OYO Gin House Hotel

It was closed down!!!

The hotel cancelled our stay one night before checkin, very helpful in a small town without many other options.

It was not open. It was closed for renovations.

Ladies in reception were pleasant enough

1. Listing on Booking.com website said 4 star. NO WAY 2. Page said '' High speed internet''. NO CONNECTIVITY in room, only avail in lobby of hotel. Room door has invalid wifi information see picture Routers in corridors did not work (I booked for 3 day stay to complete a book I was writing. Internet -even low speed- was vital to my stay) 3. Bed in room was soggy and uncomfortable. 4. No lift/ DIFFICULT FOR DISABLED 5. Energy saving light in corridors were slow to turn on. UNCOMPORTABLE FOR DISABLED 6. NO HOT BREAKFAST AVAILABLE. CHEF DIDN'T SHOW UP 7. Breakfast room had MANY FLYING INSECTS. PLACEMATS DIRTY 8. OYO has refused any communication or requested refund --- I CHECKED OUT 22 HOURS AFTER CHECK-IN. HANDED KEYS IN. STILL CHARGED FOR 3 DAYS --- Gossip - Locals I spoke to all said place was run by 'gangsters and drugs were being sold out of hotel', despite be next to police station

Do not book this hotel! It is closed until further notice. Didn't even have the decency to contact the people booked in to let them know.

OYO Gin house is a quirky hotel. Some works were underway while we were there so I'm not quite sure which direction it's going in but the staff were great, breakfast was good and the room was clean and comfortable. It's ideally suited for Greenock town centre. The hotel has a bar area, acceptably priced. The staff were excellent.

The breakfast space is laid out like a Tiki Bar built with pallets...very strange, unnecessary and quite a limiting use of the space. Works are underway in what appears to be the bar/ restaurant space so maybe things are being changed around. We'll visit again to see.

Lekker (continentaal) ontbijt met voldoende yoghurt en muesli. Groot pluspunt: cappuccino van Dolce Gusto zodat ik zeker weet dat hij lekker smaakt.

The location was very near the local facilities

Central to Greenock town centre, can walk there in minutes. My sister and I usually stay at the premier inn, however it was fully booked. What can we say , lucky us! Gin House has a seated area and a bar so there was always somewhere to sit other than the room. Staff were super friendly as were the people staying there. No one passed without speaking. Rooms were clean, tidy. There was tea, coffee, and biscuits. Bathroom had shampoo, shower gel etc. Can I also say the rooms were warm ☺️. Apparently this is a budget hotel but I couldn’t have asked for more. It was way better than a lot of the well known hotels. Best sleep I’ve had in a long time. Unsure if Gin House lets staff know but big thanks to Kiara who booked us in and made us feel more than welcome. She took time to chat to us and was absolutely lovely. Also, Janice from house keeping. Super friendly and amazing banter. Thank you all ❤️ .

The location was really good and the staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble the first night I was there I did not sleep as the outside flap on the ventilator in the bathroom was banging all night and as soon as I said to reception they very kindly moved me to another room I would definitely stay there again

Location brilliant as going to Brecon Theatre, friendly staff. Hotel was clean but tired looking in areas but some work being carried out, very reasonably priced for food and drinks.

Towel rail in bathroom not working so no heating there. Very small room. Hall and staircase in need of an uplift - very drab.

Great location, plenty of parking. Comfortable room with lots of storage, better than a 4 star hotel stayed at recently a few miles away. Tasty hot breakfast reasonably priced. Continental breakfast included.

To be fair, the hotel is a work in progress. The lovely people who have it have not been in long and there are snags that need to be ironed out. The heating system didn’t reach our room, and neither did the WiFi. Both issues need sorting, but no-one can do everything at once.

How easy it was to find the hotel and the very friendly welcome we got when we arrived. We booked this last minute as we could not get back to the island we live on due to ferry cancellations. Other options were really expensive or the reviews were unfavorable, however we were very pleased to get booked into this hotel, and it was really comfy.

There isn't much to say in this part, nice place to stay, handy for the centre and really good value for money. Especially with breakfast included, which we couldn't take advantage of due to the time we left in the morning.

What a hidden gem,honestly lovely place to stay.Our room was so spacious and very clean and beds so comfy best night sleep in long time.Can I just mention how sweet both Tracy and Vicky are both of them so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you.My first time staying here and will definitely not be my last.Thanks for everything 😊

Everything was perfect home from home

The location was easy to get to! The continental breakfast had a good variety.

The room I was initially allocated was not ready, as it had not been cleaned from the last check out. However this was resolved once I reported it to reception and I was allocated a bigger room instead. The whole hotel is in need of an update, as there are visible cracks in the bathroom sink for example and the hotel is as if you are stepping back in time 30 years.

Attractive price for one night's stay, location close to town centre and riverside promenade.

The Wi-Fi was slow and frequently dropped. The bedroom door lock was difficult to secure and release. Overall, the property felt worn and in need of improvement. The soundproofing was extremely poor, as every whisper from the hallway could be heard inside.

Easy to locate. Very old. Heating worked well, and the shower was ok.

Bathroom floor felt tacky. Bedroom Window was leaking…owners must have known about it, they put a flimsy flannel on the sill to catch the water, instead of fixing it.

On arrival it was obvious that this hotel was in the midst of a refurb and was not as described on the website. We spoke to the manager and cancelled our booking and she agreed to a full refund. Will you pls follow up as so far no credit has been received!

We found the Gin house to be clean, staff great, breakfast good and in an excellent position. Couldn't fault it and great value for money, would definitely be staying there again.
