. I arrived 23:06. After driving 400 miles. No signal. (No maps no internet) couldn’t drive as I had used all my driving hours. Asked for a refund this morning. Refusing to pay. The stresss levels las night are something iv never felt before. Make sure you are not late or you will be left with no where to sleep. No signal and expected to pay to sleep somewhere else with no refund !
Zuvorkommendes Personal, online Kommunikation top. Alles gut geregelt. Ganz nette Leute vor Ort
Alles nur Online
We had an excellent stay, the food was very good, we had breakfast and dinner on both days.
The parking cost.
The whole thing. Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, great menu, nice room.
Paying to park.
Eten was erg lekker
Room was very clean and the garden around the hotel was great for walking our little dog. The bed was comfortable and the room though very small was nicely furnished. We were on a week long roadtrip during which we stayed in 5 hotels and this review of Bridge of Cally is based on comparisons and our experience of the 4 other hotels we stayed in.
Having to pay an extra £5 to park at the hotel when we were residents. Also it was obvious that costs were being cut where possible. The food was average with cheaper unbranded cornflakes, and very small portions of toast and preserves at breakfast. Staff were polite but not really friendly with guests. At checkout I mentioned two room maintenance issues to a member of staff (bath water draining out from a leaking bath plug and a constantly flickering main light in the bedroom). Unfortunately my comments were met with a shoulder shrug.
Great location and evening meal and. breakfast really nice
Food was great. Bed was comfortable!
The cosy hotel....the staff...the food....👌 best soup ever!.
Keep the hallway carpets clean.
The Location and the building layout
The lack of a curtain in the toilet / bath room
The staff were great very helpful.yhe food was good and our room was very comfortable and spacious.
Nothing

Bed was comfortable.
Kitchen extractor fan noisy. Parking had to be paid for separately, you couldn't get there without private transport. TV aerial didn't work at all, extremely poor.
Excellent food and staff.
Could hear the pump start and stop in the night.
Nice location and classic hotel.
The parking situation is ridiculous. You shpuld not have to pay gor parking, this is a rural hotel. I travelled by motorcycle and had problems with the parking management company app. Neither the parking coy nor the hotel who i messaged through Booking.com could resolve the matter before travel. On arrival the barman / manager said "you should have let us know you were on a bike, I wouks have told you to park by the side of the hotel and not need to pay". I had told them. I get the feeling that the hotel group who own the hotel are maximising profit to the detriment of guest satisfaction. It wasnt great value for money.
Blessed with good weather we enjoyed the beer garden and the river walk. The restaurant provided a good dinner and breakfast was excellent.
Beautiful place and destination…
Child friendly and very welcoming
There was a good selection of food which was home made food, nothing fancy presentation wise, but it was good and tasty for both breakfast and dinner. Staff serving were very nice and helpful. The location was great for accessing so much in the area, and routs in all directions. Great location. Lovely walks by the river and beyond. Lovely area
The hotel is dated and smelt old. I was disappointed with the room which was also very dated and tired, and all on a slope. The bed on my side had a dip in it so when I turned over I felt I was falling out. Overall it needs a good make over. I booked a dog friendly room on booking.com but when I arrived was told I had to pay £28 for my dog and if I had booked directly I wouldn't have to pay for this again! I was not happy. Paying for parking was another £5 which everyone was taking exception to and there were calls from previous guests complaining of getting parking tickets. The man on reception was curt and I witnessed him being particular rude to an asian man with limited English as well as a German party. His manner was unacceptable. Another member of staff would have helped as he was checking in guests, dealing with the bar, and serving dinner. Bookings for dinner and breakfast times were rigid to suit him, there were lots of spaces available, and due to his lack of flexibility he lost a family group as he wouldn't accommodate them. There were a lot of foreign tourists and I felt embarrassed for them. This all took place in a small bar reception area where everyone could witness. I can't believe all the good reviews for this place??
It is a pub restaurant with rooms. The food in the restaurant for dinner was good but starters & deserts more expensive than expected. The room was very basic, bathroom old
Old & tired facilities. En-suite bathroom had shower over bath set-up, not ideal. For the price the room was disappointing
Food was great
Paying for parking
All meals were excellent
It was a comfortabke hotel with a lovely walk and excellent food. Staff were amazing.
Nothing
Lovely location. We have stayed here last year too, comfortable ground floor room. The staff here are all very efficient and friendly.Excellent choice for breakfast in restaurant, evening meals also very good ,we ate here every evening. Many lovely places to visit from here, also onsite parking. Thanks to Gareth for being very helpful and friendly, hopefully be back again sometime soon.
Food was Lovely at Dinner and Breakfast
The Hotel need to make it clear that bikes are not allowed in the bedrooms. In fact the hotel and their policies really need to update to cater for bikes as it is a great biking area and it would add to their value. We were told that we could park our bikes by the side of the hotel where the bins were. The pool room could have been used when the last customer had vacated, plastic mats could be supplied if concerned about the floor. We have travelled and stayed in many hotels without it being a problem. More and more people are travelling and want to use bikes now, it is time to get updated!
Location ,apart from cars speeding past outside even though it's meant to be a 20 mph was great. I was walking nearby so suited me, room was nice and comfortable id paid for deluxe as had stayed before in just a double and it was tiny
Same as last time I stayed, staff in restaurant need training ( it's not cheap) I asked what the east neuk caught haddock meant ( where is that?.) Waitress looked stunned said it was the house round the corner??? Guy in waist coat preumme was higher / manager 👨💼looked stumped said no idea... I informed them I came from Fife and stayed in Anstruther which was actually part of East neuk, not a house round the corner.. They need to know their menu with the prices they charge.. Specials were 4 bits of printed paper stuck squintly above table 1 !!! Anyone sitting at table 1 needs to be aware when waitress says our specials are over here ( Did the first night not the second I add) that the folk all then troop over to where they are sitting to read the specials!!!! Bloody ridiculous just tell folk or have a specials menu for each table. £5 per night charge for hotel guests to park yet you get 4 hrs free parking if come for a drink?? Not good...( reason I never left a tip TBH) hope they share the parking income with the staff. No one shows you to room all they talk about is paying up ... No tabs no cash only card, pay up before you leave each night for bed then just chuck your key in a basket when you leave, which has to be before 10am so no check out no interaction no how was your stay, lovely to see you etc , very impersonal... And trying to sell at other venues with the inspired thing??? Nothing was very inspiring at all ... Place really needs someone with some personality and a bit of common sense and just to understand basics about hospitality TBH and it could be a cracking place. Games room no one uses ( no one takes cash yet pool table only takes pound coins, and no cash on site, how can you play if you don't have cash yourself) part of cateran trail get someone to know about it and intice walkers and walking tour company's to choose there as a stop on the trail with luggage transfer etc.
We had a large room at the front of the hotel. The restaurant was airy and bright, and the food was delicious.
As it was mid-summer the room was hot during the night and leaving the window open meant lots of road noise as we were at the front of the hotel. The bar shut early, 10pm. And check-out in the morning was by 10am.
Staff, food and location
The location was stunning, the hotel was perfect, staff very friendly and the food was incredible. Thoroughly recommend a stay at the Bridge of Cally Hotel.
Myself and my new fiance loved everything!
Accueil efficace. Chambre très confortable. Petit déjeuner copieux.
Prix élevé.
Breakfast and dinner were amazing. Hot and big portions. Staff were friendly and caring. Our car had issues and we waited on RAC to fix the problem. The staff on Dury came out to make sure we were OK. Really lovely.
Nothing really, it offered everything we needed.
The food was delicious, we had breakfast and dinner although slightly over priced.
We were dissapointed in the cleanliness of the room. When I did a sweep of the room before we left we found that under the bed was quite dirty and there was a previous guests dirty sock. This was quite visible as found it when lifted the bedding.
Lovely Character, River Running nearby, Great Staff
Parking not included as part of the stay out in the countryside
Friendly service and clean and tidy rooms. The whole place seemed really well run.
Staff really friendly. Room was clean Food was nice but selection limited.
Nothing much to dislike. Parking app was rubbish

Great location and lovely staff and good wholesome food
Suited our needs for one night. The staff were exceptional. The food was delicious. Breakfast was vast and served at table - no buffet which was a refreshing change.
We had to pay £28 for our dog for one night. We also had to pay for parking. Tv was limited. Heater was on in room when we arrived so it was too hot.
The hotel is in a very quiet and nice area. It has the restaurant/bar so that’s a plus, the food is really good there! The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were amazing, really helpful. He even provided a fan which he was using cause we told him that the room was a bit hot, we really appreciated that.
Nothing in particular
O restaurante serve boa comida. Funcionarios bastante prestaveis.
Good location for Cateran trail.
Food was expensive. Had to pay to park outside.

Everything was of superb quality and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come again and recommend to others. Excellent hotel, bar and restaurant.
It was all good and staff
Price mabey
Krásné ubytování. Milí lidé a úžasná snídaně
Lovely setting and was perfect for our impromptu stop over, the gluten free options for the mrs was also a huge win
There was nothing we disliked
Location
Noisy boiler disrupting sleep
The staff are efficient and very friendly and helpful. Our shower head didn't work and was fixed immediately. The garden and woods behind the hotel are lovely, and the Cataran Trail runs up the side of the hotel into some beautiful scenery.
We asked for a quiet room at the back of the hotel and we wanted a walk-in shower. The hotel has 17 rooms and only ONE has a walk-in shower. (Room #3) It is at the front of the hotel facing the bins and the curve of the road. So it wasn't quiet, and the curtains were too thin the keep the daylight out at 4.00 AM. The mattress was old and had two dips from long-term use. Breakfast is a la carte and there are lots of choices, but with two waitresses they can only manage a 3 or 4 tables at a time and you have to book a time or be prepared to wait.
Very comfortable traditional small hotel. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Location, comfort and dinner was good value for money and the best Cranachan I've ever had.
Paying £5 for parking at an isolated country pub (where else was one to park) if I'd known before hand I wouldn't have booked...also the noisy water heating/plumbing needs looked at as it was pretty noisy in our room not nice late evening/early morning.
Quiet, comfortable room. Very clean. Good location & excellent food.!
Nothing to dislike!
Room clean and adequate and staff very pleasant.
Breakfast very expensive, so we ate at a cafe. No lounge. Bar tiny. Bar closed very early for residents.
The room was great, clean and tidy and had plenty of space. Bar has a great choice of beers and wines to choose from aswell as bar meal. Loved the place been out in the middle of nowhere, nice and quiet.
The car park, it's gravel....it's fine if your in a car or van, but i was on a motorbike and that was not easy moving it around.
It's a little gem. And the walk along the river was a beautiful surprise.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly hotel also in bar and dog friendly restaurant
Very clean and comfortable, pleasant staff great food.
Loved our repeat visit. Loved our room. Will ask for room 15 for future visits..So quiet, only heard the river outside. Magical. Very comfortable & clean xx
Everything was great. Only slight niggle, couldnt work out the TV. But we were happy to do without.
Its a lovely little hotel and staff are nice
They always shut everything down early I was not happy they charged me £5 just to park my car in the car park I have parked before and not charged They had a sign if you are eating or at bar you park for free I dont actually see why someone paying probably more for a room is charged to park in what is a large car park I can see why they dont want anyone just parking and not using the facilities
Good location with parking. Dinner wasn't the highlight of the stay, overpriced and nothing special for the price, especially compared to how the dishes were described on the menu. It did the job, though, and compared to the other issues I had, it's not something I'd complain about much.
The listing stated American Express was accepted, which I relied on as my primary business travel card. At the property, my Amex was declined without any attempt to process it, and as the hotel is cashless, I had no other way to pay except a personal card. Separately, my first room had a bat in the bathroom, and the replacement room I was moved to had visible staining on the mattress protector, which needed to be replaced as well. Both issues were resolved practically, but no apology or acknowledgement was ever offered by the hotel, including during a phone call to head office, where the payment issue was blamed elsewhere and the room issues were dismissed as ordinary for a countryside property. I submitted a formal written complaint over a week ago and have received no response whatsoever. A poor stay is one thing. Not being taken seriously enough to even receive a reply is another.
Excellent dinner
Lovely staff, fabulous breakfast and great walk directly from the beer garden along the river
Sehr gute Küche, morgens wie Abends.
The setting was nice, albeit situated on a main road.
I feel it was rather expensive for a room only stay. The car park sited over the main road not ideal.
Location and it was very friendly with dogs which was excellent
Noise in room 8 from Kitchen fans. It went off around 10pm after kitchen closed.
Lovely restaurant.
Loud dan just outside the window.
Convenient location beside road
Helpful Staff Excellent Breakfast Comfortable Room
Nothing
Het personeel was vriendelijk en behulpzaam. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Mooie kamer en mooi groot bed
Alles prima
Breakfast, location
bed/mattress
Secluded area if you want a couple of nights of serenity. At least 15 mins drive away from any decent restaurant. Good for the price.
Don’t eat at their restaurant. Food was not fresh at all. Except once they had fresh chicken was ok but otherwise repeated during our stay and it was cold in the middle and reheated and tasted quite old.
Great staff, hotel & setting.
Pillows! Two supplied, one very flat so no support, the other very full & painful for neck. Very difficult to get comfy with either.
Beautiful location by the river with outdoor seating. Comfortable, clean room.
Great staff except the guy in reception a bit too officious. We booked 6.30 dinner, he said we’d booked 7. Tried to charge us twice for drinks. A bit too self important
We stayed in the cottage, just next to the hotel. Great for space, comfort, privacy and fast wifi
We were aware of traffic noise but it didn't keep us awake.
Lovely little hotel on the road up to the Cairngorms!
Bit tired!
Breakfast was very good, evening menu was excellent
No problem with this Hotel.
Very overpriced for what you get. Basic rooms and furnishings. Travelodges are more up to date. Seems a beautiful restaurant The hidden detail that causes issues. You came check in until 4pm and or after 10pm so if you are there because you are attending an event, you are a bit snookered. It’s the kind of place that plays on the foreign tourist trade.
Price more in keeping with standard Better check-in times
Lovely place, great staff, good room, food excellent.
Price of a soft drink, a pint of Pepsi max (draft) £5.90
Goede bedden. Leuke mensen.

Nestled at the foothills of Glenshee, Bridge of Cally Hotel offers a scenic base for exploring Scottish highlands and nearby Cateran walking trails.
Some rooms overlook the river, and the restaurant features views across the river bank with a cozy open fire.
