Views are very nice but as soon as Sunday rolled around wait staff got lazy and service dipped? I was the only one at rooftop terrace restaurant and I couldn't get my waiter to come over and see if I needed anything else? He didn't get a tip and I was very pissed off!
Fantastic!
Amazing trip 🙌
Good service and wonderful location
They put us in a room that was under construction and was terribly noisy and unable to sleep during the day at all, They tried moving us to a different room which was small and dirty and they're not at all what we paid for!
Amazing staff, looking forward to coming again.
Here’s a **condensed version under 1500 characters** that keeps the sharp tone and frustration intact: --- This stay was a huge disappointment, made worse by an unaccommodating and dismissive GM who clearly knew about ongoing AC problems. From day one, the AC in my Luxury Suite kept shutting off, leaving the room hot and uncomfortable. Halfway through my stay, it failed completely. Maintenance couldn’t fix it, so I was moved next door for the night, with promises it would be repaired by morning. It wasn’t. When I asked for a second key—since my friend and I were stuck between two rooms—I was told the GM refused. When I spoke with him, instead of showing concern, he interrogated me as though I was doing something dishonest. Insulting doesn’t begin to describe it. When a real HVAC tech finally arrived, he admitted the resort already knew the unit had a leak and that management simply “tops it off” with freon instead of fixing it. He even guaranteed it would fail again. Yet the GM lied to my face, claiming the room hadn’t had an issue in months. His “solution” was to downgrade me to a much smaller Jr. Suite and act like it was a favor. When I asked for fair accommodation, he dismissed me and offered a laughable \$50 bar credit for four nights. To top it off, we were forced to move our own luggage without any help. In total, I lost nearly six hours of vacation to this fiasco. I was lied to, treated with suspicion, and insulted with a token gesture instead of fair treatment.
Everything was perfect
Food 7/10 bed 9/10 . Amenities from Expedia as a platinum member I get a bottle of champagne but I always arrive to my room and I have to ask for it for several times .
The facilities are nice. The pools close at 7pm and 8 pm. The staff seems to tolerate more than welcome gay people. They attempt to close the facilities earlier than the posted closing time for things you have paid to use. Better to stay somewhere more welcoming
Beds are comfortable, room service food was okay
Loved this property. The staff was very welcoming and rooms were clean. Loved both the pools and and the rooftop bar.
The hotel was beautiful. Very clean property, and rooms were excellent as well. Very comfortable beds were appreciated. Very friendly staff in every area of the hotel. We will definitely be back!
If you want to take a nap or sleep on the earlier side don’t stay here. Music is thumping till midnight. Pool side dining was good but food at the top was not. Staff very friendly and pretty resort.
3rd time staying at Walmart, it's the only hotel my wife and I stay at when we're in PV. Staff is nice and accommodating. The food is great, and the drinks. The Drag Show is a lot of fun.
Perfect for your stay in PV, comfortable and welcoming. The view is spectacular
This hotel is pretty awesome! It was our first trip to Mexico, so unsure what to expect. The resort fee was a surprise. NO NEED to book the "VIP" service for transport to and from the hotel - this is FAR overpriced, and it's literally the hotel booking you an UBER in a beaten down car (VIP??). Order your own UBER when you get there - it was easy! DO NOT STOP on your way out of the airport - you'll be caught into more sales pitches that seem authentic until you catch on! The beach club, pool and hotel restaurants were perfection. Staff were amazing, friendly, helpful and seemed authentic in wishing you a good time. House keeping was prompt and very good. We fell into the trap of the timeshare speech - BIG MISTAKE! Out of the whole experience, the guy trying to hard sell us a time share we didn't want really caused a damper on the beginning of the trip - he was kind as can be until we said no, then he got pretty nasty - really hurt the good feel of what all the other staff had created and caused some ill feelings towards the hotel. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS, unless you want to purchase. The area is walkable to clubs and restaurants. Lots of shops. Be ready to be accosted on the beach by the sales peddlers selling bracelets etc - its relentless! Drinks were tasty and strong. Overall, we had a beautiful romantic trip, made some new friends, and created some lifetime memories! Would have been a 5 star rating if not for the nastiness of the timeshare sales guy!
Friendly staff and beautiful view!
The Infinity pool was nice. They were painting on our floor and the smell was horrible. They were building on our floor. Very noisy. Using the property credit was terrible. Somewhat disappointed in the entire experience. Sunday drag show was fun.
The staff (especially the reception and front desk) are extremely rude and bossy. Very abrasive customer service. At their restaurant I was served crabcakes that smelled like they were a month old - the waitress said they were “fine” - then I got food poisoning that last 3 days. The toilet in my room stopped working on the 2nd day, which was quite inconvenient given that I spent most of my trip sitting on it.
Location, pool, and beach access via the Mantamar club are phenomenal. Food is ok, would say go into town to one of the many great restaurants instead but convenient if you want to stay on resort. Spa treatments were ok, but again, cheaper better options in town but convenient on resort. There is not really a resort bar to hang out at, they seat you at a table at the top sky bar which is a little odd to me but maybe you like that sort of thing. The staff there felt a little bit rude to me as a solo traveler who doesn’t drink alcohol but maybe were just joking and I didn’t get it :) I didn’t have any issues with timeshare presentations or check in/out problems, shady staff, AC, or any of the other issues in some of the reviews I have read. Room was very nice/clean/updated and the typical nice hotel chilly air conditioning. I’m not a big partier any more and the vibe here is definitely gay party/boozin’ so probably wouldn’t stay again, but the resort was beautiful and they do a wonderful job. Solid 4/5
I like everything about it
Very friendly staff
Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. From the moment of our arrival until it came time to depart we were treated like family. Beautiful and clean rooms; exactly how it was pictured. Although, going to various floors can be tricky since we used multiple elevators, but after the first night we mastered it. Quick and easy access to their Top Sky Bar and Beach Club which both have incredible ocean views. Also, a quick Uber ride and you’ll be in Zona Romantica. Really enjoyed our stay. We’ll definitely be coming back!
The place was exactly what we were looking for.
I complained about the AC , didn’t work in my 3 nights , they didn’t do anything about even when I reported it more than 5 times
The property was gorgeous. Pool was fabulous, well maintained
The stay was great however, they do go hard on the sales pitches for time shares and whatnot.
Clean, modern and really friendly staff
Loved our stay here! Perfect location. Beautiful views. Easy access to pool and beach. Just wish the food was better (if so there’d be no reason to leave).
I was not able to rest due to noisy construction next to my room. I complained and they ended charging almost 10000 mx pesos as retaliation. This is the worst experience I ever had. I am filing a complaint with Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor if I don’t get refunded.
Great stay
Great place to stay. Minor things that went wrong such as the ac not working properly, getting locked out because the door stopped working. Over all a 3.5 out of 5
Is not the best option, poor English communication , high expenses, For his prices you can find a better option
The deposit was never given back , no communication at all
Terrible hard push to sell Timeshare. Felt like a hostage situation , multiple calls. Ended up steering clear of the concierge and avoiding the welcome breakfast losing $40 because we didn’t show. Not too bothered about the $40 loss in place of avoided hearse sale tactics. Terrible to be bombarded and forced in to listening to timeshare pitch before even getting to our room or been given the keys . Only escorted to the room once we had listened to the initial Sales pitch. I do not recommend this hotel. Plenty of other spots in the area
There were basically no free services. The cost of things wasnt that high but it cost money to make your own coffeein your room. Also i wish they could protect beach guests from constant harassment of beach vendors.
Food here is terrible and room pillows are even worst i requested i firm pillow n i was told that they all the same BRING YOUR OWN PILLOW YOU WILL GET NECK PAIN AFTER SEVERAL NIGHTS
The staff made me feel safe and were very professional
Very disappointed with the entire experience at the Almar Resort and can in good faith recommend this property to anyone.
Be ready for a time share pitch. While the ocean view is beautiful the property has very few full ocean views, which IMO is 180 degrees, their full ocean view is between 90 and 120 degrees. Staff is all very friendly.
This place is an annual go-to for us. There are cheaper places to stay, but the convenience, the staff, and the facilities make it worth every penny! Will definitely continue to stay here.
Nice property and helpful staff
Excellent
The pool was great. Also easy to come and go from Mantamar. Very easy to meet people.
Resort is clean, service is great, and amenities are awesome. The only negative is the long check in process followed by a time share sales pitch they try to lay on you to attend the next day.
I did not like that we had to wait 24 hours to get our room cleaned.
It was our first time in Puerto Vallarta. The Resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. The room was quite large and in excellent condition. We highly recommend the Almar!
Love this place!
Didnt like whlle checking in before i even git a room key they wanted to sell a time share and other attempts were made after repeatedly telling them i wasn’t interested
If you wanna be in the heart of the LGBTQ SCENE. This place is amazing, great customer service and Mantamar is just paradise. The resort is loud but you’re in Mexico so it’s time to partyyyyy.
Location
Our favorite place!
Hotel was nice overall, but the price I’m not sure if it should worth that much, the bed was hard I wish was more comfortable. I d didn’t like that at check in they try to sell u timeshare. It took a bit long to check in. Overall was good though.
Beautiful property, attentive staff, good food and drinks. I did not like vaction club sales presention nor the many guest and visitor rules.
The room smelled badly. Paid a high price for PV for the stay, only to also get dinged with a resort fee and an extra-person fee. Very expensive for what it was.
It’s a bit overpriced for what it is in my opinion although I have stayed here twice. They nickle and dime you on the most random things. The pool and the Mantamar access make it ideal. The whole “I’m your concierge” thing at check-in is really just a time share attempt- that’s the biggest turn off. Don’t tell me you are a concierge, just tell me you are a time share salesperson. They almost force you to go through the speech unless you stand firm. There is no real concierge here.
Check in staff do not clearly communicate resort fee charges and deposits for room charges
Super nice
This hotel is way over hyped. “ Luxury Hotel” I have stay in the hotels all over the world and it’s pricey and just ok at best.. If the room thermostat wasn’t kept at 69 degrees “cold” humidity would come in the room and the floor would be soaking wet. A dam the towels on the outside of my door because if it rained at all water will go in the room… When trying to relax at the private “EDEN” pool the massage guys are as much of a pain in the ass as all the vendors on the public beach.. This was my third staying there and for what they charge I really question a forth time.. my first time writing a review, but there were definitely issues on my previous stays…
This was the second time we stayed at this property. We enjoyed it and had positive experience. minor issues is price of drinks at pool and beach and service was sometimes slow on the beach. We received massages from the hotel and they were GREAT!. Only issue that I don't think you can control is the beach merchandise sales.
I really enjoyed my stay at Almar, I stay there once or twice a year and the staff is very friendly and attentive from arrivals with Javier being very helpful and I enjoy the pool at Eden and Yair the server goes above and beyond to make sure you are completely taken care of and your stay is completely enjoyable, thank you for such a great experience! Javi
The staff and the facilities at the Almar Resort are terrific. I was treated very well and after very little time I was recognized by most of the staff. This is a resort that caters to a specific and special crowd and everyone I encountered tried his/her/their best to make my stay very enjoyable. If you stay at this resort be prepared to for a celebratory and noisy crowd and a noisy neighborhood since many of the surrounding resorts also cater to the LGBTQ crowd. Also, prepare to be offered a sales presentation that offers special services for those who decide to join, and be prepared to pay, in advance, for dining and drink charges that you might incur during your stay. These charges are not unusual, but being forewarned is being prepared.
This our second stay in this hotel and we had a great time. Staff are super friendly. Chris gave us the most amazing massages on the beach. It was very restful and entertaining.
Excellent property great staff lots of amenities and good food. Housekeeping was lacking though.
Property really nice, had a great room with a nice sea view, infinity pool really nice with fantastic sunsets. Pool staff really good. Reception welcome not so good, so many rules to go through then after that your passed onto the concierge welcome who try to schedule you to buy timeshare. Not great after travelling a day and half. Reception team on checkout quite rude. But overall hotel nice, food good.
I loved the staff. Very helpful and went out of their way to help. What I DID NOT like was them immediately trying to sell us a time share. We were not there 10 minutes. She went as far as asking me what i did for a living, which to me is none of her business. All we wanted to do was to check in and start having a good time. The entire time we were there on the third floor, it smelled like mold in the hallways. Our floor got extremely wet after using the hot tub so we only used it the one time. and we were there 5 days. However the front desk did send someone to mop and they told us not to turn up the air conditioning over 22 c. Which was really cold, I do want to be very clear how very helpful ALL the staff was and honestly the most pleasant and helpful than any where i have ever stayed.
Great vacation place
It was great view always clean
Love it here. Just need a bit more communication.
My stay at Almar Resort in Puerto Vallarta was incredible. The resort offers stunning ocean views, luxurious rooms, and top-notch amenities. The Mantamar Beach Club was a highlight, with its infinity pool and excellent service. Dining was a delight, with delicious food and attentive staff. Its prime location near the Zona Romántica made it easy to explore local shops and nightlife. Overall, Almar Resort provided a perfect blend of relaxation, luxury, and adventure, making it one of the best vacations I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!
A very unique place. Something is magic at the Almar. Love it.
I liked the Top Sky bar and access to the Mantamar Beach Club. The food and drink prices were a bit high.
Great Property
Overall we had a great stay. Comfortable bed, good A/C, good service at bars and pools. Some construction noise during the day, but we weren’t there that often. The beachfront would be awesome, but you spend the entire time telling vendors you don’t want to buy anything. That’s not an issue for Alma’s though. That’s just PV. The pools were fun and nice to have the pool party vibe at Mantamar and the more relaxed atmosphere at Eden. All onsite staff were very friendly. Great experience.
I did not like the lack of hot water. You were there five days and then I’ll have hot water any of those days. The hallway smelled like wet dirty mop, and wet dog
Great property! I will be coming back again soon!
Nice warm and sea water pool. Also the access to Mantamar is really good to have.
Everything was wonderful and we really loved the whole time in the place and the areas.
BEAUTIFUL resort. It has everything you could ask for, definitely caters more towards gay men and has an option for whichever is your way to enjoy.. There’s Mantamar Beach Club, which is a great pool party atmosphere with beach access and wait staff to bring you a good selection of food and drinks. The roof top bar was great for breakfast and every night they had drag shows and other entertainment that wasn’t bad. Eden is more chill and super relaxing, and that 50m infinity pool is really something. Very nice aesthetic in Eden The only thing I didn’t like, if I’m being honest, is the timeshare pitch. They sort of code the language and call it a “membership” and are really pushy and assumptive the way they get you to agree to the whole thing. Beware.. a free breakfast or massage is really not worth hours out of your day, unless you really want to pay them in the tens of thousands of dollars to essentially have same vacation for the next ten years, don’t do it. And “no commitment” quickly changes to them interrogating you, fishing for information. They also make it sound like they’re almost entirely members only, but i asked around, and I could not find a single person that was a “member”. Not a single person. The vibe sort of changed after the timeshare experience, because you really get the sense that is what it’s all about. The concierge and all the different employees they pass you off to are all under pressure to get you to buy this timeshare it’s obvious.
Building was beautiful and staff were very polite and professional. Rooms were clean and very comfortable.
Great service, just don’t do the timeshare peach, it takes away from the over all experience.
People were nice
LGBT friendly
Staff was attentive and friendly.
An amazing hotel stay. We were treated like kings and the resort was both relaxing and in the middle of the action! Super fun and very nice accomodations!
Lovely resort.. we will return
Definitely book here again. I recommend the tower over the old building.
I will stay there again very very clean. Great drinks and excellent service.
Nice clean rooms
Property is beautiful, would be awesome if they had an all inclusive option
I have stayed at this resort 3 years ago, this time around everything had change. The resort has become more money hungry and Icalled housekeeping to clean our balcony that was full of sand from the rain storm a night prior, they ignored me all together. This use to be a great place and safe place to stay, needless to say, I will not be returning. They charge way too much for being in Mexico and have gotten out of hand.
Check in process took entirely too long, offered massage and breakfast but only after you tour one of their timeshare locations.
Its always a good experience.
I booked a room with 2 queen beds but was given a room with one king sized bed but that was quickly resolved. The other issue was the air conditioning didn’t work well at night in addition I was in the Mantamar building in what seemed like the basement with a view of the construction site.
Everything was great!
This is a 3-star hotel at a 5-star price. We booked it because it looked fantastic but in real life it’s just an average hotel. Pros - it’s right on the beach - if you don’t plan on leaving the hotel you’re good - the staff were all very nice - it was clean Cons - biggest in the price. Just way too expensive - second is the location. It doesn’t look like it on the map but this is a good solid walk to the main gay bars and restaurants. Basically every time we left the hotel we had to hoof it and in the heat you’re going to be drenched in sweat by the time you get to your destination action. So basically you’re gonna need a taxi. - if you plan on having any ‘fun’ in your room, this is a definite no. All guests must check in and you have to sign a waiver…for every guest. - the drinks were SO expensive. My partner sat by the pool on our first full day and he wasn’t chugging down a ton of drinks and when they brought the bill it was over $300. It was just him - so about $25 per drink. So if we were to come back to PV we would not stay here. There are better, less expensive options.
Beautiful five star resort I would place it in the same category as the Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton hotels. Lush tropical landscaping and beautiful beach club.
The property is ok , but it is over priced for regular access to reclining chairs at pool and beach . We had to pay for any extras , no free food except 2 bottles of water a day we spend over 1000$ in food and drinks in 7 days and half of meals we had somewhere else .
Good place to stay
