It was right next to the venue of my brothers wedding at Inn On The Lake.
Can not fault anything about this Hotel it was great.
The location and atmosphere
The bathroom wasn't clean enough and badly kept
Beautiful country hotel Fantastic breakfast Spacious room Good location Lovely staff
Nothing - all good
Conveniently placed. Bed linen and bathroom clean.
Bit noisy from traffic, mouldy windowsill
The property was very clean and comfortable
me and my fiancé stayed at your property last night and the hotel was actually lovely, lovely food and the room was very nice and clean we had a lovely day hiking and was a nice weekend away for my and my partner, however in the early hours of this morning I woke up to use the toilet and I found around 15-20 wasps flying around the bathroom. I am petrified of wasps and there was nothing my partner could do to get them out without putting him self at risk. I sat for hours trying to ring the reception to which I had no answer. 7am the phone answers to which we get moved to another room. I’m from Cardiff I then had to drive 5 hours home off minimal sleep. I understand the wasps was out of anyone’s control but the reception not answering the calls until 7am and I’m sat in this room with nowhere to go petrified just isn’t right. We did receive a £100 refund however I just don’t think £100 equals the stress of waking up at that time and not being able to sleep alongside the fact we only stayed for 1 night and it was ruined especially after paying £250 odd. These wasps were all dead once we had gone back to the room to collect our belongings before checking out
The breakfast buffet was great - a lot of filling hot and cold options to set you up for a good day of hiking. Location is perfect - it's right across the street from the bus shelter at the main intersection of town, and very close to several hiking trails. Staff was helpful and informative.
The hotel room could use a bit more thorough cleaning. Sheets and the important things were clean, but there were some coffee splashes on the wall, etc. No air conditioning for hot summer months.
The property was very well located with local amenities within walking distance
The room was extremely warm, fortunately there was a fan in the room which we had to use
Our second visit. Very dog friendly. Good pub food. Comfortable room. Location is outstanding. We had a room that also opened onto carpark so ideal for leaving muddy hiking boots at door.
The location is perfect. The breakfast and evening meals were very good.
The rooms and corridors were very hot. Communication beforehand when trying to book a group meal was very poor.
Love Glenridding had a lovely 1 night break for a special birthday all our requirements were meet lovely large room breakfast lovely all round a lovely stay 😘
Nothing too bad booked a table for evening meal which was given to other people & no table available for our stated time so not happy but not really staffs fault as people just decided to sit there and refused to move as had ordered food 🙈
It was all good .lovely room very clean comfy bed. Food was wonderful they were very busy and the food still came out in good time.staff were so nice and very helpful
Nothing
Lovely spacious room which was clean and very comfortable
Good location and friendly staff
Breakfast, bar, location, room
Room vas very warm
Great location, room a nice size but a little dark. Would prefer a room on a higher level but shower was very good and beds comfortable.
Parking is not great - no record of actual registration plates taken at check in despite it saying so in confirmation. No way of knowing who is parking in the very limited spaces out back, should be reserved for paying residents only. The Inn should provide free parking to guests.
Comfortable stay good location
Location is great for walking, some beautiful walks from your doorstep, including Helvellyn.
Both the room and the food are overpriced however that seemed to be true of Glenridding in general. Breakfast wasn't great, if you don't want cooked breakfast the other options were limited.
Location
Poor handling of our son’s food allergy despite clear warnings while ordering food, yet he was served the allergen and started vomiting and we had to attend to him till late in the night.
Friendly staff.
Booked a double but twin beds. Questionable stains on one of the bed sheets, didn’t notice this until the next morning, would have told staff if we had. Ground floor room with access to car park. Too brightly lit on a night, coukd not sit out and enjoy views as lights cancelled any views of the mountains or sky! Dietary requirements are not catered for at all really.
The hotel good location, friendly staff , breakfast good Hotel good location ,friendly staff
Although the rooms themselves where clean, feel that the stairs,, corridors where not a good first impression they needed hoovering on our stay and still needed doing as we left ,half filled glasses left on windowsills etc The bedding had tears in it
Nice room and comfortable beds.
Staff was not very friendly nor efficient when checking in or out.
A wee bit tired. The bartender/ manager told us our room Was on the same Level except it involved 9 steps- why the dishonesty?
It seemed tired but clean and well Kept
location
poor service...no value for money
Spotlessly clean. Large well equipped room. Ideal location. Great views.
Gorgeous location with a lovely breakfast.
Parking was a struggle but they did warn me about this.
It was in a good position
The bar area where dinner and breakfast were set was noisy and dark
The location
The views
Great location to explore the local area. Room was great and we had our dog so they gave us a room with a door to the parking area which works out well when you have a dog traveling with you.

Was a last minute-ish reservations, so it served the purpose. Room big enough for our stay, 2 adults and 2 kids. Good location. Free parking, if you find a space. Fair offer of food at pub for lunch and/or dinner.
Expensive for what it is. Our room was roughly above kitchen, so if wind not blowing you had food smell within the room. Even though, you could smell food in the bathroom. Not the cleanest location we stayed in. Beds were on the soft side. If you like a soft bed, but not my type. Reception is the old inn style, within the pub area. But when you look at the price, you think that a proper, standalone reception would be more adequate. We booked a family room but when arrived the couch was not ready as a bed. We had to extend it and to ask for bedsheets, pillows, etc. They solved the problem, but again, you look at the price and expect a better service.
Location lovely room
Last minute booking and quite expensive
Location was perfect for the end of our 5 day hike from St Bees and would like to go back to explore more of the local area. The room was nicely decorated and clean and the bed was super comfortable. Good shower room. Staff were friendly in the restaurant and bar area and the breakfast was really good - just enough cold options (not trying to do too much) and superb hot cooked breakfast.
Not really enough car parking spaces, but found one easily over the road in the council car park
Poor breakfast with few options. Coffee is poor.
Everything could be better; cleanliness, renovation of the rooms, enough parking space, and etc
Bed really comfortable and room spacious!
Check in was abit chaotic with the desk being in the bar
Great location
Location is great
We were kept awake every night apart from one by banging above us and from the stairwell. We had asked for a quiet room and was probably placed in the most noisy part next to the stairs and above the pub entrance despite trying to call and raise the concern and sending multiple messages and asking the person at breakfast to have the manager call me I have had no response at all to any of the messages sent. Really disappointing
Right next to the lake lovely
Everything was good from start to finish
easy to find, clean rooms good size food portions
rooms were small no air conditioning no directly on the late front as I's expected could have been more obvious where to go to check in pack lunches didn't compare in standard to other hotels
Another great stay here. Great value
Good menu. Interesting options
Good food at a fair price. Comfortable clean rooms, well presented. Helpful staff.
Nothing not to like. Although room was road side noise was minimal and did not effect stay.
Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Good location.
Some parts of the room required a better clean, but overall the standard was ok.
The location is stunning, the lack of cleanliness in the room was not.
The room had not been cleaned... but had been straightened out to appear clean, old used dirty spoon and cup. Makes me worried what else they neaten up rather than clean and put new.
It was calm and peaceful
The facilities were at best modest, and the people are not very friendly.
The location means you just step out of the main entrance straight onto the trails.
Nothing
The hotel was lovely the location absolutely beautiful
The parking wasn't ideal not enough & one member of bar staff was arrogant but the other staff were lovely
Great location lovely hotel
Not enough parking & one arrogant member of bar staff & bath looked really dirty or the top coating
The position.
It is a lot of money per night for a basic hotel. Wasn’t child friendly for younger children. The bedroom door could be easily opened by a 2 year old and no way to lock it.
Location brilliant room & breakfast was lovely 😍
Good location.
Very beautiful decor.. Perfect location. Central for everything glenridding has to offer. Food was very nice and price was good. Room had a lovely view.
There was nothing we didn't like
Location brilliant. Right next to wedding venue we were going to. Pub seemed clean inside. Menu seemed good.
Staff were just not friendly or helpful. This was reinforced after being at the hotel next door where every member of staff was positive and welcoming and couldn’t do enough. Stairs up and down everywhere. Didn’t feel safe. Downstairs area inside was dingy and isolating. Bar staff didn’t smile. We seemed to be in the way.
Clean spacious
I liked everything
Very comfortable beds, spacious room, location excellent 👌

Excellent location. Good parking. Room was spacious and comfortable. Good pub food and really food breakfast.
Could've provided thinner or softer pillows for kids, though I didn't ask either.
Amazing location right on the lake, the food was also so good! Would highly recommend this for somewhere lovely to stay after a day of hiking!
Nothing it was perfect.
Great staff and location, coupled with the weather a great weekend
It was all good
Breakfast was awesome. Easy check in and great location
Great location for our one night stay. Friendly staff accommodating us and our dog, great sized room facing the road, not noisy, very reasonable priced bar, very clean throughout.
Food was reasonable. Don't expect fine dining quality but it was hot, well presented and a good sized portion..the chef went out of his/her way to provide us with what we wanted 8/10.
El lugar y la habitación es fantástica
Location
Little busy
Hôtel avec charme au bord du lac , possibilité de souper et petit déjeuner sur place
Chambre familiale un peu petite
Great location on the Coast to Coast walk. Spacious room and friendly staff.
Breakfast was quite limited compared to other B&Bs we stayed in on our 2 week walk. Felt it was pricey for what we received.
Brilliant location of hotel in stunning Glenridding village, with immediate access to the lake and surrounding hills. Room was a good size, well appointed with all amenities. Service at hotel was good and the breakfast was excellent.
The decor in the hotel is a little dated, so could do with refreshing. Also, the room was extremely hot and had limited/no ventilation, no fans provided or AC at the hotel, so was not comfortable overnight given the hot weather - admittedly not a typical level of heat this summer which is hard to plan for.
Location
The location was perfect
Our room smelt awful, we did mention it to staff who put some bleach down the drains and sprayed some air freshener but the only helped for an hour. Was a mouldy/musky smell and for the price of the room id like to not smell like a toilet when I walk in
The hotel is nice and the staff were pretty friendly
The room was a ridiculous temperature with a small fan and a very low opening window so we couldn’t keep it open due to the little ones in our party. Their bed was located right at the window
The bar area was nice and some of the staff
Older barman with open shirt and chains kept on cleaning his nails behind the bar while serving drinks and food
Excellent location, friendly staff. Our room opened onto the car park, with a magnificent view
All good nothing to dislike
The location, the hotel, the staff team. Public transport links
Length of stay, 2 nights was not enough
We went for 3 nights in August, whilst exploring the area. We ate breakfast each morning and had dinner there two evenings. The food was lovely and of good quality. Value for money. Most staff were very friendly, and happy. They listened, helped, and fussed our dogs which is always a bonus. The decor is beautiful, the pub looks great and is really tasteful. We had a family room which meant the girls had their own room with a bunk bed, they loved having their own space away from us. We also really liked how dog friendly the inn was. The car park is tiny and it was full when we arrived at 4pm, so we paid to park across the road. In the evening we noticed a space so went and moved the car. We also appreciated that we could charge our car at the inn and the rate was cheaper than most public chargers.
We had a power cut on the first day, they were receptive and came to investigate, realised it was the bathroom light and replaced it the same day. They did give us some complimentary cake to compensate. The staff members that spoke to us that day were very nice. However the next day we realised there were multiple water leaks from the bathroom ceiling. We were on the top floor so could only assume it’s from the roof, with heavy rainfall. This would explain the power cut the day before. We went to tell the staff downstairs and were met with a poor attitude that insinuated ‘well what do you want me to do?’ We were surprised at this. It was a different man who we hadn’t seen before. He was very different from other staff we had encountered. When the cleaner came to our room she took photos of the leak that was now pouring into our bathroom, but we didn’t hear anything more. We used towels to soak it up. When you book a very expensive stay, you don’t really expect these issues.
Great location . Nice beds and clean room. Efficient service and nice staff
For walkers a boot room / drying room would be good .
Wir haben sehr gut gegessen. Und mit dem green homekeeping bekommt man ein Getränk aufs Haus.
Great location, excellent breakfast
Beautiful Hotel, Very Clean. Super Comfy beds. Friendly helpful staff. Great Breakfast.
Booked a lake view room, Ended up overlooking a carpark, if you looked right you could see the edge of the lake, but to sell it as a Lakeview room is definitely a wild exaggeration. I paid extra on booking.com for a Lakeview room granted not a massive amount more, but more nevertheless. When I brought it up at reception, I was slightly perplexed by his answer, well you paid less than you would if you had booked direct with the hotel for a lake view. Does it matter where I booked, I was sold it as a Lakeview and it didn't have a Lakeview!!
Really cozy, comfortable room and staff were super welcoming and helpful
I like a spotlessly clean bathroom- this was 9/10 . Not enough parking spots so had to park in lake carpark
The fried breakfast was Luke warm & I had fruit compot which was still frozen on my second stay. Bread was lovely
The was nothing wrong with my first room it was to noisy with traffic even with the windows closed plus people upstairs to noisy so I had to move & I had a better nights sleep in room 111 & the room was with a beautiful view of the fells so that made up for for my missed nights sleep so I would stay again for that view & peace .
Very convenient location - room had a bath which I always prefer and room had a fan. Friendly staff
It was 200 yards from the start of my Ultra Marathon
It was too hot
Scenery and close to the lake
A manager working on reception with an awfully rude manner. High prices. Shower was like a trickling tap. Struggled to sleep with the noises of other residents next door and above. Very limited free car park compared to the amount of rooms in the hotel.
Lage, nahe Wanderwege (mit dem Boot nach Howtown und zu Fuß zurück), sehr gutes Essen.
Personal war nett, etwas zu schnell.
Great location, so easy for Hellvlyn and glennridding dodd. So many parking options around. Close to Ullswater steamers. Comfy spacious rooms, probably the biggest in the lakes. Very clean. Great breakfast.
Slightly short staffed even when not busy On-site Parking is limited
Great location, lovely room with Lakeside views. Friendly staff.
Friendly staff. Great breakfast and location. Easy check in/out.
Couldn’t park in the carpark as full
Location great , great food , lovely staff . Really comfortable beds can't wait to return .
One criticism with parking we felt like we couldn't move the car in fear of someone else getting there. . Didn't feel that you should have to go pay for parking if you're staying in the hotel .

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
6.8/10Mixed reports: one room had a strong mouldy/musky smell and required bleach/air freshener, while other guests described rooms and beds as clean. Overall some cleanliness/odour issues lowered this score.
Service
9.1/10Generally praised for friendly, helpful staff, attentive responses to a power cut and complimentary gestures; however there were isolated incidents of poor attitude from a staff member and an unprofessional bar worker.
Location
9.5/10Repeatedly highlighted as excellent — central, great for exploring the area and close to public transport and the lake; consistently the strongest positive in reviews.
Room Quality
7/10Some comfortable, clean rooms and good beds noted, but other guests reported issues: poor ventilation/temperature, small windows, room layout problems and significant water leaks from the ceiling.
Amenities
8.9/10Strong points include a pleasant bar area, dog-friendly policies and on-site EV charging; drawbacks include a very small car park and lack of dedicated boot/drying facilities for walkers.
Value for Money
7.6/10Mixed: food and some stays seen as good value, but guests complained about paying extra for advertised 'lake view' rooms that faced the car park and unexpected issues during an expensive stay.
Food and Beverage
9.2/10Multiple positive comments about quality of food and breakfasts; pub meals described as lovely and good value, a clear strength for the property.
Overall Experience
8.3/10Overall positive stay with excellent location, good food and generally friendly staff, offset by occasional significant issues (room odour, leaks, and a few service lapses).
