location, friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, fabulous food
It’s great
Breakfast is fantastic
A very convenient stop over for one night on my further way north. I found the staff welcoming and helpful and dog friendly. My room was spacious and bed comfortable
Nothing
Great stop over location for what I needed.
Very friendly and welcoming staff in reception, restaurant and bar - lovely atmosphere. Food was great both at dinner and breakfast. Room was comfortable.
It was rather noisy but that's only to be expected as it was a Saturday night with a wedding going on!

What a beautiful hotel. Such friendly staff, and a warm welcome for our little dog too. The restaurant is a must, delicious food, lovely atmosphere and amazing cocktails. Make sure to try the "have your cake" The bed was so comfy & our 1st hotel trip with our dog was brilliant. We used this as a pit stop batween traveling Scotland in our campervan.
However i think paying an extra 20 pound for a dog to stay is a bit over the top. Especially when ours is smaller than a cat. Dosent malt. And is cleaner than most people's kids. Room wise there was quit a few things that could be sorted to make it better. The holder for the hand held shower head was broke so wouldnt stay up to the right height. The toilet seat was to small for the toilet so when in use kept moving. There's no ventilation in the bathroom so it's boiling after a shower. The tv was in the corner of the room on the wall. With no bracket that moved So was very awkward to see. . As there was 2 mirrors next to each other. This should be changed to the middle. Our room was next to one of the hallway doors. It was sooo noisy. People forever slaming it and waking us up. Breakfast is only on till 9 30 am. We were not told this on check in. So only just made it. But felt a bit awkward and rushed. As we were told there was a funeral coming in. Check outs at 11. So thought breakfast would be till then. Make sure you don't miss it. As its a really good menu. Overall would give a 7.5 out of 10. If a few things were sorted above could easily be a 9.
The staff, food and room
A bit noisy because of a wedding at 1 in the morning, but OK People were in high spirits and enjoying themselves
Réactivité du personnel et gentillesse. Très bon accueil. Emplacement très calme et bonnes prestations.
Accès wifi un peu faible à l'etage
Very friendly Excellent service Peaceful location First class restaurant
Room decor was a bit dull
Breakfast was good, the room was comfortable, but I thought it was overpriced for one night. We where guests at a wedding.
Price.
Staff
Room well appointed, very friendly and helpful staff, go above and beyond normal service levels.
Nothing
It was convenient for us clean tidy excellent food drinks were good staff was excellent
Hotel is lovely, grounds and garden kept nice with flowers and furniture, inside restaurant/bar nice and bright and clean, staff very friendly and accommodating. Room quite basic, comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning we had a bit of wait, food came but not very hot.
Excellent breakfast and location - nice bar and friendly reception
Music on too early in the morning in the reception/bar area
Lovely location
Everything was fine during the stay. Interesting cocktails menu, shame no real ale on tap.
Grounds not as big as expected.
Location was important

Nothing!
Staff are super friendly and the bedrooms are very spacious.
Toilet seat was too small for the toilet with a gap of about 10cm from seat to front of toilet, which was quite strange.
Stayed one night whilst attending a funeral. The hotel were very accommodating providing us with one of our two rooms by 11.30am so we could get changed and relax after our long journey before the funeral. My son and I had a twin ground floor room which was spotlessly clean, had everything we needed and loved the walk in shower. After the funeral, we came back to the hotel (12 people) for afternoon tea which was spot on and nice to sit in the cool veranda. Good quiet nights sleep. Only thing missing from the room was an information sheet with meal times etc. Breakfast staff extremely friendly and good menu, didn't like the flat sausage, sloppy scrambled egg and no has browns. However, the haggis was delicious and appreciate it was a traditional Scottish breakfast. Excellent staff who couldn't do enough for us. Massive car park. Good location for town centre. Would stay again.
Friendly staff. Plenty car parking, clean and tidy. Food was reasonable. Slightly tricky to find but on the whole a nice stop off destination.
Slightly tricky to find.
Plenty of parking .. beautifully decorated. . Very comfy bed and very clean ..
Having read other reviews, I made sure before I booked that there were no weddings / similar celebration events booked the same day / night (Thursday) and asked for a quiet room, which the staff kindly obliged with. The room was quiet and cool - exactly what I needed. The steak frites I ordered in the evening was excellent. One of the best steak meals I've had - ever. I'd detour cross-country off the M74 to eat that again. Gorgeous. Great cooking. The full Scottish breakfast included in the room rate was very good and plentiful too. Quality ingredients (incl haggis and Lorne from Campbells of Linlithgow). Loads of free parking too. Getting there - just watch out with the satnav directions - the hotel is directly accessible from the main road (Hamilton Road) - don't let it take you up Overton Road which is a residential area only and no access to the hotel. Strathaven Hotel is quite the find from my perspective. The B&B rate I paid for my single room was simply great value for money. If you're heading up to the Highlands via Loch Lomond and need to break the journey, but want a quality overnighter in a nice area, then - barring potential big celebration events happening at the hotel on the day/ night - I'd say it's very much worth the slight detour off the M74 to Strathaven. The town itself is also very pretty. You'll also find there are other ways to get to Erskine Bridge !!!
Cosmetic stuff in the room: Bit odd that there was no loo roll holder in the bathroom and the desk looked tired and needed some attention. Very minor things really though - everything else in the room was mainly very good. Food: Wasn't convinced by the torched mackerel starter. I'd order something else next time.

Everything about the hotel was very good. For a start, I was able to book just before I left for Scotland on 31st July when the hotel that I had booked to stay in suddenly closed and I had to find somewhere else at very short notice. I arrived in the middle of a wedding, but that did not hinder the staff in dealing with other guests like me extremely well and efficiently. The Restaurant staff were also very helpful and efficient both for the evening meal and breakfast too.
Initially there was a bouncy castle outside of my room so I heard the air blower for the first part of the evening, but that was dismantled by the time I got back from dinner. Although there was a music event for the wedding, the music was turned off before I went to sleep and it was a very comfy bed. The room was also well appointed too. The only other issue was the the shower, it would be helpful if instructions could be printed somewhere near the shower controls for those customers who have sight impairments.
Good room and bathroom facility. Nice airy and modern bar and dining area.
Position, staff were really good, good breakfast.
Sticky room door and rattling windows.
We stayed here for 4 nights. We had room 19 which was a lovely spacious room with beautiful walk in shower. All the staff here are attentive and the food is very good. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the downpipe outside our window was broken and as we had heavy rain it was noisy. This had still not been addressed by the time we left. The pillows are also hard. Otherwise I would stay here again. We were there for my dad's funeral and the food for the family lunch was excellent.
The staff were super lovely, friendly and helpful. They made sure I was able to get dinner and breakfast with my dog. The food was so good, I already want to go back.
Beautiful hotel with fabulous staff and food. Jessie was so attentive during the breakfast. Room was spacious and well appointed.
The pillows were too hard for us and a broken downpipe outside our bedroom window disturbed my sleep due to the noise when it rained.
Big comfy rooms
Tired poorly maintained room while bathroom was modern a complete. Almost rather the bathroom was clean old but in good order and windows were in properly maintained condition and you could keep them open!
Excellent value for the room , I did think the hotel restaurant was a tad expensive but food quality was good and speedy .
Clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely outside garden area with tables to sit. Good quality and choice of food. Staff very welcoming and friendly. There was a wedding taking place when we arrived. This did not affect our stay and still enough staff to serve at the bar and restaurant area. Nothing was too much trouble.

Had two nights here- lovely hotel and very friendly staff- yes, strong recommendation
Beautiful property in a lovely town. Staff were fantastic and went out their way to help. Even making us a take away breakfast as we had to leave early in the morning.
Nothing
Location, room, food and staff were great.
Hairs in the bath. I felt obliged to clean the bath before I used the shower.
Lovely building in a convenient location for a stop off between Skye and Nottingham
A bit tired in places
The staff was lovely it had a relaxed feel about it need to book again soon x x
There was nothing I did not like
Lovely grounds and bedroom a decent size
Breakfast took around an hour to be served - but the staff apologised several times for the delay
Friendly staff. Hotel room was spotless clean. Comfortable bed.
Location of room right next to fire door at top of stairs was banging shut from 5:30am onwards by other guests.
Good location, nice room, very clean, friendly staff, the food was very good (breakfast and dinner), good value for money.
The Wifi was pretty slow and would cut out occasionally.
Perfect for an overnight stay with my dog.
The place is great and has a lovely atmosphere and the servers are extremely happy and joyful they made our experience wonderful
Reception staff (Morgan) was excellent - exceeded expectations and couldn't do enough for you.
Food wasn't the greatest. Waited ages on breakfast being cooked in the morning.
Convenient location. Nice rooms , good restaurant and food choice
Very friendly staff and the food is excellent.
No A/C
Very friendly staff (especially the receptionists), stunning decor and location. Breakfast was delicious
Only criticism is there was an old champagne cork and crisp wrapper down the side of the bed and a lot of dust in the wardrobe. Wouldn’t put me off coming back though.
Really friendly staff, lovely breakfast, great location, room rate very competitive
Draft beer extremely expensive (£7.30 for a pint of Moretti), school prom taking place and noisy until 11pm. Would have been nice to have been told about the prom so I could have booked another room on opposite side of hotel. Travelling on business so wanted an early night due to early start and driving.
Had the most amazing stay here last night. The staff went above and beyond and were very attentive. The food was next level. Couldnt fault a thing would highly reccommend this hotel
Great hotel, lovely breakfast.
Ein gemütliches kleines Hotel, etwas renovierungsbedürftig aber sauber und sehr nettes Personal.
Having booked a single bed room via hotel.com, I was surprised when I got to my room as it was a double bed and very nice room. Next day at breakfast I was told that they had made a mistake and I had to vacate the room and be put into the single bed room. I was not the best pleased at having to pack up then in pack this wasted my stay there. Furthermore the single room was clean but grubby and tired was and in need of upgrade, the bathroom was spotless. This whole experience was not one that I have encountered before lacked professionalism and attention to detail. On top of that the room for my second night was below the wedding venue that was on and the music was blaring, found it hard to sleep, hence score given.
Great room very comfortable. Bar and restaurant very good we had a lovely meal and great Breakfast.
Nothing
Lovely building, plenty of car parking. Outdoor bench tables to sit end have a drink. Very dog friendly, tables in bar area where can comfortably sit and have dinner/breakfast with our Labrador. Staff were lovely, welcoming and very helpful and accommodating.
Room was very warm, but otherwise clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ok- coffee was poor.
Great location, friendly staff and food quality excellent for both breakfast and dinner !
Nothing.
Fabulous location and service
Comfortable overnight stay. Comfortable beds, clean and good sized room. Nice toiletries. Good breakfast - cereals/yoghurts, variety of cooked breakfast options, toast.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Value for money
Every single member of staff was pleased to see you, and helpful.
That I didn’t book for longer
We were going to a wedding nearby & the staff ordered us a taxi & managed to give us an esrly check in to get ready, brekky was great, good variety
Lovely hotel!
Location
Didn’t find any faults
I can't recommend The Strathaven Hotel highly enough. The staff give 100% then go a bit extra too, they are all lovely but Stacey is a shining star, friendly, caring and a warm welcome for all. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was buzzing and we got a little sunshine so had a drink outside in the lovely garden area. I didn't stay but my sister had only good comments about her room. Plenty of parking and a short stroll into the town. This is somewhere I'll be returning to with friends and family at every opportunity. Thank you everyone, you're all a credit to the hospitality industry. ❤️
Location & Staff
Squeaky floors, loose toilet seat & tap
The staff were lovely and very accomodating as we had to check in early to drop our luggage and then not return till very late due to a family commitment.
Spotlessly clean, good bar and restaurant. Good breakfast. Lots of free parking.Staff very friendly.
Nothing
Very friendly staff, room was clean warm and quiet 😊.
Staff and set up , food , ambiance
Nothing really just the same as every Scottish hotel … bedroom s too hot
Helpful staff.Good food. Good car park. Nice bar area.
Wear and tear in places.
We only stayed one night, as I suspect many people do, while travelling. We arrived at about 3.30 and after waiting at reception for a while, went to the bar to try to find someone to check us in. The room, on the ground floor, had no window that opened and no air conditioning or ventilation. The bathroom was very well worn, as were the pillows and mattress. It wasn’t anywhere near the quality of a premier inn. We ate an early evening meal which was nice, the bar staff were lovely and this raised the overall experience a great deal. After a hot and uncomfortable night we went for breakfast. Once again we could find no one to serve us (at 8.15). Eventually we got someone from reception to find a waitress. The breakfast was greasy and not very pleasant, we had to pay extra for a cappuccino. Most of the food was left. On checkout, we waited again, until eventually a tradesman who’d come to work in the kitchen went in search of a member of staff. In all, I can’t recommend the hotel. The bar, for meals, was busy and good with pleasant, efficient staff.
Stayed here for a couple of nights for work and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated and modernised. Food was fantastic and staff really friendly and attentive.
Breakfast was excellent great selection
Very Coltrane and comfortable
Staff and food was great
The old sash windows banged with the wind
Pleasant staff, lovely Hotel
Can’t say anything
The location. The room we had was beautiful. Food was amazing and every member of staff we met was friendly and helpful.
Nothing
Welcoming staff , comparable and clean rooms, modernised common areas. Good well layed out parking.
Very little.
Breakfast was very good and hotel was picked because of the location for work travel.
In regard to purchasing an evening meal … the starters and sweet’s were expensive for what they were. The window in room 18 wants new seals (quite a draft blowing through)
Lovely gardens & a lovely friendly welcome
Nothing
Had some difficulty finding it at first, but once we did, we were happy. It's in a quiet location. Lots of stairs, but that was to be expected, so we only brought in what we needed for the night. Room was well appointed and comfortable. We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner, but we did for breakfast the next morning. No complaints! Staff was friendly and helpful.
All was good!

Lovely and cozy, very caring staff who go out their way. Location is quiet and easy to get to with beautiful gardens. The room was quiet even though a wedding was taken place. Also dog friendly. Breakfast was fantastic and great value for money. Will definitely be staying again!
Julie in the restaurant was fantastic.
To be honest there was nothing I didn’t like about the Strathaven Hotel. Always my first choice whenever I am up in Strathaven.

The receptionist with the croaky voice was amazing
nothing
Very comfortable and clean- great facilities and accommodated a family meal at short notice - great staff
Comfortable bed.
Room super small you can hardly use the hand basin it is so tiny. Had to carry my suitcase up two flights of very narrow stairs. No lift. Waited at reception for at least 20 min to check in along with others...no one available at reception to do the check in. Terrible meal in the in house restaurant.
Amazing staff, lovely rooms , beautiful food , everything was fantastic! Child friendly , and the staff were so helpful with everything!
Great location and lovely place
Nothing
The breakfast was very good with a very nice ambience to the restaurant. The room was nice and clean with the staff helpful.
The shower tray didn't drain properly. There was some sort of air conditioning unit that made a lot of noise outside of our window which made sleeping a little difficult.
Friendly, warm and well appointed.

My daughter treated me to a birthday lunch here . I havent been to the hotel for many years so it was a lovely treat. Food was delicious and staff so friendly . Definately returning soon . 🙂
