Saunton Sands Hotel Source Spa and Wellness

Large room in hotel with a sea view were exceptional and bed very large and comfortable. Super bathroom and accessories. Clean and well furnished.Very relieved the staff kindly found us a good room later on. Food- suppers were of a consistently high standard and excellent menu and wine selections. Breakfast was above average.Pools were great and we enjoyed close proximity of the beach for walks. Games room and bars were great too.All stuff upheld good hotel values and were generous and accommodating.

'Cosy room' double bed too small. Overlooked carpark with claustrophobic airless feel. Very noisy at 5pm in the morning as bottles were collected into a truck.

The service provided by all staff was exceptional - courteous, friendly and professional. The guest relations team went above and beyond to make us feel special on our anniversary. The Source Spa, especially the thermal suite, is a must. All meals and drinks were very high quality - we were not left waiting once. The location, with direct access to, and views over Saunton Sands is second to none. We will most definitely be returning.

Very good, comfortable room but it was too hot over night and so felt unwell in the morning. Family in other apartment found it too cold!

No air conditioning. Had to have a cold shower at 1am as I was soaking. For the price you would expect for £300+ to have A/C

The view was stunning, it was clean and the bathroom was nice. Breakfast was buffet style and was adequate.

The room was OK but unfortunately had no air conditioning. The weekend we stayed had temperatures of 30 Degrees and with no air conditioning the room was unbearable. A small fan was provided but only moved the hot air around. The windows has locks on and would only open a small amount. not good. We had one evening meal but was unimpressed with the menu. I ordered Fish and Chips and was totally surprised to have a piece of fish? about half the size of a standard chippy. Not what I I would have expected from a 4 star hotel restaurant. Bar prices were extortionate with a glass of mediocre wine costing £15.00

The price for the rooms are to much. No air conditioning in rooms . Was given a in-land room which wasn't booked. But to pay that much for a in-land room is disgusting. Not worth the money at all.

The hotel is in a fabulous location. Beautiful decor and the staff were excellent. The buffet breakfast is very good with ample choice of fruits, cereals, drinks, toast, etc. The parking staff did a splendid job juggling all the cars that came and went, and went out of their way to make sure we had a space if we needed one.

We visited on what was probably one of the hottest days of the year so far and were disappointed that only one public room in the hotel had air conditioning. None of the bedrooms did. We were supplied with a fan but all that really did was move the hot air around our room. So both the nights we spent were very uncomfortable due to the heat.

Having recently stayed at the Watergate Bay hotel near Newquay, where the breakfast buffet was superb, I feel more attention could be paid to the breakfast offerings. The scrambled eggs were shocking (from a packet?) - someone needs to show the chef how to properly scramble fresh eggs; I would like to be able to toast a slice of sourdough - why was that not allowed? The mushrooms were very cheap and disappointing - please try them at Watergate Bay where they were wonderful - proper open dark mushrooms with flavour. As far as I can remember the yoghurt and fruit compote was good, but some seeds (pumpkin & sunflower) would be good as sprinkles for our gut and fibre health. Thank you.

The view from the hotel over the huge sandy beach and the dunes must be one of the best views in England. We love the Art Deco look and feel of the hotel. The breakfasts were excellent and we enjoyed our two dinners there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were only able to book an inland facing bedroom and it was a slightly strange shape. but was very comfortable. We certainly want to go there again.

Very little. As our bedroom was rather an odd shape, the cupboard was a bit in the way. But that's all and we love the hotel.

stunning location above Saunton Sands beach and very easy access to and from the beach each day. Really lovely pool, gardens and play park at the hotel too. All felt extremely comfortable, safe and easy with young children and enough space for everyone to enjoy different activities. The family room was excellent. Very comfortable beds and a wonderful view.

my only complaint was the absolutely hideous coffee from a machine at breakfast. Even the coffee served at the bar later on wasn't that great. in contrast the coffee at the beach hut cafe on the beach below was miles better. Really this was awful and something you have to fix. i really loved the hotel and i will be back and bring friends for sure but i will be bringing a cafetiere and my own coffee!!!!!

I had a sea-facing room specifically for the views, and they were amazing. Lovely little balcony to sit on to just gaze at the beach and sea. The garden looked nice for lounging in too. Didn’t use any of the other facilities because I only went for the views!

Quality in all aspects. Lovely family atmosphere. Staff excellent in attitude, friendliness, knowledge and skills. Sited on one of the finest beaches in the UK.

Some very minor minor items missed where you least expected. Too minor to mention really, since the whole staff obviously work very hard to make the visitor experience great.

You cannot be the location. It is right on the beach and the outdoor sitting area really is lovely. The receptionist and bar staff were also amazing. Really welcoming and very friendly. Any issues we had, they were quick to resolve them.

It is very very run down. It was absolutely boiling and whilst I slept with the balcony door wide open it was still so hot and no sea breeze (the rooms do not have air con) it was until I opened a cupboard door in the morning, that I realised that was a metal fan (not that it would have helped with the heat) it is such an iconic hotel and I can imagine 20/25 years ago it was stunning, but I do think there needs to be a massive investment on modernising and rebating the hotel (smart tv did not work and there was a lack of sockets/plugs etc). The price you pay is for the view.

Lack of information e.g family swim times only written on paper of swimming pool door in small font. Having to book for a jacuzzi seems excessive. Lift probably needs refreshing. Not super clear on whether hotel provides beach towels. As you do not provide perhaps this could be reviewed in future for a cost.

Sauna: natte en droge, ijsfontein, mineraal-bubbelbad - allemaal erg goed. Buitenzwembad is verwarmd. Restaurant: lekker en verfijnd eten, de ene schotel volgt wel nogal snel achter veel andere, zonder pauze.

Grootte van de kamer valt tegen. Ook de badkamer is klein. De wc staat achter de deur; als je partner binnenkomt terwijl je op toilet zit, dan knalt de deur tegen je knieën. Uitzicht van de kamer: parking + continu lawaai van de uitlaat van de keuken, vermoed ik. 4*-hotel onwaardig. Restaurant: we vroegen of we bij het raam mochten zitten. Om een of andere reden kon dat niet, terwijl 3 tafels de hele tijd leeg stonden?! Een 4° werd beschikbaar 5 minuten nadat wij neerzaten, men had ons toch nog kunnen laten verhuizen, maar neen, het kon niet. Ook een andere gast vroeg wat later of hij bij het raam mocht zitten, het kon niet, terwijl toen bijna alle tafels al leeg waren. Het was bijzonder rustig in het restaurant en toch mocht het niet?! Klantvriendelijk?! Met zo'n mentaliteit krijg je wellicht nooit een 5° ster. Bed: erg goed, aan de smalle kant voor een 4*-hotel. Ontbijt: verzorgd . Bij check-out werd niet eens gevraagd hoe alles geweest was!? Klant is niet belangrijk, concludeer ik daaruit. Prijs-kwaliteit: de sauna maakte veel goed, maar enkel voor de kamer was het zeker overprijsd.

Great hotel in a dream location, on a cliff overlooking a gorgeous beach - great for surfing. I've stayed here a few times now. Very good breakfast, lovely bar / lounge area and the staff are great, very friendly and welcoming, particularly the concierge - he's brilliant.

Bad Wi-Fi and the rooms could do with modernising - furniture a bit traditional seasidey hotel, shower in the bath vibe and the furniture is a bit dated. But you won't be staying in the room very much because you'll be on the beach and surfing all day!

If I had to pick something negative it would be that certain parts could do with updating, but that didn’t take away from the stay.

Beautiful location and views, staff were very friendly. The kids club was great and my 3 year old loved it. I had a massage which was fantastic. Loved the pool.

Unfortunately dealt with quite a rude older lady who took issue with my 3 year old son being in the ladies changing room. At no point was I told there was family changing or that I had to use it if I was getting changed with my son. If this is the case it would probably be useful to tell people this as we had to get all our belongings and move to the family changing when we were soaking wet.

Room needs some TLC in the bathroom. Spa looked very tired with the decor. Pool was too cold. Overpriced food and drinks. Fish in my sandwich wasn’t very nice, too salty and chewy. Parking was a little annoying but luckily I got a proper space in the end, if it had been in peak season I wonder how you manage with people being able to park. When I booked with booking.com it said we would have a family room with balcony, we did not have a balcony.

Wonderful stay in great location. Arrived early so I could walk into Braunton. Great walk along the beach and coast path, then back to relax in the spa. Spa lovely and clean and not over crowded. Will definitely be back!

The location is insuperable, staff are extremely friendly and helpful, we had an amazing time as a family of 4 and the children loved it. The rooms view was beautiful, the spa and the pool incredible and the playroom was the best!

The mattress was a bit uncomfortable and the restaurant didnt have many vegetarian options

Gorgeous location on top of the cliff overlooking the beach. Staff were super friendly and the food was very good for a hotel restaurant. Pool and thermal spa area was great.

Room was small which I expected but looked over a back area of the hotel and some AC units that kept going most of the stay.

Excellent hotel in a stunning location. We chose a room with a sea view and it was amazing. Great watching the waves break on the beach whilst in the bath! The staff were professional, friendly and efficient. We ate in the hotel every night and the food quality was excellent. Good spa facilities - make sure you think ahead and book the thermal spa as you need to book an hour time slot.

Have stayed here many times over the years, and I have always enjoyed every time I have stayed. Such a relaxing, friendly hotel. The service is exceptional, our dining experience is how all dining experiences should be. Service amazing and the spa is just what you need after a day out on the beach.

Amazing location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Superb views on sea front rooms. Great food at dinner. Spa was good, sauna steam room and jacuzzi. Indoor pool lovely. Interior looks recently renovated and rooms clean and comfortable.

Although it’s an iconic art deco building, the outside despite regular paint jobs looks quite dated and it lacks the wow factor that balconies would provide. It’s also crying out for a rooftop bar but i guess there’s similar architectural constraints here. Having said all that I’d still recommend a stay here.

Fabulous location Loved the evening meal and the fitness classes. The staff were great, friendly and very helpful. The room was cold but very comfortable with the addition of a portable heater.

Quality of coffee and the eggs at breakfast were very disappointing but the rest of the breakfast was good. Paid for two spa treatments (2x 1hr massage) - both only lasted exactly 45 minutes - the time spent relaxing in the wellness area with a cup of herbal tea should really NOT be included in the treatment time - the massage was advertised as £100 for an hour!

Beautiful indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi looking over the sea. Lovely lounge are and excellent food. Fun, outgoing staff who were very welcoming.

The bedrooms need renovation and the bathrooms have rusted fittings. Noisy fans from the kitchen run all night.

The staff really went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. The rooms with a sea view are worth the extra and the breakfast is a buffet which is great and there is lots of choice. I also used the thermal spa and went to a yoga class which were great.

I think that the quality of the meats for breakfast could be better.
