Clean and quaint

Close to town, diary nearby, friendly staff who communicated well, although close to a busy road we were back off the road so was quiet. bed was so comfy I slept very well!

It wasn't an accom issue it was a google maps issue for the uber driver as he did not know how to find the property

Lovely quiet location, nice comfortable room with all you need. Liked the small kitchen area to have breakfast and coffee.

Lovely host. Breakfast cereal and toast provided. Villa used to be a family home. Very pretty place.

Everything was excellent from start to finish — the room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect for exploring the town and the lake. A great base for our family trip around the South Island. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

We felt the room could have been better maintained. On arrival we noticed some cleanliness issues — dust in corners, marks on the bathroom fixtures, and a few maintenance items that looked overdue for attention.

Cosy room. Lovely garden for a summer stay. Birds love the fountain.

Oh, I didn't know there was breakfast involved I would have liked that option.

My husband was driving and had trouble finding the place on our SatNav in the afternoon. We went out to the movies so coming back in the darkness was an absolute nightmare. We drove around in circles before we got it right. Then we saw the sign 74. It was a stress

There was all we needed for breakfast. The location was perfect. The accommodation was exceptionally clean. Lovely bed linen. Also it was lovely and warm when we arrived in the room. It was a very cool night outside and we were very cosy and comfortable.

The quiet location but near town

Lovely, spacious room. Super clean. Bedding felt divine. The shared kitchen space was a treat.

Would have been good to have another little table along a wall. Not essential at all, just a thought. I didn't like facing the driveway entrance as we needed to keep the curtains closed and couldn't enjoy the verandah. I didn't quite realise this until we arrived

great location, easy to find, lots of parking, perfect for our nights stay.

The security lights came on quite frequently through the night , I think maybe cats setting them off? Otherwise we were very happy with everything .

The decor and setting was a beautiful surprise. I don't know what I expected but this exceeded it for me. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in and the added touch of warming the room prior to our return at night was hugely appreciated. Will definitely return when next in Cambridge and I have no hesitation in recommending anyone to stay here.

We were only there for the night. Great place to stay after arriving back from Overseas before travelling down to the Bay Would fully recommend the Villa Shakespeare lovely spot and surroundings spotless accommadation and super comfy mattress and pillows. Great kitchen facilities for breakfast and meals. Would definitely stay again

Warm, clean comfortable room. The kitchen facilities were fine. The re-stocking of breakfast was sparse.

No contact with staff whatsoever. Very impersonal.

This was a repeat visit having stayed 3 months prior. We enjoy the peacefulness of this property as well as the locality and convenience to the town centre as well as the Karapiro Event Centre on this occasion. We were able to communicate easily with the owner who lives off site.

The room was lovely the seperated shared little garden kitchen was stocked with cereal milk, coffee. Very private. We walked across the beautiful bridge into Cambridge. Very nice stay, did not even see the host. But she kept InTouch via the app and accommodated for our late entry early departure.

The GPS took us around into the street behind, I have reported this to google tho so hopefully will be rectified.

Lovely room with peaceful outlook into the garden.

It was something a little different. The bed was very comfortable and the shower pressure excellent. We loved the little kitchen hut that was so well set out with breakfast foods. A real added bonus.

It is a lovely peaceful place to stay and tastefully decorated and landscaped. Ideal for people who are travelling long distances and need a good resting point.

The bed was a little hard.

The photos online did the room no justice the room I stayed in was absolutely beautiful. Nothing like the photos, it was very comfortable and clean, having a separate kitchen that was available all the time was very handy. It’s so close Lake Karapiro also to supermarkets and eateries. April was so lovely and accommodating even when I was running late for our checkin time. Thank you Villa Shakespeare highly recommended and would definitely stay again.

Very accommodating host who arranged us arriving late for check in. We travelled here from the last tour of Hobbiton the night before and it was an easy drive. The room was pleasant and had coffee and tea facilities (including milk in the fridge). A beautiful courtyard area with a fountain. There's a great kitchen area to microwave or get other coffees. Explored the nearby town of Cambridge the next day and had a lovely time

Very nice accommodation just a short distance from "downtown" Cambridge. We used it as our base (as we traveled from Auckland to Rotorua) for going to the Waitomo glowworms caves (an easy 1 hour drive) and to Hobbiton (only about 20-30 minutes away). The room we had was big with a king bed and en-suite bathroom, with two chairs, coffee, tea, and cups, and water glasses. The nearby shared kitchen had a full-size refrigerator/freezer (so we could freeze the ice we used for our travel cooler) and breakfast items were provided including yogurt, oatmeal, bread, coffee, tea. It's located just off a main road and parking was easy. There was a lovely sitting area with a fountain. They even cleaned our room each night!

We were planning to do laundry but the host had an emergency and couldn't be on site, so laundry wasn't available at the time we were there.

Tucked in behind the Waikato River, away from the hustle and bustle of Cambridge township, I was pleasantly surprised by Villa Shakespeare. Small and dosages of retreat, retreat, retreat. A wonderful space and creative space for writers and fine artists to relax and allow the imagination to bloom. A secret, a magical place for the weary.

We booked three lovely, well appointed rooms in historic old Villa. On a busy road, but up a long drive, so quiet. Plenty of breakfast options. Clean and comfortable with nice touches. April was very friendly and approachable.

Might pay to check some expiry dates on fridge contents, but plenty of breakfast options, so no real issue.

The room was great. Facilities great. Host was awesome.

It was a gorgeous stay. My son and I lov3d how clean and tidy everything was. It was peaceful and just gorgeous for us. We felt like we were at a retreat.

We didn't get to spend all our time there as we were in Camvridge for waka ama but it was so good to come back to a clean and peaceful safe place to stay.
