Excelente ubicación. Personal muy amable y buen servicio. Espacio tranquilo y agradable. La comida del desayuno muy rica.

El primer día no fue claro cuando nos atendieron qué incluía el desayuno; tuvimos que preguntar para que nos ofrecieran sin mucho detalle algunas opciones. La habitación muy limpia y cómoda, pero tiene una terraza interna que está en condiciones regulares (sucia, no está bien mantenida), que da una impresión de poco mantenimiento al hotel. La zona de la piscina también podría estar mejor mantenida. Tuvimos poco espacio para hacernos porque había reservas de reuniones y eso deja pocas sillas disponibles en la sombra para los huéspedes.

La atención del personal es cercana calida, desde Andrés en la recepción, hasta Jesús y Daniel en la piscina, el desayuno, delicioso y la habitación en general, Espectacular!

Sehr gute Lage man ist in wenigen Minuten überall. Unser Zimmer war sehr groß und gut ausgestattet mit einer großen Terrasse, leider alles etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

Leider war die Terrasse nicht zu benutzen da die Beschattung wie auf den Bildern nicht vorhanden. Sehr schade da auch auf Nachfrage nicht zur Verfügung gestellt.

El stand fue muy amable durante toda nuestra estadia. La ubicación genial con un bonito rooftop. Los desayunos muy ricos. Estábamos preocupadas por los.comentarios de que por la noche no se dormía por el ruido de la calle pero no escuchamos nada de la habitación. Dormimos genial.

Café da manhã. Poucas opções e por duas vezes não colocaram o buffet de café da manhã por ter pouco hóspede. Ao invés de prestigiar os poucos hóspedes que escolherem o hotel, eles agem com descaso e falta de respeito. Vc podia pedir, mas não tinha o buffet com opções de escolha. Péssimo.

We had a great experience at The Sophia Hotel. The rooms (I was there 2 nights- but not consecutive so had two different rooms) Both rooms were great... Roomy & very clean. The Breakfast included was delicious and the staff was warm & friendly. Eric at the front desk was super helpful and I am so glad we stayed here...

We ordered Margaritas at the pool and (our fault) we didn't ask the price, and we paid $20 per margarita... Which was NYC prices... so we were pretty shocked to see a $90 bar tab but again, we should have asked... or they should have mentioned the 'top shelf' was that much!

De lokatie aan het plein in het midden van de ommuurde stad van Cartagena is onbeschrijfelijk. Sunrise aan de ene kant, sunset aan de andere kant. Geweldig uitzicht vanaf de rooftop op de 4e verdieping. Loopafstand van alle kraampjes en activteiten. Heel veilig. Ik kreeg een room upgrade en de kamer was smaakvol, romanisch met hoog plafond, hoge deuren van massief hout. Ontbijt was pure verwennerij. Eggs benedict, aparte fruitsoorten, alles werd met zorg en toewijding bereid. Personeel was uitermate vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Ik had een vis gerecht besteld. Ik kreeg sla en tomaat ipv advocaat, zonder dat er iets over werd gezegd toen het werd geserveerd. De smaak van de vis was overigens voortreffelijk

Hotel Sophia OXO in Cartagena is a charming and comfortable hotel located right in the heart of the walled city. We stayed there during Easter and loved being surrounded by the festive activity and vibrant energy of the area. Once the holiday ended, things quieted down, making it a peaceful spot to enjoy the city’s historic beauty on foot without needing any transportation. Our suite was spacious, with a sofa, a table and four chairs, and a king-size bed. The room also had a large wardrobe, plenty of shelves, a minibar, a huge TV with many accessible channels, and lots of electrical outlets—which made things very convenient. The building itself is old and full of historic charm, which adds to its unique atmosphere. While it’s not a modern, luxury-style hotel, it’s comfortable and well maintained. The staff were exceptional—polite, warm, and genuinely sincere in every interaction. It is certainly on the expensive side, especially considering what you might expect for the same price in New York, but what you’re paying for is the experience of staying in a beautifully restored historical building in an unbeatable location. If you value character, authenticity, and attentive service, Hotel Sophia OXO is a lovely choice for your stay in Cartagena.

Excellent location, walking distance to pretty much anywhere. The rooftop and pool were a great spot to relax. Clean, comfortable and cute rooms. The staff service was outstanding!! Happy and caring people who work hard to make the visitors feel like home. The food was delicious and fresh every day. Their breakfast has many options complemented with fresh fruit and coffee. Definitely a great choice!!

wir haben uns zwischen 2 Hotels entscheiden müssen , da haben wir wegen dem hinweiß auf den guten Caopchino dieses genommen. Man erzählte mir dann 5 Tage die Maschine ist kaputt. Das Wasser in der Minibar ist aus Gold.. 6 Euro wäre selbst in Deutschland ne Nummer . Der Pool ist 70 cm tief schwimmen na ja . leider auch sehr wenig Platz am Pool. Frühstück war dann einen Tag kein Büfett was aber ok war. Hatten leider ein Zimmer mit blick auf nee Wand.

It is convenient for walking almost everywhere. **Atmosphere:** The atmosphere is very nice and peaceful, while still being just around the corner from the festive activity. You get the best of both worlds—easy access to the nightlife and a relaxing place to return to. **Room:** The room was nice and spacious, with a comfortable bed and great pillows. It included a small L-shaped couch, a small desk, a large bureau/closet, a small safe, and a mini-bar refrigerator. The bathroom layout is a little different but works well: the sink is in the open area in the room, while the toilet and a large stand-up shower are separated. The towels were excellent—very large, thick, and soft. Honestly, they were so good, I would love to know where to buy them. **Value:** This is a mid-range hotel for the area, and the cost is well worth what you get. **Cleanliness:** The room, bathroom, and hotel overall were very clean. Housekeeping cleans the room daily, which helps keep everything fresh and comfortable. **Noise Level:** It could occasionally get a little noisy at night during festivals, but overall it was pretty peaceful—especially considering the location. **Service:** Outstanding service. This was my sixth visit to the hotel, and during the last three or four visits, the staff remembered my name and my preferences. They are always welcoming, with a smile and a kind word. Nuestra estancia fue muy buena y nos pareció que el hotel ofrece una relación calidad-precio excelente. El desayuno es increíble, muy completo y cuidado, y el personal muy servicial, siempre dispuesto a ayudar con todo y a facilitarte la estancia. La ubicación es perfecta para conocer la zona turística de Cartagena, todo queda a mano y se puede recorrer cómodamente el centro. La habitación era muy bonita y grande, la cama super cómoda. El rooftop es súper chulo y totalmente recomendable, un espacio ideal para relajarse y disfrutar del ambiente.

Esa noche estábamos cansados y no nos encontrábamos bien, así que volvimos al hotel para ver un poco de Netflix. El mando no era el de la televisión de la habitación; lo avisamos en recepción, pero no pudieron solucionarlo. Aunque no es algo clave en vacaciones, es una pena fallar en algo tan básico y más teniendo una pantalla tan grande.

The location is fantastic close to everything you need to explore Cartegena The breakfast was delicious - lots of options (look at the menu as initially we just thought it was only eggs the style you wanted). The lunch/dinner options were also very good Appreciated the attention to detail throughout our stay by the staff, for example little biscuits every night was cute :) Bar staff were very attentive

The rooftop felt smaller than what the pictures show Before arriving the hotel staff informed us we could use the sister hotel gym although when we arrived this wasn’t possible which was a shame for us as it did help determine our stay here (running around the city is very hot!)

Nos hospedamos en la habitación 305, desde el 5 al 9 de diciembre de 2025, y desde el primer momento la atención fue simplemente impecable. La calidez humana, la amabilidad y la constante disposición del staff hicieron que nos sintiéramos verdaderamente acogidos y cuidados en todo momento. Cada espacio del hotel se encontraba siempre limpio y perfectamente mantenido, y los detalles que dejaban cada noche en nuestra habitación marcaron una diferencia enorme, demostrando una dedicación y preocupación por el bienestar del huésped que no se ve en todas partes. La calidad de la comida fue excepcional: desayunos deliciosos y variados, almuerzos de alto nivel y tragos preparados con dedicación y excelente gusto. Todo fue simplemente impecable. Más que una estadía, fue una experiencia que superó por completo nuestras expectativas. El viaje no habría sido el mismo sin la espectacular atención del equipo humano que forma parte del hotel, quienes con su cercanía y profesionalismo transformaron cada día en algo especial. Sin duda, lo único que nos queda es el deseo de volver en algunos años más, esta vez junto a nuestros hijos, para revivir esta experiencia inolvidable. I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of fresh options to start the day right. The location was excellent—close to everything I needed, making it easy to explore and enjoy the area.

The location was great. The hotel had a colonial style with high ceilings. We had a large comfortable room with extremely comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast and rooftop pool and bar. Staff were very friendly, and Erick and Andreas particularly helpful.

Nothing. It was a little noisy at night but this was due to the time of year, as the Christmas celebrations were being built in the square outside our room.

The noise from the festival happening in the square could be heard very clearly from the room and made it very difficult to sleep.

Se supone que estamos en un hotelazo. Teniendo en cuenta eso…La habitación es mejorable! La humedad es insufrible, no está limpia, es antigua y las instalaciones son muy mejorables. Lo único que destaca es la terraza pero siempre siempre tiene fiesta privada. Además, después de la fiesta privada a las 6 de la mañana lo recogen todo y parece que se cae el techo de tu habitación, por lo cual no duermes. Tenía muchas expectativas con este hotel, pero que nos lo habían recomendado, pero no merece la pena.

The hotel was really nice and the location was great. The rooms were and well laid out. The superior deluxe room in particular was very spacious and had a nice view of the square - disproportionately better value than a superior double. Breakfast was really good and the staff - especially in the restaurant were lovely.

The hot water in the shower fluctuated between burning hot and not quite hot enough - you had to keep stepping in and out of the shower or burn yourself. The roof terrace and pool was a nice place to chill and hang out when Cartagena got too hot but the music was really loud even in the middle of the day and on Saturday night there is no sleeping in the rooms on the courtyard side of the hotel because the noise from the roof bar is so loud. It felt like they were prioritising visiting partygoers over residents.

Het was jammer dat wij speciaal een hotel met rooftopbar en zwembad geboekt hadden maar daar vanaf 3 uur al geen gebruik meer van konden maken ivm een privé feestje.

In hotel muy acogedor, tranquilo para las zona. Muy buena la atención de los empleados. Una terraza agradable que su piscina. Y bar.

Deben cambiar periódicamente las toallas de los cuartos. Están muy desgastadas, por lo menos las que nos pudieron en nuestro cuarto.

Fantástico. Muy bien situado, limpísimo, el personal es amabilísimo, buenos desayunos, habitaciones modernas y cómodas, te ayudan en todo. Tiene un rofftop para tomar algo y tiene piscina. De los mejores sitios en los que me he alojado. Y Cartagena es una maravilla. Reservé dos excursiones a islas cercanas y fue un acierto, me aconsejaron y me hicieron la reserva en la recepción del hotel. Muchas gracias

We really enjoyed Hotel Sophia, mostly. First off the location can not be beat. It is right on one of the larger squares in the old city. The staff is very friendly and helpful and mostly speaks good English. They set up a car from the airport and a tour for us very easily. The breakfast is good and the rooftop is very nice. The room was pretty nice but for a junior suite it could have been a little bigger. The only drawback is that it is not quiet. One day we came back from a day out and found earplugs on our nightstand, which was new. They were having a private party on the roof and it was ridiculously loud until after 11pm. The square it is in is definitely one of the quieter ones but there was a trumpeter playing the same song over and over until past 10pm every night. That’s not their fault and I definitely think hotels in the other squares would be louder.

Good location. Friendly staff and were very helpful especially when we arrived at night. The room felt spacious and was nice and cool. Pool deck was lovely and staff were always friendly and polite.

Sometimes the toilet did not drain well. We often did not get enough towels.

Coincidió que en la plaza hubo un evento multitudinario que comenzó a las 4:30 de la mañana y al día siguiente una reunión de cristianos evangelistas que comenzaron con ruido a las mismas 4:30 de la mañana, sé que son eventos externos al hotel pero influyó en nuestro descanso, ya que de tres noches, dos se vieron interrumpidas por sendos actos.

Als wir kamen, liefen im Zimmer zwei Grossbildschirme mit Nachrichten. Nicht unbedingt das, was man im Urlaub sehen möchte. Mal abgesehen vom hohen Stromverbrauch.

A praça em frente ao hotel teve eventos nos dois dias que estive no hotel, detalhe, os eventos começavam às 4h da manhã com palco, som alto, gritaria, ou seja, quem está hospedado no hotel só dorme até as 4h da manhã. Um dia foi evento de ciclismo e corrida e no outro foi evento religioso, detalhe, o evento religioso em plena segunda-feira.

Hotel agreed in person at reception to cancel 3 nights, (even that ccl policy says no) after check in date they charged me and said hotel manager do not accept, how to understand it if reception Mr. Fabio agreed to cancel without charges? Be aware of this hotel!

Customer service is incredible one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had in the world. The rooms are clean, the hotel is spotless, safe, and in an incredible, central location. From the moment I arranged transportation and even before the communication with the staff was impeccable, both via WhatsApp and email, confirming my airport pickup all the way until I arrived at the hotel. I stayed for three nights, and there is nothing more I could possibly ask for.

The rooftop bar is always staffed from morning until night, which is fantastic. At many other hotels, there’s no service during quieter hours, so this really sets the hotel apart. The rooftop itself is beautifully maintained, with a refreshing pool and plenty of shaded areas—something essential in the heat of Cartagena. The music is excellent, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The hotel is located right in the heart of the historic old town, so from the rooftop you can see the city’s landmarks, the harbor, the ocean, and even the modern skyline. We love this hotel; this was our second stay, and we’ll definitely be back. It has become our favorite place to stay in Cartagena, not just a hotel, but a place we know and truly enjoy. In the evenings, the rooftop comes even more alive, making it a true hotspot with its pool, stunning views, great music, and vibrant bar. The hotel has character, you can enjoy spending entire days there. The breakfast is great; many options, well-staffed, great cooks, fresh and a la carte options. A wide variety of fruits. We really love it. The rooms are very spacious and clean.

We had an amazing stay at the Sophia hotel! We spent two nights here, and it was a very quiet area but still close and walkable to everything in El Centro. The rooms were spacious and well-maintained, and the rooftop pool bar was beautiful with a great view of the city. The best part was the service, everyone on the staff was so nice and accommodating, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I would rate my experience a 5. Planned this trip for my husband‘s birthday, and they made it extra special. I had asked for a simple fruit platter upon arrival. They reached out to me quickly even requesting a photo of us, so that they may include it. Both my husband and I were surprised with balloon decorations, fruit, a small piece of cake and a framed photo of us in the room. This was more than I asked for and was a wonderful birthday surprise for him! Prior to our arrival I had also booked airport transportation directly with the hotel, which was done with ease. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. You could not ask for a better location and the views from the rooftop pool were perfect. The breakfast was always so tasty and the lunch by the pool was also delicious. Every evening we were served a little tasty treat by the staff and they were always delightful. The beds are very comfortable and rooms spacious plus kept very clean. It was a very busy time of year to visit so there were lots of families here so our children made lots of friends. The food menu was different every day and I thought it would be a struggle for the kids to eat but there were lots of choices. The entertainment was fantastic however, something for everyone all day and night. The animation crew never stopped with smiles on their faces all day and night.
