Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Absolutely one of the best stays I've ever had! The staff was amazing and incredibly helpful, and the hotel features a clean, super minimalistic design. They offer a very nice breakfast with traditional choices and excellent blended coffee. I actually returned to this hotel during my trip to Japan just because the quality of the stay was so high. It’s located in the old Yanaka area, which is calm, quiet, and full of atmosphere. It's also very convenient – only 3 minutes to the nearest metro station and 5 minutes to Nippori Station, where you can catch a direct train to the airport in just 40 minutes. I will definitely be coming back!

Reviewed Aug 18, 2026Superbe séjour à Hanare. Petit déjeuner délicieux et plusieurs formules possibles au café, il faut juste réserver à l'avance mais c'est très simple et cela en vaut la peine. Très arrangeante, l'équipe nous a préparé des box petits déjeuners pour le 2ème matin où nous partions avant les horaires de service. Salle de bain partagée très propre. Accueil et petites attentions apportées au top. Séjourner à Hanare est une super alternative pour connaître un habitat plus traditionnel tout en conservant le confort.
Rien. Tout s'est bien passé. La maison est ancienne et il faut accepter un escalier un peu raide et une acoustique moins insonorisée que dans d'autres établissements plus modernes.

L'hôtel et les accueillants sont supers. Mais ne peuvent rien contre les gens peu respectueux de leurs voisins. La maison est très sonore et exige du calme la nuit, le fait de faire très attention, de marcher comme un chat. Si des arrivants s'en fichent, ce qui a été notre cas, difficile de dormir ou de ne pas être réveillés.

Die Mitarbeiterinnen waren zugewandt und beantworteten alle unsere Fragen kompetent und immer mit einem Lächeln, das ansteckte und fröhlich machte. Alles ist liebevoll eingerichtet mit der Liebe zum Detail. Großzügig kann man sich am Wasserspender bedienen und die Gutscheine für die Badehäuser sind der Hit. Diese Unterkunft ist anders als andere. Sie ist ein echter Geheimtipp.
Es gab nichts zu beanstanden. Höchstens, dass es sehr hellhörig ist. Aber das Positive überwiegt so, dass wir diesen Punkt gerne vernachlässigen.

Reviewed Jun 27, 2026This was our first trip to Japan and we are so glad we spent our first few days with Hanare at the Niwo house (triple bedroom with private bath). It was perfect for our small family, and the service was exceptional right from the start. Momo welcomed us with lovely tea and small cookies and had our bags taken to the house around the corner, and gave us lots of clear and helpful info about the area, including a map with all the bathhouses marked and lots of great restaurants, many of which we happily tried. The house itself was perfect, very clean, with a cute little front bench area with plants and the bedroom had the most comfortable futon beds I've ever used. It's also in a great quiet location in a lovely neighborhood, great for early morning walks and convenient for shopping, eating, and getting to the rest of Tokyo. We also did the free tour with Nana on our first full day and enjoyed learning more about the history of Yanaka. My only wish is that we had been able to book it again for the few more days in Tokyo at the end of our trip, but it was already booked. If we come back, I will definitely look here first. Oh, and the breakfast, including food and music and service, were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Le lit était un peu dur, mais je m'en doutais étant sur des tatami. Par ailleurs, c'est le jeu mais l'isolation sonore et lumineuse est très limitée. Prévoir masque de nuit et bouchons d'oreilles pour les sensibles

Even during our one night stay, the hospitality was superb and we found the neighborhood to be perfect for those seeking a more laid back side of Tokyo yet still with easy access to the rest of the city. The room was cozy, and we found it fun to stay amongst the history of the building. Our neighbors were respectfully quiet, and the rest of the spaces were very clean, as well. The amenities and recommendations were also very thoughtfully done. We would definitely consider staying here again in a future trip to Tokyo.

The hotel staff have prepared an extensive list of local restaurants, stores, and amenities - so many that I couldn't visit all of them on top of everything else I had planned for Tokyo. They also include free breakfast with your stay with a variety of options.

Yanaka is a charming residential part of Tokyo and we were only a few minutes walk from the station making the city very accessible. We really appreciated returning to the area and Hanare after a day out in the city. Great food and drink options nearby also.

В баню не успели - не хватило сил, но уверена что стоит посетить. И район классный - спокойный, со старыми домиками. С едой ночью мы как-то не угадали- старайтесь попасть до 8 вечера, иначе потом все закрыто ( но всегда есть круглосуточные магазины) . А еще в отеле невероятные средства для душа и шампуни. Мы потом купили такие же домой- в торговом центра в Токио рядом с Cristian Dior)

My only comment would be that it would be nice to change up the breakfast menu slightly so that it wasn't the same every day.

It is located in the most quaint neighborhood. They were so kind as to hand deliver our luggage when we couldn’t check in face to face. It felt like a little heaven to live like a local. Yanaka is gorgeous.

- bruyant, on le savait, mais en bas on entend vraiment les gens dans la rue : avec des boules quies : RAS ! - l'isolation : on sentait les courants d'air --> mais on le savait en prenant ce type de logement

Reviewed Apr 1, 2026The room was interesting and we liked the windows and views onto the street below. But the walls were very thin so you could hear people brushing their teeth, etc. It was more of an upscale hostel type experience for a four star hotel price. You could hear people brushing their teeth, coming and going, etc. Very limited privacy. I liked the free sento passes.
Yukata should be provided because this is essentially an inn. Also when the concept is 'the neighborhood is your hotel' it would make sense to provide yukata to go to the sento down the street, etc. It was annoying having to get dressed to use the bathroom in the hallway, especially during the night. Yukata are typically provided at inns/hotels like this with Japanese style rooms. Even business hotels with public baths provide them so this was a bit baffling. The check-in time was also a bit too long with too much unnecessary information provided (such as details about where the breakfast food was sourced from). Check-in should be a smooth and quick process not a long presentation. I told the staff that I had been to the neighborhood many times and was familiar with it but they insisted on providing a 20 minute overview of it. A lot of this information could just be provided in a pamphlet in the rooms. The service in the cafe was also bad. I did not get my coffee that I ordered, and then when I wanted a refill I had to go and ask a second time. The Japanese breakfast wasn't very good. I love Japanese breakfasts and foods but fish or or something else other than fish cake should have been included. Having to be at breakfast at a specific time was also annoying. It felt like having an appointment during a holiday.

Reviewed Apr 1, 2026Nana was so sweet, and helped my sisters and I so much during the stay. The hotel went above and beyond our expectations with the breakfast and extra goodies at check in. We loved that the rooms described the artists and desgn behind the rooms, and everything had such a personal and intentional touch.

Reviewed Mar 21, 2026L'attention aux petits détails, l'accueil client très professionnel et attentif de Momo, la beauté des équipements et du logement, le confort du moderne dans une ancienne bâtisse de charme. Les petits déjeuners dans le café d'à côté. Les cadeaux pour aller gratuitement dans les bains publics ou bien la carte du quartier.
La très faible insonorisation (même si on y est sensibilisé dès le check-in), l'expérience peut changer du tout au tout si les voisins ne sont pas respectueux. Le prix est relativement cher pour une mauvaise insonorisation, sachant que bien dormir reste l'indicateur principal lorsqu'on choisit un hôtel.

Reviewed Mar 16, 2026We had a lovely warm greeting on arrival and shown to our cute little room upstairs in the lodge. Everything about Hanare was explained perfectly and the girls were able to successfully book us into an amazing Sushi restaurant down to road. We had the best night eating with local diners. Breakfast each morning at Hagiso was beautifully presented and delicious. Location was perfect and would stay again if in the neighbourhood.

It was the perfect escape from the craziness of Shinjuku etc. the attention to detail from the moment we checked in was without fault - I’m not sure I’ve ever stayed anywhere where everything has been curated with such thought.

Shared shower between 6 rooms is inconvenient, especially if you’re in an upstairs room. Bringing heavy luggage upstairs is also difficult, I would recommend travelling light if you’re upstairs
