Best Western Garfield House Hotel

The restuarant staff were lovely and the food was fantastic.

The cleanliness left alot to be desired. There was other peoples hair on the bathroom floor, thick dust around the edges of the carpet, and the switches/remote were really grubbyl. But could not fault the bed, ot the size of the room.

Room 17 was on top a fan or an electric motor that made noise all night.

Stayed many times before

We booked an executive room 5 but unfortunately it was right over an event where there was loud music till midnight. This was not really a problem but I would have thought that due to this event we would have been given an equivalent room at a quieter part of the hotel. Staff should consider this based on what is going on in the hotel !!!

Room rather dark. No bedside cabinet at one side of bed. Slight leak from sink. Didnt like where the tea facilities were stored- steam from kettle rose up to shelf above. Would have preferred to be offered a no pet room.

Recepetion staff member on arraival was not overly welcoming or friendly.

Location was great, just where we needed. Easy for parking, building has character with Older rooms high ceilings large size, clean and comfortable.

A little dated, noisy upstairs because of a wedding, on the first evening we arrived at reception 6pm it was cheerful and friendly and we booked in and went round for a meal. The staff were great but the food was poor. Small and not the best quality for the price. In the mornings we were up and out at 5:45 and barely got a grunt, Friday morning never saw anyone, Saturday reception gave a grunt and continued playing on their mobile phone and on Sunday receptionist was dealing with a person going to the gym so never spoke. We just left the keys and went. The food was really poor and expensive. 4x the price of the black bear ( Wetherspoons) a few miles away, and sadly didn’t taste as good and drinks were double the price for exactly the same. Guinness zero £6 Wetherspoons £3. So the following 3 days we went somewhere else. Not often i put a bad review I work in the trade and don’t believe in it, at same time I’d be lying if i said it was great.

Standard room was very small. Bed too small and had an u comfortable night. We had exec room on previous stays, which was very spacious. We’re told we couldn’t have that this time as we had dog with us. They should consider allocating One or two of these as dog-friendly. You tend to need MORE space when bringing furry friend along . Standard room was particularly small. Our one also had an unpleasant fusty damp odour .

Good all round hotel

Clean, modern. Comfortable bed. Good facilities. Staff were very happy, pleasant and helpful. The bar was stocked with different beer on tap to the normal found in bars. I had a Madri. Worth trying. Bar staff and breakfast staff were ready to please.

There wasnt anything to dislike.

Dinner was OK. Could have done with a wee bit more and the mash is definitely frozen mash. Staff were helpful on reception 99% of the time. Breakfast was nice and staff were great. Room was nice and big, clean and bed was very comfortable. All cleaning staff were very pleasant.

The only negative was there was no one on reception to check out in the morning and no key drop dox. Receptionist was in the back on the phone and no one to cover reception. Many people were waiting and many just gave up waiting for speaking to the receptionist or to book out and just left. That soured a nice stay to be fare. oh and there was a very large and sharp chip out of the toilet with a razer sharp edge to it.

Staff were all so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Lovely big room tastefully decorated as was the rest of the hotel. For lunch the starter and dessert was lovely. Breakfast was a bit of a let down for us as a large coach party had been in and there was practically nothing left when we went down at 10am. The staff member did say to ask if something was missing but being our first morning there we didn’t know what to expect. Our friends stayed the night before and said the selection was great but sadly it wasn’t for us. It would’ve been nice if it had been replenished.

See above… also the beef we had as a main meal most of us didn’t like. Blade of beef. Presentation was like a round mould which made it unappetising and it looked like a can of cesar dog food. Sorry to be blunt but that was the comment made by a few of us.

Close to where I needed to be for my work. Location easy to get to. Staff friendly and competent. Comfortable bed and good temperature throughout. Fan available in the room for hot nights. Bathroom clean and plenty of hot water.

I noticed the view from my room not great but that didn’t really matter. Floorboards creaked a little.

A lot of choice at breakfast, especially on the cooked side. And it was nice that the cooked option was served to your table instead of being a self-service buffet, which is what I was expecting. The 'tower fan' provided in the room was also a nice touch. Hotel is a bit outside of the city centre, so for a non-driver like myself the nearby (10 minute walk) Stepps station was very handy.

I found that the window in my room wouldn't close completely, and there was quite a lot of traffic noise from the nearby dual carriageway. I'm glad I packed earplugs!

The pictures don’t show the standard rooms, the shower kept going hot and cold and the shower curtain is awkwardly placed and sticks to you, the shower was dripping all night and you can hear everyone walking past the room in the morning

Would NEVER recommend. Room was 86 degrees with no air conditioning. Front desk staff claimed that all rooms were the same so nothing could be done, not even a room change. However when I asked another lodger about their room, they said that it was a decent temperature. We literally had to leave the front door and window open just to get the room temp down to 77 degrees. How can an entire hotel (lobby, recp., hallways) be air conditioned, but not the rooms we pay to sleep in! Will never be staying at another BW again.

2nd time staying here and it did not disappoint :-) In fact it was better than our last stay. This time we had a bigger room and again the food was really good! Really comfy bed, nice decor, clean and everything was provided in the room including bottled water, a fan, biscuits, tea/coffee. Great location & parking.

Need to get rid of the shower curtain!

Room was really clean, there was also a fan in the room. Staff really friendly. Really big car park, so plenty of parking. There was a wedding happening at the time of our stay, but we heard no noise from the wedding party.

I would have liked bottled water in the room, previous Best Western Hotels we have stayed in provide bottled water. Also the beans served at breakfast could be hotter, they were luke warm.

The plug socket at the side of the bed was making a zapping noise with the fan plugged in, staff moved plug to another socket and it was fine, but it just mentioned we couldn't charge phones next to us, if they get it fixed though there should be no issue atall with the room.

The welcome at reception was lovely, friendly and professional. Has a really large car park too. The room was large, clean and comfortable, had everything we needed and more. Bottled water, biscuits, toiletries and even galaxy hot chocolate. The bed was really nice and shower was very powerful with great heat. The food here was amazing and reasonably priced. Service was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very polite. This place will definitely staying on the favorites list.

Very minor dislike was the pillows had rubbish covers on, very paper like, not very soft and the shower head was fixed (not adjustable) apart from that, excellent.

Disturbed at various points during the night by guests coming and going. No usb sockets in the room, which I find a little odd, as they are generally available at most hotels that I stay at, except Best Western.. Some of the staff on reception, were less than welcoming; I really felt like I was inconveniencing them when I checked out.

Almost everything about this hotel is great. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food isn't bad.

It was like an oven in my room. There's a big window, but only a small skylight opens. It was like walking into an oven and it stayed like that all night. The fan was like trying to cool yourself down with a hair dryer!! My advice would be to keep the curtains closed all day to stop the rooms over heating.

I didn’t have breakfast as I don’t normally eat breakfast but I had an evening meal brought to my room. The food and service was both excellent. The room itself was very spacious and relaxing and very quiet so I was able to get a good nights sleep. I would certainly stay again and recommend the hotel. Thank you.

Die Temperatur im Zimmer war fast unerträglich warm auch mit dem Gebläse war es sehr warm Leider kein Aufzug im Hotel, mussten die schweren Koffer in den ersten Stock schleppen.

I have stayed here before and as always, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are always clean and well presented, and the bar and restaurant are very well priced for the quality. The breakfast is also fantastic with a great selection. I would definitely recommend and hopefully will visit again on my next visit to Glasgow.

One of the reception staff (female working on Friday morning) needs some lessons in grace and decorum. The reception staff working Thursday night was excellent as was the person who greeted us with breakfast on Friday morning to the room.

The room was clean

We paid more than a hundred pounds for 2 people and a dog stay in this hotel for one night. We were given room 18, which was very very hot and noisy during we stay. We hardly had any sleep the whole night. We had to open the window all night but the room was still very hot as the fresh air can't get into the room due the window position. We went out and found out room 18 is right above downstair kitchen , the noise from maybe cold room or fridge frezer were very loud , a diary delivery van came in at 3am and parked right below the room window and didn't swich off engine until he finished his job and finally drove off. This sort of room really shouldn't exist in such a good chain hotel. Very disappointed and will never choose any western hotel again.

It fitted with the location I was in after coming out of surgery I needed a bed for the night as I wasn’t able to drive up north as was still recovering

Stupidly there was a full blown wedding reception going on from 7pm with some really good 80’s music which meant I didn’t get off to sleep early

The food was good

Garfield hotel is in a great position for accessing Glasgow on public transport as well as the wider attractions. Loch Lomond, Culross, The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel are within easy reach by car to name a few. Breakfast was part self service with hot food being table service and good quality and we ate a couple of times in the restaurant which was good value. The staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful. There were a couple of minor housekeeping issues which were dealt with when reported and didn't impact our stay. Should we visit Glasgow again, which is likely, we would definitely stay and we will recommend to others.

I arrived pretty late, the staff did everything to speed up my check in, ensured that everything was right and comfortable, booked my breakfast late but I got it on time. A pleasant gentleman, who knew his assignment.

Not a massive amount if I'm honest! The staff were great and the sheets were clean.

Seemed a bit tired, I was in an executive room which makes me wonder what the normal rooms are like. No aircon; fair enough, It wasn't listed as a feature but in a ground floor room with a window that opens onto the car park, if you're somebody that worries about security, you're not going to want to leave it open. Bathroom far too hot as the heated radiator was on and you couldn't turn it off. Not very good pillows. Breakfast was fine, fish and chips in the evening wasn't great. If you need a room near the business park it's fine, but I can't imagine any other reason to stay there.

Schönes Hotel vor den Toren Glasgows. Freundliche Mitarbeiter,sehr gutes Frühstüksbuffet und viele, freie Parkplätze direkt vor dem Hotel.

Unter unserem Zimmer war die Abzugshaube der Küche, und diese war bis spät Abends sehr laut zu hören. Leider kein Aufzug vorhanden.
