Hotel Tonancalli

Walkable

We were the only people staying there some nights, so very quiet. Owner and employees only spoke Spanish so unable to ask about things to do or highlights. Breakfast only on the weekends. We asked to use the kitchen, refrigerator or microwave to make our owk breakfast but the answer was no.

It is close to the downtown arra

I loved the old rustic feel of the room and the property in general. The rooms was beautiful and large. We also loved the amazing breakfast served when we were there. Large portions, delicious and great service. We also got to meet the owner, and she was a delight to speak with. I highly recommend this hotel!

La Sra. Rosy siempre atenta a nuestras necesidades y siempre orientando y recomendando lugares.

Paid with miles and made the mistake of not checking the reviews before. We went for a weekend; personnel was attentive - but clearly uneducated and undertrained. Much better hotels available for less than this one. No restaurant nor parking lot. Furniture old and discussing to say the least.

Verify the location of the room in the building: some have better view than others, ours with balcony was very noisy during weekends. Others get sunny sunset that is amazing.

I didn’t like anything about my stay or the staff or the facility.

No había servicio de restaurante

Perfectly located. Clean and nicely decorated . Very friendly staff. Quite noisy during weekend nights but worth the balcony option overlooking the street.

The website says that the price includes breakfast. It does not. There is a restaurant in the hotel that was never open the whole time we were there. The lady who checked us in seemed to be bothered that we had actually shown up since the room was pre paid. She did not want to offer extra towels. She said the front door closes at 10 PM and we would not be allowed back in the hotel if we arrived after 10 PM, even though the watch man said there is someone willing to open up for guests 24 hours a day. There was plenty of hot water which was nice after a long hike in the butterfly sanctuary.

We have a very good experience, beautiful place to stay!!! It is a hotel in a very original magical town in Valle de Bravo.!!! Regresamos pronto?

The hotel is not in good conditions, the water in the room wasn’t working, the staff was not helpful at all in this matter and there was no hot water for the two night. TERRIBLE

The breakfast was great The service there was no one that could help

Old rooms that aren’t in the best condition, but very spacious. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, though I echo other reviews: the sheets are very old / did not appear clean (stains, hair, etc). The shower was a nice surprise- very spacious and lots of hot water. There was no safe place to store luggage in the room and no security for the building. We were never really sure who was working or who just lived in the building. There was one younger girl on our second day who was welcoming. Other staff members seemed disinterested. A fine stay that was located very close to downtown. I think overpriced a bit overpriced.

The room has no view. Hardly gets any fresh air.

Very lovely hotel. Quiet, and even amidst the pandemic, we found it clean and well taken care of. We seemed to be the only guests, but the town was still busy and there was a lot to see and do (and eat!). We booked the king size bed and found it to be comfortable and spacious, as well as the room, which had a great view. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and look to book here again.

they will treat you like family...but it helps if you know Spanish, the staff speaks very little English. Great place to stay!

This hotel is nicer than it looks in the photos, very pretty and lots of character. We were given the room in front with a balcony overlooking the street and I was concerned about noise at night, but it was quiet enough. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, they kept our bags after check out while we went on a butterfly tour. When we were here the restaurant was closed but there are lots of places to eat nearby. The town of Valle de Bravo is very pretty and we walked around, getting down to the lake in about 10 minutes. The cobblestone streets are a little rough, wear good shoes.

It was sold as room and breakfast, that was not true; it comes with breakfast only during the week-end days. For three nights and 4 days we were the only guests in the hotel; it was spooky

This is more like a Bed & Breakfast for people like us that want to stay in traditional hotels that represent part of the local Culture. Very clean, understaff, but enough if you are patient. Will definitely use it again if in the area.

Attractive hotel reasonably priced.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly accommodating. Location was near tons of great restaurants and bars. The recommendations we received from the staff were great. All in all a great value in Valle.

I have stayed several times on this Hotel due business, so we have a preferred rate. Each room is different so each one has a charm, like an old country side house. Hotel does not have parking, so you will have to leave your car at the street (is safe, but I rather a parking next to building) in some rooms there is a constant smell of humidity (as some of the rooms do not receive direct sunlight) good that some rooms you have a fireplace, bad as sometimes the wood is damp and you need to ask for assistance. bathroom are average but a couple of times I had to ask staff for help as no hot water was readily available. bathroom door in some rooms is only a glass door so little privacy is expected. If you are out after 11:00PM you might find the hotel closed! you need to knock and wake a guy who sleeps in frontdesk to open the door. Good side is close to downtown and you can have best places just a couple of blocks away. You can pay an extra to have breakfast that is good and homemade, is served from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Be aware that there is no WIFi nor business installations and staff is not very good with on line reservations. You'll better do this in the old way. There are better options in town, this is not bad at all, but those details could make a better place to stay

We booked a reservation through booking.com for a double bed room for 900 pesos. When we arrived we were told by the receptionist that we would have to pay 1,250 pesos because booking.com had the wrong price. When the receptionist called the manager she told him we arbitrarily wanted a lower price, and nothing about the booking she had in her hands. We ended up going next door to Hotel Los Arcos which was far superior and actually cheaper (1000 MX in cash) for the 3 of us.

Friends and i stayed here in two rooms last weekend. Rooms were charming, clean, and well-appointed. Common areas were also comfortable. Internet worked well in the rooms that were near the reception area, but not in all parts of the hotel. Staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast (included in the room rate) was complete and delicious, with many options. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Due to the three straight holidays in Mexico and the Semana Santa, few available rooms in Avandaro were unreasonably expensive. We were going to Valle de Bravo on our way back from Morelia to the D.F., as a brief stop, so we decided to stay in the downtown of Valle de Bravo. - A mistake from my part. We opted for Hotel Tonancalli, which is a five-minute walk to the Zocalo. Thanks to the promotion, we only paid 550 pesos for a twin room and 500 pesos for a twin room of single use. This rate inlcuded tax. They do not serve breakfast. The hotel seems charming, especially so are the entrance and common spaces. The rooms are very spacious, and some of them have fireplaces. The staffs are really kind and friendly. The hotel offers amenities such as shampoo, hair conditioner, soap, body lotion and towels. At first glance, the room seemed clean, but the beadspread was really dirty, and the the cleaness of the room failed in details. The sheets were quite clean, though. My room in the ground floor faced the small patio, so i had to have the curtains drawn all the time for my privacy, which made the room dark. The walls are really thin, so you can hear what your neighbours are talking or doing. Since Valle de Bravo is a place to spend a lazy weekend, I would not recommend staying in the downtown, unless you are really into the Mexican culture. Instead, I would recommend Avandaro for a stay. With reason there were only few rooms available in Avandaro. The main activities in Valle de Bravo is not cultural ones, but just taking a rest. The downtown is interesting for a first couple of hours, but heavy dust makes strolling unpleasant and difficult. Since we live in the D.F., we will probably go to Valle de Bravo again. And next time, we will definitely stay in one of the fancy-looking hotels in Avandaro.
